In the living streaming of the Light which pervades the work of Creation everything vibrates in an endless interpenetrating and transforming of shapes and forms

The mutability of forms in the unfolding happenings is given by the creative power which lies in the all-embracing nature of the radiation of the Light

This creative radiation is present in all the planes above the materialities

In part the possibility of the mutability of forms is also to be found in the very finest planes of the materialities, that is, in the most vividly vibrating parts of the Subsequent Creation

In these planes, however, it is already greatly narrowed and restricted

The Light in its radiance streams through and penetrates the entire being of the inhabitants of the high-lying primordially created and created planes, like one great and all-animating undulation

It forms space and also that which is within it, in a continual movement forwards

Thereby arise space and also the concept of time, which for many people is a great mystery, for it is precisely the mutability of forms that determines its flow

The higher, the more vivid the movement and the transformation of forms

The most vivid in this movement are the planes of the Primordial Creation, that is, the places lying in the proximity of the source of all life, the Castle of the Grail

There follow then all the spiritual planes with their places of blissful life of joyful inhabitants

All these planes of Creation are formed by the living Light, which makes it possible for the inner experiencing of the present moment to be expressed in an immediate outward radiation into forms

This is something of which men here in the materialities know nothing at all, for the density of matter here does not permit anything of the kind

The animistic planes too, which lie immediately above the part of the materialities in the Subsequent Creation, are continually subject to transformations of their outward forms

However true it is that in a downward direction this happening becomes slower, yet in all the more luminous planes this transforming of forms is something that is an inseparable part of life

These happenings are natural also to all the inhabitants there and are for them something entirely self-evident

It enables them to experience in the most vivid manner the moments of the present, which unfold in the living outpouring of the Light from the heights of the Grail

For the comprehension of earthmen, who here on earth proceed only from the narrow limits of a learned perception, something like this is unimaginable, that forms can change markedly without the underlying basis of the radiation of the being concerned being touched thereby

The pictures of dense gross matter create the impression that everything which has once come into existence thereafter remains more or less constant for its appointed time, and that development and changes take place only very gradually within the possibilities permitted by the cooling precipitate of the universe here

This, however, applies to the world here, not to the whole work of Creation

In the planes where space and the happenings unfolding therein are subject, by reason of a greater proximity to the Light, to permanently more translucent conditions, the mutability of forms is the most intrinsic part of all life

It is something so self-evident that none of the inhabitants of the Primordial Creation ever wonders at it

Just as in the earthly world the bodily capacities for movement and their expression in the walking or running of the creatures here are held by all to be self-evident, so it is with the mutability of forms in the worlds above the materialities

Only there everything is a thousandfold more vivid, even in the smallest particles of which the total radiation of the forms is composed

The movement and the vitality of the radiation carry these possibilities automatically, as a capacity bestowed upon all the more luminous planes of the work of Creation

But after all even here, on earth, we can recognise that under certain conditions the movement and the mutability of happenings can be far swifter than is possible with the other degrees of the same gross matter

Even a mere glance at the clouds, which the sylphs of the air form out of the substantiality of gases and water vapours, shows forms changing with a swiftness that the other kinds of substance here on earth are not able to follow

The shapes and also the colouring of the clouds are pictures which by their very nature are continually subject to living transformation

What still held good a minute ago is already past, so that something new may just be born which brings a further enchantment in forms

Although the forms of the clouds change, the foundation is always the same kind of substantiality, and the outward result remains ever subject to transformations

Again and again it thereby brings to the eye of the observing man cause for admiration and reverence at the glory which is mirrored in the shapes and tracings of the clouds in the sky and speaks to him

And indeed it is so

In the pictures formed out of the clouds many happenings speak to man, which he alone is not able to translate rightly for himself

The clouds, however neutral and remote they may seem in the shaping of forms which man can perceive with his eyes, speak to him in the living language of the animistic

Every man could derive much benefit if his spirit knew how to read rightly therefrom and to receive for himself the message of the speech which is shaped for him by animistic hands in the forms of the pictures

How little men know is proved precisely by the fact that they cannot read the pictures in the sky above their heads

And yet this is only one of the ways in which the higher spheres speak to us earthmen through the work of the animistic activity

But we can go still further

Similarly, as it is with the clouds in the sky, so also the mobility of the water element changes its forms in every moment of its undulating and streaming

The waters of lakes, rivers, seas and oceans form rings and waves which join and part again, so that in their shimmer the mirror of the vault of heaven is reflected

In this too man is again spoken to through the scenes and pictures contained therein

The movement of the animistic weaving forms ever new shapes which always bear within them a refreshing beauty

Whoever rightly observes the mobility of forms here on earth can approach, at least for a moment, the happenings which are an inseparable part of life in the planes above the materialities

Above the materialities the forms of life are not so constant as they are here

They are far more vivid and more luminously irradiated in their living vibration

And Valhalla in particular, as well as the gardens of Asgard and also everything originating from that part of the animistic kind above the materialities of the Subsequent Creation, bears forms which vibrate in continual transformation

The radiation of the Light streaming from the heights always brings a new vibration, in which everything living finds itself as part of a current that brings transformations in the most glorious manifestations of beauty

This is something that will forever be denied to the earthly world here, even though here too a manifoldly greater vitality in the brightness and luminosity of outward forms can be attained, and thereby an ever higher degree of beauty can be reached

When men awaken more in their spiritual nature, then their surroundings will become more mobile, because they will no longer be retarded by the density of a merely material volition

Thereby many happenings will be released which now cannot come to expression, because they are hindered by the human will, which does not permit them

But in spite of all that will yet come with the awakening of spiritual vitality, the cooled density of the materialities sets an ultimate limit to mobility, which cannot be surpassed

Therefore the working of the animistic and spiritual kind in the materialities, although it can still increase in vitality much further, from today's point of view to the very degree of the miraculous, always has a restriction laid down by the nature of matter, which in the end always manifests as an insurmountable degree of vitality

Thus also in man, who is limited by the perception of the brain, that recognition of the real vitality of the happenings which run their course above the materialities will forever remain confined to the inner vision of those human beings granted the grace thereto

The earthly world as it has been hitherto is far removed from anything of the kind, and therefore it is not possible even for those granted such grace to find their way rightly among these living forms

The beholding of the happenings and forms above the materialities, to which nearest of all belongs the animistic source of the forces with Valhalla itself and the gardens of Asgard, which in their living vibration appear as ever transforming themselves, is something that has hitherto confused and still leads to wrong conclusions many people who earnestly endeavour to occupy themselves with it

The ancient peoples were permitted to observe a little of it and thus to receive pictures which were held to be self-evident within the inner maturity and comprehension of the people of that time

And this perception was different in many places on earth, indeed it differed by whole great degrees of maturity

Hence there prevails so very much diversity among the various degrees of the veneration of the animistic servants, whose faithfully creative work vibrates wholly in the Will of God

In the various places where the people of earlier times lived, there often prevailed a great difference of maturity in the receptivity of those granted grace

This difference caused the animistic servants to reveal themselves to different peoples always in another way, because their good will to show themselves to inwardly open human beings led them to the necessity of forming shapes which made it possible for men to recognise them at all

Were this not so, men would not have been able to connect them with their perception, such as it was given to them by their life on earth at that time

The differences which were thereby formed led to divergences which often created a lack of accord with the experiences of other peoples

Until now this has led to misunderstanding and also to disputes among men whenever they were to agree, within their earthly comprehension, upon something which through differing maturity is to be linked with something having its origin high above this place of the gross material universe

Complete agreement could not prevail therein, for it is conditioned by homogeneity in the capacity for recognition

The narrowed capacity of the brain to perceive the vitality that naturally prevails in everything of a kind other than earthly matter is thereby a grave obstacle

Considering how deeply ingrained in every man is the assumption that what he perceives is the real and only truth, which for millennia has been that great affliction for reaching agreement about anything wherever several people are gathered together, this living mutability of forms is but a further degree of the near impossibility for men to agree upon something originating from a part of the work of Creation of another kind

The vitality of forms, and above all the perception of their expression by this or that person through his own degree of maturity, then becomes the cause of entirely divergent pictures of some happening or manifestation which, being situated higher in Creation, are nevertheless real and have at their foundation always the same content

Put simply, the vitality of forms above matter cannot be captured in the rigidity of the earthly world

However excellent may be the gifts of those who describe, or perhaps who create in pictures an imprint of the living happening above matter, there will always be interwoven in it the earthliness of the given place, nation, race and of many further influences manifesting therein

But all these persisting differences can be bridged by the recognition that the animistic reveals itself, on the condition of a pure and humble volition, to all human beings of many degrees of maturity

Thus uniformity is not to be sought in the forms, but in the measure of the bestowal which can always come from the animistic, for it is giving and helping everywhere where a pure and childlike simple attitude prevails on the part of man

The forms are thereby only a necessary accompanying phenomenon, for the animistic is not bound to a fixed form of its appearance

This is something entirely new and it needs to be rightly received as new knowledge for earthman

This is something entirely new for the comprehension of men, although it has already been experienced many times that for each one there is appointed a path which corresponds to his capacities formed out of the conditions of his earthly bodily equipment, in this case by the capacities of the brain's receptivity

It is only something exceptional when men agree entirely upon pictures of happenings in the higher planes, which despite their supreme vitality coincide completely even in the finest details

This is a sign of the high spiritual progress of such people, and also the happenings in which pictures from the heights are revealed to them may veil themselves for them in forms most proper to the very nature of the place from which they are conveyed

To the majority, however, it will remain more or less remote, for the maturity of the spirit and also the endowment of the brain's perception are closely linked and too strongly influence one's own personal perceiving, which in reality is not progress but limitation

Only there where, together with pure openness, a glowing humility for the reception of higher happenings dwells in the spirit is it made possible to approach the very nature of the happenings, and thereby also the perception of the living forms connected with the events in the luminous planes

The condition for the right understanding of the animistic is not the form, but the fundamental features of the kind of activity in which this or that high animistic servant of Valhalla vibrates

These fundamental features always remain the same and are connected by radiation with the forms, which outwardly can be transformed as need requires

Their outward appearance, perceived from without by the seeing man, is then, in the greatest vitality, such a covering as is adapted to the degree of maturity of the particular person

The animistic working in some element will always have forms which are more closely bound up with the particular place where a certain kind of climate prevails, where certain animals live and where also the people themselves bear in their appearance the given features of such a region

Let us take as an example here that for the man of the north the animistic then lets itself be beheld veiled in forms which will be intelligible to the people of the north there

It will be entirely different in the case of the people of the south, who are accustomed to another kind of climate and whose surrounding nature and forms are bound up with their given manner of living

It will be different again with the people of the far Asiatic lands or of the other continents, as many as this earth bears upon it

Fundamentally, however, they will always be the same servants, who merely in a living covering, one that in no way affects their activity, adapt themselves to men so that these can behold them in pure and trustful openness

It is the same with the naming, which develops from a fundamental sound, ever more towards names which in their aptness come closer and closer to the actual harmony in which the animistic servants vibrate

Out of many diversities men on earth can gradually draw ever nearer to the essence of true knowledge, which stands permanently open to the human spirit in its striving for maturity

The condition for this is always one thing alone – a pure and simple inner openness which bears within it a certain measure of childlike trust

However much the forms of the coverings of the animistic servants may differ in the various places of the earth, there will always also prevail therein an important factor

Together with the feature expressing the kind of activity of the animistic servant, it will always be the accompanying form of beauty and harmonious perfection of appearance

Where this is lacking, there only fancy and one's own imagination are at work, never the actual perception of the animistic

The animistic itself is always veiled only in the noblest of forms, however these may differ in their diversity in order to draw nearer to men

That which always remains, for from the very nature of the animistic kind in the work of Creation it cannot be otherwise, is beauty and the perfect harmony of forms

Thus different peoples will behold the animistic through the receptivity of their race, through the perception of their body and its earthly formation, that is, the colour of the skin, the shapes of the face and much else besides which for men is closely connected with the degree of perception of anything supra-earthly

This includes the very speech of the tongue with which men name the things and happenings around them

Something of the kind, however, is no obstacle for the animistic servants, for otherwise it would not be possible for them to draw near to men

It does not matter to them how men perceive them, but it lies close to their hearts that men should recognise and receive the wisdom which lies in their creative work

They are aware that through the knowledge of them men can draw nearer to the recognition of the Will of God working permanently throughout the whole work of Creation

Therefore it was never an obstacle whether men called them servants of Valhalla or of Olympus, whether elsewhere they invoked Brahma, or called upward in yet an entirely different way according to how this or that nation had developed

Had mankind, however, continued in its development upwards, then knowledge would not have come to a standstill, and advancing maturity would gradually have led to a greater unification

This, however, is not a necessary condition, for the most important thing is neither the appearance nor the name, but the expression of their faithful service to the Creator, which vibrates permanently in the principle of the Laws given precisely by the Creator

It is just in this that men continually come up against adopted forms

Living progress in their search for genuine understanding has come to a halt, and everything has remained only in the repetition of the past which came to them from the forefathers of their nation

Thereby any recognition of their own was excluded, and with it ascent

Indeed we can observe this even today in all spiritual teachings and movements

Instead of development and advance there is only repetition, often in an anxious clinging to the past

It makes no difference whether this is excused by reverence for ancestors and traditions, or whether it is an endeavour not to lose in the end even the little that has remained of it

Everywhere in it we can see one thing alone – the incapacity for a movement forward of one's own

Because this movement is lacking and men find themselves severed from the real life of the work of Creation, they cling to the lifeless in a feverish rummaging through everything past

Attempts to arrange the past into new connections may create for some the impression of movement, but that is not the true progress forward which always bears within it a great influx of refreshment and of enthusiasm from recognising the inexhaustibility of the glory that lies in the wholeness of the work of Creation

It is mere gleaning, instead of a living drawing from new knowledge

Wherever, however, a connection with the heights of Creation exists, there we can at once find the living inflow of new knowledge which raises man spiritually upwards to an ever higher recognition of the Light and of God

And in this progress he is helped also by precisely this knowledge of the mutability of all forms that lie above the earthly world here

Surely this should long since have led him to an inner vitality in his reflecting, so that in everything he would not first come up against outward forms, but would always seek first the essence of the principle and the foundation of all Life

In every happening he would then seek the causes and the connections in their manifesting, and only out of the recognition of these would he let finer perceptions arise in his intuitive perception, by which he would then be inspired to further action

This surely holds good in the approach to everything that takes place here on earth

Then today the voices from the heights of the animistic activity could gradually descend to him again, to help and counsel him

To work one's way through to something of the kind, however, is possible only through one's own independent, purest will and a vitality issuing from within

From without only inspirations can come towards it, but the movement itself which brings ascent lies solely within

We cannot understand all forms as they appear outwardly, because even here on earth the forms are of many kinds, so that we are not able to classify them fully at once, but in every outward form there lies a foundation which stands in the Laws of Creation at an exactly appointed place

If, therefore, we strive with spiritual intuitive perception to recognise the foundation, that is, the inner origin of outward happenings and forms, then at once the way opens to recognise the motives of other people for their expressions

Thereby we can at once come nearer to finding a greater harmony among men, so far as this is possible at all

And a teacher in this can be for us precisely the knowledge that in all worlds and planes above the materialities, that is, in the animistic as well as, to a still greater degree, in the spiritual, the forms are alive in their transformations, and yet always correspond exactly to the given happening

There is something great in this, if a man immerses himself in it rightly

It can open for him the way to an ever greater recognition of the living weaving in the planes of the Light, which can also be a great help to him for the right recognition of the core of all happenings here on earth

Whoever takes this knowledge as an aid for the inner seeking of harmony with other people will quickly become a true connoisseur of all that is really taking place within his fellow-men

Thereby he can rejoice with them manifoldly more and also help them effectively in their pains and sufferings

This because he will no longer try to set outward forms to rights, but will always go with certainty to the essence of the matter

With love within him he can become a true physician of human souls

His inner luminosity and vitality will enable him to draw near to the hearts of other people, in order to bring them help and healing

Thereby, among other things, he will come close to the motives of the high animistic servants, who in their longing to draw near to men adapted themselves to their attunement and maturity by veiling themselves in such outward forms as to become comprehensible to men

Their true nature thereby remained far brighter, more radiant and thus more incomprehensible to the people of that time, just as it would also be with the people of today, were these exalted servants of Valhalla to show themselves to them

Everything in Creation is a living happening which forms shapes and events in such a way that, for the sake of greater understanding, the stronger can draw nearer to the weaker and the mature to the less mature

Whoever recognises this principle and strives to grasp it in its essence and creative vitality draws nearer to an ever deeper experiencing of the Love of God working therein

Blessed are those people who therein strive ever upwards with courage and living intuitive perception
