Mighty processes of the historical development race headlong through the universe

The animistic servants weave threads which will gradually shake all the spiritual lukewarmness found until now in the superficial manner of life of most people on Earth

The driving force which gives direction to all this is for ever solely the Will of God, which through its presence fills Creation and thus enters into all the threads of the happening with its all-overcoming ordinance, so as to drive these threads along the appointed courses of development

The Will of God bears within itself the unstoppable stream of the Primordially Eternal Life

The stream mediates in Creation the strengthening for abiding in bliss to all life that vibrates in accord with the Harmony

To that life which is only yet developing, the same lofty stream of the Primordially Eternal Life then gives the power to rouse itself to the attaining of progress in ascent

Earthly mankind belongs to that part which is still developing

It may be said that, stumbling in its development, it lags far behind where it should already have been

Therefore the stream of power here mentioned is so needful for it, even at the price of the coming of unexpected and grave events which stand just now before us

The events will be both of a natural and of a social kind

The stream which flowed to the Earth at the Festival of Purity is in its power like a mightily rolling wave which will pervade everything, so as to drive precisely everything with quickened speed towards a movement forward through the living-out

Even though outwardly it does not appear so to a cursory glance, in this stream there lies the way out of all difficulties, distress, sicknesses and suffering, that is, the way out of those conditions which are intimately known to a great part of the people on Earth

The way out lies in the expiation of all that is past, just as it lies in the forgiving of all that has been done to a man by others

Expiation through living-out and through forgiving

This is contained in the call which is borne together with the streaming power through the universe here

The most direct and also the most passable way to the attaining of all expiation and forgiveness lies in the attuning of the inner being to a lasting volition for all-embracing good towards all life in Creation

That is also the most natural accord with the great Harmony

In this attunement are to be found all the helps and strengthenings for man upon his path of development

Harmony brings a state of joy, of the fullness of happiness and of health

The experiencing of all the most varied states of pain and suffering, on the contrary, comes to man always only as the necessary consequence of a previous disturbing of the Harmony

In Creation nothing is accidental

Nor is it in any case the work of trials from God, as is supposed among people who assert that they believe in God

The explanations of these people are far too superficial, as will soon be shown

Suffering, sickness, pain, slavery and misery are for the greater part the result of previous failings and of the wrongs inflicted by individuals, by nations and by mankind as a whole

And in the periods of the great shifts of historical development, great portions of all that men have called into life are suddenly set in motion, so that it may be balanced out and thereby accord with the great Harmony of the work of Creation may be attained once more in everything

Therefore unrest is now growing on the earthly plane

Above all it is on the plane of the soul that a pressure grows in most people, which is the consequence of an intuitive sensing that, if they are to free themselves, all that is past must first be laid aside through the right living-out of that which now comes to them as a great opportunity in the quickened happening

To the Earth there comes in an intensified streaming the possibility of many an expiation

However much this may weigh upon many a man who has much to expiate, as something he considers almost impossible to master, it still holds good that where courage is to be found within, there it is always possible to begin and to persevere in a new pure striving for ascent

Where there is courage, there help of an unprecedented kind will now come to man

The All-Wisdom of God holds the path of ascent for everyone who longs to become pure and good

Despite all that is ugly and painful which has been called into life by men, every inhabitant of the work of Creation is therefore lastingly remembered in all the happening

So long as the spiritual spark is not irrevocably drawn into the state of the scattering of its acquired self-consciousness, it holds good that the Laws of Creation always keep ways in readiness so that all which has hitherto moved away from the Harmony may be permitted to return to this Harmony again

Therein lies the incomprehensible Graciousness of God

It is that Love of God which men have hitherto been unable rightly to recognise, and thereby unable to comprehend

In its living foundation, which issues from the Primordial Essence of the Life Principle of the Holy God, there lies, for the possibility of the turning back of those human spirits who moved away from the Light and from God, a still-blazing way out and a hope of victory

However much it often resembles only a distant star flickering in the darkness, it is nevertheless a promise of hope

Even now a great part of all the seeds of the humanly spiritual sunk into the materialities may still at the last moment set out upon the path of return to the Light

The maturity of everything spiritual to be found in the world-part of Ephesus is predestined for this

The humanly spiritual species dwelling here already bears within itself sufficient experience

Yet at the same time the greatest part of human souls is heavily enmeshed in threads of fate which demand first to be laid aside, so that only thereafter may the way upward into the translucent spiritual regions open for the spiritual flame

The possibility of drawing near to the Light again rests precisely upon the condition of the expiation of all that is past, whatever the deeds, thoughts or stirrings of the inner soul may have been of those who deviated from accord with the remaining life in Creation that vibrates in harmony with the Will of God

This renewed drawing near to the Will of God, and thereby the drawing near to accord with the other inhabitants of Creation, bears within itself the requirement that first, in the awakening of all-embracing good, a transformation in the radiating of the spiritual spark takes place

The conscious acceptance of all that comes

Fervently alive must the volition to what is better be, so that the path may become luminous and straight

The Laws of God working in the work of Creation permit no other procedure than that everything which arose out of evil volition must be balanced out

Only thereafter can that fundamental betterment of all forms and happenings come about in the life of the individual and of the whole of present-day mankind

If therefore the transformation of man is spoken of, then the procedure holds good that first the spark within man blazes up and comes alive, and only then do the changes in the remaining degrees of the coverings set in

The change of the inner being therefore automatically bears the great promise of the transformation of all that is finally visible even in the earthly world itself

This procedure holds good everywhere in Creation, and thus also for the gross material life here

Without this inner change it would also never be possible to reach the possibility of expiation, which is the necessary condition for liberation from all that is past

This is because the change within man immediately creates a kind of radiation which attracts the homogeneous

To man there is then drawn everything that belongs to him, so that he may free himself through his spirit, become healed and become an enduringly radiant inhabitant of the work of Creation

Expiation is thereby a Lawful happening issuing from the possibility of development bestowed by the Love of God

Therefore it is said that the Love of God is strict and unyielding

This holds good precisely in its demand for the balancing out of all that is past, because therein alone lies for every individual human spirit the possibility of ascent to the luminous home

The Love of God therefore lays in the path of human spirits not what they would wish, but in the first place always that which enables them to free themselves from the threads of fate

It is only a wise following of the Laws of Creation formed out of the Will of God, if man is permitted therein to mature ever more consciously

To be allowed to balance out a previous deviation from the Harmony, where a man perhaps did something evil to other people which brought evil into the world, is a great gift of the Graciousness of God, still for the most part unrecognised by men

The pressure of the Light drives everything forward in the development of the forms, and therein there lie enduringly for every man thousands of opportunities for the expiation of past failings

One single moment of the present often bears in its content to man even several kinds of expiation, and thereby several opportunities for his great progress towards true liberation

The past, or karma as it is also called, can be laid aside in the quickened working of the Laws that are active in the present happening

The slightest stirring within, a flash of thought, or even the smallest deed may have an incalculable value for man, if they are done in the radiance of the all-embracing volition to good, and thus with the inward endeavour to follow the direction in which the Light and the Harmony lead in every moment of the present

Were this at last rightly recognised, men would look forward to every new day which brings them the possibility of progress towards an ever closer union with the great Harmony of the work of Creation

That this does not happen, even with those who have an awareness of God and of His Will working in the work of Creation, is a sign of a closedness towards the transparent comprehension of the simplicity contained in all this

Were this rightly comprehended, every man would look forward to the moments to come, in which the outstretched hand of the help of God would offer itself to his knowing perception through the expiation of something past

Men would also see in it, gradually and ever more, the strengthening of their own abilities to create and to maintain that Harmony with others which has been mentioned

The present pressure from the heights drives everything forward and gives no one a breathing space until all is balanced out and smoothed away in expiation

The Judgment of God, so often mentioned, lies in this, that the greatest part of the wrong that is past must be expiated and laid aside first, before the new comes which holds within itself the permanence of a joyful and uplifting existence

And precisely thereby the historical development in the work of Creation unfolds, and above all in that part of the Subsequent Creation which was formed for this out of the Wisdom of God

All that was formed as the manifestations of man's deviation from the Harmony of the work of Creation needs to be balanced out, it needs to be effaced again through expiation, so that it may become something which will then no longer jut out in the threads as an obstacle braking the streaming of the Good and of the Light

Before mankind there towers a mountain range of past failings and of offences committed against other people

It may be likened to a mighty rampart in which everything seethes and surges in readiness, so that from it the hands of the Alphar may thereafter weave the present for each individual man

And because all this is now quickened by the nearness of the Ray of Parzival, it will fall upon everyone with a visible swiftness such as has never yet been here

A time is approaching which will be very like the earlier experiencing of men, when many passed through history in the ages of great oppressions and wars

Many people need to become aware that every happening taking place on Earth is always a great opportunity to become better through the persevering volition to good and the doing of good, despite the enmity, the wrongs and the pains raging round about

Out of the menacing rampart of past deeds strictly just threads are woven which hasten into the nearness of every man

The threads press in upon him, giving him no rest to draw breath

He bears within himself the free will which he may use so as to stand always purely, with a fervent endeavour to prove himself honourably therein, towards absolutely all the experiencing that flows to him through the threads of the weavers

Thereby everything that comes to him will become a blessing for him

In this time of upheaval no one should expect to be left aside in peace

No one should seek to flee from all this, for in the end he will nowhere hide from his earlier wishes and from the deeds he has carried out

It will beat upon his body and upon his soul until he comprehends that the only possible way rightly to face it is that great all-embracing volition to good in readiness for the expiation of the past, and thereby also for the weaving of all that is to come

The all-embracing volition to good is thereby that which men have hitherto never wished to imagine would become a reality for them

That such a thing would be demanded of them by the Will of God inexorably and unyieldingly, even to the degree of complete submission

But only in that moment when spirit and mind submit to the comprehension that the all-embracing volition to good is the only way to the Light, to the spiritual home, does the pressure of the intellect, which has hitherto called all this into question, suddenly fall away from man

By the intellect it was portrayed merely as folly, as the expression of a self-surrendering defencelessness towards other people who are cunning in thought

But precisely therein lies that great change which is here and which will also soon begin to show itself more and more

This change lies in the fact that all the craftiness of the intellect is now coming to an end

It will show itself as an intensifying impact in the response of the Law of Reciprocal Action

This will of course bring dismay wherever intellectual people have hitherto only laughed at such a thing

And many are laughing even now, for they suppose that none of it takes effect with them in their lives

Let them laugh a little while longer, for very soon a power will come into their experiencing too which they have not known until now and which they have for the most part held to be a part of fairy tales for children

Until now people have for the most part laughed at those who believed that to walk the path of good volition is right

They laughed at them because they had themselves formed the notion that men bear no responsibility for their deeds anywhere but before worldly justice, from which one can often very cleverly escape

Many therefore took into their thinking the assumption that evil cannot be called to account

Now, however, that point in the great historical development is drawing near where all assumptions of this kind will fall

And then every moment will be feverishly used anew by men so that all may be expiated by them in a new volition

If this volition streams forth outwardly as the visible expression of a genuine change of their inner being, then many people may still hold hope within themselves that they will perhaps succeed in time in expiating all that is past through a new experiencing of the present

But for many it will be very hard, for often a great quantity of threads demanding expiation will be pressed by the weavers into one single day

Many a one will perhaps waver under the pressure of it, and he will be constantly threatened with being unable to keep within himself a pure and peaceful attunement and with turning again to evil ways of thinking and acting

For him, however, this would mean only a new burdening and also a further great delay upon the path which demands to be completed, so that he may loose himself from all the threads which hold him in the Subsequent Creation, where the humanly spiritual species is still threatened by the danger of sliding down to those places where it loses its own acquired awareness of itself

All this shows how very important it is that everyone who strives towards the Light and towards God should cleave wholly and perseveringly, with all his power, to the all-embracing volition to good

We are now entering that part of the gross material happening which will bring to many people progress and ascent, while at the same time it will for many be a time of great inward struggles and falls

Therefore no one should remain any longer in a superficial manner of life
