The Working of the Light in the Lives of People

The Light on Earth, at this time, still works for the greatest part on a plane invisible to earthly eyes

It is therefore a kind of working that outwardly, in an earthly sense, can hardly be grasped, and it goes hand in hand with what the ray of the Light is now bringing into the life of man

Among other things, it is precisely this that today leads many people to the superficial conclusion that such a thing as the working of the Light, the working of the Laws of Creation, or the manifesting of the Will of God in human life, does not exist

Millions of people have succumbed to a delusion formed by their own insensitivity to the plane on which the Light works, so much so that today mockery most often falls upon everyone who speaks of his experience with something higher, with something other than merely the material earthly world of matter

Such is the state that prevails on Earth

Unreceptiveness in things which for man, from the standpoint of his spiritual being, are in reality the most important of all

And therefore in the end there will be whole hosts of those who fail to notice the fundamental change in the threads of their fate, when through the impact of the ray of Light they are sifted into those who are still inwardly – spiritually – alive, and those who from the spiritual point of view are expiring, and whose paths in consequence receive a new direction

This is not the result of an unjust working of the Light, as many will then want to cry out in their own defence, but solely the result of the individual human beings themselves, who in the present time allowed themselves, in superficial dullness, to be surrounded by all too dense and rigid thoughts, which drown out the receptivity for everything finer, everything spiritual

Every impact of a ray of Light is always preceded by an earnest call on the spiritual plane

But who among the people of today lends an ear to this call of the inner being and of conscience

Thus every single human being is now being judged in the spirit from out of the Light, without many of them perceiving anything of it in their earthly consciousness during their lifetime

Only a strange tone sounds from time to time through his inner being, a tone in whose echo there resonates a foreboding that something of old, something pure, has been squandered, debased by the manner in which he strives to fulfil his present life

Yet this still applies only to those who are capable of at least a partial inner intuitive perception

And that is something which among people today is rather the exception than a matter of course

In this the earthly world has shifted far downwards, and it keeps moving ever further away from a more living, more wakeful perceiving through the spirit

The Light, in its pressure which is constantly growing stronger, always maintains a noble, delicate transparency in contrast to earthly coarseness, and therefore happenings which for many a spirit are so grave are not outwardly registered at all, are not perceived clearly enough by man in his superficiality for him still to come to his senses and summon all his strength for a change

Only after departing from this earthly world will some feel, and then behold, the whole great shift that has taken place with them

But these will truly be only those who are still able to perceive the planes in the coverings of their souls

They will be the ones who at the last moment still recognize the Light, and it will be granted them at the very last instant to save themselves with a great leap, into which they will have to lay all the strength of their remaining pure intuitive perception, in order to come upwards out of the places where they now find themselves

A great part of the souls, however, will sink motionless into the misty grey distances, only to observe at the very last moment what a glorious gift of life was squandered and lost through their own doing

Those, therefore, who expect that in the happening which is coming loud warnings will first ring out, pointing to the fulfilment of the proclaimed turning point on Earth, and that all this will unfold visibly in earthly dimensions, fashioned into blazing headlines for their shallowly attuned perception – they have not grasped the true nature of the Light

It cannot be comprehensible in its effects to those who have distanced themselves from its nature so far that they no longer perceive even the intuition of their own inner being

The Light has no need now to manifest itself visibly and loudly in ever new warnings to people that the time of the great Turning Point, announced for thousands of years, is now at hand

For many people this would be entirely useless, for the only answer would be their mockery and opposition

Thus the result, which in the end will also appear in earthly matters of a natural and cosmic kind, will itself be the complete conclusion of all the happening from out of the Light

After that nothing more can be changed

It will be the running out, the completion of outward events which, with the delay naturally caused by the density of matter, will bring only the settling of the final affairs of an outward, earthly kind

Everything spiritual will at that moment already have been resolved

Not in vain was it proclaimed to mankind that the Judge of the Holy Judgment will come suddenly and unexpected

This was not announced because He would be unrecognizable until the last moment, but because until the last moment He would remain unrecognized by men

Thus everything is being fulfilled exactly according to these promises, and nothing of it needed to be changed from out of the Light or made more visible to men, for the spiritual foundation of man has carried within itself, from the beginning of its existence, the capacity to recognize everything that comes from the heights of the working of God

For thousands of years people received countless helps, every call and every reminder, so that through their own work upon themselves they might prepare, long in advance, for this time

Parzival Himself, in His grace, extended a helping hand in the most loving way, as only Divine Wisdom and Love, united with Divine Justice, can do in Creation

Parzival came first of all to offer a rescue rope to all who inwardly long for the Light

Now He brings the release of the Judgment in a way that people least expect

Outwardly invisible, the ray of the Light touches the inner being of men, in order to strengthen everything that dwells there and, through its pressure, to compel it to show itself, so that testimony may be given of the worth of the spirit of every single human being

Where there is no receptivity for this ray, a person can feel nothing special beyond this, that a breath of a peculiar kind passes by him for a certain time

Only observe people more closely, and you will see that everyone today has such a conspicuous stretch in his life

No one is exempt from it

If this is so, and this happening applies without exception to everyone, then it applies also in our own case

We too, like the others, are exposed to the same effect of the pressure under the approaching ray of the Light

Even the best knowledge of the Word of Truth plays no protective role in this – rather the contrary, for the recognition of the Holiness of the Ways of God equips the human spirit precisely to awaken wholly to life and to carry lastingly, in wakefulness, a pure perceiving through the intuition

Even if it were only a few days, a few moments, in which a person is surrounded by the pressure of the Light and acts exactly according to what his inner being is – this very time is the most important stretch of his life

The ray unexpectedly draws near to a person and calls forth a happening in which he is to show himself as standing purely in life – towards people, towards nature, the world, and his Creator

The whole of life is therefore to be lived in the wakefulness of spiritual, pure and just conduct, so that this time is not missed, for it comes at the time of our least conscious expectation

One cannot prepare for it consciously, with the intellect, as one can for earthly human tests

The ray comes and works deep into the threads of a person's fate; it strengthens, brings into relief and lays bare everything that lies within the coverings of the spirit

Then everything passes, and life seemingly goes on in the tracks of earthly habit until the moment when the earthly body is laid aside

Only then does the Light work perceptibly enough upon some who, having become sensitive in the finer covering of their soul, begin with horror to recognize the happenings around them

At that moment it is hard to change anything, for everything is then already being carried along by a current too strong, which is hard to withstand

Only the great leap of desperate rescue by those thus awakened receives strengthening from the Light

Whoever cannot bring himself to a decisive stirring of his spirit will not receive this strength

Many, in the weakness and lassitude of their spirit, are no longer capable of it

The stream of expiring sparks flows away quietly, resignedly, into the depths of oblivion

Would that as many people as possible opened their inner being and still recognized how grave the present time on Earth is

Would that as many people as possible understood that honest, just conduct towards all, filled with intuitive perception, is the best rescuing thread, which enables them to pass through this happening victoriously, and which at the same time conveys the possibility of gaining refreshing strength for the true radiance of their spiritual inner being

The Light in its workings constantly conveys helps of an incomprehensible kind

Yet it conveys its gracious help only to those who are willing and able to grasp this help, to accept it with humility, and without further loss of time to transform it into deed

Only in this way can the inner being of man come alive and shine forth to that degree of clear luminosity which makes it possible for helps out of the Light to join in his ascent above the appointed boundary, below which everything flows towards the end of its existence

Let us think on this, and in daily life, in our thoughts, let us grant earnestness only to those things which can bring benefit of the utmost importance to our spirit
