Many people ask how earthman is helped upon his path through the planes of the Subsequent Creation
In particular, people often suppose that upon their earthly pilgrimage filled with hardships and afflictions they receive either no support at all from the higher streams of help, or that this support is only occasional and therefore insufficient for a toilsome life
A great part of mankind therefore also wholly denies that anything higher above this earthly world could exist, since it does not come to them as a visible, tangible or at least strongly perceptible help which would bear witness to the existence of higher worlds
Many then even regard this as a proof testifying that no God exists either
Alas, those who reason thus are a great multitude of people
Yet it is possible to perceive the said helping streams at almost every step, if only earthman would wish to perceive them and if he were also able to attune himself rightly to these kinds of help
What is lacking in earthman, then, is that necessary inner attunement which makes the connection possible
Therein altogether lies the pitfall of many otherwise well-meaning people, because they have lost the capacity of receptivity for anything higher that lies above gross matter
It is precisely the density of the earthly body and especially the ponderousness of the earthly brain, which manifests itself through the intellect and thereby sets itself as an obstacle between the earthly perceiving of man and everything higher that lies above this gross material space
The difficulty which men experience in the impossibility of attuning themselves to the strengthening higher spheres of Creation does not lie in the inaccessibility or the excessive remoteness of the strengthening streams, but in the different kind of vibration in which the life of these planes of Light fulfils itself, and from which men through their dense earthly orientation have removed themselves almost entirely
The influx of strengthening out of the Light is meanwhile always omnipresent here for man
It is the helping influence of vibrations in which inspiration and strengthening lie for everyone, if only he longs in his inner being for the connection with these omnipresent streams of strengthening Light
These streams have been here from time immemorial, they are therefore here today too, and they will with certainty always abide here as long as this part of the universe with the planet Earth endures in its existence as the ground for the life of earthmen
Men also have the peculiar ingrained conception that whoever strives for the connection with the higher planes of Light must for this set out upon a laborious path of spiritual exercises in order to reach up to where these planes lie
The reality, however, is quite different
Everything is far easier and simpler, for the key to it is a childlike joyful trust
We are entirely surrounded by helps which descend like a luminous web, whose ends are close above every man and wait for the moment when he will reach for these connecting links leading upwards, to grasp them with his inner attunement
The connecting links with the Light leading upwards as far as the blessed places of Montsalvat are always around us and offer themselves to everyone, that he may unite with them through his uplifting intuitive perceptions, in which he himself genuinely seeks the higher meaning of his life
In these connecting links, which are usually described as luminous threads, lies the rescue for every man, for if such a man unites with them, the threads at once mediate to him everything needful for the complete strengthening of his spiritual inner being, whereupon he can begin his ascent, however deep in the darkness of this earth he may find himself
If he reaches upwards with his pure intuitive perception through the longing for a higher and nobler existence than the one in which he perhaps finds himself here on earth, the connection is established at once, and thanks to it everything needful can stream to such a man, containing an influx of powers and of helps
It is therefore far simpler than men think to find here on earth the connection with the worlds of the spiritual planes, in which that longed-for harmony and the blessed being of the inhabitants there prevail continually
The connection comes about at once self-actingly as soon as the stirring of intuitive perception needful for it takes place in the inner being of man
Through the said stirring of the inner being everything is joined and is also already fulfilled
Only it is not possible to expect that the manifestations of this connection will show themselves to man at once tangibly and perceptibly to his senses
Everything takes place in vibrations of a finer degree, for which most people today have already lost their receptivity and sensitivity
Although therefore nothing of this is often directly perceptible to man, he may nevertheless be sure that the moment he longs in his life for what is higher and purer, at once, in proportion to the strength and persistence of his wish, the helping powers leading him upwards begin to weave around him
At the beginning, therefore, instead of a groping search for the connection with the Light through his stunted spiritual perceiving, man needs only to lay a childlike trust in the fact that around him there are helps which lead him to ascent, although he perceives nothing and although no upheavals take place around him at once in an earthly way
Even though outwardly, to earthly perceiving, this appears as a trust flung into the void without response, in reality great helps take place at once around the man who in fervent volition longs for a higher and nobler existence
Alas, men orient themselves too much towards the needs of the earthly visible world, and thus not seldom, after some time of an initial genuine volition, their trust falls away and the direction of their volition sinks again to earthly aims, whereby the connection they had already formed is severed
The reality of the happenings described here man will behold only when he enters the finer planes, where a higher sensitivity of the soul for the said connecting threads prevails, and then he often laments over his distrust, to which he succumbed in the density of the earthly world
This pitfall the Son of God – Jesus himself also beheld in many people who listened to his words, and therefore he said: “Blessed are they who have not seen and yet have believed.”
The foundation for everyone who longs to have upon his path help and strengthening from the luminous planes of the spiritual kind is the inner trust in the self-acting, enduring fulfilment of the Law of the Love of God, which therein always works with certainty, for in this Law of God all the planes of Light in faithful service work continually and joyfully downwards towards the lower planes
Out of the gardens of Montsalvat there then streams to this earth everything needful for the complete ascent of the individual and of the whole of mankind to better prospects of life under the conditions here
As has already been said, the said gardens are in their basic division spread out into three primary sections
Thus in a flood of Light we find directly beneath Montsalvat the Garden of the loving-kind weaving, which is also called the Garden of Roses, further the Garden of the faithful service of royal justice, and the third part is formed by the Garden of purity, or also the Garden of the lily blossoms
In these gardens we find everywhere only the glorious, joyfully active service of the inhabitants dwelling there
And in this service there is then self-actingly contained a fulfilling vibration which downwards works magnetically, drawing to itself everything that carries within it a matching consonance with that particular kind of luminous service
It is something so self-evident that at the moment when an observer of these streams may behold how in their golden radiance they descend into the lower places of Paradise, and from there again still lower into the luminous ethereal substances, and then again still further down into the denser grades of matter in the Subsequent Creation, he cannot do otherwise than joyfully extol the Creator, that in such a most natural manner everything in His work of Creation is arranged
The descending streams work magnetically and attractively upon everything spiritual which finds itself scattered in the lower planes, where it rejoices in its being if it is already mature and luminous
Or where it is still only seeking its direction and the meaning of its being, the more spiritually unfinished it is and the lower it also finds itself in the depths of the materialities
Wherever the spiritual may be, it is always woven about by a certain magnetic kind of vibrations which call to it, and in this calling they work in a drawing manner, as when an attracting power draws in everything that is able by its own weight to cleave to this drawing kind of spiritual powers
It is therefore quite otherwise than when men suppose that they themselves fight their way laboriously upwards to the Light
This picture was created by earthly churches and doctrines
This picture wrongly distorts the cycle of the spiritual in the Subsequent Creation, for thereby men have formed for themselves the conception of a hard struggle connected with the ascent upwards to the Light
The opposite is the reality, for from the time when the planes of the Subsequent Creation arose, when the hands of the animistic servants kneaded and shaped the individual parts of the materialities, already at that time the streams mentioned here worked together, so that from the very moment of the immersion of the first spiritual sparks into this part of Creation these were continually drawn upwards by a drawing, strengthening kind of magnetism
And when they are able to stand firm in the power of their spiritual radiance, they will at once be drawn back into the spiritual homeland, for there indeed they belong from the beginning of their being
Thus here in gross matter the needful streams of inspiration and of the exemplary fulfilling of virtues and of joyful, harmonious service always were and always stood with magnetic effect around earthmen
The connection with them is also in reality far simpler than men suppose
In Creation everything is plain and simple and no complications are needed, for the Laws set by the Creator, which bear His primordially eternal Will, have prepared in advance for all creatures a simple path which can easily be mastered, provided that the creatures do not entangle themselves upon it and do not of their own will burden themselves with guilt, which they must always first lay aside if they wish to ascend out of the Subsequent Creation into the spiritual worlds
Thus the brake upon man, hindering him from being naturally drawn by the absorbing stream of inspiring vibrations from the higher places of the spiritual realm, is always only he himself, because his faults and guilt, which cling to the coverings of his spirit, do not allow him to soar upwards easily
This burdening is here on earth still intensified by the earthly intellect, which acts as a brake upon any childlike simple will for ascent
We have already mentioned that it is precisely a childlike all-embracing joy which can always unite man at once with the said streams, or also threads of Light
The said threads never vanish, for at every moment they are again and again quickened by the very being of the inhabitants of the luminous planes in the spiritual regions of Creation
Nor do they lose any of their magnetism, which is always here
The obstacle to the effect of this magnetic power of the streams and threads out of the Light is, in the case of man, his own attitude, which has long been remote from a pure, joyful longing for nobility in his being
At the moment when this rises more strongly to the surface in man, the magnetic power manifests itself at once and can stir the inner being of man into the highest inward happiness, which is the best soil for rousing oneself to the deed
And after this attunement, inspiration proceeding from the places of Montsalvat can hasten to man at once
There may come to him a joyful will for loving-kind dealings with other people, there may flow to him a certain courage for the faithful fulfilment of duties, in which he beholds the meaning of his pure, royal keeping of his pledge, or there may come to him vibrations of pure virtuous being, and this despite all the obstacles which lay themselves in his way in the present condition of the earthly world
This influx at the same time works as a magnet drawing the awakened spirit ever more upwards, home into the regions of Paradise
At the same time there can also flow directly out of the halls of the castle of Montsalvat the heroic courage, power and conviction which belong to knightly activity for the Light
These and many further finer kinds of inspiration step up to man at once, if, thanks to his simple inner attunement of joyful volition, the connection is made possible for him with one of the streams which has drawn near to him on the basis of the Law of the Attraction of Homogeneous Species
At once too the strengthening, absorbing power begins to work, and if man does not himself sever this streaming by re-attuning his thoughts, then through the state of his attunement there can come pictures of examples and models of conduct suited to one of the near situations which are approaching man in his experiencing
The influx is often mighty and can wholly shake the view man has held hitherto of his path in life
Everything hitherto may suddenly appear as a wrong path which led only into straying in the worthlessness of existence
That is also the best moment for a change which can bring the spirit liberation from so many a rigid manner of living
This time is not to be cheaply missed in dreaming and in mere images of thought, but is to be fully and unhesitatingly used for a transformation which may become for man an important turning point upon the path he has walked hitherto in his whole existence
In the magnetic vibration which draws near out of the gardens of Montsalvat, man can draw countless impulses for creativity and for the ennobling of himself and of his surroundings
Especially in relations with other people there is to arise in man a will towards openness and kindly cordiality instead of the closed aloofness which men adopt more and more
Loving-kind benevolence has never yet brought harm to the spirit upon its path
On the contrary, childlike joyful warmth of heart and a will towards harmony have always been what both Sons of God valued most highly in men here on earth
How greatly men lack precisely the connection with the Garden of Loving-Kindness, which mediates a certain childlike trustfulness and at the same time a vibration of pure enthusiasm for every pure thought or deed
The Garden of Roses sends out to men so many strengthening streams, but finds only very few connections with earthly mankind, especially in the present day
Pure and childlike joyfulness is a thing of the past, and only few people are able to hold it within them lastingly as their own possession
Childlikeness is stifled by the noisiness and complexity of thinking, in which men finally grope only in their own world of thoughts, of which at the same time they always vainly suppose that their own thoughts are the most correct and the most valuable of all other human thinking
This is because hand in hand with thinking there always goes conceit and pride in the work of one's own intellect
So it is with almost every man of today, who has appropriated the work of the intellect too tenaciously to his volition
Honour to the exceptions who even today still think and act simply and who also always carry within them enough humility and self-knowledge to see that they are far from knowing anything of the real knowledge of life
Only he who is able to free himself from the intellectual kind of attunement and does not cling to a supposed exceptionality of his own self can still draw near to the vibrations of the Gardens of Loving-Kindness, in which all life unfolds in a joyful and free flowing of happy encounters with the inhabitants of the gardens of the fabled rose bushes, which have no end in their forms and shapes
It is also characteristic that in this garden we find the most spiritual children, who develop in the happy, trustful surrounding of all those who care for them
The highest stewardess of these gardens is gracefully dignified in her beauty, and at the same time there radiates from her a certain kind of childlike ray of simple purity
Her kind is also the foundation out of which, lower in the materialities, there developed the races belonging to people of dark complexion
She herself, however, is of a lighter complexion, yet her kind nevertheless carries a strong childlike vibration, in which like a jewel there gleams the longing-filled bond with the passing on of joy and of pure enthusiasm for all other life
Pure and trustful enthusiasm is also that which vibrates through every corner of this place, which is the Garden of loving-kindness
Trust is in a certain sense inseparable from childlikeness, and therefore we also find it here on earth everywhere where children are still pure, unmarked by intellectual thinking, or not yet touched by impurity and malice
If children or even adults preserve childlikeness within them, then at once there is around them a certain kind of connection with the said places in the Light, where in the nearness of Montsalvat the Garden of Roses lies
Happiness is around them and within them, and they live simply and trustfully towards all the other wondrous weaving in Creation
The said trust is therefore not meant as a trustfulness unconditionally granted to the varied, often ugly and evil conduct of other people here on earth, but this trust is to be laid vividly by every man first of all into the relation towards the Creator and towards all who serve Him unreservedly, such as the animistic servants, the angels and the spiritual servants who dwell in the luminous heights
Trust too in the victory of the Light under all circumstances of man's passage through life is precisely that confirmation of the true childlikeness of the spiritual kind
Strong strengthening may flow to everyone who strives to awaken within himself this pure trust towards God and His eternal Laws
With a loving-kind caress there may come a strengthening which is a reflection of the happy flowing of life in the Garden of Roses
Of the Garden of Roses much could be said, and therefore a separate discourse will yet be devoted to its kind
Now it is possible to mention only the most basic things, so that we may devote ourselves also to the other two gardens
Let us therefore now proceed further in today's description
If men make childlikeness their own in their conduct and are able to stand in complete accord of their trust with all the helps which are around them, then only will the connection with every kind of service to the Light be able to awaken in their inner being
This service we find precisely in the Garden which is filled with blue blossoms of various shades, connecting this place with a royal kind of radiation
In this garden we find joy bound up with a certain royally sublime fulfilment of duties
In contrast to the Garden of Roses it is possible to perceive here more earnestness, which is bound up with the awareness of the high mission of this service
At the same time there is here not a trace of stiffness or of exaggeration, but we again find here a fresh, joyful harmony
The women who dwell here predominantly as noble handmaidens of the royal mission mediate onward into the other planes a wise deliberation for all that is part of the leading of others and of the quiet guiding of events in the lands of all worlds
That is the chief, yet not the only kind of service which is fulfilled here, for an inseparable part of it is the faithfulness in service already mentioned, which manifests itself as pure devotion to a higher will
Only in the Light do we find this kind in living fulfilment, without its leading to a lack of independence and to the denial of one's own will
In the materialities, where we find various degrees of maturity and of immaturity, this high kind of faithfulness cannot always be demanded unconditionally, for the human spirits who find themselves here cannot take up the position of unconditional surrender into the service of another
The distance of the materialities from the Light demands a vigilant independence in intuitive perception towards everything that takes place here in the materialities
Out of the conduct of man personal responsibility is always formed, and therefore in the materialities the thoughtless subordination of one man to another cannot be demanded
Whoever demands anything of the kind from another man by force oversteps the boundaries of his possibilities, and such conduct also inscribes itself into his own threads of fate, which he will one day be compelled to lay aside in reciprocal experiencing before the Laws of Creation make ascent upwards possible for him
In the luminous gardens, where complete crystal clarity prevails in everything, this surrender into the service of the higher is on the contrary something precious and is exemplary as the continuation of the fulfilment of the said trust towards God and His Will working in the Laws of Creation
In the Garden of faithful service we also find men and spiritual, developing children
Their tasks are again all-embracingly manifold and work among other things as inspiration for the spiritual human sparks which in distant materialities seek strengthening for their development
The third garden is more for itself and belongs purely to the support of the womanly kind of activity
Its mission is the receiving and the mediating of the streams of the Pure weaving which vibrates through the whole work of Creation from the highest spheres down to the deepest places which these streams may still reach in their blessing
These gardens are connected with the island of the Lilies in Primordial Creation, and through this island also with Irmingard herself, from whom comes the radiation bringing the coolly refreshing vibration of the Purity of God
Out of these gardens there flow to earthly womanhood many strengthening luminous streams, which at once uplift and strengthen every stirring of the inner being of a woman striving for the unfolding of the pure virtues of the spiritual mission of the womanly weaving in Creation
Blessed are these gardens, and through their glorious places there permeates a refreshing peacefulness and the gentleness of the noble harmony of womanly delicacy and radiance
Whoever has once united with these places will carry forever in his inner being a breath of the deep vibration of the greatness and crystal clarity of the Light of God in its purity and brightness
As with the previous gardens, so with this one too it is possible to unite in the inner being
It is easier than many imagine, because in the inner being of each of men there lies the key to these places
This key is the intuitive volition for the true, pure being of man, that is, of the spiritual being inhabiting the work of Creation
Nothing more is needed for it, provided of course that we reckon as the indispensable foundation a deep inward stirring to unite with these places lying high in the Light
May as many people as possible be able to unite through their intuitive perception with the luminous threads which in faithful service to God incline towards the planes of this earthly world for its strengthening and for its irradiation with purity and love
