Among men who long to penetrate the coverings of the mystery of that which shapes their way through life there has reigned from ages past the endeavour to know what mechanism sets it all in motion, and above all how to incline its running more favourably towards themselves
Many men who occupy themselves with the questions of life are nevertheless, in spite of their utmost striving, still unable to discern how everything that influences the pilgrimage of man on Earth unfolds within the great life-bearing machinery of Creation
That is because here on Earth whole parts of the true knowledge of the happenings bound up with those planes of the work of Creation which lie above the boundary of gross materiality have long been lacking
The gaining of the said knowledge of what lies above gross materiality is made possible only for those who carry within themselves the needed disposition for it
For even the most basic part of the said perfection of the working machinery of the work of Creation to be grasped, there is lacking on Earth today, together with a childlike pure openness, well-nigh everything
The first and also the most fundamental obstacle in this investigation is with many men the refusal of the fact that the basic threads of fate always of necessity come out of the past, and that only through the present in which they now stand is there formed, on the ground of their experiencing, that which will be able, or rather which will have to, come at some later time
Such is the true reality, for so it is ordained by the Laws of Creation
In this Truth within Creation no human endeavours to evade or to deny it can change anything
Nevertheless men still do so, to their own great harm
Many seek to crowd it out of their thinking, for they rightly sense that it would have to bring them to thoughts quite other than those directed only upon the material world, with which they toil along in the supposition that it is meant to be so and that it is right
Briefly put, a great part of mankind refuses the needful knowledge that their own way was already unfolding before their incarnation upon this Earth
It is therefore never true that for man everything begins only with the awakening to brain consciousness at the time of the forming of the earthly fruit in the body of the mother
Every man has his past, inseparable from that which penetrates into his life and thereby with its influence drives him, presses him and moves him onward
This past often encompasses a truly very long stretch of the being of the spiritual spark, for upon this Earth there have already for whole centuries incarnated only such souls as are in some way bound to the earthly world out of past incarnations
It is precisely out of these paths that there returns to a man, into his life on Earth, that which he must of necessity take up through experiencing in an earthly body, so that he may advance further in his spiritual development
Whoever refuses this important part of knowledge, namely that before the present earthly birth
there was always a past which in some way reaches into the present, can never rightly take up the understanding of the Just Laws of Creation which manifest therein
Therefore all those men who build their understanding of life only upon this one life and nothing more are excluded in advance from the comprehension of many happenings that take place in a human life
That they thereby deny something higher in their own being, many men for the present do not wish to admit to themselves, only because it seems to them more comfortable so
Yet with a little more earnest reflection it would have to bring them all at once to a joyful awakening, for together with it there would open for them a higher comprehension of the concept of the Justice of God which reigns in all the weaving of human lives
Let us leave aside men who think so rigidly and go further
We shall then find yet those who do accept the knowledge of the past, but who even so very often waver and thereby doubt the perfect Justice working in all of this through the Laws of Creation
The doubting comes as a rule at the moment when things of an unpleasant kind unexpectedly appear before a man in his life
The endeavour to deny that such a thing happens because something out of the past is returning is a proof of immaturity, for therein it shows that such a man is evidently not yet so truly great and pure as he himself might perhaps wish to be
But the taking up of this knowledge sets free, and it should always be a ground for awakening the will to bear it all and to face it with a volition for good, for that is the one right and possible way out for everything that ever befell men and befalls them still
In the returning of the past the perfect Justice of God is not lacking, for it weaves out of the past, or brings into a human life that to which the soul itself, still before incarnating, freely pledged itself as its own task in earthly life
That this afterwards, in life amid the conditions of gross materiality on Earth, often shows itself as hard and painful should then lead to a still stronger awakening of the spiritual spark, which has the strength to unite itself with the ever-present helping Power of God
Only through the awakening of the spiritual spark in man and through its connection with the Power of God may there then join themselves to him the helps which sooner or later will bring a way out and liberation
But because for long millennia these matters have not been spoken of sufficiently among men on Earth with a wise knowledge of the true meaning of human life, it leads in the end many men, who do recognise a little, nevertheless to waver in their grasp and acceptance of the great lawfulnesses in Creation
Through their doubting they then all too quickly lose the thread along which they could go in order to recognise that nothing happens without ground and cause
The work of Creation is a book in which it is given to man to read calmly and clearly, if only he wills it
Nevertheless there often reigns therein more confusion than that clarity which alone makes easier the right straining of the forces of the spirit in his striving towards the Light
The present time of an ingrained and rigid materialistic understanding of the world distorts the seeing of the threads of the past even for those men who honestly strive after it
In everything there stand in the way many layers of thought-forms bearing within them reflections wholly deviating from the Truth, to which for example belong the notions that men in their development can incarnate now into a human body and at another time into that of an animal
Such reflections lead only to the complete confusion of all earnest seekers, who deep within perceive intuitively that between the animal soul which quickens the body of the animal and the spiritual spark in man there lies a difference as vast as the heavens
But that is not all
Besides this, men are not able to discern how in all the weaving of the threads of fate the free will of man can also still manifest, which is nevertheless the most proper and also the most important gift with which man was endowed by the Creator
For most men there are simply many unknowns to which they have no answers
That is why the state on Earth is as it is
We stand in a dreadful ignorance concerning important things, where the clarity of an ever-unfolding knowledge should long since have reigned
The free will in the deciding of man remains his sovereign gift granted him by the Creator
Under all circumstances it holds that the spiritual kind, to which man belongs in Creation, carries inseparably within it the capacity of free decision
The question of how the free will of men can be exercised amid all the flowing of the threads of fate out of the past is therefore not a wrong one, and it has its place for the elucidation of many events
But one must come to this gradually, because to describe everything at once would cause only obscurity, and that is always harmful
The free will in deciding which man bears within himself influences a great part, indeed the whole of human life on Earth, and further also all his subsequent being in all the planes of the work of Creation
Beside this free will, however, there is always also all that which, beyond man's own capacity of decision in the present, comes out of past paths and forms the initial conditions of the kind of where and into what circumstances a man is born, and all that comes across his path in childhood, when he himself still has but little influence in determining how things in his life will develop
It is precisely this that creates for many men the impression of injustice, for thereby there show themselves great differences in the conditions in which the way of a human life begins
Whether it be bodily health, family circumstances, background, education and many further things which reach into the conditions of the birth and the development of a child, it always calls forth great questions as to how it is possible that one is born here and another elsewhere
Sensitive men perceive that in this too there must be some order, and that if the Justice of the Laws of Creation is to hold good in its whole perfection, then in this also there are no chance occurrences and no disorder
This alone should lead to the knowledge that if the Justice of God holds good in all things, then these conditions which await a man on Earth are the manifestation of something past, shaped precisely by wise ways as the continuation of the already existing path of the individual human being
One part of these conditions is given through the animistic working, and the other part manifests through human spirits, who always have some important task therein
With both the human spirit incarnated on Earth will meet in some form
In the case of the animistic he need never fear that it is a matter of injustice if something returns to him by way of their working
In the case of other men, a man is then in part given over to the influence of the free will of those who are led to him by the threads of the Alphar, so that with them he may lay aside something of the past through living it through
He himself then also works upon these other men with his own free will
And precisely out of this there arise on Earth the greatest confusions and misunderstandings as to how that great Wisdom of the Will of God actually works
Yet everything is simple
*Through the hands of the weavers of the threads of fate the Will of God shapes the opportunities which must come as the consequence of something past*
Individual men are brought to one another, whether through birth or through some guidance in life
But how the manner of the laying aside of the past threads will unfold between them is placed entirely into their free will
The assumption from the Light was always that men would endeavour to do only good to others
Through the dulling of intuitive perceiving, and also through the influence of the temptation of Lucifer, there entered however into the use of the free will of men that, instead of laying aside the past in a mutual experiencing, men gave and still give rise, through their inclination to error or even in conscious evil, to new threads of fate, which the Vaenen, as servants working consistently within the Laws of Creation, weave out of their volition, their thinking and their deeds
It is therefore needful, for the sake of understanding, to recognise that into the experiencing of the present there always reach, in a certain sense side by side, the threads out of the past, and that where these concern relations between men the free will of men necessarily works in it all as well
Therefore it holds that out of something small, which could easily have been lived through in joy very swiftly in some symbolic form between two or several men, given their good and pure volition, there may then in the end arise a new knotting of heavy threads which will again demand a living-through in a future time
With a good volition the free will of the men concerned would be a wholly helping factor, for out of the meetings prepared in advance by the Alphar there could arise only a mutual blessing
But if the free will of one man, or even of several of those concerned, calls into life a volition which manifests as ignoble conduct towards others, then everything will of necessity have to go along new paths in the strict following of the woven threads
Instead of the untying and the laying aside of threads, and thereby the experiencing of a joyful liberation, new threads then arise which again bind human souls to the necessity of a laying aside through experiencings which will have to come
In this, however, no one need altogether lose heart at the thought that he will have to meet again those who caused him much bitter experiencing amid hardships
The Wisdom of God places into the hands of every man yet one more great equipment by which he may loose himself from all that is past along paths far brighter than a renewed experiencing
This equipment is the capacity for a complete inner forgiveness for the pain and the suffering that arose, on the part of those to whom it happened
The inward forgiveness on the part of him who forgives is at once mirrored in his threads, shines through them and grants them either a complete liberation or at least a laying aside in some symbolic manner, whereby help may also come to him who is still struggling within himself with the capacity to forgive other men
Thereby the threads are then so shone through that they fall away entirely
The spirit is freed from it and can wander on by brighter paths upwards to the Light
It fares otherwise with the man who caused the pain and who has not yet of himself lived it through as his own fault to such a degree that he asks for forgiveness
He will then be led by the threads of the Alphar perhaps to entirely strange human spirits, who through their homogeneity will enable him to experience just that which he needs
And out of this there at once unfold new circumstances in which the danger is built up that through the free will of these strange spirits harm and suffering will arise for him, if they do not master their task of a loving acceptance and through some conduct cause him new suffering
So it happens not only to individuals, but it fulfils itself in exactly the same way in the relations between nations, between religions and in the end among all the most varied groups of men, in which the state of maturity of the majority always decides
The hands of the weavers can then do nothing but form once more the conditions in which in the end no one will feel well, for the wrongly used free will of the one may at any moment be the cause of a new wrong committed against the other
Here on Earth it then appears as the necessity of ever-returning tensions, clashes and wars among men
In reality, however, it would be very simple to free oneself from it all
The strength for the liberation of all the human spirits brought to one another in the most varied ways rests in the awakening of loving-kindness and of a pure justice in the dealing with all men
Whoever is able to let a pure volition awaken within himself carries within him the precondition for the ending of all suffering and pain
The ending of the chain of the threads of the past, endless until then, will be brought about through his pure volition, and thereby the beginning of the fulfilment of a complete liberation will be able to be set
The condition for this is patience and openness towards the Power of God, which alone can so quicken everything that the liberation arrives as soon as possible
By its inflowing to the individual man and to nations the Power of God makes it possible to bring about a quickened laying aside of all the threads, so that a way out of the need may be found
It is a simple process, which nevertheless holds hidden within it a wondrous happening in the weaving of the threads of fate through the hands of the Alphar
Everyone can be set free, if he earnestly and truly longs for it
Thus precisely today the discharge of heavy threads stretching far back into the past threatens over many men and over many nations
The way out is not preparation for battle, but solely a complete connection with the Power of God, through which a wondrous overcoming of all past wrongs and sufferings can come
Alas, the immaturity of men is a great obstacle to such a thing coming to pass already today
The strengthening pressure of the radiation of the Light out of the Ray of Parzival offers, as a last Grace of God, the freeing of oneself from the binding of all the threads of the past
It needs, however, to be used immediately and without long hesitation, for every delay today brings nearer those happenings which in the end must bring the discharge of the threads through heavier kinds of experiencing
The way out is the opening of the spiritual inner being in fervent prayer in as great a number of men on Earth as possible
Through the childlike trust that rests therein there may still come at the last moment a deliverance out of many a tangle of heavy threads of fate
Whoever is able rightly to discern this within himself and also to accept it as the way to find liberation for himself and for other men from all the approaching hardships can be victorious over it
Today we stand in a time when through the nearness of the Ray of Parzival everything is quickened in an unheard-of manner
Thus that for which a long time of ripening would otherwise hold good is compressed into the short span of a single life
Thereby the events grow greatly compressed, and all this in the end creates a pressure upon human deciding in the demand for the use of one's own free will
Thus on many levels many threads can be laid aside by man, if he keeps within himself the right attunement of a pure and good volition
Towards this he is to strive, in spite of the stormily surging waves of unrest
Knowledge that brings enlightenment can thus be a great help for many men who earnestly ask what is now happening
Yes, now the threads out of the past begin to return ever more swiftly to all men
Whether it be good or not, it comes to be lived through
The strength of victory then rests in this, that the free will in man remains permanently under the rule of the good volition of the spiritual inner being
Only therein rests the possibility of standing the test and of gaining new experience for one's spiritual inner being
Therefore, so that all men who strive for good may stand the test therein, it must be added that never has the all-helping Power of God been so near to men upon this Earth
Anyone can unite himself with it in every moment
It is conditioned neither by knowledge nor by belonging to any religion
It is in proportion to the radiant aliveness of the awakened spiritual inner being
The only condition is an inner pure trust in the helping working of this Power from God
Blessed are they who without ceasing use this power in the right manner solely for the volition of an all-embracing good
They will attain the state of inner fulfilment, whether here still in earthly gross materiality or in the planes to which they will then be raised by the Laws of Creation after their departure from this Earth
In proportion to the purity of the volition of the human spirit all this will come in the effects of the fulfilling Justice of God
