The Unsuspected Abilities of the Human Spirit

No human being is so given over to his fate and to all the influences here on earth that he could change nothing in them for the better

Such is never the case for anyone in the work of Creation

Nothing of the kind holds good, therefore, for the human spirit itself either

Help out of God's Loving-Kindness watches over each one, so as to send him all that is needed to free himself from any baleful influence of the threads of fate, and from the influence of other people as well, if only he inwardly calls for this help

Liberation, progress and ascent out of the baleful threads of fate, in which man has often beforehand entangled himself of his own accord, will always come to him with certainty, if only he strives earnestly for the ascent

Through genuine volition towards the good and the pure he can, together with courage, face victoriously all that is adverse

It may even be said that in the very nature of the humanly spiritual species the victory over all things is always contained, provided only that man rightly uses all the spiritual abilities and gifts bestowed upon him by his Creator

By right use is meant the courageous striving for a pure life filled with good, a life sounding in unison with the great Harmony of the work of Creation

Courage, pure intuitive perceiving, striving for the good, and accord with the whole of the work of Creation – these are those great abilities resting within the human spirit

Every human being has them laid within himself, and it is just these that he needs to have at hand as soon as he longs to walk the paths leading upwards to the Light

The greatest hindrance to the full use of these great abilities and gifts is so often only he himself, for he is all too fond of regarding himself as weak, and also as an innocent victim of the outer world

In every case, however, this is something wrong, which only cripples those abilities

And it is precisely such a perceiving of oneself as a victim in relation to the surrounding world that at the same time closes off to man the inflow of all the helps that stand ready for him

The forces of a helping kind, bestowed as a gift out of the Divine for his victory over all evil, must then flow away from him, for they were not given to the spirit that he should squander them upon a hopeless self-pity, nor upon lamenting over himself, which never leads to a rousing towards a new path

In such an attunement all the precious forces, which would otherwise stand faithfully at his side, then necessarily flow swiftly away from him

And alas, it is today taken quite for granted that to a great part of mankind life appears hard, full of hardships and conflicts

Yet something of the kind only confirms the general ignorance of people today concerning the fundamental spiritual abilities dwelling in the spiritual spark

These abilities are not given primarily for battle, but they enable the spirit to attain that it stands always on the side of the Harmony of the work of Creation, thus on the side of the Light, or, put otherwise, in accord with the Will of God

If man stands on this side, then he always has with him all that is needed, all that helps him, that protects him, and that in a certain sense also serves him

As has already been said, it is in reality nothing other than that such a person, rightly recognising the power of his inner being, uses it only for pure volition, and thereby always finds himself in accord with the whole, which can lead his paths only to a victorious goal

It is therefore his inner will and its power, and if this is rightly used and directed towards accord with the great Harmony, which proceeds from the Will of the Creator, then it makes ready for the spirit the path to liberation from all the hardships of life

Through its striving for wholeness of harmony the spiritual essence of man shapes for itself the path to the Light

But that is not all, for in that moment much that is invisible stands on man's side, strengthening him in this striving through its work and enabling him to pass through all events as one who through his life ever more reaps only the endowments of spiritual greatness and wisdom

Mention has already been made of the animistic helpers, who are always near to man, ready to help him pass through all happenings by the way of right decisions alone

For this, too, more than one spiritual helper is always at hand for earthman, one who through a gentle admonition in the intuitive perception and in the conscience directs him towards conduct of a nobler kind

Many indeed know this already, for they have been able to read of it in many places in the Work the Grail Message

It may therefore be said that around everyone who today truly longs for the Light and for Good there is a great multitude of helping hands and forces in many places of the work of Creation

Helps of a great spiritual and animistic kind stand above the earth

These, and many further helps of a partial kind, are always here, at every moment and in every place where man finds himself, and they are at hand at once, if only he longs to become aware of something of them for himself and inwardly, fervently seeks connection with them

And this is just where many come to grief, for people do not endeavour to cleave to this helping kind through the luminous helpers, and thus, in the very moments of greatest need, they close themselves to all that could come to their aid in their distress

In such moments most people try either to resist and to fight only for themselves, without inwardly calling with the will of their spirit for accord with the forces of the Light, or else they regard themselves as victims of some injustice, and thereby, exactly as in that resisting and fighting, they cut off the needed connection with the help of God and with the hands that mediate this help

The ability of the spirit, which through its will can always seek accord with the Light and in inward prayer can thus be surrounded by many helps that would aid it at any moment, is crippled

And yet precisely in the present time this help, in the inflow of the Light to the earth, stands so very near to all people who strive for good and hold pure thoughts towards their fellow-men

Everything is more than favourably disposed for the spirit to become aware of its abilities, which rest in the intuitive volition, and to begin to use them fully and rightly

The intuitive volition needs to swing, in its approach to life, in the fulfilment of those ways of dealing with others which Jesus named in the beatitudes

Only in accord with these beatitudes does the true spiritual power of man gain in significance, and also in effectiveness, for the victory over all things

Also only in this kind of swinging can all the helpers sent to him by the Light stand at man's side effectively and readily

Whether it be the Aglami or the Alphar, these servants who help the human spirit on its way can take a supporting part only when man himself endeavours to go forward courageously, joyfully and purely

But where a state of helplessness dwells, where the feeling of being an unjustly used victim persists long in the thoughts, or where, on the contrary, an over-tension towards zealous combat blazes in man, leading even to fury and fanaticism, there all the helps of God remain standing aside, and such a human spirit remains alone, because according to the Laws of Creation it cannot be otherwise

All this works entirely automatically, exactly as the belts of a great gear-work either run or stand still

The gear-work of the Laws of Creation, which brings everything to man as help and shapes the ways out of the most varied difficulties, needs to be kept in motion through the purest volition of man's inner being

Could they but once behold it, people would recognise at once how greatly they err in great things, but also in small ones, and even in the very smallest matters bound up for them with everyday life, when they cut themselves off from all favourable forces and helps by leaving the abilities of pure spiritual volition lying fallow within them

Everything runs in the greatest Justice within the great gear-work, in which all is arranged for man at once according to his own attunement in every moment of the present

Not a single second is left out without being woven onward into the future time of the human fate

The fabric of the threads is spun by the hands of the Vaenen, so that every flicker of the spirit's volition may receive its due

From this it should be clearly comprehensible to everyone how even a momentary ill humour decides the further course of his path

The liveliness, and at the same time the rigorous exactness, of all the radiation entering into the threads would fill with amazement anyone who suddenly beheld it, and would at the same time compel in him a lasting silence in his so frequent complaining about his fate

It leads the one who sees to pray that people might one day also be permitted to behold it, for it would lead more than one to a complete awakening in his relation to God and to His Justice filled with Loving-Kindness

They would also marvel that they had not long since recognised it of themselves, for they would discover that their inner being, through the conscience, was admonishing them to just such thinking and acting as keeps that gear-work, through a pure and living kind of forces, in a motion favourable to them

The great abilities of the spirit are in fact quite simple abilities

They are also permanently at hand for everyone who longs that his life should unfold purely, in a creativeness full of peace, throughout the whole time of his being here on earth

That inner vibration of the spirit which remains open to all that is pure, joyful and courageous, to all that makes human life a true life – that is the greatest ability resting in the spiritual foundation of man

If he gives all his actions a lastingly higher, nobler meaning, and if throughout his life he seeks in all things the answers to the questions of his connection with that which lies above this materiality, then he will surely one day recognise these abilities that he bears within him, and will quickly learn to use them

It is only that people today have forgotten these abilities and struggle through life in a wholly haphazard manner of wishes and deeds insufficiently perceived intuitively within

Yet nothing that springs from chance can serve man for long, and so the brief periods of earthly success, lasting for a time, often collapse suddenly for many, without their recognising the essence of it, that the cause of the collapse and of the destruction of their own happiness is for the greatest part they themselves

Whether it be peacefulness in the family, the upbringing of children, employment, health, contentment and success in earthly things, in all of this it is always man alone, and he alone, who stands as the determiner of the development

Why do people not occupy themselves with this more deeply

It would swiftly bring them to the recognition that in their hands there always rests that lever which drives the movement of things and governs the weaving-loom of their life's fate

The Vaenen obey their spiritual volition to the letter and weave from it exactly that which issues outwards from the inner being of man

They do so because by the very nature of their appointment they must do so

And what the Vaenen weave into the threads of radiation the Alphar must in turn transpose into forms and happenings

Herein lies a great power, provided the spiritual inner being is all-embracingly set towards pure and good volition

Man should reflect rightly upon this, for much important knowledge lies hidden therein for him

If a living striving towards all-embracing good is lastingly set within man, then this good must one day come to him as something already permanently abiding on his path

Whether here or in the ethereal planes, one day it must come

That is the Law of God in which Creation works for every person who holds to the right direction, thus to the direction of striving for good, regardless of whether others tempt him and dissuade him from it

In the human world there is no greater power than the volition for good radiated out by the spiritual inner being

Many would discover that until now they had only been foolishly turning in a circle, finding no way out of this circle, into which they had earlier been cast by other people, by parents, educators, companions and many other fools succumbing to evil, who suppressed in them the awareness of the enduring existence of the highest Justice of God, and also the spiritual ability to conquer all baseness

They would swiftly recognise in how many things they had hitherto erred, and would also see how everything can still be set right at the last moment through a change in their approach to life and to their fellow-men

In a single moment they would then become, in the true sense of the word, new men, making use of their real spiritual abilities, which had only long slumbered unused within them

Everything is set by the Wisdom of God for man in a merely helping way upon this path of the great recognition of the connections which illumine the working of the lawful activity of the gear-work of the threads of fate

It is therefore quite incomprehensible why there are so many who bring upon themselves such a lawful development in the effect of the laws of Creation that they will no longer be granted the possibility of returning to this earth

The earth will soon rise higher and will become unattainable for many souls upon their low ethereal plane

This is something so grave that people ought to occupy themselves with it very earnestly

The earth will become unattainable for many souls for a renewed birth, which is so important for the laying aside of earlier wrong decisions that had some visible, tangible expression in the gross matter of the earthly world

In their negligence they are endangered in their further development by the coming happenings in the part of Ephesus

And no one else will bear the responsibility for it but they themselves

Through their own approach to life, and through the lasting ill attunement they harbour towards their fellow-men, it is they alone who bring upon themselves their own condemnation through the inflexible expression of the Justice of God

It is not the consequence of something outward working against their life, but solely and only the necessary expression of a contemptuous rejection of the use of the spirit's abilities in a living approach to life, and therewith a refusal of the possibility of being bestowed by God

Where a true, fervent knowledge of the human spirit concerning the Creator, concerning the Holy God, prevails, there a warm enthusiasm for life will always blaze, one that does not for a moment lack fellow-feeling with other people and with all creatures

But where this compassion is absent, and also the ability to seek the ways of good, there that very essence of humanity, which until now made him a creature for whom the blessing of God and the patience of God held good in every respect, has with the greatest certainty already perished in man, or will soon perish altogether

That, however, cannot hold good without end

Where what was given as a dowry to every humanly spiritual spark at its birth to consciousness is not rightly turned to account, there in the end the withdrawal of this gift will come

The withdrawal of the gifts of the spirit, and therewith the loss of conscious being, is fulfilled automatically, as the consequence of a previous contempt for this gift

People have no inkling of the length of time lying in that line of development which unfolded for them in the ancient periods of the awakening and ripening of their own spiritual essence, when the spirit, in coverings of an ethereal kind, gained in the blessed regions of the luminous gardens its first knowledge of the splendour of the work of Creation

The patience contained therein is, measured by the patience of earthmen, immeasurable

Thousands of hands of servants willing in faithfulness to God took care that the first-awakened spirit should develop as far as the point where it needed to enter the worlds of gross matter in this or that world-part of the Subsequent Creation

And now, at the end of this path, in the Judgment of God, he himself proves to be an extinguished spark, which through its own striving, truly under all circumstances and in spite of the many helps granted from the Light until then, sinks into the depths of oblivion

Is that not reason enough to rise up at the last moment against the earthly rigidity of thought and to do everything for the quickening and the awakening of one's own spiritual inner being, which for the greatest part is already ripe

Only in movement can the great abilities resting in the human spirit unfold

Only these abilities, when they are rightly used, make earthly life meaningful

They open the ways to the attainment of true freedom

Whoever does not use these abilities of the intuitive perception remains, for all the rest of the life in the work of Creation which lies above this gross matter, only a crippled creature and thus incapable of movement

Here he does not yet quite observe it, because the arrangement of the earthly world has hitherto blurred this difference, but as soon as he leaves the earthly bodily covering it will at once begin to show itself

Yet even now, here on earth, it will begin to show itself, and people lacking the ability of intuitive perception and the compassion arising from it will soon be recognised as those who harm this world through their inability to maintain accord with the Harmony of the work of Creation

To them this world too will soon be closed, and therefore they will not be able to return to this earth for the continuation of their important developmental stages of ascent

What may perhaps still appear to the superficial, material man as a reason for a smile may however soon become the dreadful recognition of an unalterable reality

An inward experiencing will surround man for a while in a certain vibration, either to glow through him and raise him up, if further spiritual being is granted him, or in an icy breath to mark him as one whose spiritual name is hastening towards erasure from the book of Life

So long, then, as today is still the day in which man can change something in this, he should not hesitate for a moment, and in the most fervent volition of his inner being he should strive for the awakening of his abilities of pure intuitive volition

In these abilities of the spirit there rests a great power for the liberation of one's own path and for the transformation of the whole world for the better
