The Transformation of the Weight of Gross Materiality Into a Blessed, Grace-filled Gift

Above this earth there now hovers a promise from the Light bearing within it a great prospect of the building up of a new life

The promise is so near that it may soon be expected as an enlightenment of mankind appearing and manifesting itself in many places

It will bring at last a joyful upsurge for all who are inwardly pure men

Because all this is already so very near, it is therefore needful to point out yet one further place which still causes a certain weakening of the needed flowing of all the refreshing forces contained in the promise of the Light into this space of gross materiality here

This weakening place is the estrangement of spiritually inclined men from the joyful acceptance of the gift – to be permitted to live upon this earth in the present time of great changes

There is a great number of men who, after having gained knowledge of the spiritual worlds irradiated by light, often perceive this place of life in gross materiality as a burden which with its weight fetters them in their dreamed-of flight towards joyful experiencing

Therefore they fasten a great part of their strength upon the expectation of their future sojourn outside this earthly space

Precisely in the ranks of the readers of the work the Grail Message this phenomenon is found all too often

It has already become something that may be expected almost as a rule when one meets men who hold the Grail Message in their hands

However many forms and manifestations this may take, in the end that estrangement from the naturalness of living here on earth almost always shows itself

Honour to all those exceptions, which may be regarded as shining jewels of hope

They are the promise of new prospects offering a change for the better

With the greatest part, however, it is nearly always the same

These men, who have taken into themselves a higher knowledge of the work of Creation, look upon earthly life as a place unfit for the application of their values, and therefore, apart from isolated moments, they feel lost for the greater part of the time of their earthly incarnation

Not seldom they also consider themselves to be those who are unfit for this world, which in their perception is merely superficial and corrupt, and they expect that when one day they may leave the shell of the gross material body here, they will surely be drawn upwards high into the luminous regions, where only then a just appreciation of the value of their radiant spirit will take place

Such is the attitude to life of many men who have been permitted to draw near to a higher knowledge of the other planes of the work of Creation

In the setting of their thinking they flee all too often to an idealism lying outside the conditions here

Such a thing, however, is always only to the harm of themselves, but no less is it to the harm of the high spiritual values which the work the Grail Message contains and which these men always represent for their fellow men in their lives

However much this is not to be taken as though these men were in any way bad, for many surely bear within them a genuine longing to strive towards the Light, yet at the same time it is an entirely wrong conception of the grace-filled gift of their earthly life

It is the sign of a certain helplessness which is confessed by such an attitude towards life on earth

To live here on earth means to accept everything which gross materiality, and the world of men proceeding from it, offers for further ennobling

No one here is forsaken, no one remains without helps for his life on earth

On the contrary, it may be said that the helps of the Light fervently surround everyone who strives for a pure life and who in his daily activity conveys to this world in a natural way the values of the Light

The very fact alone that through many helpers working out of the Light it is made possible for man, under their careful guidance, to attain a knowledge which he may perhaps meet with for the first time on his path of spiritual maturing precisely in the gross material world and take as his own, is a sign of the great Love of God, and such a man should therefore see in it only a great confirmation of how he is helped from the Light with the utmost care here on earth also

It should therefore lead such men to the simple awareness that the earth too is a supremely valuable place, where the human spirit has a wide field of activity and where he also receives from his God countless helps, so that he may live through here a fully valuable period of his existence

That the Light here on earth too has a lastingly victorious influence upon all the pure striving of men who seek the right way to the Creator

The flowering abundance of earthly life offers every day a multitude of small and great moments for manifesting a joyful and hope-filled encouragement towards this world and towards the men living in it, as a thankful turning to account of the higher knowledge which man has here been permitted to receive

Walking with open gaze, man could therefore observe everywhere around him how he is led by the omnipresent call of visible and invisible helps to the alert courage to fulfil that great task which lies in the words: "Only in the joyful experiencing of today's present is tomorrow's better world created"

In the attunement in which all strength is directed into a simple and trustful rejoicing in the better days that are surely approaching upon this earth, and in which man also puts his own hand to the work so that all this may come, lies the turning to account of all knowledge of the Laws of Creation

That is the right way for the human spirit to fit himself into his task here on earth

Every man who may walk upon the earth has here, from the standpoint of the higher guidance of the Wisdom of God, his task, which he alone can fulfil and thus raise to the highest unfolding of the creative turning to account of the knowledge of the work of Creation which he has received, for the shaping of a new and better world

There is no one here who could not during his earthly life make a golden shining entry upon his page of the book of fate, as the imprint of another gloriously fulfilled period of his existence

The worth of man as a spiritual being can be manifested in every place in Creation by the human spirit working beneficently in union with the conditions of that place, and by his being the mediator of the rays of the Light which stream through him to the given place where he happens to be

It is never the higher knowledge which man receives that makes his spirit valuable in Creation, but solely and only the turning of this knowledge to account in his own life

Instead of this, however, men who receive a higher knowledge here on earth consider themselves far more valuable than their fellow men, without proving to the Light through the work of their spirit that it is really so

Throughout their whole time on earth this impression mirrors itself for them in the form of thoughts that they, as knowing men who possess knowledge, are surely more welcome to the Light and are through their acquaintance with spiritual things more valuable than all those who in ignorance struggle with the life here, which they regard as the only important one

Thus they consider themselves as those who do not wish to defile themselves with what gross materiality in its present condition offers them, because in their view this earthly world, with so great a number of men who have no higher knowledge, is only a swamp in which the danger of spiritual drowning permanently threatens

Although they are knowing ones, they live through the transitoriness of their existence here in a wrong conception, as a time which they must endure so that afterwards they may at last, in the beyond, show forth the real beauty of their spirit

There are even such men as regard their existence here as a time wasted, for in their manner of life it seems to them that they do not fit upon earth and that their activity needs a far different and better place in Creation

The baseness of the ignorant men here, as seen from their point of view, only annoys them and causes them ever new grievances

It seems to them that almost everywhere they meet with the incomprehension of other men

Their bitter experiences then always bring them anew the confirmation of the conclusion that they have become spiritually so sensitive, and thereby so valuable, for this ponderous and so deeply wounding earthly world that they do not belong to it

They look upon the world as one that does not value them at all, that is not able to recognise their worth and to give them more attention

Therefore all the more do they wish for this world in which they live that a crushing blow from the Light may finally come upon it in the form of the Judgment of God, which will at last remove all evil, and only then will their spiritual worth be able to come forward to full appreciation

Subconsciously they expect an ideal world which, when it then arrives, will be exactly as they expect it in their notions, and which therefore must of necessity bring them into visibility in the glory of the Light

Should it perhaps be otherwise even then, it would not be the work of the Justice of God

In the ideal world of the Kingdom of God upon earth everything will surely be such that these men feel themselves put to use, and that is possible only if it all accords with their notions

Alas, these men do not realise that instead of a healthy and sensitive receptivity they have bred within themselves a sickly over-sensitivity towards everything that is not in accord with themselves and with their view of the world

Anything then wounds them that does not accord with their ideal, which they carry within them like an all too fragile jewel that must shatter at any moment, because this ideal of expectation cannot be united with the nature of the gross material world in which they find themselves

However knowing they may perhaps be in the sense of learning, they are to be pitied, for in the over-sensitivity they have bred in the perception of themselves they make themselves unusable here on earth for the great liberating work of the Light

The Light brings to this earth in the first place everything necessary for rebirth, uplifting and building up

This building up needs to come about upon the ground which is here now

This, so it seems, is little known to those who know the work the Grail Message

Instead of raising their receptivity and sensitivity to the ability to feel with others and to help their fellow men, they relate it always only to their own person

The great knowledge of Creation which they received so that they themselves need make no further mistakes in their lives they have twisted to a wrong angle, and thus use it predominantly only for complaints against other men and against the whole world

The reproaches as to why they are incarnated here, and the complaints about the world, naturally bear the shining wrapping of the exalted kind

It is all wrapped in the seeming humility of the great wish that the Light may come to earth as soon as possible

If, however, a man at the same time does nothing honest out of his own strength for the betterment of the world, then such words are hypocrisy

The call for the necessity of a higher intervention of God's power upon earth will with these men never conceal that the core of the great words is only a hidden dissatisfaction at the unfulfilled expectation that everything would go easily for them, without effort in the reaping of the rewards and gifts of the Light, because they had condescendingly accepted the attained knowledge of the Truth as their own

It is therefore for the most part not said directly, for these men are with their knowledge clever enough for that, and the hidden grumbling and also the already mentioned reproaches as to why just they must wade through the density here when inwardly they are so good, is therefore concealed in sorrowful sighs about how beautiful it would be if the world here could at last be a better place

Instead of joy in every moment of life, with these men there stands always at the same time a whole series of complaints ready to hand about what other men have brought this earth to, and how they thereby harm those of a more luminous nature, that is, precisely themselves

The knowledge of the work the Grail Message, which shows them clearly in how many places it is possible to begin at once with help to make the world here better, then serves only to make these men run everywhere into the darkness still lingering here, to occupy themselves with this darkness repeatedly, and indeed to surround themselves with it entirely through their attunement in the attraction of homogeneity

This is because, for all their knowledge, they have not grasped the Wisdom of God, which sent them into this world so that precisely they might work here helpfully in the seeking and finding of ways, and so that thereby, through them also, the conditions here might gradually change for the better

They have not grasped the essence arising out of the grace-filled possibility of being permitted to wear a gross material body as a great opportunity for the fulfilment of the words that every single moment which is filled by the human spirit with the pure praise of the Creator, and if this praise is carried over actively into material activity in life, only then becomes here on earth that true service to the Holy God

Upon earth luminous spirits are needed who have matured for noble deeds

Without these there is here no visible way upwards

Therefore the great knowledge of the work of Creation and of the Laws working within it is given to all those who are here precisely for the sake of this work

They have all this at hand, and on the part of the helpers of the Light they are often cared for with a supra-earthly kindliness

They need therefore only to grasp rightly that great power which has been given to them through the knowledge of the great connections by way of the Truth

The knowledge of the Truth is a great power, and this power is to be fully turned to account through the persevering activity of earthman, so that the world here may become more permeated by the Light

Men who have accepted this work and thus bear upon themselves the weight of materiality are blessed in the true sense of the word, if with all their strength they strive for a dignified, creative life, and thereby one pleasing to the Light

To carry within oneself the lasting attunement of a noble and good-natured rejoicing in life is the foundation of the fulfilment of the task here on earth

The art of seeing the world through the possibility of changing it for the better by putting one's own hands to the help

Tomorrow can be better than today

Yes, it can surely be so, if only men who command the knowledge of the Truth carry this expectation within them together with the seeking of ways in which they themselves can act, instead of wishing retribution through horrors and hardships upon all men whom they consider ignorant, and thereby often at once also as not good and as reprehensible

Instead of searching out everything that is bad today on account of the hitherto prevailing ignorance of the majority of mankind, work is to be done so that all men may become more conscious

Only in this can the enlightenment of the new age come to this earth

There is so much good in it that even the most active spirit could not exhaust its whole content during his entire earthly life, even were he to surpass all the true servants of God hitherto who have ever been upon earth, and thus become the most valuable of them all

Never will the blessing be exhausted which will pour towards him from all sides, in order to raise him to the level of joyful thanks to God for the gift of earthly life

For this it is needful only to unite oneself with materiality, to take consciously upon oneself the weight of its plane, and every single day to rejoice together with the whole animistic world which stands permanently around each one of men

To walk through life on earth with the full knowledge of one's exalted task, which unites itself with him who lives simply and justly in accord with the Laws of God, that is the sign of man's spiritual enlightenment

All else is only dissimulation, which cloaks itself in a seeming spiritual greatness, yet stands in sharp contradiction to the fact of the reverent nobility with which the Son of God, Jesus, and the Son of Man accepted and bore the bodily shell

The human spirit who permanently complains of the conditions here, which make it possible for him to be upon this earth, appears to the Light as one who refuses the great gift of the Grace of God, refuses to use fully the possibility of existence in the world here so as to bring into its vibrations through himself something more noble

He refuses the exalted task of the enlightened spirit who goes before mankind, who although he seeks the ideal in the spiritual heights is at the same time fully anchored in the present, in order to bring useful help for the hope-filled building up formed out of the Light

And solely for that purpose, that the human spirit may be always joyfully active, helping in alert presence towards the becoming luminous of all forms of life of this world, and at the same time holding within himself the highest outlook upwards, precisely and only for this has the knowledge of the Truth contained in the Grail Message been given to him here on earth

He may, and for his spirit he also needs to, transform the perception of life here into a great field upon which he is continually to sow joy and strengthening for himself and for other men towards the prospect of attaining God's nearness, which alone brings to the human kind the strengthening for the finding of the forms of pure humanity

For this he has around him sufficient helps, which lie entirely at his hand if he will recognise them and use them for his effective working in life upon earth

Never is the human spirit alone upon earth, unless he himself permits it in the attunement of his thinking

All around him are the helps of the small and great animistic servants, who the moment he asks for their work in the right way stand at his hand, in order to testify for himself and for other men that God's work of Creation is living and that it holds much blessing for everyone who walks through it upon the right paths

The animistic servants are at work in many happenings, which however the eyes of him who considers himself a victim of material life cannot see, for in his refusal of God's helps such a man makes himself blind

And it is precisely the animistic, just as the spiritual helpers, who now call to this earth:

"Men, do not expect that you will be glorified by the Light for doing nothing so that the earth and the life dwelling upon it might become brighter and more radiant in all their forms"

The animistic ones expect that men who have some little intuitive sensing of them will at last plunge their hands into gross materiality, so that they may hand over to them the treasures which they have prepared for them

Without the work of men these treasures will never be attained

Therefore it is now high time to begin with everything that belongs to the life of human spirits irradiated by the Light

The courageous decision to set to work is in this year a great call to everyone

To set to work means to see everywhere around one the way leading to the possibility of building, creating and ascent

For this the knowledge of the work of Creation is given to the human spirit, that he may use it for active working in every place where he finds himself

This earth is a place making possible an unprecedented ascent for all men

Everything is therefore to be done so that a visible beginning may be made in this ascent

There is no reason to wait any longer

Whoever hesitates and holds himself aside confirms how strongly the intellectual mistrust of God's Laws is rooted within him

For it is precisely the Laws of God which work strengtheningly and almost miraculously helpfully wherever there is the courage for a movement forward in the work of making the world here better

The present year, only just beginning in the unfolding of its individual days, is, in the setting of all the higher threads woven out of the Ray of Parzival by the faithful Alphar, the greatest opportunity hitherto for a great change of everything for the better

Therefore away with all lamenting, away with all observing of only what is bad, for all inner and outer strength is now to be concentrated by the mature human spirit upon the building up, upon the ascent and the enlightenment of this earthly world

From whoever steps forth in this attunement much of the weight of gross materiality hitherto felt will be taken away, and he will be able to feel light, free and fitted for a jubilant flight forward through life, towards the new challenges which the threads of the weavers of fate will bring him
