Most people have not the slightest inkling of all that takes place immediately around them upon the finer plane of their being

Most therefore also have no right conception of how important for them in this time is everything, even the smallest radiation that flies out in every moment from the flashes of their volition, whereby it is still granted to them in free decision to offer out of their inner being vibrations for the hands of the animistic weavers

Thousands of vibrations fly out from man into the surrounding space, and this even during one single hour

In these vibrations there are forces of many kinds, often of wholly opposing wishes

Thus does the human spirit radiate its wishes into Creation

Born out of the first great wish to be a conscious inhabitant of the work of Creation, he is filled with an endless stream of further wishes linked to it

Beside the chain of the vibrations of wishes we find with some people here and there also vibrations of thanks

These, however, come only when a man is able to ascend to the necessary step of inner purity, which is the lawful condition for the experiencing of fervent, sincere thanks

The proportion of wishes and thanks in human life is meanwhile today incomparable

Out of the inner being of man there rolls one wish after another, and only very seldom does thanks go forth from him

Ninety-nine out of a hundred vibrations of the volition of the human inner being are formed by the wishing for something

Through his wishes man shapes for himself his path through the work of Creation, for this is to a certain degree given with his spiritual kind

Through his free will it is made possible for him by the Creator to form either wishes or thankfulness

Such is the nature of the human spirit

Thus was it always meant to be

It lies in the naturalness that is impressed upon man through the ability always to will something

Without man being aware of it, he always bears within him some kind of wish

The quality of having wishes continually is for the human spirit even a necessary driving force of his development

Therefore this quality should be looked upon with matter-of-factness and calm, not with an effort to suppress precisely this quality in man with the assertion that it is something not good if someone harbours wishes within himself

In its essence it cannot be otherwise

Even the wish to change something in this would again be a further wish

The wish in itself belongs therefore to the nature of the human spirit

The fundamental pitfall lies in this, that most of the wishes formed by men lack the necessary purity and maturity

And it is a fault also that the giving of thanks for fulfilled wishes, so important and so childlike simple, is in the prevailing manner of human thinking either forgotten, or else commonness and even insincerity is laid into it

Thanks thus do not sound in harmony with the actual motives of man

It is often so, that in the moments when he strives to express thanks there lives in him at the same time something else, which instead of the sincerity and purity of thanks is already forming deep in his thoughts a wholly different wish

Not seldom it is the wish for dissimulation before others and before himself in the giving of thanks, which is done out of the calculation of the intellect once a man has admitted the thought that he ought now and then to thank the Creator for all the good that befalls him

Mind and words do indeed form thanks outwardly, while the finer motives are already hastening after some new, as yet unfulfilled wish

We may therefore say that men are overfilled with endless wishes, while the ability of fervent, sincere thanking is in long neglect entirely overlooked

What is most lacking on Earth as a natural part of the life of men is fervent thanks for all that is granted to man in his life along the ways shaped by the weavers of fate

Thanking for the state of health, if a man is permitted to receive it, thanking for the possibilities of a home where he may dwell, thanks for the happy lives of those near to him whom he loves, fervent thanks for nourishment and for sleep, all this is generally overlooked, for in the time of the favourableness of the threads of fate it is for the most part taken as a matter of course

Instead of thanks for all the conditions for life, there is in that time chiefly nourished by men the thinking upon what they do not yet have, and with their eyes they then observe sharply that other people receive far more of just that, and that it comes to them easily

Such an attunement in man only nourishes the wish to have this or that as well, and when it does not come to him soon and easily, there is then born in him the further wish that the others should not have it either, out of which, in the succession of the development of the thoughts of man, there is finally formed a corroding envy

Instead of joyful thanks there forms in man malice and resistance against everything purer

However veiled it is often presented outwardly to others, in the inner being of many a man who claims that he loves people and strives towards God there lives corroding envy and evil

Nothing remains but to wish such people that in the coming time of enlightenment they may awaken as soon as possible and through new, purer wishes free themselves from the vicious circle in which they find themselves

As we may know mankind today, there are thousands, or often even tens of thousands of flickerings of the most varied wishes, which are permeated with everyday commonness and, alas, consist for the greatest part of the most senseless kinds of trifles

A small child, wishing for everything its eyes behold as it walks past fairground stalls full of coloured objects, is the fittest likeness of the state that corresponds to the greater part of mankind today

The spiritual maturity that deals earnestly and responsibly with something so precious as the gift of free will we find among men only very rarely

With most men, which is given by the degree of their maturity, the form of wishing is a manifested participation in the tasting of all that the work of Creation offers

The more mature the spiritual inner being, the nobler are the wishes, which at last blend wholly with the thanks experienced at the same time towards the recognised Loving-Kindness of God

It is that highest state of happiness and bliss when the experiencing of joyful thanks is at the same time for the human spirit an impulse to form those wishes that the same joy may be granted to the greatest possible multitude of the inhabitants of the work of Creation

Therewith the spiritual kind fulfils its task, however much this is never limited to the mere expressing of thanks, but has many layers depending upon the activity of the spirit in the realising of its wishes

The spirit may grow unceasingly, and thereby widen its sphere of activity

Its sphere of activity, however, will never be anything other than the most manifold fulfilling of wishes, wherein the gift of the free will of volition manifests itself

Until now men have not wished to see in their life this simplicity which in truth lies therein

The human spirit was born to life out of its awakened wish to be permitted to share in the work of Creation, and from this basic wish there unfolds thereafter everything in its being

The being of the human spirit is an unbroken living thread upon which the single pieces of experiencing are strung

Every new experiencing of the present being in the work of Creation forms in the spiritual spark at once further new wishes

In the understanding of the just fulfilment which the Laws of Creation bring to man in the reciprocal action of the fulfilling of his wishes there lies then the measure of maturity in the intuitive sifting of the choice of further wishes

If the wishes of a man become ennobled and he himself adapts to their kind of radiation, so that the blessed fruits of his wishes may return to him through the threads of fate just as he willed it, then he recognises more and more that all that comes back to him is the harvest of his sowing

By the strength of his wish and by the purity laid into it he can influence the directness and the swiftness of the return of the blessed fruits

He recognises how the Laws of Creation in truth always worked for him, in order to move him forward upon the way to the spiritual levels

This awakens in him not only the recognition of the greatness of the Wisdom of God, which lies abidingly therein, but above all it leads in him to an ever stronger and also ever more conscious forming of thanks

Thus was it always meant to be, which would lead only to the result that above all small wishes there would arch a great, all-pervading vault of the volition of all-embracing good

This volition of all-embracing good is to permeate everything else that is born in man as his further wishes, however small or smallest they may be

The foundation for everything is to become the all-embracing wish for good, as the chief flame in man, which incomparably far surpasses all else

To this flame there may then link itself the radiating out of fervent thanks to the Creator for all that is given to the spirit upon its ways for experiencing

Out of the Laws of God there streams to the human spirit always only that which enables him to deepen himself more and more in the recognition of the power of his own gift of free will, out of which precisely all wishes are formed

Men speak of free will with an uncertainty into which they project experiences from wishes long past that are already returning, wishes which after an interval were formed by the hands of the weavers into the threads of fate

This awakens in many people the impression that man has no free will, but that he is often pushed along by outward influences of fate

This holds especially at fundamental turning points in life, at sudden losses, at illnesses, or even in the experiencing of the nearness of earthly death

The reality, however, is such that in the threads of fate there returns always only that which was called forth by the previous wishes of man, which he himself with his volition laid into the machinery of the justly fulfilling Laws of Creation

For many people there rules in this a confusion and a bewilderment, if they look upon the world only with the outward earthly eye

The bewilderment passes at once, however, when it is grasped that wishes are radiated by man through his free will into the surrounding space

Here it is wholly beside the point whether we call this radiating out the wishing or the volition of man, as is mostly done

It is always the same

Only because the concept of wishing appears to intellectual people too childlike and naive is there generally spoken of volition, for therein a greater application of the work of the intellect is perceived

The concept of volition appears as a maturer stage of the wish

It is, however, only the influence of the intellect that names it thus, for therein it wishes to underline its share of the work of thought

The foundation, however, is always the wish, which is rightly perceived as closer to the child

This is so because man is in his essence a spiritual child of Creation

But let us now leave aside the consideration of all that the concept of volition expresses and what on the other hand the concept of wishing expresses

Taken to its conclusion there is in this not a speck of difference

Man is the source of the vibrations of wishing

Everyone can quite calmly observe this in others as well as in himself

We may even say that there is with man not one single moment in which he does not form some wish of his, or even several wishes at one and the same instant

It is not possible for him to step out of the endless chain of wishes, for thereby his spiritual essence would be denied

Only the experiencing of pure, sincere thanks can still spring forth from man beside all wishes

Yet this is only so because it holds true that thanks too are a certain form of spiritual wish

The wish to express simple thanks, fully irradiated by the purity of the inner being

It is the noblest wish that the flame of the spiritual inner being can attain

In fervently experienced thanks there becomes present that state in which we wish to express the fullness of joy which in that moment wholly pervades the inner being like a flame of happiness shining into the distances

Thanks vibrate the spiritual inner being to the highest nobility of character

Thus were men always meant to experience the power of the great wish for all-embracing good within themselves and around themselves, and to heighten all this through thanks springing upward to the Creator of the Universe

Thus, however, it has not been with mankind for a long time

Wishes of the most varied vibrations of low-mindedness shoot out at every moment through the outpourings of radiation of feeling and of thought into the universe, so that out of them the Vaenen are compelled to form threads reaching into homogeneous levels and thereafter again the Alphar, so that out of these levels they may shape for experiencing the reciprocal happenings which return to man upon his ways through the materialities

Bewilderment and seeming confusion then form the impression that man is unfree in his decisions

This, however, is the greatest delusion that men have formed for themselves in their limited conclusions about life

The threads bring exactly all that is needed by man for the understanding that he has still not made his own a sufficiently noble handling of his wishes

Men may raise a thousandfold objection against this, but it changes nothing in the fact that it happens so in their personal life and in the lives of those near to them

Until now there was left in these threads sufficient time for the souls of men to mature in the interval and thus to move higher, so that the immediate effects of the returning of their irresponsible wishes should not have to overtake them

Now, however, there begins to work therein a pressure that has never been present here in such a measure as it will show itself more and more in the coming time

The tension of the threads of fate receives in the coming years a wholly new kind of forces for the swiftness of the reciprocal releasing of wishes

Wishes earnestly meant, as well as those of the utmost folly, now press forward one after another like impatient petitioners for their release in the life of man

That out of this there must at last come forth a chaos verging upon madness is evident to everyone who is able purely and objectively to reflect upon the living picture that portrays all the returning wishes at one and the same time

And yet there is an easy way out of it

It lies in the already mentioned all-embracing wish for good to all life and to all creatures in Creation, which as the first and fundamental wish in man is to interpenetrate all his other wishes that awaken in him to life in their will towards fulfilment

The wish for all-embracing good is that which today can still even at the last moment save everyone who lays his spiritual powers wholly into this kind of radiation springing forth out of his inner being

The effects of the Laws of Creation under the heightened pressure that works in the universe through the nearness of the Ray of Parzival will pour in a strong kind of strengthening, and thereby helping, fulfilment of this wish

Beside the making one's own of this most precious kind of wish there is here also the making one's own of the vibrations of fervent thanks towards Him who granted to the human spirit the possibility of self-conscious being

Fervent thanks to the Creator

They should permeate all the coverings of the spirit down into the day-consciousness in simple and pure experiencing so often that they become of equal worth with all wishes

Abiding thanks to the Creator should become a part of the all-embracing good

For it is precisely the pure vibrations of thanks that prepare for the hands of the weavers the ways for the quickened returning of the threads, which bring to man strong and in a certain sense victorious radiations above all baseness

And it is precisely for this reason that the freeing from baseness, from the influence of all that drags down and undermines trust, is the foundation of the new age of mankind

It is also the condition for the individual man

A condition which each one for himself needs to attain and also to uphold abidingly within himself

In this no one can be represented by his fellow man

It is the vindication of oneself before the Laws of God and their effects

Therefore it is of the utmost importance to hold within oneself the exalted wish for all-embracing good towards the whole work of Creation, made luminous through fervently joyful thanks to God for the possibility of one's conscious being
