The Sacred Spear

The Sacred Spear of which we speak here has nothing in common with the spear of the centurion who pierced the side of Jesus after the ending of His torment on the cross, a spear that is woven about with many thoughts of men, yet which in the end bears no greater significance in the great world happening than that it remains recorded as a memento of man's resistance against God

The spear spoken of below has an incomparably more serious task in the happenings of one whole part of the work of Creation, in that part which concerns man just as greatly as it concerns the human spirit upon the path of his maturing, for this spear determines the direction and the movement upon this path

Let what follows therefore be read with care and received aright

The Sacred Spear, which determines the direction of the flowing of all that is human-spiritual, now rests firmly in the hands of Parzival

The direction in which all happenings in Creation are to unfold has been led back to the primordial streaming

Again the gates are opening, that the spiritual may flow upwards, even as the blood which, enriched with air in the lungs, hastens to the heart, so that from there it may set out with new strength upon the great journey for the enriching of the body

Thus the spiritual sparks which have ripened in the pure glowing of knowing recognition may now, after thousands of years, return again into the spiritual homeland, so that from thence, after their complete becoming luminous, after their recovery in the nearness of the Light, they may then work consciously for the help and the development of the other spiritual sparks which still wander in pursuit of their development, or which in their coming awakening will only one day set out upon this path

All this is contained in the most glorious work of Creation, wherein there works and takes effect the primal promise of God's All-Wisdom, which grants inexhaustible room to all life that strives to attain harmonious full value

Great, and beyond the sight of human thinking, is the Law of Flowing, wherein the stream of the human-spiritual sparks pours and moves along the golden paths of the most glorious development through Creation

Everything in this flowing has its direction, and is to be subordinated to the wise development

For a certain time the Sacred Spear was entrusted to an archangel, who misused its strength and its power and turned a part of this stream into other courses than those foreordained by the Will of God

But now the spear rests in the luminous hands of Parzival

Thus the Sacred Spear is in the hands which have once more joined this strength and this power with the blessing of the restored, healthy flowing

Turned about is the stream which hitherto caused an open wound in the flowing cycle of the human-spiritual species in Creation

Now, in the recognition and the understanding of the great happenings in the work of Creation, the human spirit may upon his paths raise himself even to the summit of the spheres of development, where gates radiant with light await him, granting him entrance into the golden streets of the spiritual homeland, Paradise

The Sacred Spear, which upholds all things in the right setting of the paths, now drives the spiritual forward in its development with its power, towards a healthy strengthening and joyful creating

The healed wound gradually closes that direction which, in the principle of temptation, hitherto shook all who were not strong enough within themselves, so that in the end it deflected many from their course and, instead of supporting them in their ascent, dragged them downwards to the boundary of destruction

The closed wound bears within it support and strengthening for those who long to step forth upwards in renewed strength, in the rebirth of their own selves, upon the path to the homeland of the spirit

The condition for this is the purity of all the motives within man's inner being, the willing of the good which carries within it the perseverance of becoming luminous

For such people the Sacred Spear in the hands of Parzival will help to set the paths aright, so that all that still clings to man, and that has hitherto caused him his tormenting persistence in lowliness, may be severed, and that the nobility of character within may blaze outwards as the radiant shining of a spirit which has become free once more

From ancient times men have had an intimation of the existence of this spear, yet they did not know that it brings strengthening and fortifying to all that is spiritual, in that genuine purity and clarity towards which each of mankind is to incline

The spear now works in the right, healing direction, and through this its working it brings blessed benediction to all who are willing to heed the direction it sets

It therefore now lies with us human beings whether we will be those who make use of this mighty, sustaining gift, and who, in the renewal of trust in the Light and in the all-wisdom of the Will of God, join the stream that presses upwards

The spear works sharply and clearly, unswervingly in the direction of the right development

Whatever stands in contradiction to this development sets itself thereby against the wise weaving of the forces willed by God in the work of Creation

Thus even the archangel himself had in the end to be struck and wounded by that same spear upon which he had sought to impress the will of his own striving

Parzival in battle took the spear from the harming archangel and restored all things to the original foreordination of their courses, and thereby led the streaming of the forces back once more into the blessed cycle

The union with this great cycle is now awaited also from the human-spiritual, which has everything needful for it at hand

The recognition of the meaning of its being in Creation, the knowledge of the exalted, sacred happenings at the very summit of the work of Creation in the Grail

All that is needful now lies at hand for everyone who in earnestness wills to set out upon the path to the Light

Whoever over a long time does not prove his volition to go the way of that development which is foreordained for all the sparks of the human-spiritual species, he will now be struck by that same spear in defence of those who long to flow upwards to the Light, and whom he would hold back by his wavering upon the path

He must then be struck by the power of the spear and cast aside as an unusable creature whom, on account of his own worthlessness, it is no longer possible to help

Where there is no setting towards inner purity within the inner being of man, there the Sacred Spear will take effect as a power that binds the human will

In the end all things will range themselves in joyful harmony into the great rhythm of the Laws of Creation, and then mankind will experience that so long sought, peace-filled fulfilment of life here on Earth also

The liberation of the human spirit out of the snares of entanglement and temptation is accomplished, the path stands open and offers all that is needful for the ascent to the places of blessed being in the spiritual homeland

Let us make use of this wondrous time which is now dawning here on Earth for the help of all mankind
