The Right Life Upon Earth

A life rightly lived through by man upon this earth is to lead him to the intuitive participation of his spiritual inner being in all the moments of the day

Man is to become more a being of spirit and of intuitive perception and gradually to ennoble himself therein up to the highest liveliness and radiance

He is to have a heightened receptivity for harmony in all the hours in which threads are woven between him and other men out of the time they have lived through together

This means, among other things, a drawing nearer to the words of Jesus about “Loving others as oneself”

Likewise his intuitive liveliness is to manifest in receptivity towards the world of nature and towards the working of all the animistic servants who co-operate in the shaping of the paths for all that is spiritual through Subsequent Creation

In everything he is to learn to behold the life bestowed by the Creator for this Creation

Only thus will he come into accord with the weaving of the great threads of the blessed development of Creation

That there is such a thing as threads of development is nowhere spoken of outwardly

It may be said that in this the world of men is today divided, for only a very small part of those men consciously striving in this way and inwardly awakened hold this world in the circling of the stars, together with all the others asleep in spirit, who do not sense even the smallest connections concerning the worth of the true significance of their earthly life

Inwardly living men hold this earth, through the threads of development, for the billions who still lag blasphemously behind in their spiritual development

This, however, is soon to change, and through the coming happening the heavy bar of ignorance which has hitherto held the whole of mankind in its grip is to be broken open

It is needful to persevere in this and with the certainty of the recognition of the Light to stride through life in full worth

Whoever is more conversant with this knows how everything shapes itself and whither everything must arrive according to its kind of volition in the effects of the Laws of Creation

Therefore the present state should be no ground for anyone to complain against others, nor to excuse himself

There is now being woven in accelerated fashion for everyone exactly that which he needs to meet and which he also needs for his progress in spiritual ascent

We need only bear within us the awareness that an enduring disposition of the pure giving of goodness and of nobility of character is that highest victorious power which man is permitted to wield in all the hours of his life

Whoever is permitted to behold the threads which in their many crossings interweave above the present world of men can already for a certain time stand in this with peacefulness, for he knows the outcome, whither everything is hastening and what the present happening will in the end bring to individuals and to mankind as a whole

It will come and it will stand face to face with every single spiritual spark as its mirror, reflecting the measure of its own light into the space of Creation

It will bring enlightenment, or collapse

In its upheaving force it will reach everyone like a refreshing storm

It is already on its way and nothing will stop it, for it has been ordained by the Will of the Holy God that a strong spiritual awakening should come among mankind upon this earth

And for this the animistic, called by the Will of God, and everything that serves God the Father through Parzival, moves this Holy Will towards visible fulfilment

There is in it a power unrecognised by men, an unimaginable force, and at the same time animistic enthusiasm and a childishly simple joy

That today's earthly world of men does not yet grasp this does not in the least mean that it will not in the end become a part of life here

Enlightenment will come for all who still bear within them soil prepared for it

There will come a time when it will be evident to everyone what the actual meaning of his existence here is

To glow through all conduct and volition with a spiritual attitude is the one reason why men come into the gross materiality of the body upon this earth

In the inward glowing through of the surrounding material covering and of the happenings issuing from it the spirit is to become riper

Everything else to which importance is attached today comes only after that, it follows only as accompanying forms of life for man's existence here

This knowing is now turned about by men, and therefore everything outward appears to them as more important than the spirit's own inward progress towards the Light

But from the beginning the divine promise of the ascent of this world remains valid, as a picture subsequently formed after the inward progress of mankind has been realised

No other development can be here, for in it there manifest the Laws of Creation laid down by the Will of God

Out of what is made ready in the prototypes there will manifest in gross materiality only that which will be in accord with the spiritual state of the men then living upon earth

It holds good that only that which through inward spiritual liveliness leads to participation in the happening can be of benefit to the inward and to the outward man and thereby raise him to an ever higher nobility of character and wisdom

The whole world necessarily follows the degrees of maturity, or also of immaturity, of mankind manifesting in this

This is given by the weaving of the threads which are formed out of the actual state of the prevailing majority of spirits upon earth

These threads have only a run-out which manifests in the density of matter as a ripened fruit only after a certain interval

What the outer world is like everyone sees

The forms of this world which now manifest were woven a short while ago

In all its consequences it bears the evidence of a previous frivolity and at the same time the great erring of those who could have mediated better present conditions of life for the whole world

It is possible to improve much and to bring it to a more right life in accord with the Harmony of Creation

This possibility is still valid here

Indeed directly in the already manifesting effects of the Ray of Parzival much can be changed for the better with unprecedented swiftness

Everything that surrounds us brings the possibility of experiencing today otherwise than was the case yesterday

In this lies progress and uplifting for the spirit, and every man can direct himself towards it

Indeed he ought to direct himself towards it, if he longs to turn rightly to account the time bestowed upon him by the threads of fate upon this earth

Thereby life also becomes for the first time truly rightly turned to account, for man is born upon earth solely with the goal of advancing higher in spirit

The condition of inward progress is precisely to participate with one's inner being in the present as it is lived through

What is right every man is able to discern with his intuitive perception, if he truly wills it so

This is not the utterance of a stern demand, but it is above all a strengthening, for fundamentally every human spirit bears the equipment for it in the inwardness of his spiritual spark

The flame of spiritual recognition and of the consciousness of life is to have its starting point within the spiritual spark, which participates with its receptivity in all that happens

The voice of this spark, however, is too weakened for the perceiving of the men of today

The inward voice, that is, the conscience speaking through intuitive perception, is something that is most of all neglected by men upon this earth

Were it not so, the world would even now look entirely different

Everything could be clearer, more translucent, more graspable for everyone, and above all everyone would perceive in it the lofty meaning of the divine Laws

The capacity of the spiritual spark in man is precisely this, that it can experience the world as a wondrously created divine Work, in which the manifestations of the Laws, penetrating into Creation out of the Will of the Creator, fulfil themselves enduringly

Where intuitive perception in man is not sufficiently clear and evident, there this recognition is lacking

Thus in this we can also easily and clearly see today the state within men

Without any need of clairvoyance everyone can see how a man's spiritual liveliness and maturity is reflected in the measure of his intuitive perceiving

Where intuitive perceiving is lacking, there we may speak of a weakening of the spirit, and his path is thereby at once marked, for he necessarily makes wrong decisions in his life

Where intuitive perception does not go first, there everything is governed only by earthly experiences, in which true spiritual wisdom is then not present, but only self-interest and calculation

Out of such an attitude of men there then flow counsels for themselves and for others which must necessarily manifest subsequently in the threads of fate as mistakes of the human spirit

They are mistakes because intuitive perception would act otherwise than is the case with self-interest and calculation

Why will men not see it

For every day and in every moment it is so close to them

In order to go rightly forward in their spiritual existence so little would suffice them – only, in inwardness, to listen enduringly to their intuitive perception

And not only that, everyone can go out himself to meet this state of inward glowing through

Every moment which is inwardly and genuinely devoted to it is immeasurably precious and also supremely beneficial

The attention of the spirit is therefore to be directed to it with all the earnestness corresponding to it

To go consciously to meet the promised enlightenment is a summons which calls to every inwardly open spirit

And everyone can also step out consciously to meet this enlightenment even now

Man can stand even today consciously and with a clear recognition of the co-working of the Laws of Creation, and this precisely through the experiencing of his spirit, which places itself wholly into the fulfilling of the law of giving and taking

It is only needful to recognise this rightly and also to receive it into one's life

Spiritual giving lies first of all in the radiating of thanks to the Creator for the gift of being permitted to be in His Creation

The radiating of joy and thanks is thus that first step which is to become the support for everything else

In his radiating of giving joy as a wordless thanksgiving to the Creator, man thus out of his own kind automatically affords the spiritual portion for the weaving of new threads by the Vaenen and the Alphar

Apart from the joy and the love which vibrates in pure thanks that raises the spirit high, there are to be no further thoughts in it, for in the man of today, burdened with the intellect, these only divert the power of the spirit at once aside for the weaving of secondary volitions and wishes

For the hour of the spirit's genuine giving of pure radiation, as a contribution for the weaving of the space of Subsequent Creation in the vibrations of the Will of God, there is to be in man a sacred attunement without disturbing thoughts

The time is to be a true giving of the purest radiation of the joy of giving thanks to God

And if man is able to remain in this attunement each day a few moments longer, then he draws nearer to that foundation of the fulfilling of his spiritual task upon earth

Thereby the foundation is laid by him for the direction which may be called the right life here upon earth

With his pure striving he can go to meet all that is new which the great loom of Creation can then bring into his life in return

The blessed threads of thanks laid into the carpet of life are thus permitted to return as gifts which are then to be found in man's own threads of fate

So simply and so perfectly is it arranged

In simple words the Son of God, Jesus, spoke of it to His disciples, and yet they grasped Him only in part, or rather not at all

He showed them how His Father had arranged everything for the human spirit, so that the latter, striding through life, might recognise ever more clearly with what all-wise care he is surrounded by helpers in the fine worlds, whom the Love of God sends out to him for strengthening and protection

He pointed to the simple weaving of the animistic in the world of plants and of animals which are everywhere around man, and reminded them that to man, as a spiritual child of Creation, still more grace-filled care is afforded

That if man strode rightly much would be made easier for him, indeed it would be brought directly into his path as gifts which can come to him as the automatic counterweight to the pure faith in the Creator which he manifests

And in this there lies much for the man of today also

There is contained in it indeed absolutely everything for the fulfilment of life upon earth through the right fulfilling of what God expects of the human spirit

In the radiating of pure, joyful thanks, or of thanks intuitively sensed with deep earnestness, lies the beginning of a change equal to that transformation of the first Christians in their fervently lived pure faith in the Creator

This change penetrates into the threads woven by their administrators, as has already been described in previous lectures on the Way of the Grail, but that is only part of the great manifestation of the change which, at once and in proportion to the genuineness of the attitude, becomes fruitful in many directions of the existence of the human spirit

It is also that hitherto undiscovered way to a change in the relations between the front and the back brain of man

This change surely cannot come about in any other way than again only by the way of development in the reforming of gross matter

If this reforming, or, put otherwise, this healing reshaping of the parts of the brain, did not come about in the end in the very plane of gross materiality also, the human spirit would surely remain exposed to the enduring danger that, in the overgrowth of the front brain, the intellect would return to his life with the upper hand whenever he wavered in this

But so it is not to be, because for the gross material world too a host of helps is always ready on the part of the animistic weaving

Through the experiencing mentioned of the radiating of joyful thanksgiving to the Creator, the paths of the nerve systems which flow from the basic nerve plexus of the spiritual connection with the body are opened again, and this precisely in a strong vibration in the direction of the organ of the brain

That is, in the direction strengthening the back, or also that basic part of the cerebral apparatus

In the repeated experiencing of the calmed, pure attunement of the spirit to joy and thanks without words lies the strengthening of those parts of the brain in which there reside the organs more equipped for connecting the spirit with the higher planes in Subsequent Creation

Cerebral organs such as the epiphysis – the pineal gland – and likewise the part called the thalamus – the eminence of the interbrain – are through that experiencing of the radiating of thanks to the Creator without words ever more strengthened towards maintaining a pure intuitive attunement in the conscious existence of the day

The spiritual vibration can then grow ever stronger in the further parts of the cerebral organ, into which they should have streamed in full power from time immemorial

But they were suppressed by the upbringing and the schooling of the intellect until they became literally Cinderellas, rather than the royal place for the spirit in the material body being held for them for ever

The place of the thinking brain was to remain only an executing part which always yields to the will of the spiritual intuitive perception residing in the basic part of the brain

But that is not all, for through the other parts of the brain, to which further organs such as the hypothalamus, the hypophysis, the hippocampus and others belong, the composition of the blood is influenced, which can then always be directly disposed in the best way for the working of the spirit in the material instrument of the body

Everything can then be experienced by man with a livelier receptivity, more purely and more strongly, even where it is a matter of the sense faculties of the body, that is, of scents, of tastes, of visual perception, of hearing and of much else

And again, through the rightly strengthened streaming from the spiritual through the plexuses and the nerve systems into the brain itself, the part of the interbrain – the limbic system – is influenced, which has always been that which connects man with the receptivity for the animistic working in nature

Because this interbrain long served as the starting part for the development of the thinking brain, it is that place in which for a long time the connecting perceiving of the happenings in nature was to be found, when men were more closely connected with nature

It was that childlike time upon this earth when men were learning to use everything that the gross material world upon earth afforded them as gifts and helps

And in these gifts and helping discoveries the animistic working of many servants always participated, whether small or great, who stood in the space around the human spirit incarnated in an earthly body

They were permitted to guide him and to show him many connections out of their own activity, in which they always were and are masters

Men therefore bear in this part of their brain an ancient connection with the animistic world

In everyone it is to a certain degree laid down as a slumbering gift which needs only to be awakened

This gift lies in the limbic system, forming the intermediate layer between the basic brain and the cultivated front brain, which is the seat of thoughts and also the base for the grossly materially reflecting intellect

But because this originally only small supplementary part, necessary for the expressing and the formulating of letters and words, was excessively held to be the most important for application in the materiality of the earthly world, everything else, originally gloriously disposed and formed, was so shifted that out of the human instrument of the brain there came a dangerous adversary and subsequently a grievous enemy to every intuitive volition coming from spiritual motives

Thus it came about that the human brain upon earth today is developed in a direction which was never demanded, nor expected by all the rest of the life around man

But this baneful state too can be changed, or rather it is needful to change it

The way to it is simple, it leads through the inward pure attunement of joyful thanksgiving to the Creator

If a portion of time is devoted to it by man each day, there will gradually come about a freeing of those paths which hitherto had to assert themselves outwardly only with effort in the thinking and the conduct of men

Yet this too is only a small part of the description of the great blessing which lies in it for man

It is much more that could swiftly, with the help of the weavers of the human body, come to a transformation up to the state of an ideal experiencing of life

But that is already running too far ahead of the existing state in which the greatest part of men upon earth find themselves today

This state can be changed for the better

Everything lies in the hands of the individual man

He is not in this a defenceless victim who can do nothing about the existing state

There are only very few who truly remain prisoners in their own bodies, because their previous development so disposed it

The majority can, in their own resolve, set out to meet the change which must come about in any case and which is the condition of the human spirit's remaining upon earth

The condition of the future dwelling of the human spirit upon this earth is therefore to step out at last in the right direction

Only a man vibrating in the Harmony of the Laws of Creation and striving in intuitive perception will be regarded from the Light as one who lives the right life upon earth, willed by God
