The Power of God in Creation

As the manifestation of the creative radiation of the perfection of the Holy God, the work of Creation overflows with the abundance of life and with the glory of its expression in all forms
Upon all the steps from above downwards everything swings joyfully in accord and in a mutual completing of one another
Through whole spheres there permeates, together with the Light, the pulsing and fervent life of all the beings who in blessed self-awareness fulfil their being in the work of Creation of God
Everywhere that the Power of God is drawn upon and used by the dwellers in the work of Creation in the purity of full worth, there the nearness of the Creator may be experienced
At the very beginning of the building up by the animistic servants of Valhalla it was so in absolutely all parts of the Subsequent Creation
It was so also at the time when the first particles of the spiritual kind began gradually to sink into the density of the materialities
At that time it was possible to find everywhere only fullness and glory in the material universes of the world-parts as well
That is because the power flowed through everything unclouded and distinct, as a blessed radiation determining all further development
And the life within the materialities received the said Power of God into itself, rejoiced in its refreshing flow and used it for the building up of worlds in which the reflection of the planes of the Primordial, purely spiritual Creation was mirrored
In this virginally pure forming of life within the materialities the first spiritual sparks were then permitted to appear, and they set out upon their way towards maturity in the outermost plane of gross materiality
With a joyful delight in what was new the childlike souls united themselves with gross material bodies, so that through the earthly senses and the nerves of the body they might rejoice in the glory of the space which the hands of the Alphar had prepared for them
At that time the earthly world appeared to most of them as a place where they might come to know a new dimension of being, and thereby unfold themselves in wholly new experiences
In their first incarnations into coverings of gross materiality the human spiritual germs knew nothing of that which today densely surrounds every man – the threads of fate woven out of the past wandering through the planes of the Subsequent Creation
In their comprehension like pure children, they rejoiced in everything that was offered to them by the ever-present helpers
They received it as gifts, for which their animistic and spiritual helpers working around them taught them to render fervent thanks upwards to Him Who in His loving-kindness bestowed it all upon them
Thereby there arose a strong bond of the first men on Earth in their union with the Light
In that time it was something unimaginable that in the life of the first men on Earth there should be no connection with the Power of God, by whatever various names the first men in their young maturity may have called it
The manifestations of this power were everywhere around them, and its bestowal accompanied the experiencing of every new day on Earth
Through everything there ran a vibration bearing within it the call that men can exist in Creation only through the Power of God, and that for their prosperous development they need to have this power within them and around them in the greatest possible measure
To everyone who walked upon the Earth in that time it was comprehensible in a childlike way that without its accompanying nearness he would stand in danger of losing himself upon his way to the spiritual home
Yet it was not fear, but only a distant awareness which strengthened them simply to hold with all the strength of the spirit to the way of the Light, which always led only upwards into the nearness of the Giver of life
In those days men had no other thoughts than that they belonged to the Creator, that is to Him Who enabled them to arise to awareness and Who granted them unceasingly His beneficent power for their being
Ever higher spiritual leaders, who were permitted to incline towards them from the Light, told them of this, so that they might unite themselves with this power more consciously in the grasp of their own task, which men were to fulfil
They were to become channels for the power, because only through it is everything the human spirit needs for a healthy and happy being granted him by the Creator
The knowledge of a higher kind which was taking root led some especially sensitive men to the awareness that the Power of God has its origin within the work of Creation high upon the very summit of all the worlds
Thus there came among the first peoples an intimation of the sacred place where the Power of God coming from the Creator has its first connection within Creation, from which it pours down to strengthen all that lies below
Ever more there were permitted to come lofty pictures of the spring in which this Power of God dwells, murmuring eternally, for it is unceasingly replenished therein by the descending loving-kindness of the Creator
The spring was recognised as a vessel standing in the most holy hall of a gold-gleaming edifice
The edifice was the prototype of all the sacred places that came after it in the work of Creation
After its primordial pattern there were subsequently formed all the shapes of temple buildings surrounded by protecting walls such as belong to royal castles
The intimation of the Grail became a sacred knowledge among those who were from the outset somewhat more open than their fellow men
But because men were still for the most part pure and unswayed by the intellect, the spiritual inner being of most of the earthly men of that time was permitted to receive at least partial fragments of the mighty knowledge of the Origin of all Life
Thus the Power of God descended in overflowing richness to men through their natural trust and their childlike openness
It filled their spiritual spark and all the coverings surrounding it, and made them joyful
Thus centuries and millennia flowed by, and the first men on Earth, who lifted their heads upwards towards heaven, carried within them the blessed awareness of the unceasing inflow of blessed help from Him Who let all that exists come into being
Despite all the strengthening inflow of the said power to this gross material universe in which the small planet Earth is found, some earthly men, in their savouring of the gifts the earthly world afforded them, turned their absorption towards a clinging to all that earthly life offered them
Ever more often they threw themselves into every experiencing with a passionate craving to taste of necessity what they had seen or heard from others
Others on the contrary, in the excess of repeated experiencings of the senses, came to a state in which they began to regard everything that came to them as commonplace, and in their weariness of life felt themselves disappointed
The first childlike joy forsook them, and they had to exert themselves ever more in order still to be able to distract themselves from their experiencing of the commonplace
With the way to the Light lost, many men began to stray aimlessly through the vast planes of the materialities
They no longer perceived the murmur of the creative activity of the animistic, they scarcely heard at all any more the call of the spiritual helpers standing around them, who summoned them to a renewed childlike joy in life
They began to heap up blunders and errors in their approach to life, for the voice of intuition within them also grew so faint that it became only a dimly sensed conscience
Thereby they deviated from the original direction, and into the threads of their fates the Vaenen had to begin to weave threads which demanded a reciprocal laying aside, for the sake of which they had to begin to return again and again to Earth, although originally this was no longer to have been so
Men gradually grew slack in the ability to receive counsel from the helpers, who persistently urged them to rouse themselves again and to take the Power of God into themselves, for in order to lay aside all the errors they had heaped up they had need of the strengthening effects of its radiation
For the most part, however, they did not listen at all to this counsel, for their intellect persuaded them that here on Earth men themselves know everything better
They became lukewarm, and at last, in an almost complete forgetting of any listening to their inner being, they became material, with all the necessary manifestations hidden therein
The streaming Power of God had to remain outside their inner being, to which so much of its Light could then no longer come
Everything grew lame, and instead of the original full worth the earthly life of men became only a shadow of the original joy
All that followed, which had to come, is more than evident to those men who have ever occupied themselves earnestly with spiritual questions
The clearest testimony to the error which lies in the severing of men from the Light, that is, in the closing of themselves to the incoming Power of God, and thereby in the weakening of its use for a pure and joyful being, is precisely the present state on Earth with all its ensuing manifestations in the happening of society and in the lawful return of consequences in the world of nature
Everything is sick inwardly and outwardly
Out of the original glorious building up guided from the Light, everything that gradually passed into the hands of men has become only ruins, and what still remains in part of the original building up is a mere disfigurement of the first radiance of purity
It is possible to spare oneself the describing of the ill-fated paths of history by which mankind came to the present state of intellectual materialism, with all the horror-filled manifestations which have taken effect in the life of human society and of individuals
It would be only the repeating of something that is already known a thousand times over
It is therefore far more valuable to look at how the world of men on Earth could appear today, had they never turned away from the receiving of the Power of God, or had they returned in time to uniting themselves with it
Let us therefore direct our inner being towards the pictures of how all of it should rightly have been
The world would look entirely different from what it is today, and the whole of history would also be other than we know it
The accompanying feature of everything would be an ever-present pure enthusiasm for life in all men, without distinction as to what part of society they came into upon Earth
A pure assent to a fully worthy experiencing would be part of the life of every family into which spiritual sparks at various stages of their development incarnated
The knowledge of the Creator and of His work of Creation, resounding in the recognition of the Truth, would bear within it the foundations for the certainty that the good in man is the highest moving force for his ascent
All outward material things would be subordinated to the simple effects of the Laws of Creation, and to this the High animistic servants of Valhalla would show men the way through inspirations and through outward helps
The present world of technology would not be a part of the human world as we know it in its contradictory form, in which its partial usefulness is of necessity at the cost of everything inwardly uplifting, but there would be here the knowledge of the effects of forces which today remain beyond the capacity of human learning
The effects of the higher animistic forces are able always to bring mankind sufficient blessing without it being needful at the same time to plunder the gross material body of Erda
The helping animistic forces would stand at the disposal of mankind in such a way that all the building up proceeding from them would bear within it only a universal accord, and together with this the abilities of men would grow to immeasurable heights
In co-operation with the animistic servants everything would be simpler and plainer, and in all things the ever-present vibration of harmony would also be perceptible
No man would suffer or go hungry, unless he willed it so for himself in a defiant refusal
The world would be more welcoming to everyone in its simple following of the spiritual development of men, for this development bears within it as its foundation the capacity for a full intuitive perceiving
Through all human striving there would run like a single golden thread the knowledge of the true meaning of human life on Earth
This knowledge would be upheld by the daily experiences of the harmonious living together of the whole of human society, and it would penetrate into the consciousness of all the dwellers on Earth from their first years of childhood
All that of which men today are in doubt, and which is the object of a great struggle counted as the spiritual advance of individuals when after long hesitation a man comes within himself to the convinced awareness that above matter too there is yet something further, would be entirely a matter of course to the smallest children
The ignorance of today would appear unimaginable to mankind, were it walking the right spiritual way, for all of this would be a complete certainty for every man on Earth
Just as today the need of food and drink is not doubted for a man who wishes to live for his right unfolding, exactly so would the conscious receiving of the Power of God by the inner being of man for the strengthening of his healthy existence be a matter of course
It would be something inseparable from daily life, and that in the most natural form of the experiencing of moments of a pure inward attunement
To no one, therefore, would it seem anything strange that another man, pausing briefly at any hour of the day, lives through the moments his spirit needs in order to open his inner being in thanks to the receiving of the power
Nor would anyone marvel that this happens in a manner wholly proper to the nature of his fellow man, for a nobility of character and a dignity of which men on Earth today have no conception would always have their share therein
The prayers of men today, even the purest and the most fervent, would appear, set against the noble swinging of the naturalness which is to be contained therein, like the halting and disordered forming of the first words of a small child
It is precisely in the most precious thing, which is to be the accompanying experiencing of the conscious state of the spiritual self-awareness of man, that mankind today lags furthest behind
Connecting with the Power of God has become for most men something unknown, although it should have been the most proper capacity of all, unfolded to the highest degree of the swinging of the inner being of man
It may be called a laming of the spirit within the human body, set against the high degree of unfolding of the inner forces at which this capacity should stand precisely today
Through the halt upon the way of the original development, and the subsequent turning aside solely towards all that is gross material, the inward capacity in man of uniting himself with the Power of God became stunted
That which is the most receptive and the most sensitive in the human body and fitted for this – the brain – in its original disposition became paralysed for the perceiving of anything higher and more noble
Thereby it has almost entirely lost the capacity which should have been its most fundamental kind of use in daily life
It could and should have been entirely otherwise than it is with men on Earth today
That men are no longer even able to imagine that everything should have been otherwise is a sign of how enormous a deviation from the original direction has come about
Men do not even suspect how their manner of life stands in decline, whereas precisely now it should be reaching the highest unfolding of all the spiritual forces of man
Just as, for instance, a man today cannot imagine that he could be able to speak naturally in a poetic way, answering to the gracefulness of a human speech so used that it would at the same time be something wholly natural, so today he can as little imagine the other forms of his life as they rightly should be, had the capacity for receiving the Power of God been maintained and unfolded
The spiritual glowing-through should have shown itself in all the movement of the body in a lightness which should have asserted itself also in everything else that the spirit on Earth needs to carry out by his will in relation to gross matter
Meanwhile the state of rigidity creates in man the impression that even today he still expresses himself naturally, although naturalness in the sense of a continuing spiritual maturity such as should be here is something entirely different
The reality, however, is that in the world of men on Earth there is no longer anything that could be called natural in the sense of the original direction of development
Therefore a great turning is now to come about, so that all which can still be saved may yet be saved
The way to this turning is now the utmost exertion of the forces of the spirit towards the finding again of the capacity for receiving the Power of God in the most natural manner, as it is meant to be
In this everyone needs to find his own wholly personal attunement of the inner being
He needs therein to perceive intuitively and to experience that his inner being receives the Power of God, which brings him strengthening and refreshment
That this may truly be attained is now the great task of every spiritually awakened man on Earth, that he should regard the attaining of his connection with the Power of God as the most important thing for the rescue of himself and of other men
Every moment which he therefore devotes to this important striving is an immeasurably precious proof of inner advance upon his way of ascent to the Light
Only in the striving to hold a spiritual attunement which stands the test under all the conditions of daily life does the hope rest of a liberation from all the ingrained old things which from the Light are marked as unfitting for the new age on Earth
To maintain this attunement is the great mission of all inwardly open men in the present time
The way to the finding again of a fully worthy life rests in cleaving to the pure and joyful streams flowing unceasingly through the work of Creation
The blessing of the Ray of Parzival inclines towards all those who now seek the way to this connection
