The Opening of the View Beyond Earthly Space and Time

The long-standing, excessive attachment to earthly space and time has made of the human spirit's covering of the earthly body a ponderous weight of a material kind

It came about because the greatest part of all man's interests was directed, and even now is still disproportionately strongly directed, only towards material things

In the world of men this had in the end to show itself as the imprint of the kind of volition radiated out by them, clinging to matter

The radiated volition gradually asserted itself more and more, until it became the foremost goal of all the endeavours of the greater part of mankind

In the Law of Reciprocal Action, however, this necessarily affected the bodily covering itself as well, and the striving for the material asserted itself as the strongest radiation, working with its influence upon the blood and also upon the nerves in the human body

Thereby a deviation arose in the development, which brings unprecedented difficulties for every human being

Through incarnation on earth every human spirit enters, even before birth, into connection with an earthly covering thus directed, for the binding of blood and nerves to gross matter has become a hereditary lot handed on from generation to generation

The state of attunement in which men find themselves today is in the highest degree unnatural

Never was it willed from the Light that men should become so unbelievably narrowly material in their walk through earthly life

However much many will assert that in their case it is not so, that they hold themselves to be entirely free and that all is quite in order, we may say that the man of today is severely constricted in his ability to experience his own spiritual essence in full value through his day-consciousness

Thereby, however, he is of necessity wholly unfree, for in many cases he does not really decide for himself, that is on the basis of his pure intuitive impulses issuing from his spiritual inner being, but acts for the most part only on the basis of an intellectual understanding of the life here, learned from without

More exactly it may be said in this matter that a state prevails in which the spiritual essence is so far suppressed that the man of today is no longer spiritual in his conscious deciding, and thereby no longer independently free, as it always rightly should have been

It has gone so far that many people no longer perceive even themselves as a spiritual personality, but only as an earthly material being bearing a name, belonging to a particular nation and speaking a language which they regard as their native tongue, thereby as their own, and thus also as their chief instrument for making themselves understood

If then someone points out that men always were and are above all spiritual, that they are beings of the spirit who are first and foremost to be guided by their intuitive perception, this is held to be something unattainable, for according to the manner of understanding they have adopted men consider their nerve-brain to be the most important thing, thus that instrument of thought and intellect which clings to matter

Men dependent upon matter then regard words about the awakening of the spiritual within man as something that urges them to too great a severance from everyday life, which appears to them impracticable, and to many even dangerous, and therefore they take up a highly suspicious attitude towards it

The concept spirit – spiritual has become something alien to the understanding of most people

It has become something that arouses an impression of unnaturalness and strangeness, and that leads to uncertainty and misgivings, as though it were a matter of something outward which has yet to interpenetrate, from some alien space and only afterwards, the tried and tested intellectual understanding of man

The concept of spirit, and everything that speaks of spiritual striving as well, is at best taken as though it were a superstructure upon the material foundation of man

So far has the concept “the human spirit” become alien, through the ponderous entanglement of men in matter

That most precious essence itself of every human being has become, for this earthly gross material plane in the thinking of men, an unwelcome and suspect stranger

There can be no greater contradiction than that men regard everything bound up with their own spiritual essence as ungraspable and thereby more or less as alien, while they take the temporary gross material earthly covering, that is their material body, to be their very own and the most important thing

Here on earth this attitude had to develop from its first inconspicuous deviation towards an ever more narrowed understanding, until today the material plane of man is held, in strong conviction, to be the sole knowing of himself, although the originating power in man, deep within, is permanently his spiritual spark

That spark, which is a thousand times more free, more unfettered and more jubilant when he holds himself to be a child of Creation and not merely a small material dweller upon the earth

A spark which, if it burns with living intuitive perception, is able to come to an understanding, to sound in harmony and to work together with every other human spirit, from whatever region, land or continent that spirit may earthly come

It can perceive the animistic and rejoice in its creating

It is able to hearken to the echoes of the happenings that flow high in the planes of the Light, lying above the space and time of Subsequent Creation

But all this is suppressed, grievously narrowed, and thereby it leads to a failure to grasp the real task of the human spirit on earth

The result of this is selfishness, discord, hatred and wars between individuals and between nations

That this is so is proved by every manifestation of today's human society, which is ailing in every direction

Men are not free personalities living their life in full value, but are slaves of the material world

Thereby they live only in appearance, not as spiritually living, penetrated by a clear light, thus as strong, joyfully radiating personalities

The life of today is therefore very far from a real existence of full value

All that is real, and that therefore also holds inexpressible worth for the human spirit, lies in the unfolding of intuitive perceiving, which takes a path lined with virtues

The virtues, thus values of a high kind, come down to men from the heights of Creation

They well up as originating forces in Primordial Creation and descend further downward, like abiding inspirations for all the other creatures in God's glorious work of Creation

Every inhabitant of the work of Creation may unite himself with the virtues and draw strengthening from them for himself

For the human spirits who wander through the materialities these virtues too are attainable, yet they must strive for them, that is draw near to them through their volition to be pure and good followers of the Light

And precisely in the present happening all the descending streams of the virtues are brought into the nearness of the earth, for with its power of attraction the radiant Ray of Parzival bears them down together with itself

This Ray works as a mightily radiating pillar of God's power, which mediates renewed Life to every creature

The Ray of Parzival is the rescue for individual men and for the whole world

If it was said by the Son of God Jesus that He is the Truth and the Life, and that no one comes to the Father save through Him, then it holds good that the Ray of Parzival is that same Life and Truth, which forms the way upward into the planes of Creation above the space and time enduring in the materialities

Whoever follows the radiance of the Ray of Parzival, in which the unsubstantiate radiation of the Holy Spirit Imanuel is also contained, walks upon the way upward into the nearness of God the Father

The Way of the Grail follows the call of this Ray, and draws from it in most fervent gratitude everything that may now come forth as new knowledge imparted by the Way of the Grail

In reality this knowledge is only an unfolding of the fundamental knowledge which was previously contained in the often necessarily more detailed drawing of the pictures held in the Work of the Grail Message

It is therefore an ascending along the path of true knowledge, which faithfully follows the living radiation of the Ray of Parzival, that comes in the clouds to this earth

The Way of the Grail lays no claim to veneration, nor to unconditional acceptance such as is demanded of the adherents of many other movements

In a simple happening the Way of the Grail follows the Ray of Parzival, and in this following there is always contained, in the first place, simple giving

Everything is given freely for the use of every human being who feels himself addressed and drawn by the radiation of the words of the Way of the Grail

The responsibility for the right use each one bears for himself

Views may be granted ever further such as were never before available here, because the connection necessary for it was lacking

The Way of the Grail forms this connection, for it works as the vanguard of the future strong connection of men on earth with the heights of the Light

It is in no way otherwise than that in the texts brought here, as in a clear surface of water, there is mirrored the knowledge of the Truth, which is inseparably bound up with the blinding brightness radiating out of the Ray of Parzival

If only for a small moment men were permitted to see how refreshing all the present happening of the Light is in its transparency for everyone who may unite himself with the Lord, who remains above the earth

He stands at the very outermost point of the Ray of Parzival and radiates down into the lowlands of the materialities all that is bound up with the completion of the Judgment of God, which is here solely and only to set free all that has bettered itself and to separate off that which proves itself lost in the ravening claws of the darkness

Whoever longs to unite himself with the Ray of Parzival will first of all find the Lord, who is here and works close at hand with strengthened power into all the threads of fate, in order to fulfil the promises given to mankind from the Light

In part visibly as Abd-ru-shin, in part as Oskar Ernst Bernhard, yet always bearing the form of a supremely kingly appearance of indescribable dignity, in which is mirrored the Divine brightness of Parzival's Primordially Eternal form as King of the Grail at the summit of Creation

Thus the Ray inclines downward towards the materialities and works as a magnet for all that is spiritual and truly strives for the fulfilment of the noblest virtues

In a mighty vibration it calls and of necessity draws everyone who is inwardly open

It is possible to hasten into the nearness of the Lord, who stands above the earth every night, when the nerves of the brain and thereby the intellect are set back by their necessary need of rest

If the spirit is rightly released in its longing radiation towards the Lord's Light, it may draw near to the place lying not far off, where the Lord works for the fulfilment of the Will of His Father

And in His Ray of Divine radiation the human spirit that is sufficiently pure may then be borne high upward above all time and space, so that there, in the flowing of blissful eternity, it may draw breath and gather refreshment for its further earthly path

The kindly hand of the rescuer and liberator is held out to everyone who shows himself sufficiently within as a living spirit striving towards the Light

We may therefore call it, in the true sense of the word, an opening of the view beyond earthly time and space for the human spirit, if in the released state of night's sleep and in fervent striving towards the Lord he lets himself be raised by the radiation of the Ray of Parzival higher, into places where he may meet with the liberating fullness of the Light which fills the Lord's nearness

From there a spirit thus opened may draw all that is needful for himself and for his fellow men, which is urgently needed for the strengthening of the spiritual radiation in men on earth

A natural part of this strengthening radiation is the knowledge which we may call inexhaustible in the sense of all that lies within it for the recognition of the human spirit, as a bestowal upon his consciousness

Men could literally be borne upon the pinions of a great knowledge, which would bring them lasting forces for their path of development

This knowledge was never halted and was never denied to the human world on earth

Only it was always permitted to draw nearer when the Light came to the earth in the form of a formed Divine Ray

With the withdrawing of this Ray there then remained to men only what they themselves were able, in their ponderousness of thinking, to receive, and thereby to set into the world of thought-forms shaped for the further human generations coming to earth

The knowledge of the Truth brought by the Divine Ray then became for men, in their intellectually narrowed keeping of the legacy, only an imprint which gradually lost in liveliness and thereby became merely a rigid form without inward strengthening vibration

Thus it is already happening for many with the work of the Grail Message itself, which, although it is the Living Holy Word, becomes ever more swiftly, in the seizure by the intellect and in its rigid comprehension, merely an outward shell of concepts without a living kernel

Something of that sort, however, is utterly remote from the way in which the Grail Message is to be dealt with by the human spirit

Never should the work have been left to the intellect alone, which makes of the original living content a thought-imprint that often bears within it only the germ of a heavy, densified form without inward living vibration

This has become a curse for men in their approach to the Grail Message, and it is a grave indictment of the human manner of thinking, which is still unable to free itself from the grip of dense ponderousness, and this even under ideal conditions, where it is directly helped in this by the radiation of the Truth in the work of the Grail Message

That, among other things, is also why the longed-for spreading of this precious work containing the Truth among all mankind does not succeed

The Light of the Ray of Parzival, burning in the nearness of the earth, will not permit the Living Word, radiantly vibrating in the Grail Message, to become a handbook for the forming of narrowed dogmas of human thinking, with which one group of men rises up against another

That is already forbidden in this time of the approaching enlightenment of mankind

For that reason other ways will also be formed than those which the men knowing the Grail Message have hitherto imagined

Only then will it be possible for the work of the Grail Message to be spread among mankind as it originally should have been

It will go hand in hand with the great enlightening that is drawing near

Until now, however, it was not possible, for it would have brought about, even before the fulfilment of all the promises, a devaluing of the Grail Message in the world of thought of men

It is because the thought-happening which formed around the knowledge and the many concepts newly brought within it grew rigid very quickly, for through the men reading this work the concepts became, already within the short span of a few decades, far too narrowed, and thereby remote from their primordial essence which belongs to them in the Light

It is therefore not the enmity of the darkness that hinders the victorious progress of the Word of Truth over the earth, but the reason for it is the insufficient liveliness of those who already hold the Grail Message in their hands

Yet neither is this meant as a reproach, but it is only a simple disclosure of the cause why the great victorious spreading of the Grail Message among men on earth does not take place

Such is the reality, and nothing can be done about it, for the cause lies in every single human being and in his ability to change something in the radiance of the nerves of his bodily covering

It is only needful to grasp the real connections bound up with it

It is not on account of any outward enmity, but is caused by the insufficient intuitive perceiving of those who already hold it in their hands for their rebirth

From a certain moment onward the Grail Message is no longer to be abandoned to the baseness of the intellectual brain

Much harm has already been done in this among men

All the aberrations and notions of brain-limited men will therefore show themselves gradually ever more visibly as utterly remote from the Lord, and this even though such men very often carry in their mouths the concepts gained from the Grail Message

Where the ponderous brain remains ruling over the spirit, there it will show itself as a visible manifestation of the confusion of such a person

This will show itself in many forms of the speech and the conduct of such people

This further development comes through the nearness of the Lord

It is a necessary happening, which will set diseased intellectuality visibly far aside from the work of the Grail Message

In the intensification of all happening it will show itself with certainty

Where, however, there is a fervent endeavour to manifest the liveliness of the spirit through intuitive perception and a clearly perceived conscience, there it is the Grail Message that will bring blessing in every respect

If men raise themselves more towards the Light, help and strengthening for the inward widening of their understanding of all that is taking place will be permitted to stream to them all the more strongly out of the Ray of Parzival

And because for the man of today this is scarcely still possible in the time of his day-consciousness, the time of night's sleep is given here as a help, which can be fully used by man spiritually for the flight upward to the Light

In sleep the spirit may be given the opportunity to raise itself higher and in the purest attunement to draw near to the Ray of Parzival, which is now once more not far from this place of the material universe of the world-part Ephesus

In the night-time the radiation of the body can then be transformed, so that gradually, in the day-consciousness too, changes more favourable to the spirit may begin to unfold, enabling it more easily to govern the nerves and thereby the brain as well

Around the Ray of Parzival there is a rustling of life and an overflowing of knowledge, in whose inexhaustibility lie enlightenment and liberation for all life

Men could already today be whole worlds further in their knowledge of life, were they able to draw from that spring of Life and of knowledge which is to be found at the Ray of Parzival

Mankind could already today be in truth the first generation of the blessed time of the new age, in which all the striving of men will be directed first of all towards the unfolding of the virtues, and thereby towards the becoming luminous and the strengthening of the spiritual spark into a living flame

For this striving everyone may draw without end from the nearness of the Ray of Parzival

The Lord gives to everyone who draws near to Him with a pure openness breathing out of the spiritual longing for the Light

In His nearness there are also hosts of luminous servants, who stand ready for those who raise themselves upward within, so that they may receive refreshment for their spirit through the new knowledge

The opening of the view beyond earthly space and time is now here and will last for a certain time appointed for it, as a help for mankind on this earth

Let everyone therefore use the possibility of releasing his spirit in sleep and climb upward as high as he can reach, so that he may behold the Lord in the fulfilment of that drawing near in the clouds to this part of the worlds which was promised by God

Every moment lived in the nearness of the Lord's Light outweighs thousands of earthly years
