For the accustomed human manner of life on Earth the last pieces of time are fading away, those which still remain for the necessary completion of the happenings, so that the awakening of a new degree of spiritual humanity may come

Everything around man calls for the liberating intervention of God, which will lead to the raising of mankind a stretch higher above the degree held hitherto

All animistic life in the subsequent work of Creation presses for the completion of the liberation of the spiritual spark in man, because it beholds how this spark has come to a standstill in its spiritual development in the world of matter, in which, after many repeated lives, man as a developing creature has only become entangled and has formed for himself tangled threads which hold him and do not allow him to raise himself higher towards the Light

And finally an ever greater number of men on Earth today also long inwardly for liberation and beg all the forces of Creation that in the grace of the Love of God they may raise them out of the ponderousness they experience, nearer to the Light and to a refreshing connection with the spiritual worlds of the true home

Millions call in stillness and aloud upwards to God, that this great change may at last come to pass which will bring the liberation of mankind from the captivity of the present conditions in which it now finds itself

The change from the Light draws near, but for the liberation and the raising of man it now demands of him the exertion of all his inner forces, for only so can the joining of the luminous helps with man come about

Everywhere we look there is a call for liberation from the existing condition

And this call will grow feverishly stronger

Men call for a change and a liberation which is to come about outside of themselves

That this liberation needs, however, to go forth solely and only out of the inner being of the individual man, to this the consciousness of most of those who call for liberation has not yet grown

The way is still sought everywhere else than where it has in reality lain from the very beginning

This way lies meanwhile solely within the inner being of every man and consists in the full entry upon the rule of the spiritual manner of life

The way consists in the awakening of true cordiality and unselfish kindness, that is, in that foundation which slumbers in every single man from the beginning, when his own spiritual self entered upon the path of coming to know life in the work of Creation

It is something great, something that goes beyond the bounds of this world, for through this degree of consciousness there wafts the true spiritual fulfilment of human being

But hitherto this ascent of consciousness is hindered by the kind of life in which mankind as a whole has become stuck, for it still remains far too grown into all the forms which it took over, by way of the preceding generations, from the natural world of the animistic servants

In their ways men follow clumsily observed principles of life according to the rules of the animistic creatures working in the natural world

Through whole thousands of years men have not moved a single stretch of the way beyond the principles which hold good for the animal and the plant world and which for man were here only as a necessary temporary intermediate stage, out of which everything was to be raised gradually higher towards a blissful spiritual manner of being

But the spiritual inner being slumbers, and therefore most men do not yet recognise that great force which together with this spark was laid into them from the beginning

Here on Earth the emphasis is still laid upon all that is too deeply rooted in the material

Attention is fixed upon ways of acting which in essence still remain within an animal fulfilling of life and within its thoughtless taking over, just as this was settled by the preceding generations through thousands of years

No one is aware that from a certain time onwards this very manner of life can only drag the spirit back to a plane which surrounds it with a natural kind of being that was to be here only for one of the stages of the development of the spiritual spark

It was to be only a temporary stage of the path of the human spirit, in which he has, however, blasphemously become stuck and has thereby chained himself, together with the material intellect, into the deadening cycle of repeated lives in the matter of the subsequent work of Creation

Let us consider an important picture

Just as the human spiritual received in ancient times the earthly body as a gift from the animistic servants, who raised it to the degree at which the first spiritual sparks were permitted to incarnate, exactly so too the principles of the natural world, which man took over from nature as a foundation for his development on Earth, should long ago have been surmounted upwards towards a connection with the spiritual currents from the heights of the Light

Everything should already have been irradiated with the spiritual lustre of the enlivened Message of Christ and also of the Message of Parzival

Although it should have happened already in the past, there is here not even a hint that would bear witness to a movement forward from the spot

In order that man may recognise all that from this animistic principle surrounds him, what he is to keep of it and in what places he is rightly to raise himself higher, he needs first to grasp the difference between the animistic and the spiritual, which here on Earth stand continually side by side and influence one another

This difference the greater part of mankind in reality still does not recognise, because it runs through the life of men only as an utterly thin line between the animistic and the spiritual, with which no one wishes seriously to occupy himself

Men are still proud of the principles which they took over from the animistic working in nature and which in reality should long ago have been surmounted, for to the animistic foundation there should have been added the spiritual knowledge of the path of the spiritual spark in Creation

The spiritual in man was thus, through its sublimity, to add the highest ennoblement of loving help to everything which in its foundation proceeds from the principle of the natural world

That only the spiritual can accomplish, the spiritual which knows and to which, through its purity, a connection with the luminous levels is made possible

Only so can it thereafter take over from them the patterns and inspirations which bear within themselves a multiplying of all the forces of good for mankind on its spiritual path

That, however, did not happen, and so even today, after the thousands of years gone by, we find here only the same man as ever, who leads a life resembling that of the cleverest animal

He is indeed surrounded by the modern things of the material world, but for the most part he still acts according to accustomed views taken over from animal life, views which should long ago have been irradiated by the knowledge of the Light

In reality we may say that man as a spiritual creature is here on Earth influenced above all by the animistic principle in nature, although it should be the other way round, in that the human light is to irradiate the world of matter in the right way and, with the radiant purity of a just spiritual support, to help everything weaker and lagging behind

However much this should already have been so, we still find here a manner of human life formed out of a foundation taken over from the animistic struggle in nature, and however much mankind strives to appear advanced, it still acts only from impulses which bear witness to its aggressiveness and its expansiveness in self-assertion

So too in the survival of the blood-related family clan, which has been exchanged for a uniting in a mental opinion, in a creed and in much else that binds men together against others

This principle comes meanwhile from the natural world, in which struggle and battle are the condition for the survival of the species in the lasting balancing of harmony and of the equilibrium of nature

The principle of struggle is in its foundation right and brings as its result movement, to which mankind still owes it that it has not entirely collapsed in its love of comfort into a complete state of rigidity and thereby of death

The animistic holds man in movement, and he rightly recognises that exertion and a certain kind of struggle for survival is a help in maintaining movement against a collapse into a deadening stillness which would in the end bring the complete decay and disintegration of the life of the individual and of society

The animistic in its kind brings, in its harshness, the demand for movement, for rivalry and for battle, so that a healthy direction of development may be maintained

Into this manner of life, however, man as a ripe spirit was to bring an entirely new content of struggle

It is not, however, a struggle over a creed, a philosophy or a political opinion

The most precious content is to be the lasting striving for the raising of the world towards a better space of being for all creatures on Earth in the sense of spiritual ascent

Such a thing, however, does not happen through revolution nor through violence, but in accord with the Light only through one's own personal struggle for betterment in intuitive perception and for the ennobling of one's attitude towards other men in the recognition of the common spiritual path of ascent

For this manner there is now to be expended the same, indeed a still greater effort than that which men today throw into their endeavours at self-assertion for their own gain, property, fame, or the pushing through of their own thoughts, which they suppose to be better than the thoughts of others

The enthusiasm of the spirit in the experiencing of noble conduct is to penetrate into every moment of the being of earthly man and to fill it with the true meaning of life, for the sake of which all that is spiritual plunges into the materialities in order to irradiate them with a higher kind of loving-kindness

The principle of a helping, refreshing radiation is to become a part of the day, so that everywhere among men there may be built up a consciousness of mutual trust which springs only from the genuineness and the transparency of volition in thinking and in conduct

The building up of the new age of an enlightened mankind needs to proceed from a trust formed upon the recognition of the honesty and the openness of man

Openness and honesty are precisely the complete opposite of today's deceit, lying and deluding of others, upon which so much, indeed absolutely everything, in the daily course of today's society is founded

Only in the fulfilment of mutual trustfulness among men can a change for the better come about, that is, towards ascent

Where even the smallest piece of untruth is found, there a state of full trust among men can never come about

In this direction there is thus also the answer when many a one asks with what he can best contribute to the building up of the new world

From within outwards the inner being of man is to radiate as a shining pure volition which under all circumstances acts honestly and in full openness of itself

Where this is not so, there the old still remains, that which hides behind the hitherto practised procedures of dissimulation and of delusion, with the aim of calling forth in other men an impression other than the reality that is willed

Such an endeavour, in which there lies the intellectual endeavour to circumvent the Laws of Creation, will however soon end in every respect in a blind alley

Mankind is at the end of this path and has no other way out than a change to a new existence, pure from the foundation up

However much it may not yet seem so and however much it leads many a one to hopeless despair and to fears of the time of today, the promise of the early end of this kind of human endeavour already holds good here in full

No one is to wait until this collapse begins to show itself visibly in all the places of the human world

Above all, each should do so within himself voluntarily and beforehand, ere he strikes against the wall of the Light which draws near

And every one of men needs to move forward in this, for the work of the spirit in it is still insufficient, and in many places of more than one soul there appear stains in which one can still perceive the endeavour at distortion and dissimulation for the attaining of a better image before others and thereby also of a seemingly more advantageous position among men on Earth

That, however, is useless, and in the threads of the Vaenen it can also never bring anything other than a grave retardation or even a halting in the ascent of the human spirit

Whoever supposes that the Light needs such a thing, and that it still holds good that the end sanctifies the means, has in reality grasped nothing and remains lastingly in the old, which will soon pass away and collapse

For the Light the most precious thing is always that which is truly genuine, even if such an honestly striving man accomplishes far less of it than others seemingly do

Every genuineness in the conduct and the thinking of man is a jewel which helps to build a better world

In this direction there is also an inexhaustible space for unceasing progress forward, for from the spiritual levels ever new inspirations of purity and of honesty can come for every man

The most important step for his further spiritual duration in Creation man takes when he does everything to rid himself of what is past in the laying aside of his wrong ways, which have brought him precisely to where he now is, and when his inner conscience calls within him for the redress of so many ways of acting which he has hitherto held to be sufficient, if not indeed to be right

Everywhere that he meets resistance with his fellow men, this is to lead him to an earnest intuitive perceiving of whether his hitherto manner of regarding it is not in reality the opposite of that to which the Spirit of Christ and the Word of Truth summon him

Suddenly he will find that there is still so very much in which he has hitherto felt himself to be in the right and in which he has in reality only caused pain and oppression to others whom he held to be weaker and inferior

That, however, is exactly the principle of battle in nature, which needs to be replaced by us men with a lastingly pure will to help everywhere that help can be effectively brought to others

But there is far more than men imagine which still survives here as a manifestation of thoughtlessly adopted principles of the natural world

As has already been mentioned, everything in the family too is taken over from the animistic, and however much this foundation is to a certain degree a blessing for the protection of the smallest children, at the moment when the spirit ripens from the child into the adult the bond of the family often becomes constricting, not allowing the spirit that soaring which belongs to the independence of the spiritual man

In the same way there is here also the instinctual life which brings pressure upon the need for the nearness of man and woman in relationship and in living together, without anything higher being sought, something which is again to lead to a mutual support of the spiritual kind, rather than merely a living together within the established conditions of the earthly manner of life

The rankly overgrown instinct of propagation is a curse which lies upon mankind with such a stifling weight that it is no longer aware of this curse at all

But this curse must crash down upon mankind before the announced spiritual liberation comes

However much mankind gives itself the air of being advanced, its greatest motor driving it forward is still only the battle for supremacy and the instinct of propagation

To this there are joined still other things observed from the natural world of animals and plants, such as the taking of food and further enjoyments, to which man has merely added knowledge through the cleverness of his intellect

However much knowledge of a higher kind there is here, the greatest part of men in the end act in their life only according to the above-mentioned scheme of nature

Meanwhile everything that we may call taken over from the animistic world and that was adopted by man from nature is without doubt helping, yet always only up to a certain degree

Beyond a certain measure everything taken over from nature must fetter the spirit

From the point of ripeness at which there is to be speech of the entry upon the rule of the spirit in man, there is to begin to show itself more of a connection with the spiritual levels in Creation which lie above Valhalla

For the human spirit on his paths through the material levels of Subsequent Creation Valhalla is to remain a certain reverent support in its helping kind of upholding of the spirit, yet Valhalla itself also demands of the human spirit a progress higher, in the direction of the spiritual levels

By the human spirit a new support is to be found in the spiritual world, with the starting point of the Light in the castle which stands upon the summit of the level of the human spirits, in Paradise

From thence there flow to the Earth also lasting helps and inspirations which in their kind go beyond the animistic foundation and bear in their message a support towards the true wisdom and ripeness of man

Spiritual inspiration then brings the archetypes for that creating which has already been mentioned above

Instead of the battle for rule or for survival there is in these archetypes of the spiritual a new kind of working of man

It is co-operation, whose foundation is the common will to help one another, wherein the success of one man is precisely a cause of joy to the rest, for there is here the awareness that the success of the individual is in reality a wealth for all

It must of course be a success founded upon pure striving and not upon deceit and lying

Together with this goes the becoming small of man in his claim to visibility and to the proving of his own worth before others, and it is a condition for a genuine connection with the Light

The connection with the Light then brings the spirit at once and immediately an inner fulfilment and a joy which bestows a thousandfold more than any earthly manifestations of honours and of glorification

The becoming small which is evident and also naturally issues from man as the essence of his spiritual ripeness forms the way of trust towards other men

Thereby the consciousness of the world of thought will change, mistrust gradually drying up and the growing mutual trust gaining in power, in order to mediate this power to all who are able to join themselves to the thoughts of trust and also of faith in a better world

This consciousness will be able to be here because among men there will come to rule a spirit of trust in the pure motives of the helping volition of others, and this trust will also in every moment be confirmed by manifestations in deed

In creative co-operation the volition to attain success at the cost of others is entirely dissolved

Such a higher degree of life demands, however, together with the rising above the world of the animistic servants, that one have within oneself also a fervent and pure connection with the spiritual worlds

The animistic servants await this ascent from mankind, for then the Light, which hitherto they did not find with mankind, will also be able to flow to them

For the levels of the subsequent work of Creation heaven is to open, figuratively and literally

The currents of the Light are to join themselves like living threads with men, for their strengthening and their inspiration

Out of them there can then flow to man on his path an influx of new forces bringing an ever stronger awareness of a cordial wishing of good to other men on their way upwards

This manner of impelling towards ascent is then, in the lower part of unripe consciousness, to be supported by the necessity of movement and, according to the animistic kind, also by a certain harshness

But where there can be speech of a higher ripeness, there is naturally contained in the support of the ascent towards the Light also a greater freedom and liberty of the spirit, which make possible a full independence of volition and add also a trust that these privileges of the ripe spirit will not be misused

Below, at the lower boundary of the ordering of society, there will be found an interweaving of the still animistic principle of education towards movement with a stricter striving directed at the making one's own of a pure manner of life, but the higher we go in the society of spiritual men, the more trust and freedom, resting upon the inner values and virtues of man, shall we find there together with ripeness

The influx of the spiritual raises the individual and society out of the bounds of the animistic, which remains the lasting, precious foundation of the subsequent work of Creation, upon which, after thousands of years, the crown of spiritual wisdom will lastingly descend

Before the opened spirit there arise pictures out of the Light

Beside the knowledge of Valhalla there is thus to be beheld Montsalvat upon the summit of the Paradise of the human spirits, Patmos above Paradise, and highest of all the radiant Castle of the Grail itself, which stands as the starting point of Life above the oldest place of the primordially created spirits in Creation

Towards these prospects the gaze of man is in openness to be directed, as towards the natural ascent of his spirit, because in his coming to know the work of Creation he may unite himself with an ever higher kind of forces and radiations which penetrate this Creation from above downwards

Through whole thousands of years earthly man has here taken over predominantly from the animistic, and this in so distorted a way that even these originally pure animistic principles were often used by men only for basenesses, whether for the fratricidal battle among men or for the defence of the instinctual life, leading not seldom into a perverted and never satiable sensuality, that is to say, to manifestations which drag down the sublimity of Efredite

Thereby the earthly world of men has surrounded itself with dense veils in which at last, in endless wandering, many stumble exhausted without hope of finding a way out

For the raising of oneself higher through a connection with the spiritual worlds there is, however, no need of any outward artificial supports such as have hitherto been falsely set forth by churchliness, and also by esotericism and by movements which on the surface call themselves spiritual, yet have not the power within them for a real raising of the human spirit upwards towards the Light

Only the volition of the spirit which bears within itself genuineness in its progress forward has value and also the promise of entering upon new paths in the subsequent work of Creation

For this manner of a new life man needs to awaken within himself an all-embracing kindheartedness and openness towards the world and also towards other men

Many men are in this direction still filled with an inner mistrust that with such an approach the world will not change and they will only suffer harm

In their hearts there still remains the thorn of mistrust sown by the experiences of earlier generations, which knew betrayal and hatred many times over and therefore in the end always returned to the original manner of life upon the animistic principle of nature, for it offered them a tangible support for survival on Earth

Now, however, the time is here when a soil of trust is to be formed among men who strive for higher and more luminous values

To such does the Spirit of Christ bend down in this grave time

And the Ray of Parzival brings to this striving all the needed strengthening and also protection from the Light for every man prepared to stride forward with courage

A sign of movement in the degree of ripeness of the human spirit is precisely the all-embracing volition for good and for purity under all circumstances, even if earthly it should at the outset mean for him a delay or even a step backwards

In the purification, which is the needful foundation for the ascent of every man and in which all force is devoted to the genuineness of the foundation of the ascent, lies the most precious thing which the human spirit can now do

In this cleansing lies that change in the ordering of the world towards a new outlook, for only the purity and the genuine openness of individuals can establish a new state of trust, which today lies wholly in ruins

His portion of trustworthiness everyone can contribute without the need of anything extraordinary

Yes, truly the way to the spiritual heights and the way to the raising of this hitherto so restless earthly world lies in that portion of trustfulness which we hold in our own hands

What all this means, what it contains within itself for man, not even the greatest part of those who are honestly striving are able to realise today

It means above all a complete stripping off of dissimulations and disguises in all the things which man brings into the world

Thereby the greatest part of the present endeavours of men will pass away, of men who devote all their forces to precisely this, to the forming of a different image of themselves for others and for themselves as well

There is, however, to be no sorrow and no bitterness over it, for it is the necessary foundation for a new building up, which will find its blessing in the Laws of Creation

As a result it will bring that so greatly sought liberation and together with it an influx of new creative forces

The pressure of the time demands a stepping out of the forms which have lasted for thousands of years and which have worked themselves deep into the body of every man, in order to lead him in life only to secondary things which seemingly appear important

Now, however, is the time for the entry upon the rule of the spiritual inner being, which longs for the true fulfilment of life

And only this state, within and without, will make it possible for man that his spirit may be permitted to find the connection with the Luminous currents in Creation, appointed for the building up of the new spiritual path through the subsequent work of Creation, which leads upwards to Paradise, the spiritual home in the blessed gardens of the ripe spirits
