The principle of the necessity of movement of all that is animistic which incarnates into animal bodies in the materialities is administered and upheld by the sublime servant Haerthemis

Every animal, every single creature which comes to its consciousness in a body upon Earth follows the principle of the necessary movement which Haerthemis weaves into its paths

The movement which drives all things forward Haerthemis draws in part for her work out of the vehemence of Hareiars

A seething which drives, and which leads to it that all which has an inclination to slow down more than is prescribed for its kind is struck by the arrow of Haerthemis and thereby marked for the hunt, or for the assault of another creature

A certain harshness, at which men often take fright, prevails in the working of this servant

She, however, heeds it not, for it is her task, wherein lie precisely the wisdom and the healing power of the cycle of nature

Haerthemis bears within herself a sparkling brightness and purity, and this purity she weaves into the need of the healing movement of all the creatures over which in this her kind of service she rules

Being in many places at one time, she walks always with her light step and looks down upon the creatures which quicken the world of nature

Beauty and loveliness fill her animistic body with freshness and with strength, which at the same time, however, does not lack delicacy and a lovely fragility

Her long tresses are often gathered up beneath a silvery helmet, upon whose crown, similarly as with the helmet of Haetheine, there spread out snow-white wings

Her perfect countenance of virginal beauty is framed on both sides by two strands of her hair, which curl lightly into a kind of twisted ringlets and thus flow down upon her shoulders, on which there are silvery clasps holding her long robe and at the same time forming a kind of part of the armour protecting her snow-white arms

Flowing and free is her robe, yet in spite of that it lets the grace and the lightness of her movement stand forth

At her very slender waist the robe is drawn in by a silvery metal girdle, which is high and again forms a protection of her fragility

Her whole appearance is the expression of harmony and of an unceasing, enrapturing mobility

Often her walking may seem a dance, or a certain hovering above the places which her watchful gaze follows

Her one hand grasps an arched silvery bow, and in the other hand she grasps with her slender fingers an arrow ready to be set upon the string

The quiver which she has at her side never comes to emptiness, for the arrows within it renew themselves in the unceasing fulfilling of the principle of her service

The loosing of her arrow is always the guide to an emphatic manifesting of the law of movement, in which all in the realm of earthly life must lastingly vibrate

A halting, or even only a slackening in movement, forebodes the striking of the arrow and the bringing of the threads which fulfil the fateful end

Haerthemis inexorably watches and to a certain degree pursues every animal, every creature, for the principle of her working is drawn out of the law of movement and of the development springing from it

Many animals seek to hide from her arrows in the protection of the other animistic servants, of the delicate Alphar and Aesir, who from time to time find friendship in a union with animals, as also with men

It is the servant Haetheine who protects many animal mothers with their young from the arrows of Haerthemis

Her shield turns aside the arrows which have flown from the bow of Haerthemis, and thus many animal mothers are given the opportunity to defend themselves and to escape the fate which presses towards them in the severe demand for mobility on the part of Haerthemis

The protection from Haetheine is not, however, given in order that the animals may huddle slothfully in her protection and need not exert themselves to movement

On the contrary, Haetheine offers protection only to those who long to use this protection with all their strength for the unfolding of their gifts

Thus the protective colouring that has been developed, offering a merging with the surroundings, is a gift to the animals from the sublime Haetheine

To this gift there came thereafter the answer of Haerthemis in the concealment of those animals which, under the command of her arrows, hunt the marked, unfortunate beasts

This in order that these hunting animals might, in the inconspicuousness they had gained, draw near to the animals that are hunted

Haerthemis through her principle bestowed for this upon the beasts of prey teeth, curved beaks, claws and strength

In answer to this Haetheine brought as a gift to the animals fleeing under her protection swiftness and agility for flight, hard hoofs and horns for defence

Upon that Haerthemis armed her animals likewise with agility, with swiftness, with the art of lying in wait

Haetheine taught those under her protection to seek out and to make hiding-places for themselves, to gather into numerous herds and much else

Thus the animals of all kinds and forms, under this inspiring of their protectors, were and are permitted to develop mutually always towards a higher consciousness, which lies in their full-valued strength and in their will to survive

All this held good until man gradually intervened in these principles with his influence upon the life on Earth

He was to help to raise through his spirituality all things, including the animals, to the degree of an ennobling of their mutual battle into an alertness of a still higher kind

He was gradually, through his spiritual power, to gain for himself the love of the animals, their natural subordination, and in this subordination to lead them to a higher progress of consciousness

This, however, has not yet been wholly fulfilled, and so the animals remain upon the same degree, and moreover they face the streams of softness and of weakness which press towards them out of the delusion of the thought forms of the human world

Long since the pure influence of the principle of Haerthemis no longer holds good in the animal realm, and thus the world of animals also languishes, collapses into itself and dies out

Haerthemis turned already thousands of years ago to Hareiars with the entreaty for his help

As the answer to her entreaty, however, there rang out the voice of Odin, who promised her the coming of Him who will set all things straight and will bring the raising of all life

With joy Haerthemis, together with the other servants of Valhalla, awaits the fulfilment of the promise, when the Ray of Parzival will irradiate every distortion and will bring refreshment to that which is again to return to its pure service in full strength

Haerthemis was always the patroness of those men who, in a right vibrating together with her service, hunted game in that they themselves followed her delicate arrows, which marked which beast was to be felled and taken

This co-operation, however, long ago collapsed, in the distortion of human volition, into the mass slaughter of all creatures

And so now it is Haerthemis herself who on the contrary aims her arrows at these hunters and at many other men, for it has been permitted to her that also among earthly men, who otherwise as spiritual creatures stood outside her principle, she should manifest her aggressiveness, harshly urging to movement and to healing

Her unerring shafts assail many men, in whom the arrow marks the place which is to be struck by an illness against which there is no protection save only the protection that lies in spiritual awakening, in lasting inward movement

The luminous arrows of the sublime Haerthemis flash through the world of men and strike inexorably with a precision which never fails

Following her arrows the most manifold visible and invisible creatures press forward, in order to fall upon the marked man and justly to repay his wavering and his immobility

Therefore there are so many creatures which bite into man and suck his strength, for these places are always shown to them beforehand by the arrow of Haerthemis

Therefore so many plagues and diseases, which in their time spread among men like an inextinguishable fire

The arrows of Haerthemis cannot be escaped, one cannot hide from them, nor develop a defence against them by earthly means

The arrow always finds its way, for the effect of its impact always has a given span of time for its manifestation

It need not manifest itself at once, but the arrow that has been loosed remains lodged in the place it has struck and waits for the opportunity of the radiation of the stars, or of a weakening of the organism

Never will the purely earthly alertness and protection of man be such that the arrow of Haerthemis would not in some way overcome them

He who longs for protection from the striking of the arrow of Haerthemis needs to awaken in his inner being and to give to his spirit that degree of luminosity which alone can protect him from the stroke

A certain degree of luminosity, which is radiated out through the purity and the joyfulness of man, makes it possible that the arrow is not loosed, or, if it is already in flight, that it glances aside and either does not strike at all, or only lightly, whereby all can then be balanced out more symbolically

In that case man is then assailed by the creature which follows the arrow, but his protection will not permit the manifestation of the illness at all, or at least not its unfolding in full, destroying strength

Many spirits, however, may be struck, because their time here is ended and they may develop further in joyful recognition upon the paths through the more luminous planes of the lighter spheres of this Subsequent Creation

Such a striking is not a punishment, but it may be regarded as a progress in the release from material existence

It is therefore not fitting to hold fear and dread of the arrows of Haerthemis

The inhabitants of the ancient peoples knew the power of her shafts and also the precision of her strokes

They never feared nor hid themselves from the nearness of Haerthemis, but bore proudly any striking by her arrow, for they knew that in her shafts there is contained the message of a higher power deciding upon their destiny here on Earth

They also knew that only heroism and a pure manner of fulfilling life could protect them, together with Haetheine, from being struck by the arrow earlier than the true fulfilment of their time here should come

At the same time they always held within themselves the right vigilance, the right alertness and a natural protection against injuries and diseases

If man in his striving walks purely and honourably in every day, if he is alert, not taking risks merely out of folly or out of conceit, and if his mind is directed in the wise recognising of the Laws of Creation towards the spiritual home, then such a one, even when he is struck, receives at the same time the protection for healing or the grace of a light path into the more luminous planes

It is needful only to bear within oneself courage and freedom from bondage to the earthly material world

Such men are esteemed by all the sublime servants who work in radiant faithfulness to Valhalla

They then stand at the hand of everyone and with joy help him upwards

This, however, earthly men do not comprehend, for they lack the dimension of a higher survey of existence, which was long ago lost and became only a part of ancient myths and legends, and thus their struggle with matter is all the more dogged and toilsome than it was ever meant to be

Here upon Earth men today lack the right survey, which should long since have been here

In this survey there would also be rightly comprehended all the working of the sublime animistic Servants

Then men would purely accord with their glorious working and would also experience their life as a part of the great path of ascent to the spiritual planes

Thereby they would create for themselves the surest protection for their working in the earthly, for their movement and their alertness would always be bound with the wisdom which recognises what is right and what therefore leads the human spirit forward, however much in the earthly world this may sometimes appear as the undergoing of struggle and of hardship in survival

Much still remains hidden for the comprehending of the human spirit here upon Earth, because he does not long to recognise the true greatness of the Will of God working therein

Much will still have to be experienced before the human world at last presses through to the manner of a creative and upbuilding walking through life

Although all this seems very far away, to every one of us there come every day the impulses towards this advance in recognition

It rests with us alone whether we are ready rightly to comprehend and to receive all that happens around us

The sublime Haerthemis is in this direction for us one of the host of great helpers who incline towards the Earth in the service of helping man through their working upon his way forward

She summons unceasingly to a healthy movement in all doing, to a movement which is also supremely important for our spirit

Let us use rightly all the impulses which summon us to inward and to outward movement

The spirit blazes up with every living movement which arises out of independent reflection and out of the intuitive feeling of all that life brings to us with each new day
