Efredite is a faithful servant of the Light, working in Valhalla, under the noble Herferide
Efredite is the administrator of the threads which stream between all living creatures, in all the world-parts of the Subsequent Creation, of the threads which awaken in every one of the creatures the forces for the seeking of an ideal counterpart with whom it may fully experience a part of its way in gross materiality
From all time Efredite inspires towards the fulfilment of the sacred bond of two loving beings, because her task, which she received from the noble Herferide, is to strengthen the creatures towards uniting, for the coming generations
In her task there is something of the fairy tale, something enchanting, something which allows scarcely any of men to sleep
In all creatures and also in men she awakens a pure longing for the drawing near to a counterpart, for her threads are bound up with the maintaining of life in the great division of gross materiality, wherein also all that is humanly spiritual, in order to be able to ripen, must repeatedly receive the opportunity for a new life in gross materiality
Therefore Efredite sends forth her radiation as a principle calling upon all creatures to beget new life
For this she has helped to create all the related matters which in the union of two counterparts let there be experienced a state of fulfilment, of highest refreshment, which among men is called being in love
Her originating radiation vibrates in the purest kind of delicate threads, which are far removed from any baseness, but bear within themselves only glory and nobility of character
Noble and delicate is also her sheath, which bears a gracefulness of the highest kind, and among the Aesir themselves she is perceived as the one whose favour everyone wishes to win and for whom everyone is also ready to do all things
Her countenance is a work of perfect beauty and of fairy-tale loveliness
Golden strands of hair, clasped by a shining circlet, fall like long streams of light, or else in delicacy they float about Efredite as an enchanting radiance surrounding her
A perfect symmetry pervades her whole being, and in her every movement there blazes the brightness of gracefulness and of harmony
Her walk seems to be a dance, a floating upon a sun-illumined cloud, upon which she also as a rule appears to those who see
A flowing, gleaming white shining, delicate raiment makes her charm still more attracting
A beauty of the heavenly kind is inseparable from her radiation, which works into the far distances of the worlds
She herself inclines from the heights of Valhalla towards her beloved star Astarte, which, serving pure womanhood, receives also a part of the streams from the radiation of Efredite
Efredite floats above the worlds as the primordial image of ideal beauty here in the Subsequent Creation
She has always enchanted poets, and many bold ones sought to draw near to her in the nourishing of a hope which in the end always had to prove vain, for Efredite is unattainable to all, in her animistically virginal origin untouchable by anyone
Perhaps for this reason also many human spirits fall in love with her, because from the beginning she appears unattainable and thereby outwardly as belonging to no one
She belongs, however, to O-dio-nar, whom she serves as a sacred lute whose strings cause the state of being in love to resound in the inner beings of all creatures in the gross material worlds
By her kind of radiance Efredite in part sets even Herferide herself in the background, out of whom, however, she arose to her consciousness, as one ray of her fulfilment
The comeliness and the perfection of her personality in Valhalla calls forth in the circles of life a repeatedly arising undulation, which immediately awakens also in the Aesir themselves the longing to give forth from themselves, as proofs for her favour, their strength, their might, their heroism, their courage, their dexterity in their working
At the same time she awakens in all the Aesir a reverent chivalry
Even the otherwise wild Hareiars, who does not look too much to the sides about him, tames his vehemence and his implacability whenever he is permitted to draw within sight of the grace-filled Efredite
It is a singular, resonating kind of radiation which lower down in the universe, in union with matter, calls forth the vibration of a pure being in love in men and the vibration of a pure instinctiveness in the animal creatures in nature
All life, from the smallest to the greatest kind in gross materiality, is driven to the fulfilment of this task, for, save for isolated exceptions, the principle of the radiation of Efredite is woven into the bodily nature of every one of the creatures
Everyone bears within himself the touch of the ray of Efredite, and this awaits in him the call which comes like a flying arrow, which suddenly, in one single moment, causes to resound the delicate tone of an enamoured ringing, until then slumbering in his inner being
This happening comes about because in that moment there has appeared precisely for him the counterpart who through her attraction caused the trembling sound to resound, awakened a delicate receptivity and often at the same time awakened also a singular courage to win in some way the attention of this counterpart
All that until then was at rest in man suddenly breaks out to the surface as an irrepressible force, precipitately changing much that hitherto remained untouched by the ray of being in love which has just now appeared in his life
It seethes in him like a singular fever of delirium for the other, a fever which alternates with the chill of the fears of a timid trembling that he will not be sufficient in the eyes of the other for the returning of affection
All things turn like a world which has never been here before and in which all things sing and blossom into colourfulness
The flaring up of being in love is something glorious and pure
This holds good for every earnest wooing for the nearness of a counterpart
In all earthly creatures, in the wide range of their kinds, it is always so
Yet man, alas, yields to this vibration often far too frivolously, without the pure ideality which inseparably belongs to it
Man does not seek in earnest a counterpart with whom he might mutually return a long enduring union in a relationship, but seeks for the most part only the discharging of an irritated instinctiveness
Never did the noble Efredite send forth her radiation as an incitement to that which many men have made of her mission
Outwardly it may appear that Efredite is bound up with the wretchedness of base bodily desires, that her kind of female being is connected with this fallen condition upon Earth and that therefore it is the fault of Efredite, what takes place here among men
Efredite, however, remains wholly far removed from that which, under the tempting effect of the fallen archangel Lucifer, men themselves have made of her principle upon Earth
At the time when the fallen one drew near to Asgard and longed to subdue proud Valhalla, he turned his gaze also upon the fragile Efredite
His cunning pursued her and offered her dominion over whole worlds
In shyness Efredite took refuge in the protection of the high walls of the sanctuary of Valhalla, where she bowed before the throne of O-dio-nar and besought protection
A host of the mighty Aesir, led by Hareiars, thereupon at once stepped upon the ramparts above Asgard in readiness for battle with the fallen archangel
Then Lucifer withdrew, and in his knowledge of the lawful connections he wove a plan which he built upon the threads streaming from Efredite, threads which could never be halted
By a strengthening of the vibration of these threads he created a temptation which poured itself among earthly mankind as a longing for pleasure of the bodily kind
In man he awakened an unceasing urge to seize for himself the inward treasure of woman, through her outward bodiliness, for his pleasure and for the claiming of offspring
And in woman he awakened the recognition that her spiritual spark in union with outward bodiliness is an attracting bridle with which she can easily have dominion over man in gross matter
Finally he made use of the radiation of Efredite still more masterfully, in that he raised earthly motherhood to be the highest task of woman
Thereby he built upon the foundation of the pure streams of Efredite a distorted direction of the volition of earthly men, a direction which could not lead upwards, but bound, and today all the more binds, the hosts of the unhappy victims of this temptation only to matter, wherein they wander confusedly as uprooted and humiliated in their spiritual fall
Men in their immaturity and delusion reached after the ways wrongly set by Lucifer
Woman ceased to mediate to man and to the whole earthly world the pure streams of the spiritual kind, and man ceased to require them of her, for in exchange for this the experiencing of sensuality in the nearness of woman sufficed him
Cast off by woman was the noble service wherein the weaving of the refreshing luminous spiritual streams from the heights is to be her very first and also her highest mission
The voices of the purer and the wiser, who warned against this among men, fell upon barren ground and became the object of mockery and of persecution
With pain Efredite now looks down from above upon how in the materialities her principle, which out of her nature she cannot halt, is misused by men and dragged down into an empty, discharging form which drains away from the spirit its powers instead of mediating them to it
Her radiation, however, contains within itself, in pure form, a blessing and a strengthening descending from the primordially created islands of the Light, wisely fitted for the kind of gross matter here
She can change nothing in this, for her mission is to mediate the vibration directed towards the uniting of creatures within their own kind
Yet her principle always vibrates in pure threads, which at the same time stimulate in all those touched by her radiation the forces for the raising of themselves to the highest nobility of character
Thus in the human race there were and also are awakened through her working radiations not only of the kind of being in love, but above all an awakening to a noble reverence towards the beloved counterpart
With the human spirit it cannot be otherwise than that in the right attunement he gradually transforms the first uplifting being in love between two men into a reverent mutuality, wherein the pure intuitive perceptions of a common loving, spiritual striving upwards are fulfilled
This transformation then binds itself to the bodiliness of the relationship only as to a supplementary exchange of radiation, which is ever more and more replaced by the purely spiritual accord of two independent spiritual personalities, supporting one another in the virtues upon the way to the luminous spiritual home
From a certain degree of the spiritual maturity of man the radiation of Efredite is ever more supplemented by the human spirit with the clear shining of his spiritual nature, and bodiliness together with sensuality are thereafter wholly subordinated to the pure will of a higher spiritual volition
The human spirit in himself needs nothing of this for his ripening, yet his earthly body needs it, wherein he is incarnated and wherein everything for this is laid down through the working of Efredite
The human spirit, advanced in his development, can gradually be freed from the vibrations of Efredite also in the earthly covering
The nature of the human inner being is wisely to have dominion over all the forces taking place in the body
This, however, is not to take place in an antagonism of the forces of matter and of the spirit
Never are these magnitudes to struggle in conflict, but, to the joy of Efredite herself, there are laid into man harmonising, fulfilling prototypes appointed for the ascending line of spiritual ennobling, which is at the same time naturally anchored in the earthly plane of matter
Man, in all his types and colours of skin, can be uplifted by his spirit whenever he so wills, for there is nothing stronger than the longing of a spirit striving towards the Light
The Subsequent Creation is a work proceeding from the volition of the purely spiritual planes with the blessing of the Will of God
There is here at the foundation nothing which would in itself be impure, dragging down the human spirit upon his way to the Light
All radiations are in natural harmony so ordered as to be supporting and strengthening
The condition for this, however, is the maintaining of purity and of a healthy balance
Whatever deviates to the one or to the other side begins gradually to sink into unhealthiness and into clouding
The rays of the radiation of Efredite themselves thus lead the human spirit from the beginning, in balance, to this, that at the given degree of his life he may raise himself above instinctive sensuality and bodiliness in such a way that he will look up to new horizons of his striding upon this Earth
Efredite sends to the human kind also the being in love as vibrations which again and again are able to awaken a pure refreshment of the relationship between man and woman, should monotony and the commonplaceness of existence seek to creep into their life together
The gaze upon the beloved counterpart with the awareness of reverence and with the longing to show one's intuitive perceptions, that is the catching of the rays springing forth from the principle of the glorious servant Efredite, who perhaps in that very moment looks down gladdened upon man from the height of her temple, which in a great circle revolves about proud and mighty Valhalla
This renewed state of being in love can be awakened in every moment of life, in the living together with the beloved counterpart
Again and again it is possible to awaken to life that pure and guileless being in love which leads to a new upsurge of mighty forces in man
At the same time, however, it holds good that the human spirit can fully work and experience his spiritual development without the need of the radiation of Efredite
His union with the Light is what determines the measure of the working of the radiation descending to him from the blessed Efredite
Thus he who truly strives for spiritual ascent will be released degree by degree from the influence of Efredite, and his working will at last be wholly freed from her kind of radiation
This, however, demands a true clinging to the high spiritual streams, and this state is granted to man as a rule only in a higher bodily age
In all things it is needful only to behold the glory of naturalness, which is always closely connected with the spiritual progress of man
Thus also human souls which meet here on Earth and feel towards one another the attraction of counterparts, although they find themselves at a degree of maturity which has brought them into bodies of the same, male or female, kind, can experience together a relationship of reverence and of mutuality
Out of this relationship there will then arise for them a blessing and a strengthening upon their way, for the pure intuitive perceptions will soon again call forth a strengthening of womanly delicacy in the one of them, or a strengthening of manliness in the other
Thereby there will be set in train a gradual amending of the discord between the inner being and the outward covering of the body, whereupon in their further development such souls will go already upon the right ways in pure accord with the Laws of Creation
The condition for such an ordering of the ways, towards which a certain kind of help and blessing may then incline, lies in the heeding of the principle of being in love which inclines into the materialities from Efredite
The relationship of two such souls is, however, not to have the fulfilment of bodily union, for the strengthenings and the streams of refreshing radiation contained therein are granted exclusively to that union wherein there is the possibility of the direct arising of a new fruit
Souls drawn to one another in bodies of the same kind are far from this blessing and are to become aware of the fulfilment of their relationship not in mutual bodiliness, but in a relationship of friendship, of reverence and of the helping denial of all that in their bodily uniting would mean only a humiliation and a trampling of the true gift which lies in the union of a male and a female earthly body for the purpose of the fulfilment of the bond in the opportunity of granting a new incarnation to another soul
Such souls as stand firm in this and maintain a pure relationship of mere friendly completing will receive from Efredite, in new opportunities of incarnating themselves, a manifold blessing for a loving relationship which may flare up between man and woman
Where, however, the said sacred union is dragged down and there is no striving for liberation from the bonds of baseness, there Haetheine intervenes unconditionally, as the guardian of the purity of the race and of motherhood
Then such all too deluded men of the same sex expose themselves to this, that their further way will go through a still greater burden and that in further incarnations they will perhaps bear even visible afflictions of their earthly sheath, so that their experiencing may not have even in part the opportunity, nor even the desire, for the experiencing of being in love
In this, however, it is needful again to find only a grace-filled help, which looks above all to the spiritual goal of the way of man, a goal which lies high above all material experiencing
Efredite brings to the human spirit a far greater help and strengthening than he has hitherto observed in his distorted seeing
Great works could that fulfilment of being in love mediate to this world, for the forces slumbering in this pure being in love are immense and uplifting
Every one of men who has at least once known within himself the vibrations of being in love towards a dear counterpart, every such one ought also to wish for other men the experiencing of the gift of a true being in love upon their way through life
Let us hold in esteem the radiation of the noble Efredite and let us deal with her blessing as she expects
In right knowledge, all the rays inclining from her lead the human spirit to an uplifting and to an ennobling of morals in the dealings between man and woman in all the hours of life
