Meadow slopes bathed in light raise themselves ever higher and higher into the distances, where they converge in a vaulted arch into a radiantly blinding summit high above space
We walk through these blossoming places, directing ourselves towards the distant Light, which resembles a white shining diamond
The meadows round about change gradually into peace-filled groves of primordially ancient mighty trees, from whose freshly green crowns there gaze down, among golden fruits, peculiar beings resembling snow-white owls
They are the Hesperides, who from time to time draw near to the Earth, veiled in a femininely virginal beauty, in order to bring to human spirits, for their tasting, the knowledge of the eternal cycle of the materialities
Their great eyes observe with wise calm everyone who passes here, for they know beforehand of all that will come to pass
In the knowing gaze of these unearthly glorious, wisdom-abounding, winged beings there is contained more knowledge than in the learning of the whole world of men
All around it rustles with Life, which vibrates here so strongly that with its fullness of faithfully accomplished service it penetrates in every moment into our consciousness and brings about a jubilant tension in the breast, as though this were about to fly asunder
In everything there is a peculiar trembling, a roaring, a humming, or only a quiet tautening, and together it sounds in the end like the lovely tones of delicate harps upon which, in the time of the joyful celebrations of the Eternal One, the blissfully uplifted beings of the Sylphs play
An indescribable kind of gloriously sounding pulsation is contained in everything
It is contained even in the vast cushions of emerald mosses, of which there are here carpets beyond all seeing
Spreading out into the distance, with every breathing forth of their balmy fragrance they invite to a peace-filled repose in the laying of oneself into their embrace
Omnipresent is the joyful calling of the living, bubbling springs, of which there is here an endless multitude and each of which invites to refreshment for the further way
The golden fern known to the Druids, singing of the eternity of being, borders the foot of the trees, whose spreading crowns have no comparison in the earthly world of trees
Mighty bluish stones, overgrown with another kind of delicate golden-green moss, tower in their massiveness into the height and, like a fabled colonnade, border the way that leads upwards through the groves here
All is bathed in an ever more brightly shining silvery white Light, which in places descends downwards in streams, like a delicate nebula
Such are the sacred groves and meadows of the lower circle of Asgard, upon whose summit only then Valhalla herself rises, bathed in a snow-white radiance, above which there hovers a crown of a silvery golden lustre
The most glorious scenes of earthly nature are, over against these places upon the forecourts of Valhalla, only dim pictures, appearing as a pale reflection of the life here, overflowing with fullness, the life of the purely animistic landscapes
Blissful and refreshed we pass through these places and walk ever further and higher
Beyond these groves the grey-blue walls of rock begin to rear themselves steeply into the heights, walls whose height, it seems, cannot be overcome
From some parts of the rocks waters come rolling down and with a roaring they feed the lakes which spread out among the wide groves
The Light shining from the heights lets the sharpness of the rocks stand forth here and there, rocks which tower here as the protecting ramparts of Valhalla
The spirit, however, floats upwards along them
The faces of the rough and sharp stone walls rise again and again, higher and higher, as though they were to have no end
Suddenly, however, these crags do come to an end after all, and before the gaze of the visitor there spreads out a plateau of fabled beauty
It is hard to capture in words all that holds the gaze of him who arrives
It is the breath of the wind, which here trembles through the delicate grasses as through a green sea and in a whisper asks what he seeks here who enters this place
Is it the flying snow-white Alphar who bear messages into one or another of the parts of the materialities, those parts of Creation which spread out deep beneath this place
Is it the radiance which comes forth from the places where the first white buildings of a rough yet exceedingly glorious, perfect appearance gaze down from their height towards the visitor
Is it the sacred heights of the rulers of the elements, whence these work with their volition far into the distances of the material worlds
Is it the lustre of the seat of Odin, which seems to be still so very high above this place and yet blinds and shines like the gleam of the mightiest jewel illumined by the rays of a supra-cosmic sun
The quiet rustling of the crowns of the enormous oaks, and also of mango trees and baobabs, proclaims on every side the tidings of the newly arrived one
A spiritual servant has stepped into the nearness of sacred Valhalla
If he has been admitted thus far by the guardians of Hiemdall, who with keenness watch over the lower bridge that leads hither out of the ethereal materialities, then he has the right to walk further
The voices of the drooping crowns of the great trees resembling huge willows ask curiously in a whisper: “Is it a hero whom the Valkyries bore up over the insurmountable heights in their arms, the snow-white women servants in silver armour with wings upon which their alabaster-white plumage gleams?”
“Oh, for a long time indeed nothing of the kind has come to pass, that out of the materialities of Ephesus one of the human spirits should be permitted to ascend even hither”
“It is a visitor whom the Will of Parzival has sent hither, that he may bring near the glory of this place and set straight the distortion which circulates upon the Earth concerning the life of Valhalla” thus it whispers through space
Then the groves of the trees here rustle with joy and the song of the Alphar descends as a greeting to him who, in humble holding of his breath, receives all that surrounds him here
How wholly other is all this in the nearness of Valhalla, over against the human conceptions which describe this place in legends
Life here is mightier, more glorious than the human mind can form, wholly other, peculiar in its kind, for this place where the purely animistic dwells is not touched by a spirituality which would have influence here, as is the case in other parts of Creation
All, wondrously bound to one another, is the manifestation of a rough yet at the same time perfect, pure harmony
Through all these places there streams a living volition, which fulfils itself in a ceaselessly weaving movement
Every inhabitant has here his place and his activity, allotted to him by a higher volition, wherein he works, and his joy and his pride raise this service to the glory of a great faithful fulfilling
Each of the kinds of forces, of which earthly mankind does not even know many, indeed does not even divine that they exist, has here its starting-point, its spring
The forces of the elements vibrate in a wreath woven into a circle of far cosmic dimensions
The wreath of the elements, formed by a mighty power, spreads out in a circle, at a far remove about the seat of Odin, which is the centre of this wreath and at the same time the highest temple of Valhalla
VALHALLA
Snow-whitely shining, mighty colonnades bear the building whose roof gleams with gold, and into which there flows unceasingly, in a living happening, the ray of Light streaming from the heights from Mercury, out of the Castle of the Grail
VALHALLA
The sacred place of the temple is filled with forces which are not bearable for anyone who is not of the same kind or who has not been given a special protection
The rulers of the forces of the elements all bear within themselves a part of the radiation of the kind of Mercury, for he is their connecting starting-point from above downwards
Also the extolling of Parzival and of God the Father, rising in a joyful rhythm out of the hall of Odin in Valhalla, hastens first to the Primordially Eternal Mercury and through him is directed higher to Parzival
Mighty is the circling of the forces about each of the servants of Valhalla, and it surrounds him like a radiance out of which there often flash forth lightnings bearing a new manifestation of volition in creative working
The rays flying forth from the heights of the faithfully serving administrators of the forces plunge into the distances of the nebulous materialities, bearing into them the light and the warmth of animation, and with this original power they form them, knead them and also dissolve them, if the time for it has come
In spite of these incomprehensibly mighty currents weaving the luminous threads of the rays and the lightnings, Valhalla is a place of an animistically childlike pure, living joy
A joyful fulfilling, containing within itself at the same time a thundering and a whistling, blends with the tender currents of the most lovely weaving
It is a peculiar rough blessedness that fills the world of Valhalla in a ceaseless pulsation
Volition, devotion, heroism, earnestness, strength, beauty, genuineness and purity, these are the vibrations which pervade with a rhythmic weaving the life of the rulers of the forces here
Here there exists no inferiority, for it would immediately be cast out into the distances
Here there is no place for distortion, for lack of full worth, for hesitation
Here there is no weakness
Weakness is either a part of pure delicacy, and then it is in reality no weakness, or else, like inferiority, it is immediately hurled down from the rocks which fall menacingly into the depths
All that does not belong here is struck down by the force which streams here unceasingly like the mightiest gale, down over the bridge of Hiemdall, far into the distances of the materialities, into the darkness, that it may be directed towards the grinding down and towards the renewal
In reality nothing inferior nor weak can even draw near hither without a special protection of the radiation of this place
This world is so remote also from all that is humanly spiritual
Upon all that is humanly spiritual it is likewise looked here as upon something fragile and feeble, so long as it does not itself ripen in its faculties into a pure and bright spiritual flame
Only thereafter is such a human spirit received here with reverence, and if there is developed in him one or another of the qualities which enjoy admiration among the servants here, then the human spirit also can, upon his ways through the materialities, win for himself the attention of the rulers here, and subsequently their favour, and help and protection of a higher kind out of the halls of Valhalla
It matters not whether the admiration comes from the rough Aesir or from the more delicate Alphar
Always such favour is a kind of special reverence or lovingness of the animistic world, and therewith there is contained within it a guidance which affords strength for the deed
But woe to him who once disappoints or misuses this favour radiated forth out of Valhalla
He is cast off, and the forces originally joined to him for his help begin to pursue his animistic part even to despair, until he awakens once more to pure striving
For the most part, however, the host of the servants of Valhalla looks down into the materialities of the world part of Ephesus with reserve and with mistrust, and this by reason of the self-absorption and the slyness of men here
Earthly human conduct finds with them no understanding, on account of its craftiness, its duplicity and its baseness
The servants of Valhalla reject the muddy pool of human thoughts and deeds, which is far removed from the purity and the translucency wherein they vibrate
Rejected is all that is cunning and that tempts the weaknesses of others
Therefore also the fallen archangel, in his distorted force and power, accomplished nothing in the halls of Valhalla
Odin, strengthened by the radiation of Mercury, withstood his alluring proposals of service to his plans, and the gates of rough Valhalla closed against the cunning Loki, as he is called here
Neither the guile nor the malice of the banished archangel availed anything
The gates of Valhalla remained firmly closed and withstood all his snares
This heavy time in the Subsequent Creation strengthened all the servants, and they shone forth in a brighter Light, which at the bidding of Parzival Mercury sent to them out of the Castle of the Grail
So much the more, with indescribable joy, was the Ray of Parzival later welcomed, Who, like unto a shining hero and king, upon His journey through Creation entered with His faithful ones also into the halls of Valhalla
Parzival, as a king visible and perceptible to the servants here, blessed them as His faithful ones
The most joyful divine service of all times was here celebrated by all the inhabitants of Valhalla and also in the adjoining spheres where the rulers of the elements work
Adorned were the halls of Valhalla for the honour and the glory of the presence of Parzival and of the knightly retinue accompanying Him
Snow-white birds resembling auks hovered in circles about the spring of eternal power in Valhalla
It was in honour of Parzival and for the joy of Mary and Irmingard, who likewise accompanied their king upon His fulfilling journey through Creation
Of those who entered Valhalla together with Parzival it was precisely also Mary and Irmingard who in their kind brought a special blessing to the Alphar, the more delicate women servants in the animistic working
A blessed radiation of a high kind remained for ever in the halls of Valhalla, and it is tended in the most reverent extolling of Him Who in Valhalla is named the Son of the Eternal Light
Valhalla now, still more than ever before, fulfils her service in the highest devotion to the Light
Proud and rough in appearance, she has thus from the beginning of her forming reared herself into heights reaching even to the places of the spiritual Paradise, that place into which one day those human spirits may enter who have fulfilled their way and have become bright and perfect in their kind
Such are accompanied by the joyful song of the guardians out of Valhalla, for in the fulfilment of the great cycle there lies for all the highest joy and happiness
If one or another of the human spirits has through the manner of his life won for himself a protector in one of the administrators of the forces of the elements, then at his intercession the animistic part of the covering of such a human spirit may be received into the places whence the temple of Odin remains lastingly in sight
The reflection of the living animistic part of the human spirit receives here its own awareness and may take part in the joyful, proud song and in the celebrations which Valhalla experiences in her manner of extolling the Light, God the Father, Parzival, the Grail
All in Valhalla is in lasting movement, and never is there here a standing still
Here the visitor will find none of the human fears and anxieties about what is to come, but solely the readiness for the direct facing of all that draws near
From time to time one of the servants halts quietly, in order to ponder in meditation how his faithfulness may be expressed still better through the fullness of exalted service
It is never, however, for a long time, and upon such a brief stillness there follows as a rule a joyful discharge resembling a radiant swarm of forces which sets whole materialities vibrating
The plunging of these rushing forces into the Laws of Creation then brings refreshment to all who work under the volition of this or that leader of theirs
Thus it finally manifests itself often also in happenings which take place in the uttermost materialities, and therefore also in the earthly kind of the elements
Valhalla, with her kind of working and of weaving in faithful service, will always remain to a certain degree remote from that which is spiritual, for her directness, her pride, her pure roughness is far too strong for a real understanding by the more sensitive inner being of the spiritual inhabitants of Creation
Valhalla has stood from the ages upon her place where she arose, and thanks to her the worlds of the materialities are held, worlds wherein life streams from above downwards and back again from below upwards
Valhalla is to be recognised and received by man as a reverent pattern of faithful service, wherein the fulfilment of the task stands above any partial discomfort in the moment of the present
The unconditional self-sacrifice of the servants of Valhalla the human spirit will never attain, yet in the unfolding of his faculties and gifts he may in the end win for himself the reverence and the admiration of those who daily gaze down towards the materialities from the places of their working upon the heights where the forces and the elements are born
Let us seek, through our purity and our uprightness in life, the connection with glorious, fabled Valhalla
Her blessing can bring us much help and lightening upon our way through this life here and also in the further planes of the work of Creation
Would that we men might at last rightly recognise and receive also the greatness and the pride of the servants who are permitted to work in the shining circle that encompasses the luminous jewel of Valhalla
Near is the time when, in the new age, men will find this lost part of their connection with the working of the high animistic in Creation
Then for a long time peace and fulfilment will reign also upon this Earth, hitherto so restless
