Siphe is an exalted Alphar who swings together with the others in the wide connection of the handmaidens of the Light working in the circle which lies around Valhalla

She is the bearer of the awakening of life in the union of the light and the warmth of Sirius with Erda

Siphe works in the breeze of spring which brings the command for the elves, the sprites and all the beings working about the plants, that these may urge forward the power in the shoots and in the buds to unfold

Siphe has many animistic daughters, of whom three are nearest to her, Siphes, Venes and also Oxanea

These three are the direct handmaidens of Siphe who here upon Earth care for all the life in the plants

Siphes is the handmaiden who with her song awakens the life in the plants in their parts above the ground, in the blossoms, the leaves and the twigs

Her song causes the sap to begin to stream in the plants

Venes works in the soil, she strengthens the sprites and the little root-beings for the work beneath the earth, that the germs of the seeds may awaken and the new rootlets of the plants may sprout forth

In her dance she touches the soil lightly, and thereby she awakens into the far distances the life of the countless army of those who work beneath the surface of the earth about the roots and in the roots of the plants

Oxanea then strengthens the plants in their whole growing strong, she strengthens their blossoms and their fruits, that these may ripen and bring the harvest into the world

The kind of working of this handmaiden spreads itself in blessing over everything that ripens towards the harvest

With wise counsels Oxanea leads the world of the elves and of the sprites upon all the continents, in all the parts of the great land masses

Men of the various colours of skin know her under various names, yet nevertheless it is always Oxanea who works for the support of the growth and of the ripening of the harvest

To her also a part of the thanks is unknowingly rendered when the pure heart of man rejoices over the harvest which has arisen for him in the plants

It is therefore possible to ask Oxanea for strengthening, if man longs for a good result in the cultivation of plants for use

She has in her service the ability to heal and to strengthen the plants without its being needful to rid them of pests by an unnatural way, it suffices only to turn to her with a pure heart and with a true entreaty

The pests will at the right time be led away and the sicknesses will pass

The condition, however, is a pure and childlike trust in the work of Oxanea, of her sisters and of the highest Alphar in this kind of working, the exalted Siphe

The question is, however, whether the man of today has such a pure and childlike trust in his heart as was the case with the ancient peoples, who recognised these Alphar and revered them in their kind of working

Whoever is capable of it may ask these handmaidens of Valhalla for help and also give thanks for the result of the harvest, for they are here upon Earth continually near

Oxanea and her other sisters also rejoice then over every pure thanksgiving of the human spirit, for therein they experience the fulfilment of the Law of Creation, when everything joyful may be joined into one whole common thanks to the Creator

Enchanting are these handmaidens in their simple and yet so wise working in the Laws of Creation

The glory of these exalted Alphar is in truth hardly to be described in words, for within them and around them there works a peculiar kind of delicacy which causes these handmaidens to float and to dance and thereby, in a living, circling harmony, to set in motion pulses of colours of radiant luminosity

For their work they need delicate hands, with which they sow the archetypes of the blossoms and of the fruits of the most manifold kinds

Out of their wide sleeves there descends upon the landscape through which they pass the blessing of their rays, in which there then work hosts of blissful little servants

That they might not be deprived of the glory of the sign which confirms that they too swing in the Will of God, Odin mediated to them the grace, the possibility of transforming their hands into white pinions whenever they long for it, or whenever they need to draw near from the heights of Valhalla to the earthly spheres

They are blissful beings who work for nature and also for man, for they give their tender power thereto, that all the other little beings may be permitted to bring to life the blossoms and the fruits in the plants

There, where for various reasons the little elves and sprites themselves are not present, which is often owing to the disturbing, ill-disposed working of man, there the principle which these handmaidens send forth works of itself, and thanks to this principle the plants grow and also bear blossoms and fruits, because it is a matter of the fulfilment of a law of nature

Yet there, where the little servants are permitted to be present, there the beauty and the radiance of the plants is many times multiplied, for their nearness, the touches of their delicate archetypes of the plants, brings a strengthening which finally manifests also in the appearance and the full value of the plants recognisable to man

The principle is therefore always preserved, and if the fundamental conditions for the growth of the plants are fulfilled, there man will always have a certain harvest and gain from the soil

Never, however, will such a harvest be bound up with the blessed, blissful power which can be woven into it only by the direct connection of the elves and the sprites working in the joyful fulfilment of the commands of the handmaidens who work around the exalted Siphe

Siphe, even as Erda herself, bears heavily the betrayal by the human spirit of the co-operation with her blessed currents, and in the expectation of the inflow of the radiation of the Ray of Parzival she prepares herself for the time when mankind will be led back to the hearkening to her counsels

Now, however, she still walks with an inward pain over the human deformities which have been made out of nature everywhere where man intervenes in the world of the plants and of the animals

In incomprehension the most beautiful Siphe turns her gaze away from the work of man, and all those who in the world of the animistic service see her pain make known to man his guilt against the sublimity of these delicate handmaidens filled with nobility of character

In one part of the earth Neptune has given the command for the closing of the springs of the waters, in another his mighty servant Okeanos lets the massif of the fields of ice be beaten upon daily, that the seas and the oceans may drink of the power laid up within them

Each of the broken-off pieces of ice releases hidden forces which of themselves would easily destroy whole parts of the human world, yet there is a waiting, and only gradually is this power drawn up by Orkanos into the layers of the air, where it waves and trembles in impatience until Thonorun gives the command which will unloose the forces of the airy elements to unprecedented dimensions

Hosts of small servants tend the vermin which is to be released, and against which the present onslaughts of crawling and of flying insects are but a light trembling before the storm

Out of the earth there creep stones and dust, borne up to the surface by the gnomes, who through the long evenings tell one another the tales of how in ancient times their brothers made, in a short while, out of the fertile and succulent corners of the earth vast deserts and lifeless wastelands

Apollo glows through the sun to support the work of Neptune, for he knows that all is but a preparation for the earthly years that are coming

Sirius sows a glowing heat over all the regions of every continent

He digs his fingers into the frozen soil and releases mighty currents which hasten again to the airy servants under the leading of Orkanos

Out of the hitherto frozen earth there creeps a minute life which bears within it the power to destroy the resistance of living creatures, including man himself

All is made ready for the call from the heights whence comes the Ray of Parzival, heralded by the Messenger of the Light flying through the universe

Each one is in his place and in the preparations awaits the stroke that calls to the deed

This stroke will bring the intervention of the vehement Hareiars

The wounds caused to Siphe and to her daughters will pain mankind more than it can surmise

Yet after all this, when these currents have swept over the Earth, she will arise new in the purification and, to the incomprehension of many, strengthened in her beauty and her fruitfulness

Men surmise nothing of the work of the servants working around the Earth, upon the earth and in the earth

Therefore we also know nothing of the great blessing which is hidden in their forces in the form of fruitfulness and fertility, which, however, they will never grant to the man of today in his hitherto insensitive, predatory attitude

Only to the men who change for the better and in ardent union will hearken to the quiet song of Siphe and of her daughters will there arise a blessing such as for the present we do not know today

Would that we might, even today, be able to perceive more of the spheres in which the servants of Mercury work

Would that we might be able to hearken to them and to thank them for the activity with which they hold the course of the universe and the world of nature within the bounds of the wise Laws of Creation

Would that we might already today be able to live in co-operation with these faithful servants of the Grail
