Thonorun is one of the highest servants of Mercury, working under Odin in the animistic realm in this universe and here upon Earth

Through Mercury he looks upwards to the Grail, and in the highest reverence he bows before his king, Parzival

Thonorun is the appointed executor of the guidance by Mercury of many happenings in the materialities

From the beginning of the material planes he fulfils his task in proud service

He works through the lightnings in the storms, and through the discharges he lets the power which he administers radiate forth

In one of his tasks he also purifies, with the strokes of his power, the world of the thoughts of men

Yet in his mission he has far more kinds of fulfilment

Thonorun, the servant faithful to Parzival, bears in his name the sound “He who through the power of his mission faithfully serves the Son of the Light Who reigns upon the Holy Throne

Mighty in his unfettered appearance, he has, like those who rule over him, Mercury working in the heights and Odin in Valhalla, a helmet out of which there rise broad snow-white pinions, signifying the faithfulness of the service in the Will of God

His long red beard seems to stream continually in movement and to unite with his brightly glowing hair, which likewise holds itself in unceasing movement about the noble features of his mature countenance

Like Odin, Thonorun too has a part of the hair along his temples plaited into two narrow braids, which frame his cheeks

The great figure of Thonorun is a perfect forming of a living flame joined with a metallic aspect, in which there is mirrored an unshakable working that presses forward in the strongest courage and fearlessness

If anyone is permitted to behold Thonorun, then he often sees him standing, or moving, upon a glowing circle of light out of which sparks continually fly

The discharges issuing from the working of Thonorun, like unto rays, penetrate everything wherein the invisible magnetism of the forces fights its way through to the material projections

His principle works in many manifestations which earthly science too acknowledges as physical laws in magnetic tension and in electricity

He, however, works quite otherwise than earthly science recognises

His work penetrates always from within outwards, and in the working of the opposite poles the starting point of support for him is the passive part, which he seeks out

Thonorun himself then leads his power in the active flaring up of the spark, and thereby there arises the space for the radiating forth of his mighty volition

The whirling hammer, known in the pictorial representations of many men, is a mighty vortex in which Thonorun absorbs from the heights the power which he then sends forth with a single stroke to the given place

In Thonorun himself there is a gathering place of forces, which are then directed towards the goals that the finger of Odin marks out for him as those places needing either the replenishing of a new refreshment, or as places out of which the accumulated unhealthy vibration is to be driven asunder

This applies precisely also to the gathering places of thought forms, which are first shattered by the stroke of the power of Thonorun and thereafter cleansed to the end by the element of ozone arising as a consequence of the work of Thonorun

Therefore we may often find in nature a greater refreshment and an inward freedom after the ending of a violent storm, for many unlovely forms of thoughts are scattered and removed by the work of the arms of Thonorun and of his hammer

The volition in which he fulfils his service leads Thonorun to thousands of places in one and the same moment throughout the whole universe

It is precisely the principle of the service above matter, in which Thonorun continually swings, that enables his highly animistic nature to appear at the same time in every place where this is needful

Whether here or there, men in countless places upon Earth may always behold Thonorun in his mature, or elsewhere in his youthful form, which he bears through the ray of his working

In his hand he holds either a shining, royally appearing staff crowned with rays, or the aforesaid hammer sparkling with power, which carries over his volition into an effective working

The dark red mantle streaming far out behind him, interwoven with golden threads, lets at every moment the greater and the lesser servants working in the fire step forth

Like a sower he continually renews the presence of the energy which, like unto invisible sparks, immerses itself into matter whenever the conditions suited thereto present themselves

They are his children, and they fill space in a glowing kind of vibration out of which there are then born, with the co-operating volition of Sirius, the salamanders of the fire

Thonorun himself has many servants at hand who fulfil his volition in like manner, yet in the storm he works through his principle always alone, for the fall of his hammer upon the anvil of the rolling clouds is ever a reminder of the might and the power which were lent to him by Mercury through Odin for the glorious service of Parzival

To Thonorun also there now comes a new refreshment in his service enduring through millions of years

In the renewed inflow of power from the beneficent nearness of his Lord he now rises to a service such as has never been here upon Earth

In thousands of manifestations he fulfils his service, in which there resounds the thundering roll that warns the human spirit upon Earth against the conceit and the self-complacency in which earthly man now finds himself

Stroke upon stroke there now sounds the echo of his sparkling hammer, with which in all places the mighty Thonorun intervenes in the world of men

“On thy knees, down and hearken, creature”, that is the resounding of the heightened working now approaching of Thonorun and of his servants in the glorifying roar which welcomes the nearness of the Holy King and Administrator of Creation, Parzival

Faithfulness to Parzival and to the Will of God, in which He comes, Thonorun will manifest through phenomena which will be hitherto unprecedented in the customs of the earthly world

They will be singular phenomena, of which a peculiar opalescent glow, appearing in the storms in many places upon Earth, will belong only to the first, the finer ones that are to come

Many of the others will bring heavy consequences in many places of the earthly world, for under the dominion of Thonorun there belong the formers of storms of every kind, the administrators of the air and many other servants

Let us bear in mind that here upon Earth also, everywhere around us, there are faithful servants of the Creator, who continually weave and transform His Will into the living happening of the present

Let us work together with them, let us hearken to their counsels, and much that now, owing to human self-centredness, stands upon the verge of war with their world will become a peaceful accord and harmony

It is high time to recognise the exalted servants in the animistic kind of working, that man may be permitted to stand firm in the happening now approaching upon Earth

The new stage of human life upon Earth also, which lies before us, will walk inseparably in union with the glorious servants of God, working in the Laws of Nature, in the Laws of the work of Creation

It will be a blessed time of the working of man upon Earth
