The German Spirit and Spiritual Maturity For the New Age

THE WAY OF THE GRAIL – SUPPLEMENTARY TEXTS – October 10, 2022

Now it is finally necessary to speak of the heavy burden which lies upon everything that men have hitherto created here on earth in their thoughts around the living gift that lies in the knowledge brought from the Grail

The following words are not given in order to create an impression of insufficiency in individual people who strive for ascent with the work of the Grail Message, nor in order that from them a condemning satisfaction should be formed towards those communities which throughout the world have brought the happenings around the work of the Grail Message to where everything now stands

It is given objectively as a picture for clarification

Also as a strengthening for the seeking of new ways

Men and the whole world need today above all a kindly strengthening for the gathering of new forces for the service of the Light

Although the originator of all the hardships will here be more fully unveiled, this is not to be merely for the settling of accounts with him, but for the seeking and the finding of new ways for a right life on earth

Let us now look about the world everywhere where the bright radiance of the Truth is to be found

And indeed, in many places on earth the Truth has already been permitted graciously to come into the hands of men

Let us therefore also look at how this blessed bestowal of the Truth germinates in these human hands, grows, how it ripens and brings fruit

Only a little alertness and we shall quickly behold the actual state as it is – the Truth, through the handling on the part of men, for the most part merely withers and crumbles into dust

Whether in various places it is better or perhaps a little better, it is always, in view of the coming happenings, the result of the use of only a tiny particle out of the great whole of the Holy Divine gift of all the blessings and helps which are granted for this time through the Message brought from the Grail

Not even a thousandth part of this Holy knowledge of the Truth has hitherto been drawn upon by mankind

This is a sign that the predominance of the old intellectual manner of life over the desired new life, which is filled with spiritual alacrity and with connection to the Light, still endures

In this serious time so many a one still struggles in the old manner of life instead of standing already with certainty wholly upon the new foundation of his existence

It appears that very much is lost in a wrong struggle which is in reality entirely needless, for it still takes place on ground hostile to the spirit, that is, on the ground of the intellect

But it is needless to despair, for much can be changed even at the last moment

Even the heaviest stumbling can be transformed into a new, courageous walking forward, enlivened by the spirit

For him who really wishes to awaken within, it is important to receive the knowledge of the Truth with the inner capacity of his spirit

Inner comprehension is that condition for what the pictures described hereafter are also rightly to evoke, so that new ways may be formed, helps may be rightly found and everything may unfold henceforth only in the direction of ascent

Let it be received as a living influx for the awakening of the inner courage of the spirit with all that belongs to it, that is, for the enlivening of the inner connection with all the planes above the materiality here

This connection can be created only through a fully unfolded inner life of intuitive perception

Against this, however, it is precisely the intellect which is here that lasting and greatest obstacle that sets itself crudely in the way of everything more intuitive in enmity

It is literally a wall which causes a greater intuitive perceiving in man to be impervious to his daily conduct

For the new direction of development on earth the condition of an intuitively living movement of man applies, whereas, alas, in almost all the undertakings of men there still rules the ponderous coarseness of the intellect together with an ever more strongly honed cunning

But if this direction is still set, which despite all the equipment of the spirit in the knowledge of the Truth presses for the constant use of materially intellectual procedures in life, then that gaping abyss which yawns between the earthly world of men and the other parts of the work of Creation will never be bridged for men

Let us therefore, for a right clarification, observe a picture flowing from the heights of the spiritual spheres

From the blissful heights there now incline down into the materialities threads which mediate helps and inspirations to the human spirit for the fulfilment of his task for the new age

These threads have a way formed right to the earth precisely through the channels which were broken open and cut through the materialities by the envoy of the Grail, Parzival, Himself

With the gleaming sword of the all-embracing knowledge of Divine origin in the hand of Parzival a way was hewn through the thornbush and the confusions, the upward-leading steps appointed for the return of the human spirit to the spiritual home were cleansed of the ballast of wrong human thoughts about God, about the Holy Grail, about Jesus the Son of God, about the Judge of God, about Imanuel, also about the abode of the High animistic servants in Valhalla, about the development of all life in the work of Creation and about much else that is contained in the knowledge of the Truth brought from the Primordially Eternal Castle of the Grail right here, to these distant places of gross materiality

And through this space, newly opened for the helps of the Light, there now descend in a great stream the threads for which the way was thus again cleared by God's envoy from the steps of the Grail

How blissful and blessed are these threads, which are filled with everything that earthly mankind so urgently needs for rousing itself anew for a new and right life on earth

The all-embracing nature of the gifts, overflowing with refreshment for those thirsting after the Truth, and also

the all-wisdom acquainted with all the degrees of maturity of human spirits contains helps for

every man, no matter on what level he is

If he begins to seek the true meaning of his existence, an outstretched hand of help is always prepared for him

The inexhaustibility of all inspirations vibrates in these threads inclining to the earth from the Light-filled parts of the Primordial eternal Creation

A sounding of a gracious, helping kind will set trembling the inner being of him who opens himself to them, even if only for a moment, with the intuitive perception of the spirit

What an unutterable blessing lies in it for everyone

It cannot be sufficiently described in words how much Life and Light, overflowing with happiness, is contained in it for the entirety of the work of the Subsequent Creation

These threads are all-embracingly bestowing upon every pure human striving for the uplifting and the ennobling of life, and thereby they bring within them everything needful for the building up of the development on earth willed by the Creator

In their content there is the sparkling pure full value of the true life, such as is hitherto desperately lacking here

And in the fact that this full value is lacking lies precisely that pitfall of the spiritual enlivening on earth that still fails to come about

There is lacking the inwardly flaring volition of the flame of the spirit for a connection with these threads inclining from the Light

The precious luminous threads for the most part remain hanging above the earth in emptiness and without the so much desired connection, because they cannot find the needed living homogeneity in earthmen

The luminous threads require, by the Law of Homogeneity, a spiritual mobility which would make a life-giving connection possible

The helps which bring a way out for all the pains of mankind thus remain hanging downwards without the necessary grasping, and their blessing therefore cannot flow right to the earth itself, with all the life upon it

It thus fails to come about solely and only because the threads do not find accord with a fully glowing striving of human spirits to become new in their rebirth of an intuitive exaltation above everything material, and thus also above the lasting dominion of the intellect

Thus very often even an inwardly prepared spirit, already in part become luminous through its experiences, still does not have within it, in a lasting intuitive readiness, the surging strength of inner vitality for this, that it, the spirit, should really rule over the intellect, which is at last to become again merely a rightly working helper, that is, a humbly working instrument carrying out various activities in the earthly world

Only here and there does some thread connect for a moment, so that its content may bring a flood of inner happiness and an unprecedented fulfilment in exaltation for him who has opened himself to its content for a while in a trembling homogeneity

But it is only little, very little

It is like a feeble trickle, constantly struggling not to dry up, in contrast to how it should already be led by spiritual men as a new, all-flooding victorious stream of luminous life to this earth

Hitherto the living intuitive perception of the spirit does not assert itself sufficiently for it to be said that the knowledge of the Grail Message lives among men and thereby helps to create, in the ethereal and in part already in the visible earthly realm, the so eagerly awaited new world

But it is already very necessary that the manner hitherto should end as a closed chapter which has become the past, with all the experiences of what the intellect, pride and vanity have brought the human spirit in his painful experiencing

The burden which already presses so very many a man and causes him to experience heavy contradictions within is at last to be laid aside, so that the spirit may assert itself outwardly in full strength through its inner joy and its longing for a true and pure fulfilment in God's Work of Creation

Only thus will everything that is now prepared for him in the Light as helps for ascent and for building up be able to flow to the mature inner being and also to the equally mature earthly exterior of man

There is lacking here a clear spiritual predominance over everything material in the inner disposition of thought of man

A predominance which in many people is precisely closely bound up with the Lord's earlier designation of "the German spirit", that is, of that spirit which by its inner victorious strength holds within itself a direct connection upwards into the luminous heights reaching to the gates of the spiritual Paradise

Pure and bright should have been this connection, which would enable a lasting influx of Light into the inner being of earthman, so that he might become a being of living intuitive perception in the constant engagement of his daily strength for a conscious life in materiality

A sense of honour, devotion to the noblest values of humanity, all this should long since have become the mark of the spiritual exaltation of man

"The German spirit", as the prototype of a mature human age, should already in the time of Parzival's earthly sojourn have become the model for a living humanity on earth

But it did not come about so, and this concept even gradually became a curse

It had to be fulfilled thus in accordance with the Laws, for if there was no walking upwards, then under the pressure of the Light working with intensified force upon the effects of the Laws of Creation it had to go all the more swiftly downwards

And this came about without, however, being observed by the people with the Grail Message in their hands

The knowledge was for the most part bound up only with an intellectual comprehension and with the influence of thought formed out of it upon everything in the life of man

Thus into the proximity of the knowledge of the Truth there quickly penetrated, through human thinking, all the evil that the intellect brings

But this came about solely because in this matter the important foundation of intuitive perception in man was skipped over and pushed aside

Without the needed intuitive kindling of the inner being, this direct enemy of the Truth, the Antichrist, working in the intellect, remained unrecognised by the people who have the knowledge of the Truth and was thereby grossly underestimated

Because men thus skipped over the so important emphasis of the Grail Message upon the primary enlivening of intuitive perceiving, it came about that the concept of the German spirit became, instead of a model of a living man penetrated by the Light and standing fully in material working, merely a wretched example of everything ponderous and rigid, subjugating himself and other people by an emphasis upon dull obedience alone

Everything living was pushed aside as unsuited to that convulsive ponderousness of intellectual thinking, which can never grasp and acknowledge the intuitive perception

And precisely these manifestations, as well as a host of others far more menacing for the path of the spirit, often including arrogance and vanity on the one hand and fawning cunning on the other, arise only from a crudely intellectual reception of the knowledge of the Message from the Grail

The proof of this state is the apprehension of the people who have in their hands the work of the Grail Message towards any living, free action springing from the fervour of the intuitive perception which at first glance has no clear support in quotations of sentences and paragraphs

There can be no greater proof of the dominion of the intellect around the concept of "the German spirit" than that people holding in their hands the work of the Living Truth, which speaks first of all precisely to the intuitive perceiving of the spirit, are apprehensive of any manifestation that comes from spiritual vitality

And this is that heavy bar painfully crushing the pure and guileless spiritual motives of many who seek the way to live on earth according to the Work of the Message from the Grail

Subconsciously that "German spirit" is still regarded as the model for all the new humanity, yet already at its beginning it became merely another form of the hereditary curse of human intellectualism

The Grail Message is brought for the spirit and only thereafter for a gradual intellectual comprehension, which, however, despite its greatest efforts, will never attain a true understanding of the Divine knowledge of the Truth

The intellect will never grasp the Divine, and therefore it will also never fully understand what the Will of God, the Love of God and the Purity of God are

It will always merely remain standing before it in a limited incapacity to understand something so living

The concept of "the German spirit" thus became, instead of an impulse to a joyful soaring of the spirit and to the ascent of the world of thought, merely a further obstacle to the development of a genuine mature human spirituality glowing through with the life of intuitive perception

Instead of a fervent experiencing with the inner being, there was formed here a form of conceited intellectual knowledge which, by its severance from life, became the direct opposite of the intuitive perception, that is, callousness

No one among men, in the supposed possession of the knowledge of the Truth, realised that this callousness, associated only with a wrongly understood severity and with the nature of the so-called "strong German spirit" that exalts itself above the insufficiency of its fellow-men, is actually merely another form of the rigid intellectual activity of the brain, which indeed strives for the fulfilment of perfection, but only in its clumsy manner, in which everything finer and more ennobled that makes the human spirit a living being of Light had to be lost

Thus from the concept of "the German spirit" that pure childlikeness, which is for the human spirit the necessary condition for a pure growth towards the luminous parts of the work of Creation, was quickly uprooted by the continuing work of the intellect of the people who strive to apply the Grail Message in life

The striving for earnestness, the sense of order and the observance of duties remained, but the life itself quickly faded from them, and above all the will to a gracious and kindly understanding of the insufficiency of others

Wholly disinherited became that openness to any inner compassion with the pain of other people, and thereby also the capacity for that so important spiritual willingness to forgive one's fellow-men

The intuitive trembling of the inner being, however, is that most important capacity for the progress of the spirit in the recognition of the Will of God and the Love of God in the work of Creation

There remained here only the intellectual pride in the supposed possession of the knowledge of the Message from the Grail, and almost nothing remained of what should make a spirit enlightened by this knowledge truly living and mature

The exceptions occurring here and there are in this the confirmation of the rule of the majority

But precisely these exceptions are often considered dangerous and not seldom are marked by the majority succumbing to the intellect as black sheep worthy of persecution

The result is then the complete ousting of such people and their being marked as gone astray and standing against the Light

What a wretched confirmation of the presence of that principle of the Antichrist in the intellect this often is

And all this began very early

It came about shortly after the Grail Message had spread among men over the earth

Thereby a heavy tragedy had to unfold which has already accompanied several generations of people who know the knowledge of the Message from the Grail, but who through intellectualism have within them a permanently lowered bar against everything that comes from the intuitive perception

Thereby, however, there is lacking not only the joy of life, but also the important bridging for a real drawing near to many seeking people

Hence that clash which lies in the present-day fulfilling of the concept "the German spirit" designated by Parzival and the real living experiencing of the spiritual consciousness of a mature spirit penetrated by the Light

The sense of inner discipline and order was to remain for all those who felt themselves strengthened thereby, but outwardly all this was to be glowed through with a pure capacity for compassion and graciousness towards everything that appears weaker and still temporarily insufficient to stand by the measure of the highest requirement of mature spiritual perfection according to the Message from the Grail

Why will men not comprehend that herein there is again concealed a masterly move of the darkness, which lays the demand for perfection upon the outer world without bearing within itself first of all a fervent kindliness and understanding for what is perhaps still behind on its level of maturity

Therefore there is here so much contempt for others who appear insufficient to him who supposes himself to be further on

For everything a condemnation is at hand, that it is karma and above all an insufficiency of the movement of the spirit, if millions of people are not acquainted with the Grail Message and do not acknowledge the Divine nature of Him who mediated it

In general it holds that if someone does not have the knowledge of the Message from the Grail, he is by these holders of the Truth, in their fulfilment of the so much desired harsh "German spirit", despised and condemned in advance

This, however, can arise only there where, together with a wrong attitude towards the knowledge, pride and a vain self-assessment of one's own greatness have settled

How sadly there hang above such a man the threads which would otherwise at once bestow upon him precious helps and inspirations, if he were able to detach himself from his critical view, capable only of condemning the rest of the world

Something of the kind should never have belonged to a spirit that longs to attain the level for which the designation "the German spirit" was used here on earth

In reality it is only a temporary concept for what is otherwise every fully mature spirit, wherever it may be in the earthly world

A mature spirit means that such a spirit is ready in its full embracing of all the degrees of maturity of men on earth, and above all that, in its inner holding of a childlike pure joy, it is able to be vividly kindly and also forgiving towards all who, even with their shortcomings and weaknesses, struggle to maintain their spiritual value in everyday life

With the outlook of faithful fulfilment towards the Light and towards God it stands so vividly in lovingness and inner comprehension towards all the happenings of life that it is able to distinguish even the smallest gradations of the manifestations of maturity from the faults and shortcomings which man retains in himself out of the nature of indolence and lukewarmness

Such a capacity, however, requires the highest degree of vitality and above all the lasting presence of man's intuitive perceiving

If, therefore, the concept of "the German spirit" is really to fulfil those highest values of the spiritual kind, then it holds that it is the intuitive perception first of all which determines the relation towards the outer world

And this is something that demands inner mobility in the highest degree

That mobility which is whole spheres removed from a convulsive clinging to merely intellectual outward forms without an inner understanding of one's fellow-men

It may therefore be said that the form for the concept "the German spirit", hitherto filled by men with the lifelessness of the intellect, is past, and that this concept is now to be newly replaced by the designation "a mature spirit"

The mature spirit of the new age needs to have within itself a wholly pure ground of an untroubled capacity to share with its fellow-men in the experiencing of their degree of maturity and to be ready to help

Something of the kind is possible only through an intuitive vibration within

This state of the living vibration of the inner being is to become the most vivid link in man

A mature spirit means first of all a spirit living in the intuitive perception

The liberation of this inner capacity within is the task of everyone who longs to become a mature spirit

It does not mean rapturous delusion, rootlessness, weakness or distracted flitting

But in this liberation there is a greater living assent of the spirit to wisdom and to its kindly application

The indicator of the present severance from the work of Creation of those who have the knowledge of the Message from the Grail lies in the closedness of all the animistic weaving towards all the manifestations of "the German spirit"

Where a living connection with the animistic servants, formed by enthusiasm, is lacking, there is a visible sign of the insufficiency of the human spirit in its higher glowing through

And here there is not meant that so alluring conversing with the animistic servants in the flowers or in the elements

As sufficient proof there surely holds a purely experienced full trust in the animistic working in all the moments of the day

This too everyone can test upon himself

Where the animistic is forgotten, in whatever happening around us, there is a clear proof of the distrust of the intellect towards something such as animistic help and co-operation with them, or there is here perhaps still a feeble and thereby insufficient flaming of the spirit in the utilising of the knowledge of all the weaving of the animistic servants in the work of Creation

Where human provision is given precedence there where trust should belong to the animistic servants and also to the spiritual helpers, and where action is taken in a wholly earthly, expedient way without a primary intuitive sensing, there the intellect stands first and has the dominion over the spirit

Here it is then not yet possible to speak of a wholly mature spirit connected with the Light for the new age on earth

This is not meant as a pointing to the shortcomings of those who are not yet able to do it, but it is meant as a gracious exhortation to a still greater inner movement of the spirit, so that it may then better hasten upwards

A mature spirit is for this time the condition for a complete connection with the threads flowing down from the heights of the spiritual Light above the materialities

In these threads there is contained the way out for ascent from absolutely all human paths and also from all the relationships among the people who are on this earth

With ease it is possible to free oneself from all wrongs and pains if the beatitudes of Jesus are applied in conjunction with the knowledge of all the connections, elucidated for human spirits in the work brought by Parzival as the Message of the Truth of God from the heights of the Grail

The Message of the Truth of God, thus is it to flame within everyone who occupies himself with the content of the words and sentences contained in it

This awareness that it is a communication of the Truth, however, requires first of all that vitality of a mature spirit

The vitality is to spring from the intuitive perception and through the intuitive perception to find the way for the weaving of the knowledge of the Truth into life

A joyful disposition in this is the right starting point, for the threads descending from the heights are filled with joyful helping and strengthening for all spirits

Whoever really longs to be connected with the Light and in this connection to walk rightly upon the earth needs first to awaken inwardly in his intuitive perceiving of everything that comes to him

As was already mentioned, it is not weakness, nor softness, nor a rootless rapturous yearning for an ideal world, but it is the true path to the maturity and wisdom of the human spirit, who aims at the ideal and yet at the same time fully experiences the condition of the other human spirits on this earth and seeks ways in which he can be of help in raising everything higher towards the Light

If his intuitive perception vibrates rightly, then helps and inspirations from the heights will certainly come to him through the luminous threads

It is enough only to learn, through an awakened intuitive perception, to perceive these threads rightly, and everything will at once set itself in motion towards what is better

In the end the Antichrist will be pushed aside as a no longer harmful reminder of the past, which will nevertheless continue to have its value as a lasting serious warning of how it is possible for mankind to walk wrong paths if it distances itself from the connection with the luminous parts of the work of Creation

Above this world there will arch continually the golden radiance of shining threads as the fulfilment of the blessing of God

This radiance will also be a testimony of the living connection formed between a great part of the mature spirits incarnated on this earth and the highest place in Creation, with the Holy Grail
