A lofty kind of radiation is drawing near to the Earth, which will bring the setting of a final boundary beyond which conscious evil can no longer come forth to make itself felt on Earth as it has done hitherto through whole millennia
Conscious evil is and always has been in some way bound up here in gross materiality with the intellect of men
Herein already lies the answer as to what on this Earth will be halted by the Light in its present course, so that harm may no longer be inflicted upon many people
Conscious evil
It is that kind of evil in men which is nothing accidental, which is no impulsive act, but which is a kind of volition always formed into distinct thoughts or even into visible deeds, the result of which is the disintegration of the whole harmony in the Subsequent Creation
In the sequence of how conscious evil arises in man we can first perceive that the original wellspring is as a rule a defect of the soul, a volition deviating from harmony which influences all that follows upon the original radiation of the spiritual spark
A defect of the soul – that is, what breaks forth as a nascent evil or distorted desire upon the plane of the soul in man – arises when either the radiation of the spiritual spark is so weak that it cannot irradiate the further coverings purely and clearly so as to form a protection against evil inclinations, or else we may also still find many people who indeed possess the capacity of clearer intuitive perception, yet who nevertheless, for the sake of some kind of self-gratification, voluntarily and in free will place themselves on the side that commits evil
Whether it be, for example, merely the self-centred volition to know everything better, or that purposefulness so often extolled by men in the endeavour to achieve at any price the assertion of self in some direction of action, the intellect is always co-operative in it here in gross materiality on Earth
These conditions need to be fulfilled before one may speak of the working of conscious evil on Earth
On the one hand the inward volition in man which deviates from harmony, and on the other the equipment of the earthly intellect's shrewdness, which lends everything a mantle of thought so that it becomes ingenuity in action, such as intrigues, slander, machinations, deceptions and the insidious destruction of the lives of fellow-men, while creating the outward impression that everything is really in order and that this is something right on Earth
Outwardly an often polished form issuing from the craftiness of the intellect, within, however, decay and poison
Of such people there is still a great number on Earth, because until now the Laws of Creation permitted it in such a way that the human will could express itself without the reciprocal action of the Law falling upon it at once and immediately
Hitherto there was here no such adjustment of the course of the Laws of Creation in which the harvest follows the sowing in a shortened course of development
Until now men were able to live in the sequence of the original ordering of development, in which the Grace of God laid a patient interval between the sowing and the harvest in human volition
This Grace of God laid into the Laws of Creation, in which after the sowing a certain time elapses before the harvest comes, was observed by shrewd intellectual men and came to be abused for many a revel of evil on Earth
Instead of a beneficial use of it to rouse themselves to pure volition before the evil originally sown returned, this time was abused all the more for the further doing of new conscious evil
In the end this led a great part of the people on Earth to the opinion that such a thing as the Justice of God does not intervene in human activity at all
In this, however, men allowed themselves to be greatly deceived, for it never was so
Only through the foolish supposition that evil has no reciprocal effect upon the life of men did many fall who would otherwise have paid more heed to their motives and their thoughts
Conscious evil among men thus grew to a dimension corresponding to the picture of the raising of the head of the Antichrist
Alas, this dragged many souls deep down, where they need never have plunged
Although there was always sufficient help from the Light around every human being, many succumbed to the influence of temptation and of evil to such a degree that they became entangled and, in their threads of fate and in the burden of evil, sank into the depths of those planes of the soul where nothing prevails but the omnipresent living-out of searing horror as the necessary consequence of all past volition
However incomprehensible this may be to every pure human spirit striving towards the Light, so it is
Conscious evil is therefore that kind of volition in man which has no scruple about causing harm or pain to his fellow-men, whether for the sake of fulfilling his own selfish wishes or for the sake of visible self-assertion with all the temporary privileges which, as he sees it, are contained therein for him
The ruthless assertion of self necessarily takes place at the expense of the remaining life which stands within the great harmony of the work of Creation
And it is precisely this that calls forth the vibrating movement of the threads of fate arisen out of such volition, which then return upon people who suspect nothing
It calls into life happenings which most people then regard as chance and as an injustice intruding into their existence
Conscious evil is the cause of the greater part of all the heavy karmic fates of men which must in some way return
With this it could be said that in the words set down above evil is named in its foundation, and that the reason for its presence among earthmen is also made clear
But there is yet another kind of action which in its result likewise brings about consequences that are perceived as evil, yet which holds a different position within the Laws of Creation
Beside conscious evil there arises that which at first glance disturbs the Harmony of the whole, but which springs from simple ignorance or from the immaturity of men
Thus we have here side by side conscious evil and also the evil consequences born of an immature, unknowing manner of life
Ignorance and immaturity have many degrees and forms in their visible manifestation
Thus in a certain direction we could connect a particular activity perceived by men as evil with the animal kingdom, for instance, where in the struggle of nature the victory of the stronger decides
Although outwardly it appears to human perception as very similar to what conscious evil brings, namely that the consequence is pain and suffering, there prevails in it a wholly fundamental difference
They are different conditions, which must always be rightly distinguished from one another, for otherwise confusion and obscurity arise in man
With right comprehension there is in everything only transparency and clarity
In all this it is necessary to hold fast to the one basic distinction which prevails in the arising of that which is generally designated as evil consequences
Even today the animal world is governed by a principle which at first glance calls forth evil manifestations in the eyes of men, especially when the creatures of nature destroy one another in their struggle for survival
The creatures of nature, however, act from urge and from instinct, that is, without the conscious volition to cause harm and pain to other creatures, and thus it is always possible to find therein a higher aim of the animistic kind, which is important for the maintenance of the great harmony in the world of nature
Since the world of nature is directly subject to the working of the animistic, we may say that all that happens in the world of nature is more or less straightforwardly connected with the great Harmony of the work of Creation
Out of such a thing there can never arise a radiation demanding expiation, as is the case with the deeds of men, who have a different path of development than the animals and the whole world of nature
The animistic, which is contained in the whole animal world, bears within itself a species that is exposed to other consequences of the Laws of Creation than is the case with men
The animistic, and in part also with men that which is in some direction immature or unknowing, does not call forth such effects in the threads of fate as is precisely the case with conscious evil
Men indeed know the saying that “ignorance commits no sin”
In a certain sense this is rightly observed from the working of the Laws of Creation
It is therefore a fundamental difference which one needs to learn to distinguish, if anyone wishes in the coming time to be a conscious helper of the Light on Earth
There are two kinds of outward manifestation which we may call evil and which in their expression have very much in common
Yet between these evil manifestations there is a great difference in what is woven into the threads of fate
The one evil is conscious, arising in a state of awareness of the consequences of all that issues from the volition to evil, while the other evil arises from the incapacity to perceive intuitively all that will come of a particular deed
Mankind has hitherto had great confusion in this, for the results of these two kinds of evil can outwardly resemble each other very closely in their expression
Seen from the Justice of God, however, there is a great difference between them
The weaving of the threads of fate, which are spun for every human being by the Vaenen and the Alphar, is always strictly governed by the original motives that accompany the particular kind of conscious or unconscious human volition
It may be said that wherever there is in man an inner warning that his volition is not right, and he stifles this warning within himself, thrusts it out of his inner being or adroitly denies it to himself in his thoughts, there the threads arisen therefrom are drawn through Creation, guided by the hands of the weavers, exactly to those places where the answer formed by the radiation of the Light to such conscious action causing anything evil is to be found
It is the place where the soil is to be found for the ethereal anchoring of that kind of radiation which every conscious evil of men, committed in defiance of the finer voice of conscience, carries within itself
Conscience is not only man's own inner voice of intuitive perception, but it is also the delicate calling of the beings who help him, the counsel of the spiritual guides upon the path of his development
Therefore the frequent exclamation which we know in the words “I am at peace with my conscience”, or also “my conscience is clear”, does not hold good
This does not hold good if within there sounded even a single faint whisper bidding man once more to perceive intuitively that which he is thinking or that which he intends to do
If there is even a particle of doubt, and this is finally pushed aside, then we may already say that it is a conscious deed
If then this deed brings something evil to one of his fellow-men, threads of fate necessarily arise which lead onward into the ethereal planes of homogeneous kind
The soil there forms the ground for one or for further recurring vibrations, out of which there gradually arises a strongly attracting anchorage for the ethereal soul of man
From there also, in the grace-filled working of the Laws of God, there may from time to time return to the man who still dwells in an earthly body the opportunity to experience upon himself how wrong it is to cause pain or harm to the other inhabitants of the work of Creation
This men then call the returning of something past, fate or karma
For the most part they see in it a punishment for themselves and often consider themselves the victims of the incalculability of a fate forced upon them
In reality, however, it is always solely and only the grace of the Laws of God, for therein always lies the opportunity to lay aside through experiencing something of one's earlier inclinations to evil volition
But alas, most people pay no heed to such a thing and then take every experiencing of their difficulties as a reason for still greater effort to resist it, which is precisely nothing but a further way of an even greater conscious desire to bring something evil into this world
It is precisely to this kind of conscious volition to evil that an obstacle to completion will now be set through the intensified pressure of the Law of Reciprocal Action
The reciprocal effects of the weavers' threads will come to such a man even before he begins to devise his own plans in his thoughts or brings them to realisation
Thereby all conscious evil among men will gradually be driven out from this Earth
Beside this, however, the evil arising out of ignorance may still work here for a certain time, for upon this a different kind of pressure holds sway in the gearwork of the Laws of Creation
Thus for some time yet, when conscious evil will already have been halted in its continuation, something evil may still come into being, if the conditions for it present themselves and in unwitting ignorance one of the people makes mistakes or in some experience fails to master his inward stirrings
Yet this evil too will gradually vanish from the Earth, for it will be pushed onward by way of enlightenment
Enlightenment brings a higher awareness, and those who become more conscious in the knowledge of the connections can then no longer say that they did not know something
Enlightenment makes everyone more conscious in the knowledge of the effects of the Laws of God in Creation
And therefore it is precisely enlightenment, kindly spread among men so that they may ever perceive in it the refreshing and strengthening Truth, which is the way for the evil that arises out of ignorance and out of immaturity in the thinking and acting of men to diminish ever more, until it disappears almost entirely from all life on Earth
It is therefore a very important happening that effort be exerted by those people who already have a portion of enlightenment within them, so that enlightenment may go further through all layers and classes of men in all nations and lands
Enlightenment is the starting point for the drawing near of a harmonious life of men on Earth
With every single small step in which a man fervently passes on the outlook into the effects of the Laws of Creation, the Light of the Ray of Parzival can now stream with quickened speed among mankind
Thus, for example, through the readers reading the words set down above about the working of conscious evil, this knowledge immediately becomes for them a shift in their consciousness, so that they can no longer say that they did not know that they must always subject every willed thought and deed of theirs to strong intuitive perception, in order to be certain that their conscience had not warned them beforehand of some mistaken decision
Conscious evil is delivered up to the effects of the reciprocal impact in all the threads of fate of men
This will also become visibly manifest, for it will bring wholly unexpected happenings in human society
Beside this, however, goes enlightenment, which can bring great help wherever the outward consequences of evil still unfold that arise out of the ignorance and immaturity of whole hosts of human spirits incarnated at this time on Earth
This can work for the ascent of the Earth as a great contributing force of the growing pure and joyful enthusiasm for the discovery of a healthy life unfolding in the vibrations of the blessing of God
The gaining of maturity is a natural part of the human spirit which has not yet fallen wholly asleep within itself
And even the spirit that has slept until now can be awakened by the joyful call of the Truth
If in the striving of the people who possess knowledge their own pure striving for the Light is contained, then the Ray of Parzival will now always go close beside them in a certain degree, to smooth their way
That is the new thing which will show itself as a blessing wherever the knowledge of the Truth has begun to shine within the inner being of the human spirit
And thereby the near time of the end of all evil on Earth will at last be appointed
This end must come, for so does the presence of Parzival require it, which stands at the uttermost point of his Ray
Where men think and act in the longing to be in connection with the Ray of Parzival, there much help will now come to them for their striving towards luminous and noble aims
Everywhere else, however, that same Ray of Parzival will bring about an impact to which men have never yet been accustomed
Therefore everyone should strive with his pure volition that his outlook in the knowledge of the meaning of life may be ever more filled with the enlightenment which comes to him out of the Truth
United with fervour and with the earnestness of the volition always and in everything to act purely and honourably, this will bring to man wonders of which he knew nothing, but which only waited for his courageous movement forward
In the end a higher degree of awareness will penetrate even into the animal kingdom itself, and this will make possible many changes which will show themselves in a higher degree of co-operation between men and animals, something that today appears impossible
Enlightenment, however, is all-embracing and will in the end reach into all parts of life on this Earth as a strengthening towards development
Thereby this life will draw nearer to the fulfilment of the words that speak of the coming of the Kingdom of God on Earth
It will, however, be entirely different from what men have hitherto imagined
It will be freed from all religion as we know it today, and also from all the dogmas which in the course of the flowing millennia have crept into the human manner of thinking
In reality everything will be simple and clear
There will be no coverings such as today still make possible the deceiving of trusting people in matters pertaining to the knowledge of God
Between the individual man and his Creator there will be no forcibly interposed intermediate stages upon which unknowing men work who themselves know nothing and only create room for the arising of further new evil among individual human spirits
Most of what holds good today and what is used for the guidance and instruction of fellow-men still stands upon the soil of the intellect and of all that is connected with it
In its own way it is thus but a lasting strengthening of that which belongs to evil
The opposite of this is the pure longing to help, which heeds the independence of fellow-men and supports every human being in unfolding the abilities laid within his spiritual spark
Only thus can the hitherto disastrous direction of mankind be turned
The aim of the life of men should therefore become the independent recognition of all that reaches into the path of the human spirit and thus helpfully brings him ever more inner and outer strength for the experiencing of the conscious volition to good
Thereby the empty places will be filled ever more swiftly with new knowledge
It will bring unexpectedly much blessing, and there where life has hitherto flowed sluggishly, marked by much evil, a new life will be permitted to blossom, overflowing with joyful accord with the beneficent Harmony of God
