In the world of thoughts there is a seething and a wailing, similar to that which is wont to be in the earthly element of air in the hours when the coming of storm-clouds in their full power is to be expected
Those who supposed that the Furies and Harpies have already all of them been released are now to make themselves ready, for only now will there roll forth the greatest host of these creatures of thought and of intuitive perception, of malice and of hatred
What has hitherto in the present time been held to be a great working of the thought-forms and intuitive forms of fear, malice and hatred was in reality only the first vanguard of the true raging
Only now will come the releasing of the greatest part of the savage forms, which through whole centuries and thousands of years have fed upon human spiritual power whenever men raised their malice in the squares of the cities, in the temples of fanatical religions, or upon the war-fronts of the nations, when hatred and vengefulness seized them in the red mantle which revolution and revolt wear
Hareiars too wears this mantle, because he is the one who always brings the strengthening of the manifestations of changes and upheavals into all happenings
With him therefore comes the shifting of things, with him draw near transformations of a small and of a great kind
Hareiars, however, never joins to his work baseness, evil and hatred, but in his manifestations he always works as a pressure or a blow falling unswervingly upon the unhealthy place
He is like an intensifier bringing a vehement development against any unhealthy setting, no matter what matter it may concern
Yet in this he remains for ever above the worlds into which he only works with his spear, and therefore he is not bound up in his being with that which takes place, he does not succumb to it and remains free from it
His working against all that is unhealthy and overripe is purely executive according to the laws of the Will of God, and not upon the ground of his own offence and bitterness
No man is able to work in this manner, for men can never encompass these forces, but these mighty happenings always engulf them through their own personal faults and weaknesses
Thus it is always and only men who add to the principle of struggle, out of themselves, that baseness upon which the swarms of the creatures of the Furies then feed, like croaking ravens and vultures circling about men who all too willingly succumb to their weaknesses and basenesses in the volition to cause pain and suffering to others, whom they regard as their enemies
Hareiars, however, has no enemies, for in his task he works purifyingly and thereby preserves a distance and a certain peacefulness in that which he brings and causes
Already in ancient times men observed his principle of struggle, but instead of the creative co-operation which is the condition for ascent in the humanly spiritual species and which demands the overcoming and the struggle within themselves for betterment, they spread the manner of working of Hareiars upon impulses bearing within themselves ungood and impure foundations
Thereby they debased the sublime principle of progress which Hareiars in his implacability alone ever brings, and with their impure discontent in thoughts they formed a hotbed out of which there were born and are born only formations of hatred, of evil and of suffering
Thus there arose in the history of mankind upon this earth revolts, rebellions and uprisings, out of which in the end there came forth only bloodshed and suffering of every kind, out of which there was born new hatred and new revolt
Thus it has flowed around the earth already for thousands of years
Out of the originally pure principle, which bears within itself the summons to progress above all in the struggle with one's own shortcomings and weaknesses, men made an outward fight against others, and thereby they wove for themselves and for their fellow-men a way bearing all the marks of the dark principle of temptation
And therefore, as the returning result of the said fallen volition of men, there is now here a cloud of the Furies and Harpies which in this time of the culmination of all happenings must live itself out above mankind
It will be something that will seize whole multitudes
Without men being aware of it, there will gradually emerge in them aggressiveness and the desire to attack others, whereby the ground for it will be even quite small causes, over which under other conditions they would have waved their hand with a smile and gone on
Now, however, it will be like an electric current which flashes through the mind of man and makes of him a creature aggressive towards others, for any trifle whatsoever
Evil will swell up and break forth outwardly through wounding words and also through the endeavour to humiliate and to abase, in the striving to attain that which gives strength to the Furies, the attaining of dominion over others
All this the storm bears within itself, the storm which draws near, and already its roaring and its thundering can be heard in the planes of thought around the earth
He who longs to free himself wholly from it must now have his inner being closed to any thoughts of discontent, to reproaches and to unjust demands towards other men
The inner being must be firmly closed to the said disintegrating influences, and at the same time, in order that there may be in it sufficient power to withstand the outward pressure, it needs to be filled manifold with inner joy, with a trustful happiness towards the help of God, which is born only in the purely attuned inner being of a spiritually mature man
Thus it will be a true struggle for the purity and the peace of the inner being in every single man
From without it will shake, as when the shutters and the door of a small log cabin withstand the onslaughts of the winter gale
So that the cabin may not grow cold in the raging whirlwind and lose its life-giving power, every man will need to maintain within himself a supremely strong and bright flame in the hearth of his spirit
And such a flame can be maintained only when in the inner being, as the antechamber of all intuitive perceiving and thinking in man, there stands the altar of the Light, illumined unceasingly by pure, ardent prayer to God
The storm which is announced by the Alphar and the Vaenen, who weave the threads for all men and who now also form everything exactly as it is to be around man, this storm will not last only a short while, but will be here a certain longer time, so that it may spend itself in itself and at the same time may through its power bring the sifting of those who withstand and of those who in weakness do not endure and collapse
Like a protecting hand, however, there inclines itself over every spirit awakened by the Word of Truth the helping radiance from the Grail
He who stands firm in all this will receive for all the further time upon earth a thousandfold power for his spirit
His flame will then shine outward from the inner being and will send light into the dark winter storm, as a saving gleam of hope for other men
But be on your guard, O man, for the shutters and the door of your inner being have many holes and crevices which until now you have not mended, in the supposition that there is time enough for it
In the folly of the supposition that in the end it will surely not be such as was announced decades ago upon the Holy Mountain, but that it will somehow develop of itself in a peculiar leniency towards earthly men, you have missed and neglected much in yourself
Now there does not remain overmuch time to mend and to change all this, for the supposition that it will somehow develop of itself has wholly crippled the liveliness of your spirit, and thus much finds itself in a state of inability and of unwillingness to change it
Often whole pieces of the protecting walls are decayed and rotted through, so that they will be gravely shaken already at the first impact of the fierce blowing of the stormy gale
Also the fire in the hearth burns only feebly and uncertainly, for it was not nourished with the oil of an inner independent conviction, but it was always relied upon that someone from without would care for light and warmth, someone who would appear knowing in the matter, who would intercede for the poor weak earthmen and thereby shield them from hardships
Gone is the independence and the inner power in man, which alone is able now to mend all this and to kindle anew the fire in the hearth
It appears that the greatest part of men will now be shaken and perhaps even broken immediately after all this begins
Or perhaps there is here a hope which lets it be recognised that the inner being of men is awakening and is willing to fight for itself with all its power
Oh that it might be so, that it might succeed and that the power of the inner rallying in men who are knowing might rise to an unprecedented stirring, which is always the promise of victory
Who else is now to withstand the storms than those who hold in their hands the Truth, the sacred Grail Message, which contains all that is needful for the rescue and the ascent of individuals and of the whole of mankind
Therefore up to the work, so that that which can yet be brought to life may overnight grow strong and become the true armour which will withstand the coming storms
In that which is let loose there is not even a particle of leniency and of mildness
It is the thought-extract of evil in all the forms which were created and animated by men themselves from the times of the thousand-year existence of the ancient peoples upon earth until now
Many of the forms of the Furies have grown so strong and so mighty that they are truly unconquerable, one can hardly withstand them if man would face them of himself alone
Therefore it is so greatly needful to have within one's inner being the union with the Light
The Light brings help and strengthening everywhere where there burns in the inner being the pure and bright radiance of the flame of the enlivened spirit
Where there is the inner effort always to hold within oneself peace and harmony, there the Light can now, under the command of the Grail, bring a multiplied power which will give strength to withstand the outward assaults of the darkness and at the same time will make it possible that in every such clash the darkness is weakened, in that it will not be able to take hold and thereby will not be able to draw the new power for life which it needs
With every bright, pure and simple thought filled with trust in the victory of the Light the called servant of the Grail can then weaken and disintegrate the unprecedentedly mighty winged monsters of the darkness
It is a true struggle, for which it is needful to bear within oneself the highest pure trust in the nearness of the Love of God and of the protection working around man
The storm brings a hard period among men, when precisely in the world of thoughts and of intuitive perception the strongest battles will take place
All this, however, is only a natural happening, bringing the adjustment and at the same time the cleansing for the becoming luminous of the spheres around this small earth
No one will be able to stand aside, for it is the very nature of the existence of the Furies to attack everywhere where they see their prey
And prey for the raging Furies is in the end everything spiritual which in its submission can grant them its share of spiritual power for life
Submission means the sounding together with the vibrations of something disintegrating, inharmonious, impure, even were this to have outwardly only the seemingly innocent form of indignation, or even merely of wondering at the deeds of other men
All this is a ground for the unexpected attaching of the Furies to man, so that thereafter in a single moment they may lash him into an unconscious acting of wrath and of hatred, which perhaps he himself would never have wished to awaken within himself
The power of the Furies, however, in its preponderance will compel him to it, for they were permitted to penetrate to man through one of the crevices
The inner being of man was not trained for defence, and in his folly he himself made it possible, through his attunement, to let one of the talons of a Fury into his inner being
Thereby evil can then at the very last moment take root in him and drag him down, however much he may think of himself that his thinking and his intuitive perceiving have surely hitherto always been respectable, fulfilling the social rules of the time
If, however, it did not bear within itself a pure willingness and a noble relation to others, to their deeds and strivings, as the foundation in the looking upon them, then this is one of the crevices which can show itself to be a fateful weakness
Let no one therefore look upon others, judge not their deeds, nor even condemn them themselves, for your power is to be directed upon all the places within you where the way to harmony can be formed
And of such places there are always enough, it is only needful to seek and to find them rightly
At last the disintegrating principle of corroding criticism, of caustic mockery and of attacking other men must be changed
The coming happenings will show that those who often attack others are in their own inner being in reality spiritual weaklings
Their manner of acting has no support in the work of Creation and thereby has no value which could lead their manner of thinking and of acting to reward and also to protection from the Light
And this even when men therewith profess with their words the high conception of the name of God
This everyone needs now to make his own who wishes to stand firm, who longs that from the Light he may be looked upon as a builder of the harmonious upbuilding, of that upbuilding which alone will in the near time have the support and the strengthening of the wise Laws of Creation
All else will perish with the disintegration of the distorted past
Whither man wishes to direct himself rests therefore only with himself
He decides whether the protecting radiation from the Grail will flow to him, bringing strengthening and support for his doing, or whether he will let the raging storm break into his dwelling, that it may disintegrate it and scatter it into irreparable ruins destined for destruction
Now it draws near, and it will demand the straining of all powers
He who thinks that he is perhaps exempted from it and will stand aside as one protected will be struck as one of the first, for the Furies will quickly observe his unwakefulness and his unpreparedness
He, however, who stands in wakefulness and in pure prayer and prepares himself for the coming time by learning to bear within himself unceasingly harmony and the peace of the recognition of the Light, he will be protected at the right time
The Grail sends forth its knights for the protection of those who prove through their striving that their inner being is pure, filled with the right light of the spirit, which is to be preserved in the near time
His radiant spiritual spark will be permitted to be held in the work of Creation for eternity
