Only very few people today can say that they know what the next day will bring them

And only the truly presumptuous among men venture in the present time to foretell more exactly what will come within the span of weeks or of months

They are presumptuous because they never do more than guess at their predictions

At the beginning of every year many people try to estimate what this new year will bring them, whether in health, in money, in success or in the feeling of contentment

In estimating the future, however, they always draw their conclusions only on the basis of experiences out of what is present and what has been lived through in the past

Ever since its beginnings on Earth mankind, in planning the future, assumes that what proceeds from its expectation, which is built upon its experiences and at the same time also upon its wishes, will be fulfilled

It is then for the most part only a dim groping after that which will really come

Yet for many this suffices to form for themselves the supposed conviction that they more or less know what will present itself to them

Reality is for the most part entirely different, bringing wholly other challenges and new strengthenings, or also grave demands for which men are then not prepared at all

Thus out of the expectations of men the foolishness of their unknowing juts forth on every side

With the mankind of today all this is yet further heightened and intensified by the fact that it is proud of its knowledge and of its skills

Present-day mankind supposes that it knows very much about the world, indeed that it knows the most, but in reality it knows the least of all the ages upon this Earth

It knows nothing of the real happening, which always begins upon the finer plane that lies beyond the boundary of their earthly sight

Because men are not open to this plane of perceiving, since for thousands of years their faculty for such perceiving has been closing itself, they for the greatest part cannot know today what is drawing near to them out of these finer planes today or tomorrow, to become their present experiencing

So much the more is everything that a whole year brings a matter of unknowing

No one knows what exactly will come and whence there will arrive the further happening that is thereafter to bring the experiencing of the present for the individual and for the world as a whole

All this concerns also the very year that is now beginning to unroll with its first days

If, however, someone were nevertheless to come today and, out of the nature of his ability to see something in advance, were to say what the approaching future is like, if he were to describe all that this future contains within it in delicate archetypes and what it brings, then men would take him for a prophet depicting tidings unacceptable to them, and they would seek to silence him or to declare him an ill-wishing grumbler

Alas, such striving of men has not, and never has had, the effect they would wish – that is, the turning aside of the course of things, which in the wise order of the Laws of Creation is prepared through the weaving of the threads of the incorruptible Vaenen

Great events are drawing near to this Earth, whose reach and depth men will grasp only in looking back, when they have lived through it all and behold therein that luminous spiritual help for those who are still inwardly living and open to the Justice of God

This, however, will hold good only for those who rightly recognise and experience it

For all the others there is contained in it much that is heavy, bringing only blow upon blow, so that thereby all that is animistic and spiritually pure upon Earth may be freed from the burden that the darkness has cast upon this Earth

This year bears within it a powerful experiencing for everyone, and at its end everyone will regard this year as the real beginning of the cleansing work of the Light upon Earth

The days of the new year will at the same time also bring the beginning of the visible victory of the Light over the working of the intellect, which through its work only separates the spirit more and more from its real task of free activity within the Laws of God

But because the intellect, and through it the men working in many places upon this Earth, are heavily entrenched, all this will advance only hand in hand with the collapse of many existing arrangements of human society

Under the pressure of the Light, however, that will suddenly fall in ruins which no one today would expect

Great countries that even now appear secure and unshakable will tremble and within a moment will end in the dust of the past

In everything the hands of the incorruptible Vaenen will work effectively, and under their guidance, in the strengthening of the Ray of the Light, the Alphar will bring the fulfilment of many events with acceleration to the fruits of all that has been sown

Into this there will manifest themselves the fulfilling threads of the animistic elements, so that in their work too there may gradually come a return from the present distorted state to the original harmonious archetype of pure nature

Some parts of the continents will end in the sea

This struggle, however, will go above all through all the connections of men with one another, and it will always be a test of whether the spiritual intuitive perception stands firm, or whether the cold intellect manifests itself as the obstacle to pure humanity marked out by the Light

Thus almost daily will everyone be exposed to this judging of himself upon the happening he lives through, and it will rest with him alone how he stands firm in the single moments

Whether he gains for himself the prospect of a further being in the glorious work of Creation, or whether he decides for the path that will bring him to an inner fall and thereby also to descent and to rejection

Mankind will be divided into two parts, of which the one will have with it the refreshing blessing of the Light, while the other will remain in the weakening curse of the darkness being dissolved

To stand firm and to be on the side of the Light, that is now the greatest challenge for everyone

It will be easy for no one, because the intellect is stronger than the spirit in almost every single human being

And the happening that follows from this will not be simple, indeed it will be very hard to pass through it all, for to stand firm in it is conditioned upon the complete victory of the intuitive perceiving of the spirit over the hereditary sin of the intellect

For this it is now needful to strain all the forces within the inner being of man

Therefore much is kept hidden by the Light and is not to be shown beforehand, for it would become for the most part only an object of distracting fear and of confusion

For in men the most important thing of all is not rightly set, that which is the one force able to free the spirit with the coming of the future

That fundamental, most important force by which they can influence the future has not until now been rightly grasped, the future which can always be changed for the better, even when in the pictures beforehand it bears heavy prophecies of what is to come

This most important force for everything is that which has long been forgotten – the purest experiencing of the present in the spiritual receptivity for the harmony of the work of Creation

The living through of the moment of the present in the strongest spiritual fulfilling of the harmonious flowing of the happening is still the great weakness of many, indeed one may say it is the weakness of all men upon Earth

To live through a whole day purely, joyfully, creatively and united in spirit with the light, without letting oneself be drawn into unpleasantness, into ill humour and into the intellectual misuse of the power of the spirit for one's own small wishes, that is something which is still only a distant ideal for every human being

And alas, even those who know the Grail Message, who therefore hold the Truth in their hands, are no great exceptions in this

Too much ill humour, which brings a turning aside from the joyful path of the spirit, belongs to the greater part of the day of those who know

To walk through the day and to hold in the spirit a joyful, creative and at the same time sacred attunement in reverence towards God is something that slips from the hands of almost every one of men

And yet it is precisely this which alone determines the future that will come to man

The possibility of changing the future for the better rests in the living through of a strong and pure volition in the moment of the present time

Here there is nothing that should lead man to wait for other outward conditions which might perhaps be better for his attunement to this experiencing

For a long time to come the outward conditions will not be better than they are this very day, at this very hour

It may even be said that with every further day, week and month these outward conditions will for a long time become only heavier and more exacting, for there will fall in ruins things that still stand now and in part uphold the framework which forms the basic setting for a worthy human life here upon Earth

This, however, will change as the pressure of the Light grows yet stronger and the animistic servants work within this pressure as the fulfilling outward forms of the returning threads of the Vaenen

Everything will also grow swifter as the present structure of the earthly world of men falls apart

It will then be too late for man to turn round and say to himself: “Why did I not make more use of that time, when everything was more easily to be mastered, when it was all so much easier?”

Every further day will be only more exacting for that attunement which today it is still possible to attain easily, if only man would pay a little more heed to it

If he more often bore within him the attunement of joy and of harmonious union with the forces streaming through the work of Creation, then he would break through that crust which surrounds him, and would breathe in the joyful wafting of the Light

Thereby it would grow brighter within him and around him, and in his pure weaving of intuitive perceptions and of thoughts he would at once open the opportunity for the changing of his future towards a better and more blessed prospect

And not for himself alone, but for others as well

The purity and the joy of the spirit within man give him the ability to help others to a better future of their own, for the world is governed according to those who are the strongest in spirit upon Earth

And the strongest are those who live the Truth purely and simply with their lives

In their full living through of the present they determine the greatest part of what comes to men upon Earth, and how it comes

They should therefore be exalted shapers of the threads of helping kindliness, and at the same time they should take heed to the purest spiritual striving, so that out of it there may be born a way for the liberation of millions of other men, who out of themselves cannot attain in this even a fraction of what may be done by those who know, who know the Truth and the Laws of Creation which contain this Truth within them

To know the Truth means for man the opportunity of drawing nearer to the recognition of the Will of God in Creation

This makes him an exceedingly strong servant for the Light, and thereby he is in the end also a very strong helper for this whole earthly world

He can help to influence the future for the better, if he so wills and if he has within him sufficient will of his spirit for it

Upon him it rests along which ways the development of the working of the Light will go in its victorious march over the lands

But here there is a grave contradiction, which renders many of those who were permitted to recognise the Truth more crippled than they themselves are aware

On the one hand these men wish to be at one with the Light and to sound in harmony with its streams of helping blessing, but on the other hand they often come forward as hard judges of all the fellow-men around them, upon whom they wish the heaviest blows of the judging Light to be fulfilled

With this setting of their thoughts they must strike against an impassable boundary, which at the same time causes for them the crippling of the blessing intended for themselves

They overstep their boundary as human spirits and reach out for something that belongs to the Justice of God alone

In one and the same moment of the present they wish to bear within them the longing for the Light and for kindly graciousness towards themselves and towards those whom they count as nearest to them, and at the same time they wish a heavy judgment upon millions of other men whom they do not exactly know, but whom they already regard beforehand as forfeited to the darkness

What sort of future is to be woven out of such an attunement, when it holds good that the Light in its manner always only creates and builds, and that the human spirit is in its attunement to be at one with this Light

The Light contains within it inseparably both Love and Justice

For the work of the human spirit there is appointed above all that part of the radiation of Love from which he is to draw and with which he is to be united, that he may be able to fulfil his task of development

It is needful to remark that in this Love also there is contained a part of Justice, which is inseparable from the true Love of God and thus bears within it all that is needed for consistent and strict dealing wherever this is rightly in place

The human spirit needs to receive that radiation in which the Love of God predominates, in whose manner he is to learn to approach the rest of life in Creation

Beside this Love there stands Justice, which at the same time also has within it a part of the Love of God

This Justice, however, in its full radiation is not appointed for the human spirit, but is appointed for all that vibrates solely in the Will of God, that is, for the fulfilling and executing animistic ones

Justice, in its unpostponable and unyieldingly fulfilling effect, is inseparably needful for the work of Creation and bears within it blessing, for it brings adjustment and thereby also movement forward in all the development of life

In this respect we may say that Justice too works in a loving manner, and that only the darkness, standing in opposition to all that is luminous, creates the conditions for the intervention of this Justice in a crushing and dissolving way

In human activity, however, the content of man's view upon the world around him is to be the radiation of the Love of God, for in it he is permitted to grow, and in union with it he draws that part of the radiation which as a spiritual kind he needs for his task

He is to learn to work in the principle contained in the radiation of the Love of God, that he may be able rightly to recognise the effectiveness of the Justice of God for himself and for others

In the attunement, the volition and the thinking of man the two cannot both be contained in full strength, because the human spirit is unable to encompass both in such a way as to hold the highest justice and kindliness in balance at the same time

He is therefore always to incline for his own part towards the Love of God in his relation to other men and to the whole world, and the Justice of God he is to let work of itself

In the case of the Justice of God he is always to surrender himself and others to the higher fulfilling Will to which this mighty and wise Justice belongs

He cannot unite the vibrations of his volition as is possible only to the Will of God and to Parzival, who works unceasingly within this Will

The human spirit is not capable of this, and therefore the justice perceived by him at its highest will bear within it, in ninety-nine cases out of a hundred, injustice in the judging of others

Whoever supposes that this is not his own case may be almost certain that he acts in just this way

Parzival alone, and the servants in Creation commissioned by him and also wholly subordinate to him, can, while preserving the highest Justice and at the same time Love, pronounce judgment upon this or that manifestation of human conduct in such a way that there is contained in it the complete adjustment of the perfect Wisdom of God, that is, of Love and of Justice in the best balance

No other creature or being in Creation can do the same, for no one bears within him the perfect balance of Justice and of Love that is to be found solely in the Divine unsubstantiate radiation of God the Father and of His Sons

Only the Divine radiation is judging in the highest just effect that returns back to man, to mankind and to all that is subject to the Laws of Creation

Attempts at the same in human rendering must end in a pitiful caricature, and moreover they at once weave heavy threads of his own fate for that man who sets himself into a working similar to the Divine Will without having for it the least ability from the Light

There is also contained in it a part of blasphemy, and thereby that returning reciprocal radiation is sharpened which hastens towards such a man as strives to be a judge to other men and pronounces verdicts upon the outcome of their rejection or non-rejection in the work of Creation

The capacities of the human spirit never give him such power over others, for in his case Justice and Love can never be evenly fulfilled therein, since these come only out of the all-embracing and all-surveying Wisdom of God

The human spirit stands in Creation as a kind that at best always encompasses only a certain part of the knowledge of all connections in the unfolding of the highest brightness of the flame of his spirit

In this limited knowledge there is always manifested the fact that he is only a subsequently developed creature in the work of Creation, which in its compass and its articulation wholly surpasses him, and he needs only to accept this as a reality that sets him in the right place

This stepping into the place that belongs to man changes nothing thereby in his right to a blissful and happy being in this Creation

The human spirit will never be the one who gives the spiritual spark to other creatures for their arising, nor will he ever know the great connection of those finest threads working in the fates of creatures in such a way that he could judge them in their being and their non-being

He is permitted, however, to be present at all this and to rejoice in it

In his beautiful and important work for the Light there is allotted to him an activity that shares in the radiation of Love, in which he is to help others and in which he himself may also best unfold and thus form his own happy fate, which is good whenever man walks upon ways in accord with the Will of God

And the true knowledge of the human spirit, who strives unceasingly to absorb the Will of God into his life, leads him naturally to the unfolding of an ever more conscious helping activity towards all his fellow-men

He then knows ever more surely the fact that the fulfilling of Justice takes place in the form of the higher co-operation of the animistic helpers

He is therefore always to be attuned to helping, and at the same time to hold to the highest striving that it may be a real help in the spiritual sense of true Love and that it may lead and inspire those around him to the recognition of the Will of God

Therein there is already contained the working of forces which can then, in a weaving invisible to earthly eyes, lead around such a man to the sharpening and the strengthening of the reciprocal effects of Justice in his surroundings, without his having to be in it, for his own part, one who judges and punishes harshly

His attunement leads to the fulfilment of the judgment in the strengthening of the threads of the Vaenen of itself and simply, through effects that may appear as the miraculous working of the Will of God in his nearness

He himself stands thereby always, with all his activity, in the attitude of the helping kind of the radiation of Love

In him there need be present no judging volition and thinking that would strive to pronounce a verdict upon other men

On the contrary, his freedom and his spiritual greatness themselves then make possible the working of this higher power of the Divine kind, without his having any share in it through a wish of his own for some result of a judgment upon another man

This attunement then releases for his spirit all the power for the great uniting with the Light, just as this befits the human spirit in Creation

In pure and inwardly free, exalted volition he works onward with his gaze fixed upon the high goal, and his spirit bears within it an abiding confidence in the perfection of the fulfilling effect of the Love of God and of the Justice of God over all the dwellers in the work of Creation

This consciousness gives him upward swing and freedom, for he then has no cause to form thoughts of his own for the judging of others, imagining what ought to happen to them and how the Justice of God ought to be fulfilled upon them in consequence of the way they perhaps act

Let him bear within himself always only the will to a good striving, and he can then be wholly pervaded by the important force in the moment of the present, for his spirit thereby fulfils the task of the human spiritual kind in Creation

That is truly the high meaning of the task of the human spirit, over which he so often broods and out of which he also often wishes to tear himself higher than belongs to him, in the belief that he will thereby gain greater esteem in Creation and before God

The human spirit is a child of Creation and will never be within it a strong determiner or a ruler in the sense in which the primordially spiritual servants work at the very summit of the work of Creation

For they too in their kind are again only serving and fulfilling that Will which inclines towards them from the heights of the Divine Light – from the halls of the Grail, from Parzival, who in turn fulfils the Will of his Father

Yet that childlikeness is still wrongly understood by men, for grown men often see in it an inferiority and a certain weakness

That, however, is only a failure to recognise the true nature of the concept of childlikeness and of the childlike in the work of Creation in relation to the spiritual origin of man

Childlike means indeed: “He who, trusting in the wisdom of the Divine guidance, stands unceasingly and joyfully open to the resolve purely to live through and to fulfil his task”

And the task of the human spiritual is immeasurably great

It is so great that men have in reality not recognised even a tenth of its whole glorious compass

With the attainment of human spiritual full value, which he may gain for himself through his ripening into the whole, wise radiance of the spiritual flame within him, there opens before him at once an unsurveyable and inexhaustible field for helping in all the parts that lie around him and above all beneath him

In his great, fulfilling and joyful service he may work in the most worthy kind of his personality and in full vibration in the service of God, in that he helps all that is weaker and more vulnerable and raises itself towards the Light

To this weaker and more vulnerable he may be a model, a helper and a shining light for the way of its development

Besides this there is always prepared out of the Light for the human spirit, in his spiritual home, something that anew, in its glory and its greatness, confirms him in this, that the Creator thinks of him in an abiding and never to be exhausted Loving-Kindness

This experiencing then leads him to a yet stronger living through of the moment of the present, which, however, is possible only in that attunement which has already been described above

A strong spirit is able to live through the moment of the present fully already here upon Earth, for he knows the effects of the Laws and knows that his pure service in the joyful attunement of the day is the way that leads all things to a glorious goal
