Demanding its living out, there presses in its constriction upon the earth a thought form which took shape during thousands of years out of men who experienced hard times of earthly life

Their experiencing often formed itself into bitterness and rancour, for the life they experienced was in various stages touched in some way by the ungood acting of other men

This forming of bitter experiencing should long ago have been laid aside in the development of mankind, yet it still remains in the world of thought and, to the harm of many, still influences weak and lukewarm men, for among other things it has become for many men an alluring excuse for their own insufficiency of striving in life

This thought form of bitterness is also used as a foundation for a certain kind of demanding and laying claim to better conditions of life

Although today, in the greatest part of the nations on earth, the hard and cruel conditions of ancient times no longer hold, wherein some deprived others of freedom and enslaved them, yet there remains here this baleful thought form, which bears within itself bitterness and repugnance towards other men who perhaps live in the present time outwardly in better conditions of life

And precisely this thought form of bitterness working in the destinies of men has now drawn near to the earth again, in order that in the culmination of all the events on earth, under the pressure of the Light, it may at last live itself out to the very last particle

It will be here and will leave no one in peace who opens himself but for a moment to its corroding influence

It will spread in order to engulf everyone who bears within himself a homogeneous attunement

It will be here until everything in it has lived itself out and it passes away at last, because on earth there will no longer be anyone who would feed it further with his grudging, evil thoughts towards other men

It can be lived out and laid aside solely through a great inward forgiveness

This thought form of bitter repugnance towards fate, out of which there is again born only hatred among men, is like a cauldron which ever threatens to burst if beneath it there blazes up greatly the flame of the supposition that for the ungood state of life of some, others are to blame who are better off

At the same time it bears within itself the soil for the birth of the imaginings of raving visionaries, who ever strove to find an ordering of the earthly conditions of life without including thereby in their visioning the most important thing – the differing ripeness of the spiritual nature of men, and above all the wisdom of the Will of God, which through the Laws of Creation orders the ways of human spirits in their development

Thus all that was ever experienced in the history of this earthly mankind under the pressure of this thought form is for the greatest part accompanied by the wrong, harmful conclusions of men

Out of these wrong things there arose and still arise the deceptive ideas of how the world should look according to human imaginings

And out of these wrong suppositions, under the pressure of the Furies, there then shapes itself the opinion of the multitudes, which is wont to stand very far indeed from the real comprehension of the connections

It is never to be called into doubt that in past lives many men experienced hardships from others

The sad history of mankind confirms that in the dulling of their intuitive perception men ever for a great part created upon earth conditions in which many then had to suffer

Out of these past experiencings there were woven by the just Laws further ways for the souls returning again and again to the earth

It may calmly be said that all men who are again living upon earth today have already in some way shared in the shaping of the conditions for their fellow men

No one is in this merely a victim, but everyone in his repeated lives could already in some way intervene in the life of other men, and that from a position of a certain power and influence, though it might be such a part wherein they decided in some office or social standing, whether it was a matter of a kingdom, a state, a city, a village, or even only a tribe of natives

Often a strong influence upon the conditions in a family sufficed for this fulfilment of the threads

The kind of influence is not the decisive thing, but that which arose out of this influence of a man in the experiencing of those who were touched by his influence

The threads of the reciprocal working ever arose with certainty

Men who now come into the earthly world are therefore born not by chance into the conditions which were made ready for them in the carpet of threads, and which express exactly by which ways their first entry into earthly life, and perhaps even whole portions of it, will unfold

Today there are also upon this earth very many men who themselves, in the ethereal worlds before incarnation, besought such conditions that in this earthly life they might find promptings for their swiftest possible spiritual awakening, and also that they might have as many opportunities as possible in their experiencing to lay aside their former faults and at the same time, in the right recognition of the meaning of their existence, to ripen spiritually more swiftly towards wisdom

Alas, the greater part of these petitioners has now not the least inkling of it, and they hold the conditions into which they were born to be unjust, and through their bitterness they are bound with the thought form which leads them away from the right recognition of their path

The laying aside of former faults surely demands a life in which there are rather conditions that expect of man industry and effort, and not idleness

Men are born into conditions created directly for them by the Just Laws of Creation, only they know nothing of it, or they inwardly divine it and yet will not accept it

In the conditions into which men are born there is ever contained the highest Justice

Be they conditions of financial poverty, conditions of strained relations, conditions in which the earthly body even bears within itself the predisposition to sicknesses and to other hardships, all this is the outcome of the fulfilment of the supremely Just weaving of the Laws of God

Where a man is born upon the earth, what body he bears, what circumstances are ordered for him, all these are conditions which were prepared for him in the highest degree wisely and justly by the Laws of Creation, upon the ground of his former experiencing

These Laws work wholly of themselves and suffer no deviation from the Justice which recognises exactly what the state of the inner being of a man is and what his threads of fate are

Out of this recognition there are woven by the Laws of Creation the conditions which ever bear within themselves the opportunity of ascent for every one of men

Out of these conditions everyone may, with the right striving, free himself in an honourable manner, may step higher, if with his spirit he rightly recognises the ways which offer themselves to him for atonement, and makes use therein of the helping principle of the helping Love of God

Every man may rise upwards, no matter upon what step of faculties and of ripeness he stands, yet there is here a great condition – he may rise only if he himself wills it

That is the weighty thing which is weighed in the scales of human destiny – whether man longs purely and honourably to stride upwards out of the conditions into which he was born

According to this attitude men are also now judged from the Light, and precisely according to this volition they will be sifted into those who will one day be able to be raised to the spiritual home, and those who will have to remain aside forever

For everyone the way still stands open even now

The way is graciously furnished with countless helps which accompany man and give him the most precious thing, which is to be held as the treasure above all treasures – the experiencing of the spirit

This experiencing alone makes it possible to recognise the working of the great Laws of Creation, and thereby it brings wisdom which holds within itself the power of victory over all the hardships of the earthly world

The Son of God Jesus spoke to his companions of that time, who as sons of Israel were held in the grip of Roman rule, that for their bitterness and defiance, out of which thoughts of revolt grew, there is one help alone, namely the way of inward liberation, the way of inner mobility in the acceptance of their own responsibility

Only out of such an attitude can there then come forth, in union with the ways of the wise help of God, the liberation from the outward grip of the usurper

Men who look upon everything around them only from a superficial, earthly point of view will, however, plainly never be able to raise themselves above their imaginings of the necessity of an earthly ordering of the world according to the notion that it is precisely other men who are lastingly to blame for their own state of existence

Unhappy are such men

They expect that the course of the Laws of the universe will allow their imaginings and wishes to be realised

There must already be in this a great measure of the violent dulling of the inner being, that many still expect the earthly world to attain harmony and peace by being guided according to the imaginings of a human volition severed from these Laws which work in their perfection in the whole world of nature and in the universe

He who supposes that he has a claim to something more than that which he attained through his pure and honest striving stands against these Laws and in the near time will be dashed to pieces upon them

He also who supposes that he will be the determiner of the ways for others in the direction of opposition to these Laws will now be dashed to pieces upon these Laws

Millions of men will be dashed to pieces upon these Laws, which work and take effect ever in the same manner, calmly, unshakeably, incorruptibly, as the real, wise help bestowed by God upon the human spirit in Creation

Men will be dashed to pieces upon the said Laws, alas, also often only because they never willed to reflect that perhaps greater hardships and insufficiency now visit their earthly home only because they themselves once earlier gave cause for it through their acting, when it was made possible for them to work upon other men and they did not use this possibility for good acting and for helping, but on the contrary often humiliated others and denied them their dignity

That they are not now aware of it changes nothing therein, and their repugnance and defiance towards the existing conditions in which they live only weighs the more heavily upon them and takes from the possibility of ascent upwards to liberation

The thought form will weave about them again and again with further bitterness of injustice, until they free themselves wholly in the awakening of the spirit, or until they decide, under the influence of the Furies, upon the carrying out of evil deeds

In this kind of working of the Light there will thus at last also come about the complete living out of the said thought form, which now under the pressure of the luminous radiation of the Ray of Parzival quickens and strengthens itself, in order to engulf all the spiritually comfortable and weak spirits

Men have no inkling that their present earthly path is but one part of the great circling through which the human spirit must pass if he wills to grow strong in the gaining of experiences upon the way through the Subsequent Creation

They have no inkling that they themselves are the determiners of the shaping of what social conditions then await them when they must from time to time return to the earth for the sake of their progress of spiritual ripening

It is laughable and at the same time unspeakably sad that precisely now we may often observe how souls which in earlier times brought about ungood things now, in other bodies, take offence and grow indignant over their own tyranny of earlier incarnations, offering, however, not even a part of forgiveness to themselves, and thereby giving testimony of themselves that in reality they have not moved forward even by a little

What do many men expect is yet to come, when they themselves testify that their inner being sleeps, grown faint into a paralysing rigidity which offers not even a small outlook of movement

Let us leave such men to rage foolishly over their supposed injustice of the world, for the real recognition of the connections testifies at every moment to the glorious working of the great Justice of God, which takes effect down to the smallest trifles in the life of man

The consciousness of the working of this Justice brings joy

Not, perhaps, joy over satisfaction towards others, but joy in the perfection of the Will of God, which ever, to the very last part, brings to the spirit exactly that which he needs for his development upon his ways through the materialities, that he may one day be permitted to reach his true spiritual home in the Light

He who opposes this Justice, who seeks rebelliously to defy it, is only to be pitied, and gives testimony of himself that he is, alas, only an unripe human spirit

The Circles of the Peaceful are to be those who now are to prove to other men, by their joyful welcoming of the effects of Justice in their life, that from any place whatever it is possible to rise upwards, towards the Light

With courageous volition it is possible to lay aside every heavy chain of fate which perhaps for whole centuries held man back in his progress and ascent

At every moment man has solely and only in his own hands, in his own deciding, how he will act with other men

Through his attitude towards other men he holds in his hands his own threads of fate

It is he, therefore, who guides his destiny, wherein the outward manifestations of his acting confirm how rightly he inwardly recognises and receives the world around him

What can move forward in this world, towards the better, it is ever permitted him by the Laws of Creation to do

Never, however, is it to be at the cost of other men, nor in pressure upon them that they should change, for they alone, freely, are to recognise that which is right and which brings them inward fulfilment and blessing

There, where the barriers of the set thinking of other men cannot then be overcome, and out of these limiting barriers there arises perhaps a temporary loss or deprivation of freedom, there the power of forgiveness ever takes effect, which alone can bring spiritual progress and help for all

The Circles of the Peaceful may precisely in the oncoming time become exemplary in the right, conscious experiencing of the effects of the Justice of the Will of God

Their peacefulness and equanimity can help those men who still waver in trust in the just higher happening and who are exposed to the pressure of the growing thought form of bitterness and rancour towards their fellow men, who perhaps in some respect fare better

Peacefulness, equanimity, the inward consciousness of the Just working of the great Laws of Creation, and above all the capacity for forgiveness, that is the most important equipment for everyone who longs to pass freely and purely through the oncoming happening which draws near to the earth
