For many people there places itself into their life an obstacle which does not permit them fully to bring to bear the abilities which they carry within themselves

Although their spiritual innermost overflows with gifts which they had already unfolded earlier in past lives, and with which they could help others also today, it seems that now they have not the power fully to lead these gifts to a blessed working

Thus many a one carries within himself today a strange inner tension

The gifts in his innermost create an overpressure in that they demand to be used, yet their transference into a visible application in life seems to such a man to be unrealisable

Such an unhappy one wages outwardly a struggle unnoticed by others between the endeavour to bring to bear the abilities which call within him for use, while at the same time a kind of invisible bar holds everything within him like a blocking wall which does not permit expression

This obstacle, the blocking wall which holds back the great and glorious inner abilities in man, has its origin in the loss of childlikeness and of the openness of enthusiasm for the matter

Only childlikeness, and the pure joy and trust in the good development of things flowing out of it, makes possible the bringing to bear of the gifts and of the abilities of the innermost

This childlikeness is, however, lost today in the greater number of men

It is the consequence of a great wound caused by the darkness

The darkness brought into life ill experiences, returning to those who trustingly opened themselves and acted in their inner childlikeness and trustfulness towards their fellow men

As a reaction there came to them often only the misuse of the childlikeness and openness which they offered, by men who had become cunning in their intellect

Experiences of this kind penetrated deep into the innermost and caused to many inwardly pure people heavy wounds of the soul which they carry within themselves

As a consequence of this there spread among men mistrust and reserve

Thus by degrees it came, in the fear of further wounding, to a complete loss of the childlikeness of the spirit

Of that childlikeness which man greatly needs for his spiritual life if he wills to ascend towards the Light

The stifling of childlikeness causes in many men an arresting block in their openness and also in their self-confidence

And yet it is childlikeness which, precisely and solely through its freshness and its enthusiasm in the moment of the present, mediates to man the powers for the overcoming of obstacles

Therefore it is now called here to all men: Let this fear of the wounding of the innermost be at last set aside now, for man needs of necessity this enthusiasm of childlikeness for his spiritual ascent

Now this bond formed by the darkness is to be removed, that it may lead to the liberation of the many who have hitherto hesitated and feared to express themselves outwardly out of their innermost

The darkness has no longer any preponderance over the pure childlikeness and openness of the spirit

Now this will show itself swiftly in the reciprocal working as unswervingly and hardly striking everyone who would still will to wound the expression of the pure enthusiasm of his fellow men for the Light

Pure childlikeness is also inseparably joined, in this part of the Subsequent Creation, with the working of the animistic servants

Thus mankind, together with the loss of childlikeness, of necessity lost the connection with the animistic world

All in the world of today bears witness to the loss of the connection of men with the animistic world, for otherwise men would not carry within themselves an emptiness in the place where a living childlikeness should have pulsed in their bearing in the moment of the present in relation to men and to nature

The emptiness after the childlikeness which men once naturally had within themselves in time caused that not only did their spirit lose the connection with the luminous heights, but it lost also the important bridge which brings to it the streams of animistic powers out of the world of nature around us

This bridge remains today long neglected by men, and that although on the side of the animistic ones it stands ever made ready for use

The attuning to the animistic working, which here on earth is in part sunk into every man, is easily attainable, for it is a matter solely and only of the catching of the streams of creative joy which spread themselves in the animistic working everywhere around

It suffices for man only to catch within himself that harmony of inner joy and that flicker of enthusiasm at the fact that to take this or that step forward is in reality as easy as for a child

Also to do something helping, something creative for other men, or for the animistic world of nature,

is the key for the renewing of this neglected connection with the animistic powers

Everyone is joined through the coverings of the spirit with the animistic part of Creation, and thereby we carry within ourselves a part of the harmony with the working of the purely animistic kind

Childlike joyfulness is an inseparable part of our animistic covering, for this layer is woven out of the substance which is proper to the animistic working in the Subsequent Creation

Through this part man is joined with the high streams of the animistic working which gush into the distant universes out of Valhalla herself

The spiritual spark in man can thus at any time flame up with enthusiasm, in the harmonising connection which flows to it lastingly from this high animistic kind of working

Let us but look upon nature and upon the creative power of all the forces working within her

Nowhere is there a halting, everything forces its way forward to the unfolding of powers and of abilities, and that with a lightness which unexpectedly swiftly brings and carries through even the greatest changes

The strong currents of the watercourses drive themselves forward, the mighty gale wrestles with the obstacles which hinder it in its advance forward, and even so also the smallest, most tender creatures in nature hasten towards their fulfilment

The butterfly heeds not the shortness of its existence and flutters above the flowering meadow with an unwavering will to fulfil its task and thus to bring blessing to the elves who tend the blossoms of the plants

The young swallow, shortly after it flies out of the nest for the first time, already casts itself without hesitation headlong through the air after its companions, who hasten forward in a flock in preparation for the far journey

The down of the dandelion, floating in the currents of the air, seeks for itself in the play of the animistic ones of the air a place to settle, that it may thereafter undergo the great challenge of taking root

Let us but observe for a moment the full-valued expressions of the work of the animistic servants

In their lasting weaving they mediate the call to man that he too, in harmony with them, may be enkindled and at last let the wings of his own character, of his gifts and of his talents, be spread

In all creating there is, together with joy, at the same time also a proud full worth and a glory forming harmony, which ever refreshes and attunes to a blissful state the innermost of every beholder who swings in harmony

In harmony with these animistic servants man is again and again, every day, to set himself with joy to the work which he perceives as meaningful and as helping other men and beings

Helping also are the smallest things which are brought into deed and become a part of life wherein they bring blessing and strengthening to others

In this harmony with the animistic attunement everyone is to become a personality which grows ever more into the measure of his spiritual wisdom, of that wisdom which step by step lets man look into and experience the whole of the glorious work of Creation with its distant heights of the spiritual spheres

The connection of man with Creation needs to be living, experienced freely and in liberty

The human spirit is not to be here in the gross material world a stranger who looks upon the world around him severed from it, as though only through the glass of a showcase in a museum

Knowledge alone about the world and about the work of Creation, read out of books, is of no use to man if he does not use this knowledge in every moment of his life

Even the highest recognition will remain for him only a severed treasure locked in a heavy chest, where it cannot come to bear and unfold, if he himself does not stride forth with full openness towards life

Of what use then is such recognition of the highest connections in the knowledge of God, when at the same time man cannot rightly turn any of it to account in the present, for himself and for others

Filled with the erroneous supposition of his own greatness, many a one stands but rigidly upon the spot and is not able to bring anything of the recognition he has gained into a childlike joyful deed

He divines not that in such a rigid attunement the life thus lived becomes for him only squandered, and that he will not be able to render any other account of it than a dry mentoring and perhaps in addition thereto a pompous, critical looking down upon others, who struggle in life every day courageously even without the recognition which was permitted to come into his hands

Such a harvest, however, the Light does not ask of the creatures in Creation, on the contrary It will cast it away, for therein is contained only weakness, cowardice, corruption of the spiritual innermost

Joyful creating, which freely and in liberty advances forward, is that which is expected by the Light of human doing

In this direction men can, are to, and must learn from the animistic working, however much they may suppose themselves to stand already with their spiritual knowledge higher above it

The spirit which carries within himself true ripeness never loses joyfulness and the will to creative deed, and through this attunement he will also ever be in close connection with the animistic kind of working

He is by degrees to join to this childlike joyful foundation the higher knowledge and experience out of that which he has lived through, and thereby he can then rightly recognise the ways of bringing his ideas to bear in the reality of this world

He will then also ever look in the first place to this, that with his soaring and his volition to come to bear he may not harm other men, may not take from them their space, but on the contrary his perceiving will be set to this, that in every moment he may rightly observe what profits the whole

The truly ripe spirit ever creates for the whole and looks to seek harmony for all situations

He will also ever seek first in other men that which is better and endeavour to help this better thing to unfold itself

For such doing he can draw powers out of the animistic streaming which is everywhere around us and which is also a certain weaving of the high Will of God in the lives of men

Yes, precisely of that Will of God of which believing men so often speak, that they would will to swing in harmony with It

What more do they will, when they have all this everywhere around them, in every moment of the day

It suffices to seek this Will of God in the smallest things and with childlikeness joyfully to welcome It for oneself in the experiencing of the moment of the present

Whoever learns rightly to recognise the important need of harmony with the animistic vibrations, he learns by degrees to stride surely and brightly upon the way upwards, towards the Light

Such a man then strides upon the Way of the Grail, without perhaps having to be aware of it

He strides upon the Way of the Grail for this reason, because it mediates to him, across all the intermediate links of the great chain of helpers, the powers out of the highest places in Creation, out of the Grail

This again brings him only ever new influxes of powers for a courageous striding forward

Joy, freedom and courage to bring to bear all the precious gifts which man carries within himself, that is the attunement which now stands also above all the maxims and counsels of those who shield themselves with scientific titles and call themselves learned specialists in the human psyche and in human thinking

A single flicker of joy and of a childlike easy view of all around us loosens in man the blocking walls which cause inner heaviness and torment, which are not in place if he lets his pure and bright gifts awaken to their application

Let us but rightly give to ourselves and to other men the possibility purely to create and in this creating to find their worth, and all men will become happy and will themselves begin by degrees to strive after the higher values of human existence

This will come to pass because the gifts laid within the innermost will begin to unfold, and thereby the spiritual spark in man will of itself begin to flame more strongly

If then all keep purity and do not slide down into pride and supposed greatness in their works, then their spirit will ascend upwards of itself, for the spiritual spark will experience happiness, will bathe in the influx of the powers which bring joy

The gifts and abilities laid within the innermost are to be brought to life by man, no matter how slow their birth may be and though they unfold perhaps only step by step, pace by pace

And if anyone begins with something, there is also no need to fear the glances of others who perhaps hold themselves to be greater specialists in this or in that, for everyone once began and thus he himself also was first a beginner, an apprentice, before he became a master

At the same time the impulse moving man forward is ever to be the longing to attain the highest beauty and perfection in all that man does

Thereby all that is low and of lesser worth will at last fall away and will be replaced by real beauty and by blissful harmony

That is a law holding good in the world of the animistic, and even so it holds good also in the human world

Therefore but courageously to the work

It is better at the beginning to make mistakes and to learn from them than to let one's precious abilities lie fallow precisely in the fear of erring, or to lay the blame for one's inactivity upon outward conditions and upon other men

Let us but consider: the animistic powers formed the universes of the gross materialities in stages of development through whole milliards of years

Ever anew they re-formed matter and also the organisms already arisen, until at last the desired result of beauty and of harmony was attained

These powers created through all the time in joy and in enthusiasm for the great service which was laid upon them out of the Light

Even such a patient will and enthusiasm for the matter is to permeate every endeavour of man

Only thus can he hold for himself the connection with the animistic and also with the spiritual worlds, out of which there can then come to him helps and inspirations even of a miraculous kind

Upwards, forward, for there is here now the time which calls for the unfolding of all the abilities of the spirit with which every one of men is endowed, and wherein no one is shortened

A change of this world for the better can come to pass only through the awakening and the striding forward of every single human spirit who is now here upon the earth

No one is excepted therefrom, no one therein is to wait upon others, for his abilities are given to him alone, for his unique work, and to no one else

The key to the awakening of these abilities and to their unfolding lies in childlike joyful enthusiasm

In this attunement there then flows to man a multitude of living power out of the animistic weaving which is found everywhere around us

This stream of strengthening is inexhaustible

It is permitted to draw from it fully, in every moment of life

Joy and a childlike advancing forward, towards a full-valued pure experiencing of the present, opens the innermost of man to the influx of powers which will help him to overcome all that awaits him

Let therefore precisely those who will to belong to the Circles of the Peaceful now go forward therein, like visibly shining flames of hope for the whole of mankind

The animistic and also the spiritual servants of Creation will support them in the courage and the certainty which is needed for such a striding forth into a new existence
