Countless are the threads of wrongs and of hurt which stretch between men, crossing one another in the tangle of their courses

Their invisibility to earthly eyes creates a delusion which leads many men to suppose that they are free of these tenacious threads, which are stretched between all who have wronged one another, or who bear towards another a reproach grown out of some painful experience

However little is outwardly visible, in the more ethereal planes there stretch between men dense meshes of threads holding them to one another with an adhesion which resembles the most elastic and most clinging veils of a spider's web

These threads wind themselves about man, they are fastened upon him by little hooks which are deeply lodged in his soul garment

It is not easy to free oneself from these threads, for it demands a complete release from inner bitterness, a liberation from hostility towards this or that fellow-man

Wherever some name leads a person to flare up in anger, to a trembling of the voice, or only to the slightest surging of the blood, on the ground of the remembrance of something past which awakens a feeling of hurt or of offence, everywhere there it is possible to say that in such a place a thread is lodged which holds fast and thereby conducts between men something “living” which creates a tenacious clinging of the one to the other, or often of several men to one another

And it is precisely such clinging that is a hindrance to the true ascent of the spirit, for it is a sign of the failure to grasp the true state of the freedom and the nobility of the spirit

Now we find ourselves in a time when every such adhesion of threads becomes far more restraining in the advance upwards towards the Light

Yet the forward advance of the spirit is now of the greatest importance

Inward, complete forgiveness is therefore the condition for the true uplifting of the spirit of man

Yet how far is many a one from this inner liberation

Although he convinces himself that he is free, in reality he carries within himself a multitude of living threads of bitterness, of ill-will and of hurt

But he needs to free himself from this, to let his spirit rise on high in noble release, because only thus will the helps of the Light be able to dwell with him, only thus will he be permitted to await the grace of the Love of God, which prepares for him the way upwards to the spiritual home

But whoever carries within himself unforgiveness towards others cannot expect that the Laws of God will forgive him

To forgive all, unconditionally, is the condition for man now to be permitted to pass through all the happenings with the helps from the Light, which he urgently needs in order to stand firm in that which lies before him

Let forgiveness therefore be that with which he inwardly comes to terms as with the very first and most needful thing, so that he may be freed from the low thicket of the planes in which there hang today millions of those who call forgiveness a weakness and who regard those that love their enemies as madmen and fools

Oh, if men were but permitted for a moment to behold the reality of the ethereal happening in which they are entangled, bound to the point of suffocation, they would sink to their knees in horror and, trembling, would implore God for help and forgiveness

Gone would be their supposed self-assurance and their boasting of how strong they are within themselves and how exalted above the weakness of those who today concern themselves in earnest that they may harbour towards others no rancour and no implacability for painful injustice inflicted, which perhaps once came to pass between them

Forgiveness means to rise and to go and offer one's hand to one's fellow-man as the first, even though until now it may have been expected a thousand times that the first to do so should be the other

Forgiveness does not concern itself with who may be the more in the right, but it has for its goal the effacing of something which has arisen and still stands between men as a hindrance in the ascent of those concerned

Forgiveness washes the wounds of the past, it is the dawning of a new existence

Forgiveness is the foundation of true peace among men and thereby also the foundation of the new age, which will stand solely and unshakeably upon the pillars of the Laws of God

Forgiveness without claim to requital, or expectation of appreciation from others – such is the demand of the radiation of the Ray of Parzival

Inner reconciliation, the asking of pardon for the thoughts which man has carried within himself towards others, are the pioneering of the true power of the spirit

In defiance of all that is customary among men it shows a new approach to life

Perhaps some may still smile today and point to the visionary folly of such conduct

Yet before long they themselves will do the same, in haste to make up for what they have neglected

Every day of delay in this matter will grieve them, and they will rail at themselves as sleepers and sluggards

Thus even if the whole world should still laugh at a man today, he is to go and to do that to which his inner being leads him, in the awareness that he is laying aside the past and loosening the threads which have until now gripped his spirit, bringing about his unfreedom

Let men laugh at your doing

For that which you do is not for the outer world of men, but for the liberation of the spirit

Without hesitation man should rise and set right all that on his side is marked by unforgiveness towards other men

Only thus will he be able to draw near to the fulfilment of the words of Jesus and thereby bring his spirit to clarification in the radiation of the Ray of Parzival

Therein lies for him the ascent, and for other men a help lying in the exemplariness of his conduct

Blessing is bound up with him who acts thus, in order to free his spirit from the threads of the bitterness of unforgiveness towards others

Therein lies the key to the new age of the life of men on Earth

The true visionaries are those who expect that God will support other ways with His Laws

Parzival, by the nearness with which He advances towards this Earth, like a rampart of luminous clouds, will lead them out of this visionary folly and will show them clearly in what direction the way to a pure life leads

He will awaken them and will judge them

But by God's command He alone may judge, no one else

Men are to heed the Word of Truth and Jesus' Words, so that together with humility their intuitive perceiving may awaken within them, and their mutual helpfulness on the way to the Light
