The Breaking of All the Towers of Human Pride

On Earth there now work side by side, in a visible manifesting, the two greatest enemies of all the striving of men hitherto for a better world

They are the over-ripeness of the intellect and the immaturity of the spirit

Under the pressure of the Light out of the Ray of Parzival this baleful state of earthly mankind becomes every day ever more visible in its manifestations

Whoever has his inner perceiving purely open can see it ever more plainly

Everywhere it is possible to find these two enemies of the upbuilding of an earthly world full of peace

They are the result of the millennia-long working of the adversary against God

Of him who originally, at his beginning, was one who served his Creator faithfully

An emissary out of the planes of the eternal vibration of the Light, where the archangels dwell in the nearness of God, he endangered the course of the whole of Subsequent Creation by his own fall and by the introducing of a principle in which the lasting destruction of all that is weaker threatens

The bearer of light thus became a spreader of destruction, threatening everyone who wavers upon the path of his development

And the human spirit easily succumbed to his principle of temptation

Out of this principle there then arose the result which now prevails here entirely and shows itself in all its baleful consequences

We meet with it everywhere

Outside us, but also in our own approach to life

The rank growth of the intellect has already slipped quite out of the hands of the spirit and of his governing through intuitive perception

The continual groping among worthless trivialities, upon which the spirit here in gross matter continually strikes and which hold him permanently down, proves his desperate stranding upon a path which was nevertheless to lead, in its clarity and plainness, as an ascending line upwards towards maturity

Maturity and ennoblement, this was to have become the natural line of development for absolutely every man

The overgrowth of the intellect and spiritual immaturity are therefore the two greatest enemies of the fulfilment of the divine promise given to the human kind

The divine promise of eternal life can hold good only if the spiritual spark goes rightly in its development

Only by means of its complete becoming luminous and its ennoblement may it one day attain the lasting joy of being in the gardens of the Light

Against this there stand, upon man's path into the nearness of God, the hostility of the overgrown intellect and the insufficient maturity of the inner being

And these seeds hostile to God, sown by the fallen archangel in the human world, have grown up and now, under the inflowing of the Light, necessarily run riot with unprecedented force

They are like a sickness which breaks out at once wherever progress is striven for by someone on the ground of human and so-called well-meaning volition

Good volition we find today in many places

But even the best intentions, if they remain at the same time in the hands of intellectual sophistry and of spiritual immaturity, those two baleful directors of the greatest part of all human undertaking on Earth, end in such a way that sooner or later everything under their guidance comes only to collapse and to ruin

In nine cases out of ten it is thus with men of today that already at the very beginning of all the striving for the progress and the development of life upon this Earth the building is done upon wholly warped and wrongly laid foundations

In a short time this must in the end bring the finding that in the matter concerned an entirely wrong direction was taken

At once a new direction is then sought, but that too is almost always built upon a bad judgment of what is really healthy and helpful

It can also be likened to a derailed train hurtling on at speed, which for some time still moves forward, yet from its rough shuddering it is already evident beforehand that the outcome will end in catastrophe

The picture which is described here holds good not only for the general happenings of society, but at this very time it concerns balefully the life of every single man

Many men hurtle forward, not knowing how their path will end

They know nothing, but they suppose that in their hitherto disposition rescue and help will come to them at the last moment, without their wishing at the same time first to deal themselves with those two enemies who brought them to the derailment

Thus the influence of intellectuality is still tenaciously clung to in preference to receptivity and intuitive perception, and along with it there is at the same time still held the conviction that it is not needful to expend strength upon the knowledge of new connections concerning the meaning of human existence

And that of human existence not only here on Earth, but also within the whole of the work of Creation with all its further degrees and planes, granted by God for a lasting life in joyful and creative being

Thus the most important thing is still avoided, in the fear that even the mere touching of these two established idols would at once lead to a complete overturning in the life of man

And yet it lies solely and only in the hands of each one to fight these two enemies within himself and to be victorious over them

He can also conquer them quite easily, if only he strives for it with the needful earnestness and with the pure genuineness of his inner resolve to change at last to a simple manner of being

In simple, pure thinking and acting lies that true change for the better

If he strives for the change to a simple, unaffected life, much help comes to him swiftly today, which quickens his own inner receptivity of intuitive perception, whereby his inner being grows stronger and he frees himself from the two enemies mentioned, who bar the ascent to the Light

The maturity of the spirit can be won if in this man leads all his powers towards a clear considering and acting which vibrates in simplicity and straightness

And likewise it is only with advancing maturity that it is possible today to conquer at last the deceiving beast that lies hidden in wait within the pride of the intellect

To this also all the happenings on Earth now lead, as self-acting consequences in the working of the Light, whose aim is the awakening and the strengthening of the spirit towards the courage to awaken

Now the command of the Light is being fulfilled, that before the casting down of the rule of the Antichrist everything shall in the time of the Holy Judgment of God be drawn up to the surface, so that it may show itself in the most glaring manifestations of the desperate immaturity of the spirit and of the derangement of the intellect

And just as it was foretold, so exactly does it now come to pass

It is so that men may become aware of it in the fulfilment of how all the follies formerly still unthinkable now become an earthly experienced reality

And it is not in only one or two matters, as was the case before, when even in seemingly peaceful times manifestations of the over-ripe intellect came to the surface, or when human immaturity caused here and there an isolated uproar in eccentric forms which brought the life of society into unrest, uncertainty and irritation

Today, under the power of the Light, everything that hitherto slumbered like sleeping roots hidden beneath the visible world is driven to manifestation, so that it may awaken and in haste force forth its blossoms into fruits which are ever less edible

But the dullness of the masses is great

Therefore it will go still further, even to the complete disgust and despair of those who still endeavour to keep a free outlook independent of the outward influencing that leads only to dullness

It touches every single one who is permitted to be on Earth in this time

In this so earnest time, in which the further duration of the human spirit sparks upon the path of their development in Subsequent Creation is being decided, almost no one knows anything of the real happening which unfolds above every earthly man

Therefore today's world is literally infested with the burden of the most repulsive manifestations of human self-centredness and touchiness, of a burning longing to be seen at any price, manifestations walking at the same time right beside a contemptible superficiality and sloth, as lawful necessities which grow out of the nourishing soil of confused souls turned away from the Light

All these millennia-old deficiencies and also the transgressions committed upon the spirit, working against all the divine promises of that time, are now driven to become visible

Under the effect of the Laws of Creation the Light supports with its quickening power everything that is to be found in this gross materiality of the world-part Ephesus

The good and the light in the inner beings of men, as well as all that is turned away from the Light

According to the visible manifestations, the overgrowth and the over-ripeness of the intellect just mentioned, in its turning away, and also that immaturity in the knowledge of what is asked of the human spirit, show themselves in the overwhelming majority as against the number of those who husband their spirit rightly and govern their life with wisdom and with the will to the Truth

Sadly, precisely on account of this state, it is not yet well possible that under the intensified inflowing of the Light upon Earth there should unfold on a greater scale above all that will towards harmony and towards mutuality among men

Had men gone rightly in their development, then this very same inflowing, which now in the end must bring only collapse, could on the contrary have conveyed to them a great strengthening towards a glorious flowering such as has never yet been here on Earth

But this is hindered, alongside the overgrowth of the intellect, precisely by the immaturity of the spirit, which often leads only to foolish doing that in the result grows into mad manifestations, however well everything is meant at the beginning

In the immaturity of the spirit the good is not rightly distinguished from the evil

As is known, for greater matters and with a greater responsibility good volition alone does not suffice on Earth

Building upon their limited outlook of knowledge, men have for whole millennia already, often with the best volition for the world, done harm to their fellow men and to themselves, for as a rule they wish to enforce that which contradicts the Laws of Creation and thereby necessarily the healthy advance in development

In all greater doing here on Earth which reaches beyond the personal dimension of the individual, one can never proceed from the assumption that good volition alone is sufficient

The condition of the right path is a living perceiving through intuitive perception, together with the highest emphasis upon an all-embracing nobility of character, which shows itself through the virtues of man

There must also be, precisely through the intuitive perception, a maintained connection with the higher kinds of spiritual guidance of man, which alone makes it possible to take steps that reach beyond the ordinary seeing of today's world, which builds only upon earthly experiences and customs

It is therefore something much higher which, together with courage, is the condition for stepping out of the personal plane of the small existence of man onto the degree of helping others by guiding them, and thereby for taking a responsible stand in the shaping of the right paths for the development of life on Earth

From all this today's world on Earth is very far remote

Men therefore collide with one another through their immaturity and also through their own proud volition, which flows from the conviction of the intellect that thanks to it man surely knows everything best

According to it, it is only other people who see things wrongly, while he holds within himself the clearest view of the matter in hand

The assumption that man himself views this or that best out of himself is in the present time a great trap laid by the adversary of the Light for billions of human souls

With humility and a pure endeavour towards impartiality everyone could at once perceive, in a certain objectivity, the real essence of what takes place around him

Such a thing, however, demands courage and perseverance

Also an inner peacefulness and peace, which then flows from the first trust that a hand can be extended to everyone by the divine helps, if he is ready to open himself inwardly to it

Many men are in their deepest inner being not yet wholly and permanently inclined to evil, yet in them the immaturity of their spirit and at the same time the overgrowth of the intellect have brought to life the vibrations of their own pride and vanity, which will now show themselves as the hardest thing that needs to be overcome before co-operation and harmony can come about

And these two manifestations, now in their strengthening by the inflowing of the Light, drive unsuspecting mankind against one another, so that in the most ridiculous matters a hostility may assert itself which bears within it a feverish will to destroy those fellow men who have another view of life, or even only of some part of it

These manifestations assert themselves also in a hostility towards God through the loud mocking of His good counsels and warnings

In the mad ways of their acting men form within themselves the ground upon which in the near time the very tower of their pride must be heavily struck, which like a rank weed now shoots upwards under the pressure of the Light

It seems that the notion of something being sky-high is only today showing itself rightly

The pride of the intellect is indeed sky-high

And that is not yet enough, for it will grow until at the command of Parzival it is cast down by the warriors standing above the Earth

Yet amid all that is happening the sky-high height of all this mad acting still only rises to the boil and thereby to its still more threatening growth

As though this flowering wished to take for itself all the Light which belongs also to those other gentler and kindlier creatures on Earth

At the same time as though the towers of intellectual pride wished to overshadow the whole world of the more humble and the gentler men

But it is exactly according to the Law of sowing and harvest

Everything is at its rankest, after all, only just before the harvest

Thus before long it will show itself ever more plainly how those manifestations of human growing proud and growing coarse towards the perceiving of all that comes, which hitherto was permitted to flow out of the Light as the last echo of gracious helps, bear baleful fruit which will bring the necessity of a tearing down and a breaking

And for this everything now stands ready

The Ray of the Primordially Created Lion, clothed above the Earth in the visible form of a warrior in his shining armour, awaits the sign of his Lord

In his primordially spiritual power, which he holds in the nearness above this Earth, there is contained all that is needful for the breaking of the tower of pride in every man in whom this ruinous form of soul volition was permitted to take root and to grow

Behind the Lion there now stands ready an unsurveyable host of Luminous knights and warriors, which has drawn near to the Earth out of the heights of Creation for the carrying out of all the steps promised by God that are needful for the purification of this Earth and also of the mankind dwelling upon it

Everyone in this will be given over to crushing blows if he bears within him this kind of human ruinousness, or even only homogeneous shades of the vibrations unfolding out of it

Broken shall be everything that is not already pure and humble in itself in this respect, or that does not change for the better even at the last moment

Cast down will be all the hitherto exaltation of man wherever he regards himself as higher than other men

Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled

All that lies behind this command out of the Light cannot yet be conceived in the present thinking of men

Everywhere that pride shows itself, either the intellect is strongly present with its influence, or in unmastered soul conduct there shows itself the immaturity and thereby the unwisdom of the human spirit

Therefore everywhere that the urge to such conduct awakens in man, even in the smallest manifestation, there it is shown that the spiritual inner being does not rule over the vibrations of the soul and bodily tensions

And this is now asked for in the first place

The spirit and his intuitive perception must stand above all the volition and acting of man

Otherwise it is so that through his wrong decisions and conduct, remote from the pure virtues, the tower of his earthly built personality is exposed to the blow of the Light, by which this tower will be broken and will fall into dust

Nor will any man be a personality any longer unless there blazes within him an inner light of the spiritual kind, which holds a living connection with the all-embracing Light of God streaming to the Earth out of the heights of the work of Creation

Thus it will gradually show itself where a true personality is and where the matter was only one of outwardly built-up knowledge of the intellect, and also where the foundation was the skill of persuading others to reverence and glorification only thanks to their own immaturity

Under the heightened working of the manifestations of the Laws of God everything will soon be shaken, and the tower of the human presumption of one's own greatness will tremble and will be broken

Out of the ruins and the dust hovering over it all there will then arise a new age bearing within it humility and the shyness of men in any persuading of others of their own greatness and of their best knowledge of the way mankind is to take

Only in this state will a part of mankind find within itself that inner courage to admit that everything was otherwise

This will bring the individual and also society as a whole to ask always with their inner being and to seek the right answers to their questions

It will not be the foundation of a new learnedness of the Truth

It will be solely and only a fervent, living will to fulfil all that is needful for the maintaining of harmony in everything that the human will shall touch

This alone will already lead to a new ordering of all the relations among men and also between mankind and the animistic weaving in the world of nature

Today this is barely conceivable, because the over-ripeness of the intellectual view of the world enters at once into everything of which earthly man so much as thinks

Thereby the intellect at once halts him in the possibility of freeing himself from today's narrowed view and sets in his way distrust and the doubting words that “such a thing is surely not possible”

This inner disposition is in so many a man that today there is no power to find more than a few courageous ones who are able to cross the barrier of the distrust and the doubts of the intellect

The seeing of new ways on a greater scale is thus predestined only for the new age

Today it concerns only those who go forward with an open heart and who wish to seek ways which no one has walked hitherto, although it is clearly recognisable in them that they are the right ways

What is lacking here is the life that springs forth out of inner joy and out of trust in the Light

This is because the human world is all too much overshadowed by the towers of pride, which lie upon it like the curse of the Antichrist

At the same time the immaturity of the spirit leads to groping and thereby weakens the trust in the help of God in those who do not hold livingly within them the Word of Christ nor the Word of Truth brought from the Grail by Parzival Himself

To deal with this inner state of lifelessness is something each one needs to do only for himself

He has, however, about him for this a multitude of glorious helps which are at hand for him whenever he asks for them rightly

To learn to ask rightly, in joy and in trust, is also supremely important if the spirit longs to deal with both the enemies who hitherto held him down and did not allow him to soar up to the Light

It is high time to do so, for the towers of human pride already sway and draw near to their fall

Whoever longs not to be dragged down and buried by them under their crushing weight has high time to awaken

May this succeed for the greatest possible host of pure spirits
