The Belt of Gross Matter

Many people living on earth do not realise at all how very narrow a belt of space is set apart in the work of Creation for this plane of gross materiality

Although the gross material universe appears to earthmen as unbelievably vast, in reality we can speak of a nothingness in comparison with the other parts of Creation

All that to which many a man here on earth clings, upon which he often stubbornly builds the supposition of his own worth, is formed only in the narrow space of condensed radiation which was shaped by animistic working in the fulfilling of the Will of God

For this portion of a quite definite condensed radiation the term gross materiality is used

And out of this gross materiality men shape the stage of this social world with all its earthly joys and cares, with all the wars, revolutions, victories and repeated falls of empires unrolling again and again through whole millennia

In a very narrow belt of condensed radiation of ponderous matter the earthly world of men plays itself out

Although it is only the smallest portion of all the planes of the great work of Creation, many people live in the conviction that gross materiality is the only space which offers conditions for their conscious existence

Therefore also a great number of people fling all their strength into the mastering of it

The whole force of their attention is gathered upon this small point of the slowly dragging radiation of gross materiality

With this mental setting the whole of earthly life is then lived through by a great part of mankind

Even the smallest children are brought up to it from the first moments of their intellectual comprehension

Men wish to master matter in small things and in great, that it may serve them for their aims and their plans

Above all those who have long been intellectually trained by schools for matter live in the conviction of how very successful they in particular are in subduing this materiality

Directors of the most manifold bodies and companies, politicians, trained officials, soldiers, merchants, learned scientists, all these wage a struggle over how best to master gross matter and all the life to be found in it

Beside them there are then the hosts of billions of little folk longing also to gain some small thing of their earthly happiness

And in this setting strength is flung by mankind into the wresting of something from the body of matter, from its time and its space which offer themselves, appearing by their brevity as an unjustly short life

Men thus wage a struggle with matter on many fronts and suppose ever more that they are victorious over it

They do not divine, however, that by their setting of concentration upon matter they bring about exactly the opposite

That is, that the very materiality which through their often dogged striving they wish to subdue with all that belongs to it absorbs their spiritual strength into its transience

Transience is inseparably bound up with matter

And because the great Law of God in Creation holds good, that whatever receives the greatest strength through the volition of the human spirit returns to him with multiplied force, there returns to the greatest part of men solely and only transience

The heaviness of materiality swallows up all the repeated human flinging of spiritual forces into space and time of the earthly kind

Materially thinking people are slaves of matter

Of necessity matter surrounds them with its kind, as when a weight hangs from the basket of an air balloon

Matter swallows up the human spirit without yielding the counterweight of the refreshing which the human spirit needs

It can never grant the spirit the equivalent value which he needs for his upward flight into the heights of Creation

It can grant only a temporary ground for the ripening of the spirit in his meeting here with other people

Therefore it was made possible by the Wisdom of God that gross matter should arise as a support of the spirit for his experiencing with other people on the common way to the spiritual, to which the spirit is to draw nearer with every day

Nothing more is matter fitted to grant

If therefore concentrated strength is devoted to it by man, then it draws this strength out of the inner essence of man, but it cannot yield him in return the equivalent value needed for spiritual ascent, as many suppose

Out of matter itself spiritual enlightenment will never arise

All discoveries will always only draw the spirit back into wonder at the perfection of all that was formed by the working of the animistic servants in the fulfilment of granting a new space for the ripening of human spirits

Men were and still are to use matter as a support for their spirit, who grows and ripens through the virtues and the noble motives of good

For that too matter is ordered, that it may then self-actingly give to such striving of men all that is needful

If, however, their spiritual forces are flung by men in exaggerated measure only into the materially limited forms, in the endeavour wholly to subdue matter, then there always comes about only the draining away of this own strength of man

Thereby man grows old, loses his inner capacity for rejuvenation, which lies solely in the ability of childlike perceiving by the spirit, until at last he succumbs to the influence of materiality far sooner than would have been granted him in the ordering laid down beforehand by the Wisdom of God

Until now men have not recognised that the endeavour after longevity lies precisely in the exact opposite of their striving

That longevity lies in the raising of the spirit above matter and in the drawing of beneficent forces out of planes of another kind than the essence of matter itself

These planes are unimaginably vast, and in them are inexhaustible stores of radiant Power for all human spirits, were they but to open themselves to them all at once

There will always be giving out of the inexhaustible ocean of the Light, in which refreshing is to be found for everyone who only longs in the right way for a true influx of inner strength

This ocean is of the animistic kind and lies in the wide planes of the gardens of Asgard

And above all this, still higher – high above Valhalla itself, lies the homeland of the spirit – the spiritual Paradise, whence comes all that is needful for the ascent of every one of men

It is unbelievable when we consider how narrow is the belt of gross materiality which formed itself as a precipitate of dense radiation in the Subsequent Creation, and how much the human spirit is able to leave behind of himself in this small part of Creation

Here the spirit is to develop towards higher worlds

Temporarily anchored in an earthly body, he is meanwhile to strive with all his strength towards eternal values

Therein lies his strength, which then allows him to penetrate with lightness and also far more purposefully into everything that bears within it the radiation of gross materiality

Gross matter was for this purpose cooled and thereby precipitated into the matter of the universe by the animistic servants called to it, Hermetes and Hathmes

Under the influence of their will there formed itself the belt in which gross material space and time hold good

Space and time emerged as the necessary consequence of the precipitating of a radiation finer than the smallest particles which can be caught in the materialities by the observing instruments of science

The belt of gross materiality resembles in part a disc convex on both sides, which is joined from above with the other parts, which turns and expands in the space belonging to the sphere of the ethereal

This disc, which from the view from within outwards appears as almost infinite, seems when viewed from without, in comparison with the other parts belonging to the Subsequent Creation, as a nothingness

This only recalls again and again that transience of gross material matter, which will one day exhaust all the forces of the suns and, swallowed by the sucking force, will have to decompose again, so that, refreshed in this decomposition, it may serve once more in the form of radiation for a new upbuilding

The disc arose through a flash and the subsequent cooling of an originally finer radiation, which in the precipitating of the particles thereby arising became ever more dense

One day men will understand the whole wondrous course of the creating contained in it on the part of the High animistic servants of Valhalla

In the end, however, the knowledge of the arising of the gross material universe is to lead only to ardent thanks for the possibility of temporarily enjoying in it all the gifts contained within it

In this men are to remain trusting as children, although they may have great knowledge of all that is material

Gross materiality has no secrets, just as nothing that is a part of the work of Creation has any secret

There are no secrets, there is only immaturity in the understanding of the happenings

And the gross matter of the universe will always yield something out of its fullness, yet it must be received as thankful knowledge and not as the expression of an endeavour to wrest it from the body of matter for small human needs

Matter can be pliant and thus serve the human spirit well, if he approaches it with an understanding of the entirety of himself, that is, with the knowledge of who he himself is and for what purpose he was born into the material covering of the body

That is now the condition for all further endowments of earthly mankind

Such is the gross materiality of the world-part bearing the name Ephesus

Everything that unrolls in the gross material world is so transient that it is also possible to speak of a very thin boundary which divides every creature from all the further life-giving planes

All that lives in nature, unlike earthmen, also senses this thin boundary and lives fully in accord with it

Animals, whether more or less conscious, easily cross this boundary, so as in the time of sleep or after their death to withdraw swiftly from the former earthly covering of the body, which can no longer grant them a support for further existence, and they hasten back to their soul-animistic origin in the planes of Asgard

Men, however, live firmly bound to matter through their whole earthly life in unawareness of the knowledge that they are joined by a thousand threads with planes of the finer spiritual kind

Their precious strength of spiritual origin they fling solely and only into the material space of earthly matter

The influence of man, formed during the time of his earthly life upon all that is here on the plane of gross matter, dissolves at the moment when, with the laying aside of the earthly covering of the body, the moment of the great change comes for him

Of everything there remain to him only the threads of fate woven of his motives, with which he passed through the time of his earthly life

In materiality there will remain of it in the end nothing that could have the abiding value of eternity

All that is pressed by the human will into this world in the endeavour to call forth only an outward imprint which is to influence others in their way of life will not stand, for matter did not come into being for such a thing

Without inner awakening and enthusiasm all earthly ordinances and laws will bring nothing in the spiritual development of man

In this matter is the mouldable material, the moving force is the spiritual spark in man

Whoever today still awaits a transformation of human society for the better in spiritual development merely through the enforcing of an outward ordering of conditions shows himself as inwardly immature

Such a man does not bear within him the needful knowledge of the necessary laws in the work of Creation

For the attaining of genuine and truly valuable changes of mankind mere material changes alone can achieve nothing, however well they may be devised

We can indeed observe it everywhere where outward conditions have wholly changed in the course of millennia, yet the people in them still stand at a similar level

Gross materiality is here for something entirely different

Its nature of condensed radiation is here only as a support for the development and the ascent of the human spirit

In its space and time it is given to the human spirit to make his own the knowledge of the preciousness of the threads which are a part of his further fate in the work of Creation

Everything else that is bound up with matter will change swiftly after his departure, so as to make room for the new

Materiality is then at once reworked, so as to serve further human spirits in their development, or so that after some time he himself may return, if conditions in the radiation of materiality are created for his return in order to continue in his development

Whoever understands this real task of matter and thereby also gains insight into the properties of the radiation of gross materiality can more easily set himself free

He will set himself free because he redirects the forces of his volition upwards to the spiritual goal which endures above the level of the radiation of gross materiality

The devoting of himself to high, eternal values will in the end, in the livingness of his striving, bring him blessing also in gross materiality itself, for so it was ordered from the beginning by the creative Power

The inward drives all that is outward

Thus the spiritual in man is that which, in co-operation with the shapers of the happenings in the materialities, the Alphar, influences all further development

And this development will in the end lawfully bring an imprint also into earthly gross materiality

Of all this Jesus sought to speak to His disciples when He brought near to them the parable of the faith that moves mountains

He sought to bring near to them the knowledge of the inner power slumbering in their spiritual essence

His words too described exactly the happenings in the material world, when He spoke of how, even were the temple of Solomon destroyed to the last stone, if its prototype comes from God then another could come who would grasp the prototype of this temple in his inner being and thus make it possible for it to descend again into the gross materiality of this earth

All that comes from the spiritual planes is eternal

And out of this eternity there is to be spun by human spirits open in their sensitivity in the upward direction all that is needful, resembling the foundation stones of a building, so that afterwards, in co-operation with the animistic ones, works of unprecedented splendour may be created on earth which by their grandeur will glorify the perfection of the Creator, from which alone everything comes

Therefore it is possible to say that gross matter is in reality an enveloping husk of a dense kind of radiation for all that comes from the prototypes out of the heights

Men can master materiality through the values of eternity, which of necessity always vibrate in Harmony with the whole of the work of Creation

But today this is not the personal knowledge of anyone among men on earth as it could and also should already have been

This is because it contains within it something far greater than the earthly brain with its narrowed thinking can grasp

Thinking comes in part also out of radiation of the material kind, and therefore it will never have the strength to swing itself higher above the space and the time of the materialities

Such a thing can be done only by the ardent intuitive perception in man, which is in this to be strengthened and exercised as an ability of the spirit which has become wholly stunted in men

The spirit unfettered by matter is many times stronger than that man who presses all his strength by the will of his volition into everything material

The true rulership of the human spirit, appointed for this world from the beginning, was to lie in his ability to remain with his receptivity above the narrowed boundary of gross materiality

The human spirit can rule only if he himself vibrates with the forces in Creation in which the entire Harmony is to be found

This manner of ruling lies in this, that the spirit, with the knowledge of the whole work of Creation, enters ever more consciously from the plane of the spirit into the plane of gross materiality

The boundary separating the part of gross materiality from the others is immensely thin and fragile

In a single moment all that is earthly can be laid aside, so that suddenly the more inward essence of man may enter upon a way in another degree of his existence

That which is obdurately suppressed by many will suddenly become a present reality

All that they held to be fully in their hands will in a single moment become the past

All in which here on earth they were able to hold dominion over other people will lose its might at the moment of the dissolving of the gross material boundary

In the same moment the influence of the Justice of God will begin to work upon the human spiritual spark, all at once more bared in the covering of the soul, with a wholly different effect than it had until then in the certain fortification of the gross material body, so as thus suddenly to swing the soul in a wholly different direction from what had until then been expected by man in his earthly thinking

Surprising therefore is the moment of experiencing for all those who supposed themselves to be standing high spiritually, but who in reality built this supposition only upon the shallow desires of their own overestimation of themselves

And alas, it may be said that in the whole history of mankind great hosts have already fallen victim to this delusion

In the beguilement of their own self-exaltation these hosts lost themselves on the way to the Light and force their way towards the half-darkness of the soul planes, where a place of misery and of utter loneliness has formed itself for them

Whole earthly years, centuries or even millennia they will be compelled to ripen here, so that each of them may understand that he violated something of the great Harmony of the work of Creation when he wrongly supposed himself to be something more than he really is

They are those people who, in the longing to count for something more than others, proceeding from false conceptions, convinced both themselves and other people of the supposition of their own high worth in the work of Creation

Where the worth of a man does not proceed from the true foundation of the Laws of God in Creation, there it is always only a matter of self-deception

Thereby all the expectations of such people are false, and under the Light of Truth they will crash down exactly where they truly belong

At the moment of the laying aside of the protective gross material boundary of the earthly body and of its thinking intellect there comes not seldom the impact upon the real worth, as regards radiance, of a soul that merely vegetates

All that was skilfully created by such people with the intellect in gross materiality suddenly falls

The greatest fame becomes a nothingness in the finer worlds, just as the belt of gross materiality itself is in its way a nothingness in the work of Creation

It is therefore no surprise that many who hold themselves on earth to be socially valuable, or who perhaps even appear before others as knowers of something spiritual, bear within themselves a subconscious fear of this change which is bound up with the laying aside of their gross material covering of the body

Many too have truly reason enough to fear the change which will come along with it

In the end, however, it will of necessity come to everyone, so as swiftly to reveal the real state of the human soul

But at the same time it is also wholly otherwise with those souls which in the earthly world bore in their consciousness the setting of sincere humility and of making themselves small, for their inner being, on being freed from the gross material covering, will only shine out the more strongly with the pure glow of spiritual luminosity

There are exactly as many different experiences when people leave the earthly world as there are people in the world

No one can wear another man's shoes, and everyone must in the end go through exactly what he has prepared for himself by his way of life

The world of gross matter creates perhaps for a time the semblance of a world of its own, closed in upon itself

Thereby it offers cunning people the supposition of strength and of superiority over others who are perhaps not so adroit here in matter with the intellect

Yet it is not, and never for a single moment was, severed from the whole of the work of Creation

It is always closely joined with all the Laws of Creation, which pervade it also and which, by the hands of the animistic servants, join everything onwards into the other planes

It floats in the lower part of the whole of Creation like a belt of nebula which makes possible the immersion of the human spiritual kind for its experiencing and its ripening

The nebula of condensed radiation forms a support for the ascent of all that is spiritual, if it is rightly and fully used for the making one's own of the accord with the entire Harmony of the work of Creation

It is until now a great and fateful fault that men are not led to this knowledge by all those who have knowledge of it from the work of the Grail Message

The leading is to be irradiated with the brightness and the visible freedom of spirit of those who are already ahead in it

It is precisely kindliness and ardour in the illumining of the connections that is to become the strongest part of the voice calling to the awakening of all who still slumber in the present time

For everything, the spiritual enlightenment which is to lead urgently to awakening and to mobility, it is to be the very radiance of the spiritual inner being of those people who now work most strongly in blessed service to the Light

Therefore too there has already been repeated speech of the great opportunity of the 100 days of transformation, which offers itself to every spirit if he uses the time from May to September for fully entering upon the way to the recognition of the Creator and of His Work

And because we find ourselves in a time of upheaval, there will now also be devoted to this, for all who have enrolled for this call, a special [time of meeting in the first week of the month of August, on the days August 2 – August 4](https://www.cesta-gralu.cz/setkani-2024-08/) at a place which offers itself for it as fitting soil for strengthening in this summer

All further particulars have also for some time been given in the invitation on THE WAY OF THE GRAIL

Many threads are in movement, for they are now strongly set vibrating by the nearness of the Ray of Parzival close above gross materiality

The threads set vibrating by the Light oscillate and lead to the resurrection of all that sleeps

Out of this there will at last arise that spiritual enlightenment on earth so much looked for by many people

Thereby the belt of gross materiality itself will also light up and, to the amazement of many, will bring to life happenings of which materially minded people always supposed that they belonged to the realms of legends and fairy tales

The gross materiality quickened by the Light will then convince many intellectual doubters that they themselves in fact never rightly knew it, and that for that very reason materiality could not give them out of itself, as a counterweight, that portion of blessing which is to be found in it solely and only through the animistic servants

Then, when the voices of all intellectually material people have fallen silent, there will arise on earth a state of active co-operation with all the other inhabitants who are in the planes of the Light in the work of Creation

Out of this there will then be born a period of great upbuilding of life on earth, which will be led to the joyful extolling of the Creator and thereby also to the grace-filled blessing of the whole of mankind
