Recognition of the Truth is something precious for the human spirit, and it is granted to him always only through the graciousness of the Light
Yet not everyone is rightly prepared for this grace of recognising the Truth
The greater number of human spirits have not ripened to the degree that would allow the Truth to draw directly near to them
And many a human spiritual spark will indeed never reach the degree at which this great grace could come to it
Man does not make himself aware of the fact that upon the paths through the Subsequent Creation there are whole hosts of spirits who will never come to the recognition of that Truth which in its greatness and all-embracing scope comes forth from the Holiness of God
It is not that the Truth refuses to come to them, but that they themselves, through their inner attunement, make it impossible for the Truth to draw near to them
That knocking at the door of the Truth already spoken of by Jesus is not fulfilled by them, so that this precious door might be opened to them
Just as there are whole planes in the Subsequent Creation where it is not possible to recognise the Truth, so also here on earth there is a multitude of men who through their striving hitherto exclude the possibility that the Truth might enter into their nearness
This is because the Truth demands of the human spirit the liveliness already spoken of
Only a lastingly living, longing striving to attain it leads to its recognition
This, however, is what many men lack
Where this inner kind of movement is lacking, which awakens in the pure longing to recognise the higher meaning of existence, there that which by its very nature is the most living and the most strongly vibrating in the whole work of Creation cannot unite itself with man
This most living is the radiant Light issuing from the Divine
* *
In the Light radiating out of the Divine the Truth is contained
The radiance of the Truth rests in its unceasing welling forth from the Primordially Eternal Source of Life, which dwells in God Himself
That this mobility of the outstreaming radiance of the Truth may be caught and also held in the nearness of man, he needs for this the unfolding of the highest inner liveliness
Therefore the Truth remains for many men a preciousness which they will never work their way through to with their inner being
It is sad, and from a certain point of view also hard to grasp, but great hosts of sparks of the human spirit have so weakened in their shining that their subsequent paths bore them ever further away from the Light
Thus the Truth had to remain wholly distant from them, and the refreshing riches which lie in its radiance for all creatures they must pass by, and so squander their time of existence
In the end the life in all their coverings must be extinguished in these sparks, and the coverings, sunk in the darkness, disintegrate, so as then to release the bared spiritual core in its unripeness
And the unripe inner being of such weak spiritual sparks must then lose even the little self-consciousness it possessed, and, drawn by the Law of Homogeneity, it returns into the nebulae of the circling belts of the spiritually unconscious
It is thus stripped of the whole of its past existence
Through the squandering of existence the possibility of blissfully drawing strength out of the Truth perishes for such spiritual sparks for ever
The Truth is a refreshing and healing radiant Light, a precious jewel which, however, cannot come into the hands of man if he does not strive of his own accord to attain the nearness of the Truth
Thus it holds that even if perhaps he once gained it through the grace of the Light in his highest inner striving, he can lose it again when he afterwards slackens
Even though he then supposes with his intellect that he still holds the Truth in his hands, in its liveliness it is already far removed from his spirit
Only single particles of the Truth then remain in the intellect of earthman, who supposes that through these fragments it is still the whole Truth which is with him
The actual recognition and comprehension of the Truth, however, is far from him
Men need to become aware of this
Only thereby does there arise for them the healthy and humble recognition that the Truth is not a matter of course for everyone, but that its nearness is conditioned for man by the lasting highest liveliness of his spiritual inner being
However much a great host of men lay claim to the recognition of the Truth in the belief that they are beyond question prepared for it, their own superficial and indolent attitude sets in operation the lawful fact that the Truth will not come to them
It cannot come to them, for by their own condition they thrust it away
For the Truth to draw near, man must first create the right soil in his inner attitude, and here on earth also in the approach of his thinking to the concepts inseparably bound up with the Truth
This attitude rests in purity of intuitive perceiving and of thinking
Therein, however, lies hidden a heavy obstacle for the millions who in their lukewarmness are too indolent to think purely and independently about all the fundamental questions of life
In their comfortableness they let themselves be dragged along by the opinions and attitudes of other men, without ever once reflecting upon these opinions independently for themselves
In this, however, their approach needs to change from the ground up
They must first awaken within themselves their own will to seek the Truth about life
For this it is above all needful to root out of themselves every prejudice against the concepts which are part of the Truth, but which in the history of mankind have often been dragged down and desecrated
To these belongs also the concept most precious to man – God
Precisely the most highly precious concept is for many men so afflicted with distortion and defilement that upon this concept a great number of seekers come to a halt at once, and because of its distortion they cannot come nearer to the Truth
For a great part of the spirits this concept has become painfully sensitive, and at the same time ungrasped
For many men it is also irritating and provoking
The lofty concept so disquiets many spirits that many avoid it altogether, in the belief that thereby everything will be settled for their greater peacefulness
They then try to go round this concept, supposing that they can gain the Truth together with its precious content if they cleverly evade the concept God
The concept God, however, is firmly bound up with the Truth, it cannot be gone round, and every attempt at outwitting leads such men only to a false conception of the Truth
For the reception of the Truth God cannot be replaced by the universe, by nirvana, by a multitude of deities, nor by materialism or by a philosophical humanism at whose centre stands man as the determiner of the values of the world
In all such reflections the man seeking the Truth walks upon wrong paths
Only the concept God, grasped in its unsubstantiate nature as the primordially eternal starting point of all Life, is the way that leads to the Truth
In the same way Jesus Christ as the Son of God is bound up with the Truth, and also Parzival and Imanuel as the Son of Man
Inseparably belonging to the Truth is also the concept of the Grail at the summit of Creation, and further concepts, among which for the Subsequent Creation there is still Valhalla, the important seat of the high animistic servants, as the anchorage and at the same time the starting point of the forces for the animistic fulfilling of the Will of God in the materialities
All these concepts demand right recognition and also their right placing in the comprehension of man, if his inner being longs to work its way through to the Truth
Human spirits, however, seek to deny these concepts, because in the nature of their origin they are too strong for them, and therefore they wish to replace them with their own wrong reflections about the Truth
This manner, however, must of necessity halt them at a certain degree and let them go no further upon the path
However much whole hosts have therefore tried for millennia to use another way to the Truth, they cannot come further than to a certain degree, where they are halted
This halting often leads to disappointment or even to resentment, whereupon they finally turn away from everything that strengthens man towards goals higher than the small everyday affairs of life
All these seekers come up again and again in some way against the lofty concept God, which demands of them that they approach it rightly in a healthy and humble distance, for therein alone lies the progress that brings liberation from the previous distorting forms of this concept
And without liberating their thinking from distorting conceptions of God and of His work of Creation they can never draw near to the Truth
The power of purity for advancing higher in their recognition is then lacking to them for ever
The Truth then remains for them in its lofty radiance distant and unattainable
To change their view of those serious concepts which are part of the recognition of the Truth demands of a great part of men a fundamental inner struggle which not everyone is willing to undergo
In the end such men halt half-way and rather reject the Truth together with its liberating knowledge, because they are not willing to set in their powers for the said inner struggle for true recognition
The Truth thereby does not come one small step nearer to them, for that remains with them and with the change in the attitude of their perceiving of the world
By the rejecting of the concepts mentioned above the Truth on the contrary withdraws from them, and by their approach they only make their own path through life harder, entangling themselves in the threads of fate
This exhausts them and takes from them precious powers for the struggle for the real essence of the recognition of the Truth
In order to draw near to the Truth from their degree of maturity they would have to fight for this Truth themselves, and indeed to the very edge of all their powers, so as to build with their spirit a bridge leading across the abyss which has formed through the direction they have taken in life hitherto
Since, however, these men lack the recognition that mankind has itself deviated from the naturalness of the ordering of the work of Creation and thus also from all the paths leading to the Truth, an obstacle is thereby laid before them which they are not able to overcome
The Truth remains far from them for a long time, indeed even permanently
Thereby the preciousness of the refreshment which the Truth conveys to the human spirit also withdraws from them
Its precious strengthening radiance remains far from the inner being of the men who stray upon the way
Yet in their straying they need to drink at least a little from the quickening vibration of the Truth, because they urgently need strength to pull themselves together, so that they need not be cast into perdition
Who can help these straying sparks upon their way
Who will convey to them the drawing of a draught of refreshment from the spring of the Truth
It can only be those who have themselves become knowing in its recognition and who in their lasting liveliness keep the Truth in their nearness
These knowing ones, who stand by the Truth, have the possibility of building at least in part the bridges for the rescue of the hosts of spirits already almost lost
In order to do so, however, they need to work themselves upward still further in their maturity
They need to be living themselves in every further and new recognising of the fine degrees of the Truth which it contains in an all-embracing scope beyond all surveying
In the endlessness of recognising they have the possibility of penetrating into new gradations of the Truth and of recognising therein the confirmation of the fundamental Laws of the Wisdom of God, which are to be found in everything as a connecting radiance that runs helpfully through all parts of the work of Creation
Only thus equipped can they step forth to meet all who seek seriously and bring them the single pieces of the bridging, so that at least particles of the radiance of the Truth may come nearer to the unknowing and unripe spirits
It must be proceeded in this way, so that the inner being of the seekers gradually brightens, gains in mobility, and thereby prepares within itself the soil for the moment of receiving the precious gift of the Light, when the Truth will at last be able to draw near to the seekers in a flash of enlightenment
Only then will men thus touched by the Truth be able to recognise and to value its precious life-giving power of radiation, which the Truth always bears within itself
There is therefore here on earth the highest task for everyone who in the grace of the Light was permitted to receive the Truth, that he should husband this Truth wisely and increase its living Light for those spiritual sparks which of themselves would not have will enough to reach the Truth
It is a task filled with loving-kindness, which uplifts everyone who places himself into this helping stream with the whole of his spiritual inner being
Joyful and unconditional giving is the fundamental starting point of success
No one should thereby feel himself of greater worth when he meets the complete ignorance of spirits still straying, who are only gradually becoming seekers
On the contrary, it should be a ground for fervour and also for the highest inner movement, so that the building of the bridge to the recognition of the Truth may be right and bear within itself the wisdom of gradual construction, which alone can bring success for all
It is now high time for the awakening of the many who bear within themselves an awakening longing, but who have not yet the strength to stride forward and who also do not know the right direction
Whoever comprehends all this can now no longer wait even for a moment with his hands in his lap, for this is the time which makes it possible to bring help to many human spirits who under the touch of the Truth will blossom into beauty and will bear witness in the blessedness of the Light to all those whom they now go forth to help without any demands or special conditions in their seeking of the Truth
If the knowing man expends his strength sacrificially for the help of others, then for him too the Truth opens itself still further, like a treasury whose precious gifts never come to exhaustion
The more the knowing ones occupy themselves with how they may pass the Truth on lovingly and wisely to the seekers, the more does the Truth become for them at once a living spring, which with every new effort at passing the Truth on brings them refreshing vistas, in the measure in which they strain their powers for the help of others
It is a law of Creation that only in a giving which is filled with genuine striving and struggle for others do the gifts out of the Truth come in further and still stronger degrees of enlightenment to those who are the givers
The key to the precious treasures of the Truth lies in this simple Law of giving and taking
There are here on earth now in this time many who are called to help other men upon their path of the spirit
And for all of them the Truth in its inexhaustible influx is now also made ready in God's greatness and loving help
The Truth draws near to the earth in loving bestowal for the support of each of the said called ones
In their movement and in their sacrificial readiness to help others lies the measure of the gifts of the Truth appointed for their own fulfilment of spiritual blessedness
For all the knowing ones it holds: now is the time for the Truth to be able to reach all men who seek it seriously
Such men are not few, on the contrary, their numbers grow with every new day
This is because we find ourselves in the age when the Ray of Parzival brings through its radiation the awakening of millions of spirits who are still to be saved, so that they may then be permitted to pass over into the new enlightened age here on earth
Therefore all are now called to the highest movement, and that in spirit as well as in body
The time of glorious helping of all who are beginning to awaken is at hand
For all those who are awakening the Truth is to be offered in its preciousness
Precisely through this preciousness these awakening ones will always have to win it for themselves through their highest striving, but this will be of blessing for them, for only thus will they value the Truth they have gained and will also guard it vigilantly through the movement of their inner being for themselves and for others for all times upon this earth
