The Animistic Herdsmen in Connection With Earthly Men

Today there is yet to be added a supplement to the previous knowledge about the Alphar, who work here on earth as the herdsmen of the animistically unconscious life

The basic picture of their life-producing work has already been given, in which with the greatest faithfulness they fulfil their mission in working into this gross material world

Yet something important is still lacking, so that there might come to men for their understanding a further part of the knowledge about their supremely wise fulfilling of service, that part which concerns precisely earthly mankind

Yes, there is still lacking here that part which brings the answer whether men can in some ways be in cooperation with these herdsmen

To many readers the thought has surely come whether it was ever made possible for man to enter into connection with the Alphar, and whether it is possible today also, or whether it will perhaps become a possible happening only in a time to come

For it would indeed be very valuable to know beforehand what the Alphar have as their task, and hence what is to come into the path of mankind in a given time

Many men already know that one can speak with the small and also with the greater animistic servants working in the elements and also about the plants

As we shall gradually make clear to ourselves here, although the Alphar are in a certain sense of a different species than the animistic ones in the elements and in the plants, because they come directly from the race of the Aesir in the gardens of Asgard, yet here too it holds that men can perceive them and can even converse with them

But only upon the fulfilment of the conditions of their awakening and of their inner progress

From the beginning of the coming into being of the materialities the animistic ones were here the close companions of men

By the direction of the Will of God earthly men were to perceive all the animistic servants as their friends, from whom they can always learn much

It is, however, at the same time needful to point out here that it is not given to human spirits in the Subsequent Creation to enter into cooperation with all the animistic servants and to converse with them

This knowledge is important

There are animistic servants who have never entered into closer connection with human spirits, and in their case nothing of the sort will ever come to pass either, for the content of the activity to which they are called requires their complete separateness from the spiritual inhabitants of Creation

It is needful to accept that there are whole sections of servants in Creation who will always stand aside from the human will, for these are in the work of Creation

subject solely to the Will of God

In their wishes men need to walk along passable paths if they wish to attain success

Therefore it is well to become aware that the animistic ones are divided into those who may cooperate with men directly and those who cannot do so, nay who by the direct demand of a higher will must not

Of animistic servants there are many species in Creation, of which a certain part is set for direct cooperation with human spirits

It is therefore needful to have this knowledge

Although for the building on of the Subsequent Creation all the animistic servants awakened to their consciousness in Valhalla under Mercury's fulfilling of service to Parzival, in order to help the human spiritual sparks ripening here, only a part of these servants is released for closer cooperation with the human inhabitants of this part of Creation

Therein lies the fundamental difference between the Alphar, the Vaenen and the wide host of animistic servants

The Vaenen are the weavers of the threads of fate out of the volition of man

The Alphar then create and shape the conditions for the development of the planes of the materialities upon the basis of precisely those threads woven beforehand by the Vaenen

The Vaenen first weave out of human volition the radiation which runs, according to the immutable Laws of Creation, to those places where these threads in their ripening wisely bide their time, in order in their multiplied burdening with that which was sown by men to return again to the spiritual

The Alphar then shape out of this radiation the present reality, which thereafter spreads everywhere around man

The happening takes place exactly as folk wisdom describes it

Precisely in the simple saying “As one calls into the forest, so it echoes back” we can readily observe that that “calling into the forest” is first woven and guided by the Vaenen, and that its return in the “echoing back out of the forest”, that is back to man, is shaped by the Alphar into the conditions of the material present

However much both these kinds of exalted animistic servants belong to the animistic species which in its origin is split off from the luminous Aesir themselves, the Alphar can in a certain manner become near to men, whereas the Vaenen, by the strict demand of the Will of God, always remain outside man and never enter into closer connection with him

In this determination there is contained the command of the Wisdom of God of the necessary non-influenceability which must always hold for the weaving of the threads of fate, whereby the Vaenen remain forever only in strict subordination to the Will of God, and for this purpose they remain distant from all other influences in Creation

Literally said, the Vaenen stand beyond the reach of human influencing

Therefore it is known even among men that the Will of God cannot be bribed by man, for it works and weaves beyond the reach of our influencing

The Vaenen are weavers who, in faithful subordination to the supremely Just Will of God, remain untouchable and unreachable to a direct influencing by the volition of the human spirit

They stand above man, so that through their hands there pass in the form of radiation all the impulses of the human inner being on the plane of the intuitive vibrations, of the volition of thought and of the gross material deeds themselves

However often through this weaving the Vaenen are exposed to the experiencing of many unbeautiful things, of anger and indeed of every possible evil volition of men, they do it in a supremely objective manner, without in man's own threads of fate

favouring him in anything or making anything heavier for him

Although they weave the mentioned threads of human volition, they are never in any connection with man save solely through the weaving itself of the kind of volition radiated out by him

They do not influence him, nor do they counsel him what and how he could and should change

Anything of the sort is not the task of the exalted Vaenen, faithfully devoted solely to the Will of God

Yet a different task falls precisely to the Alphar

It is made possible for the Alphar to draw near to men at a certain degree of their maturity, if this is of benefit for the becoming luminous of the human-spiritual species in the life on earth

That there are these marvels in the animistic working man will grasp only in the moment when his spirit attains to the true knowledge of how all-embracingly and helpingly the Love of God works in the work of Creation

It must here be added to this that something of the sort does not come to pass at all often, nay it may be said that although it is possible, such a connection with men comes about only under exceptional circumstances

The ancient nations were permitted at their stages of development to attain, through certain chosen individuals, to such a sensitising that these could then enter into closer connection with some of the Alphar

Such connections we can trace as recorded in many legends and myths of the old nations

In these myths this connection is then described in such a way that there drew near to the given men someone strong and mighty who wielded remarkable abilities, which simple men understood as sorcerer's spells

The one concerned worked in a supremely just manner, and in this justice he helped good conduct and punished evil deeds

In this attitude of his such a helper then appeared to men as a higher creator of the happenings in the human world

They explained it to themselves precisely by this, that the one concerned, whom they recognised as a being speaking to them, had supernatural abilities, for he brought diseases and led them away again, he ruled over animals and also awakened an invisible power whose origin men did not suspect, and thus they did not know whence it came

This power they called either the power of the earth or the power of the dragon

This power of an invisible supra-earthly effectiveness intervened among men and caused them sudden experiences in their own material life

It was exactly as when in the happening of a fairy tale the state of the inner being of man can have its share in the victory or in the decline of his path

Thus worked the great Alphar, who had under them always a whole host of their helpers, who ruled directly over the unconscious animistic which surrounds this earthly world on all sides

These great Alphar thus came from time to time in order to warn men who were open of that which would come if they did not change

The radiance of a supra-earthly kind which went forth from their being as it drew near to the more receptive men, among whom belonged precisely the priests and priestesses of the pagan faiths, led not infrequently to the supposition that the Alphar concerned belonged to some kind of divine race

In reality, however, such an animistic herdsman drew near to men in order in kindliness to point out to them the necessity of the bringing of some one of the animistically unconscious species, which would soon appear if men did not change for the better

One of such animistic herdsmen was the Alphar whom the mythical tales preserved to this day describe as Merlin, who moved among the tribes and nations preceding the present-day inhabitants of Britain

The tales often designate this Alphar as a sorcerer or a magician wielding a kind of dragon power, who could influence the world around men

But that is only a very distant and distorted rendering by those who in reality never spoke with this glorious servant, but sought to set down something of the orally transmitted tales into stories, yet only later and merely from hearsay, and moreover at a great remove of centuries

Merlin, as a great Alphar, led with his radiant power, by means of warnings and counsels, certain human kindred tribes towards a greater purity, until in the end a receptivity for the higher happenings in Creation was permitted to awaken in them

And along the paths of this receptivity there came to them after a time tidings of a high spiritual kind, when at this time there was permitted to appear on earth the name Parzival, as a great promise for earthly mankind

In spiritual pictures there were shown the happenings concerning the youth and the path of the King of Creation, whose knighthood faithfully accompanies him on his fulfilling stewardly path through Creation, that he might reward all the pure and the upright and reject that which he finds impure and bound up with evil

There was also brought nearer his victorious struggle with the tempter, who at that time already wholly ruled the mankind of those days

This was a great strengthening to those earthly men who longed in their inner being to live honourably and justly

They were permitted to look forward to the coming of him who will judge them and, should he find them living justly, will receive them into his wide circles of faithful servants

Since the rulers of these ancient tribes, despite a certain coarseness and roughness of theirs, were permitted to open themselves to the currents from ever higher places, so the Alphar whom they called Merlin could also help them in this, that the unconscious animistic which he brought was in some of its manifestations of help to these tribes and struck those enemies who waged wars of attack against them

Men were thus permitted to experience in immediate recognition that purity of motives leads to protection on his part, and that conversely impure volition is pursued by diseases and by crop failure and by a flood of all manner of pests

Thus, thanks to the counsels of Merlin, the pure striving of some men was raised up

Despite their earthly invisibility the small particles of the unconscious animistic species were permitted to help men towards their material thriving and health, whenever Merlin pointed out to them the need of a pure becoming luminous in the given periods of the sun, the moon and the other planets

He dwelt among these tribes for a certain time and withdrew only in the moment when into the animistic spheres of Valhalla there came the first tidings of the necessary coming of Jesus the Son of God to the earth for the hastened rescue of this world part of Ephesus

Merlin knew that his task was thereby ended, for the perceiving of the men prepared by him was opened for a more lasting reception of higher spiritual vibrations, and therefore he now left the further earthly development to how purely the human-spiritual would join itself to the knowledge with which his counsels could never be compared

He knew that his time of connection with men was fulfilled, so that his counsels might not be a hindrance to men in the experiencing of the Word of God, which in Jesus was drawing near to these worlds

In humility and in the awareness that he had fulfilled his task among the earthly men with whom he was permitted to enter into connection, he became again invisible for his further working with the unconscious animistic life

It is not in place here to describe all the happenings of the working of this extraordinarily helping animistic herdsman in closer pictures, for the basic picture of it suffices, which holds also for the future time of a possible cooperation of men and the animistic herdsmen – the Alphar, which, however, is always conditioned by a pure and childlike simple trust

In reality similar events also took place, with various differences, among men on all the continents of the earth

With the animistic herdsmen man can cooperate only through his own genuine purity

All else is an ineffectual striving which in the end always misses its effect

Men should also know that any intellectual resistance against the working of the unconscious animistic species of life brought by an Alphar is only a desperate opposition which will never bring a resolution, but only an ever new sharpening of the struggle of men with an invincible power

It is not a dragon power, as the ancient tribes called it in their childlike perceiving, but it is the power of the manifestation of an invisible and animistically unconscious species of life

However much the intellect may a thousand times suppose that through its cleverness it perhaps becomes the victor for a time, yet if this victory is not at the same time conditioned by a change of men for the better, then it will show itself as a victory only very brief, after which there follows a still greater onslaught from the side of the animistically unconscious species

In this respect mankind is, and will also always be, wholly subjected to the animistic working, however much it wishes through its intellectually scientific arrogance to persuade itself of something else

Never will men step out of the frame which surrounds them and which is strictly subject to the Laws of Creation through the efficacy of the animistic, said otherwise, is subject to the strict effects of the Will of God fulfilling itself upon mankind

The only possible way in which men can approach the mentioned animistic influences is this, that together with a constant self-ennobling in the earthly life there burns in their inner being an inward joyful purity

Inner and outer purity is the only way in which men can rightly set about bringing it to pass that in the end the power of the animistically unconscious brought by the Alphar flows away again

This holds for all forms, whether it be a matter of the mentioned smallest particles of life, or merely of the vibrations of the animistic radiation which bears within itself the message of a needful testing of the resistance of human health

The same also holds when there draw into the human world those animistic species which are called pests, be they of an insect, a plant or an animal kind

Purity is always connected with a simple and straightforward genuineness which is to be reflected in all human doings

Where, on the contrary, complexity and artificiality dwell, or an excessive darkening through evil and impurity, there it is already possible to say beforehand that sooner or later the unconscious animistic will take its turn with its effects, drawing near at the call of some animistic herdsman commissioned for it by the Light

Every such drawing near of the animistic herdsmen brings within itself already beforehand an indication for receptive men that a great happening is being prepared in the times to come

For let us but look

Thus indeed was it precisely one century ago, when the Alphar prepared the ground in mankind for a spiritual opening for the coming time, when there began the task of Parzival as the Son of Man announced by the Light, in his earthly body

The events of the twenties and thirties of the last century announced the time in which mankind was to come to a rebirth

And thus now also a preparation is coming to pass which will require of many men a hastened striving towards an awakening in the spirit

Great forces stream through the universe in order to bring the fulfilment of the Holy Words of promise for the liberation of the human spirit, hitherto fettered by the ponderous intellect in the density of matter

Connected with this is also the sifting of mankind in its spiritual capacities for the further development towards the Light

For this mentioned working, in a certain sense revolutionary, the High animistic servants also now draw near to these places in the world community of Ephesus

Jupiter now rejoices in the nearness of its protector and guardian, the exalted Hermetes

It is a sign of great changes not only on earth, but in the whole system of stars and planets of the near and also of the distant material universe

That which is being prepared has never yet been here

Therefore Hermetes has now come into the nearness of this material part, as the creator of the worlds here commissioned by O-dio-nar

He has work here to which he was called by Parzival, that he might complete it and prepare the channels of the stars for a new flowing of radiation to the earth

Through the nearness of Hermetes there now awaken the long sleeping animistic ones who hitherto slumbered deep in the layers of the patient embrace of Erda

Everything is setting itself in motion, and this will not now come to an end until the Will of God the Father is fulfilled

Through the nearness of Hermetes all that is animistic is strengthened, including such servants as Apollo, Seleine and of course Erda herself

The sun and the planets in this system are coming to life, and in their awakening a higher radiation can now also stream through them from all the animistic administrators assigned to them

The intensified radiation has also joined itself to the Alphar who are present here on earth as the herdsmen of the unconscious animistic life

We can observe it in the ever stronger working of the executing organisms which hearken to them and which they lead towards a swifter materialising of the returning threads of that which was and still is being sown by men

He who is permitted to look into these happenings knows that many strivings of men are a prolonging of the discharging of these forms

If men strove in earnest to avert much of the working of these small forms of life, then in hearkening to the herdsmen they would long since have had to choose other, right paths

These paths are the inner humble acceptance of the happenings which do not arise of themselves, as men for the most part suppose

The acceptance also needs to be rightly grasped, for it does not mean merely a resignedly motionless awaiting of the returning blows in the false conception that this appears to God as the humility which He demands of earthly mankind

Nothing of the sort is demanded of the human spirit, for that would be a strengthening of indolence and of a motionless dullness which is proper only to half-developed animal souls

The human spirit is, however, to work vividly with his inner being and also with his outward strivings towards a successful facing of the incursions of the mentioned animistically unconscious

In the first place it is always and only the purity of the inner volition or thinking as the foundation of success

Also the objective recognising of the happening in progress, without succumbing to fanciful conceptions of the hopelessness of what is being experienced

At the same time there is to be work through the utmost inner and soul movement of man in a pure, that is not in a hostile, attunement for the seeking of effective help in the given state

The threat to their health or to their harvest or to all else men are not to perceive as enmity

Only in the right attunement of the spirit can help then come, according to the kind of threat, from Herfeline or Haetheine, who always know all the ways in which it is possible for the individual man or for the whole of mankind to face the unfolding happening

In order that the right counsels may come, which also swiftly bring healing, the human inner being needs to be set upon the seeking of the all-embracing harmony in the work of Creation

This of itself first requires the acceptance that for some reason a deviation from this harmony had come about beforehand

If men occupy themselves in earnest with the seeking of the causes of the deviation, then the answer will come to them comparatively easily precisely from the Alphar, who as commissioned herdsmen had out of the Higher Will of the Laws of Creation to bring the happenings which mirror within themselves the beginning of the consequences

Quite certainly there will also be found among men someone who will be permitted inwardly to receive the simple explanation of the beginning and thus of the cause of the consequences being experienced

It can be anyone

Even children precisely, if these have preserved purity within themselves, can be the mediators for a supremely simple elucidation of the causes

Literally childlike simple are then those elucidations, which also can often contain within themselves at the same time the counsel for the procedure towards healing

Simple procedures can then bring it to life that all at once the whole host of unconscious life, which appeared invincible, withdraws overnight, or maintains itself only in small, bounded places

Thus precisely can there come the inspiration for the healing or the restoration of all the affected or sick crops or animals

In reading these lines many a man surely asks why it is not so in those times when diseases mow down human lives and many men pray and beseech for the help of God

The answer is simple and, in its possible severity, unyielding

It always holds that the condition for the return of harmony is a childlike pure attunement of the human inner being

Where even by a small particle there burns the impression of injustice in suffering, when that familiar human over-sensitiveness cries out “what have we done to deserve this”, there a full restoration of harmony can never come

The acceptance of the happening in the understanding that something has come which returns as the deviation originally sown by him, burdened many times over, is the foundation for man then to be able to set about the work in the living wish to change it again for the better, if the opportunity be given him

Where, however, even a particle of defiance remains, and the supposition that man knows it better, there the settled hosts of the unconscious animistic will not stir

And if men declare war on them and in the endeavour to drive them out bring their limited intellectual abilities to bear, then only this comes to pass, that the hosts shift in a seeming retreat, but in reality already in that moment further reinforcements flow to them which in a short time make it possible to break out in another place with a still greater power

There thus arises a pushing to and fro of many years which in the end leaves its mark upon the general collapse of the human social world

A disruption will set in which will vanish only with the last breaking of defiance and pride

Only then can the ground be prepared for a new rebirth

These happenings mankind has already been experiencing for millennia, and owing to the limitedness of the intellect, to pride and conceit there have fallen, in senseless battles between man and the animistically unconscious led by the animistic herdsmen, whole cities, nay even empires which shortly before had perhaps stood at the summit of their glory

The collapse always comes, for the question of the victor does not come into consideration otherwise than that this victor will under all circumstances be the animistically unconscious, and hence in consequence the very work of the Alphar, who labour within the Laws of Creation for the maintaining of the great harmony of the work of Creation

If only men would be willing to reflect more upon these things

If only they would strive to free themselves from their own conceptions of importance and exceptionality

But all this seems a vain exertion, and the manifestations of the great struggle on the plane between the animistically unconscious world and men indicate that everything will have to continue today also towards further stages, as has already been the case so many times in human history here on earth

Now, however, there is much more which touches human being

Above all it is the struggle running its course on the personal plane of every one of men

There is here a struggle which at first glance is invisible, but which leads to fundamental consequences in the further being of the human spirit

Today there is here a happening which can be grasped only on the plane of the innermost conscience of human intuitive receptivity

The slightest vibrations of a volition wishing other men good or, on the contrary, evil, the impulses creating blessing or damnation, a caress or a blow in the face, this volition is the lever which opens the gates in the direction upwards or downwards for the further path of the human spirit

The one gate is opened exactly according to the kind of the inner vibration, while the other is at the same time immutably locked

That is the new which is coming to pass and which men do not notice, for they suppose that they can still be free in their wavering in all directions

That, however, has ended, and the Holy Judgment of God already works upon that innermost receptivity of the spiritual life of every one of men, so that it may be proved how far this or that man is really spiritual

If he perceives nothing of what has been mentioned and his volition flutters hither and thither like an unanchored thread, then it is already confirmed in the Law of the Judgment of God that the spirit sleeps, for otherwise he would perceive something of the sort here in the earthly world also

It would indeed be easy for him to perceive of what kind is the good volition so often described by Jesus, and along which paths the darkness creeps

The spirit needs to be sufficiently on guard, for now everything is at stake

The outer happenings are to this only an additionally accompanying occurrence for those who are mobile in their inner being

For even without the need of a confirmation through outer happenings they already now bear within themselves the fullness of peace and peacefulness exactly as these are described in the beatitudes mediated by the Love of God
