Only That Which Is Inwardly Pure Will Endure

THE WAY OF THE GRAIL – SUPPLEMENTARY TEXTS – June 26, 2023

At last it is needful to touch upon a sensitive place which today drains away the forces of a great number of otherwise well-meaning people

This place consists in the unhealthy conceptions and expectations of today, that in this present time of the fulfilment of the Holy Judgment upon earth the Light is granting greater protection to earthmen through some nation, land, race or ethnic group, through some confession, or perhaps also through membership in some community

Unhealthy are the conceptions which lead to the conclusion that there are places on earth, or perhaps even nations, where better conditions of life prevail for the human spirit than in other places

Something of the kind, in this advanced time of the Judgment, is a delusion

A delusion nourished in part by people themselves through their trusting wishes in the endeavour to come through this time, but above all it is the work of those who persistently spread their distorting thoughts about the course of something so mighty, so all-embracing and at the same time so inconceivably living as the fulfilment of all God's promises over this place of life in Ephesus

And alas, many have so far succumbed to it that they spread further, quite thoughtlessly, as an unshakable truth, a conviction of their own which is built solely upon their self-exalting assumption that they know everything better than others

Yet nothing of these expectations and conceptions of such people will be fulfilled

To build upon these erroneous conceptions is to advance in a direction leading to the experiencing of a great shock, and also of a spiritual burden in the threads of fate

Nor is there in it even a grain of real spiritual help to other people

Such activity always tends towards a single fruit, towards a discontented revolutionary spirit, which fans in the inner being of men only greater and greater hostility against those fellow-men whom they do not even know personally

What must arise out of these currents as a necessary consequence may well be known to everyone to whom the knowledge of the Grail Message has come

In the end it leads only to a great hatred in society, and to the disintegration necessarily born of hatred

The consequences of this must then of necessity bring back only great harm of a spiritual as well as of a material kind

Again it may thus be said that people who know the Work In the Light of Truth are preparing disappointment for all the spiritual helpers now standing above the earth, who with a yearning wish desire to lead them as individuals victoriously through this time of the Judgment

Once more precious spiritual power, appointed for the ascent, is diverted into wholly secondary currents of thought by the way in which, with a certain dullness, the outward happenings are gone over again and again, happenings which are the necessary consequence of the present living-out of that basic evil which for thousands of years has ruled over mankind

That evil which, through men, still clings tenaciously to the earth through the predominance of the intellect over the spiritual intuitive perception

Before there can be any speaking of a real change, there must first come the time of the raising of the spirit's intuitive perception above the intellect

That, however, will not come through the taking of lives in some earthly struggle between the people of hostile lands and nations

Any earthly struggle culminating in the destruction of the lives of other people is for all who act thus only an enormous burden upon their path through Creation

It is not easy to redeem the consequences for those who take from souls the right to their earthly life

In the present time it may even be called, for the greater part of those who so act, the final turning-point in their being, when their whole further path must swiftly tend only downwards towards spiritual extinction, for there is no longer time to disentangle themselves from the threads of fate and to rise higher

Whoever raises a weapon against another in the conscious volition to deprive him of his earthly life thereby now sets in jeopardy the further being of his own spirit

Whoever therefore incites others to battle and is himself bound up with it through some kind of his attunement will of necessity be swept by the hands of God's servants into perdition, however much he imagines his battle to be justified, to be perhaps necessary, or even holds this battle for some cause to be a thousand times holy

It is needful only to reflect upon this

All of it is, after all, nothing but the forms of the spirit's decline in its paralysed intuitive perceiving, manifested over and over again by men for thousands of years

These ways bear witness to the suppressed intuitive perception in the inner being of men, and something of the kind can never lead to the attainment of a better world

It is always only the discharging of a certain degree of baseness among spiritually unripe people amongst themselves

And something of the kind will never bring spiritual progress to mankind

Nor will progress come through the zealous extolling of the chosenness of this or that part of the world, in the belief that at this moment it perhaps stands better in certain particulars than other parts

Neither will it come about through the ponderously scientific approach of the intellect, seeking hastily to improve or repair a little of all the already visible damage that has arisen in the world of nature

Already through Jesus the demand of His Father upon the human spirit was uttered, that he should become a fulfiller of the words about the blessed, if he would find peace on earth through God's protection and God's blessing

It is therefore that humility which needs to come alive in man, so that in him the ground may be formed for the reception of the true helps leading to the way out of the present worldwide distress

In the inner being of a luminous spirit an altar of the Light is to blaze, as a place giving birth to peace and to strengthening for other people

However little has essentially changed in this demand from the Light, that is, in the striving for the necessary fundamental change of every human being, since the time of the bringing of the Grail Message, indeed it is demanded today still more sharply, nevertheless many again endeavour to shape their own conceptions of where the light is to be found and where the darkness lies in their understanding of the present world development

But whoever lives in such reflections and in the expectations formed out of them only confirms, alas, that he has not received the Message brought from the heights of the Grail by the Son of Man in such a way as it should long since have been recognised and received above all by the human spirit

The Grail Message was given as a help towards the individual man's own inward transformation, towards the taking of the right direction for the victory of his living spiritual essence over the hitherto prevailing, intellectually rigid thinking and acting

Whoever clings only to the outward forms of social happening, expecting that from this side greater help will come to him than the possibility of an inwardly living intuitive perceiving of the helps out of the Grail offers him, finds himself upon a side-track in regard to the true recognition of the development of the happenings of the present time

And alas, it is once again an expression of a certain weakness of the spirit, which proves that some people still absolutely need firm earthly forms in order to cling to them as to a visible rescue for themselves and for those of like kind near to them

Their spirit itself gropes and knows no counsel without visible supports in outward forms, although it holds in its hands the knowledge from the Light which shows it the direct way upwards to the ascent

That feverish endeavour of people to attach themselves to certain lands in the present social division of the world is a sign of the severance of spiritual perception from the actual present happenings out of the Light

It is a foolish wish and expectation that what has long since been designated by the Light as spiritually dead should point out a living way

Naturally something of the kind does not please the ears of those who have already wholly attached themselves to some current of opinion of the present day, who uphold it with zeal and convince others of it as of the only right way

And it will doubtless call forth still greater unrest if it is now said that at this moment there is no land and no existing ruler of a nation who through his inward ripeness could be the shield of anything truly more enlightened in the spirit of the Grail Message, and thereby bringing something new in the sense of the living happenings belonging to that promised coming of the Kingdom of God

God is bound to no nation on this earth … yet through His angels and animistic servants He is always near to every person who with all his strength strives towards Him in fervent, pure striving for the Light

But where today is a nation of such people, wholly in accord with this condition

There is therefore nowhere such a nation as would fulfil all this in the weighty demand from the Light

Today everything is sunk deep in a spiritual misery shot through with lies, subterfuge, deceit, personal vanity, and above all with material interests, which are clothed in lofty words about the protection of the homeland

All the social happening on earth hitherto still remains stuck fast in the old, and therefore everything must first, amid upheaving circumstances, be wholly born anew within itself in spirit, if it would be saved and thereafter led out of all the stormy reefs onto the firm shore of the new time

Whoever therefore clings to the hitherto old way of understanding the ordering of the world, whether out of his own inward indolence, or because under all circumstances he needs for himself some outward hold upon the existing earthly forms, will suffer shipwreck together with this hitherto thinking and acting of men, which must in the end sink into destruction as worthy of rejection

People, in naive good nature and also in an endeavour to lighten their own intuitive work, have exchanged the true way of rescue, so very important for their own spiritual being and non-being, for a simplified linking of themselves with the outward world happening now in progress, which in the end is only the necessary sequence of events of the announced complete rebirth of the earthly world of men from the old to the new

All that is old must of necessity collapse in this rebirth into the new

Nowhere on earth is that new thing yet to be found on any greater scale, one that already lives and works to a greater extent in accord with the knowledge of the Grail Message, in which the Will of God is imprinted, and therefore there can be no word of any prospect of a land or a nation swinging in the protection of the Light

On the contrary it may be said that, look in whatever direction we will, we find, together with the visible decline, in most places only a deep spiritual sleep

The demand of the Light, however, is on the contrary a complete spiritual awakening and, in the highest liveliness, an alert intuitive striving of all people who are still capable of it

Alas, many have pushed aside this necessary demand, given to mankind as a rescue out of the Will of God

And this only in order to find for themselves a simplified way out of the present state, and to have for their own satisfaction the temporary notion that by attaching themselves to one of the present earthly opposing sides they are going rightly

No land will ever pass into the new time in the form in which it stands today

Just as it holds good that not one single hair on the head of a man who swings wrongly will pass into the promised Kingdom of God

Not a single cell of life, if it remains standing in the old, will pass onward

In their endeavour after simplification many have exchanged the demand of the Light that everything must stand upon wholly new foundations for conceptions of their own, in which they seek to cling to this or that which appears to them as somewhat better and thus more acceptable to them

Yet what they see as better is today not sufficient even in part to be designated as blessed by the Light

It is always only a human standard, which seeks to overlay God's demand for Purity, Love and Justice, a demand which now lays itself as a dividing blade upon the whole of the hitherto human world

Advancing forward, this blade, upon which the false is severed from the true, the unhealthy from the healthy, the impure from the pure and the spiritually lifeless from the living, draws its cut through all human doings on earth

In its advance no human judging of better and worse holds good, but only that which does or does not endure in the intensified radiation of the near Light of God

There is only YES, or NO

The Ray of Parzival, in direct connection with His Father, watches over this now with a multiplied power, which is ever more perceptible to everyone who has not yet fallen wholly asleep in spirit

And in this sense the Ray of Parzival works truly as that unannounced comer who arrives unexpectedly for all, in the time of the still enduring spiritual night

It should lead every single person to the highest watchfulness

An ever more inexorable pressure of the Light now bears upon all thinking and acting of men

The pressure will not yield until all the evil still dwelling here has discharged itself

It is only that people themselves add to it their own conceptions and wishes, in an indefensible endeavour to lower the high demand now laid upon all the life of this earth

Of all that now stands on earth, therefore, no nation, no race and no religion will of necessity endure today as a whole, nor any intellectual endeavour to change men's attitude towards nature and towards the small everyday matters which still create in them the impression that somewhere life is seemingly better, while at home with them it is worse

As a rule all are also convinced that the worse is there where they themselves happen to live

Yet if they lived in another place, then after a time they would again hold some other place on earth to be better

There is no greater delusion than this superficial view of the world

What today is humanly judged as worse and as better grows, in all places on earth, solely and only out of the old, which will not endure

The forms and shapes of the old do indeed differ outwardly, but the foundation is always the same

The Light now demands the highest spiritual movement, which lies in the purity of the swinging of the human spirit as a whole, and not merely under certain conditions shaped by outward circumstances

Everywhere on earth people can, and also ought to, endeavour to strive for their own sake and in order to help the world to become better

The way to this does not lie in the interests of great powers, nor perhaps in the temporary outward conditions of men's lives

The change of the world for the better proceeds today solely from the pure attunement of the inner being of the individual man

It holds good equally for all human spirits that their own fate lies in their own hands alone

From every place it is possible to enter upon the direct path to the gardens of the spirit in the luminous planes, and it holds good just as much that from absolutely every place on earth the spirit can swiftly sink into the depths of perdition

It is therefore needful to lay aside all delusive conceptions and the never-ending preoccupation with them, which always drains away a great part of the daily forces so much needed for true spiritual striving – the preoccupation with endless reflections upon the individual manifestations of the desperate state of the whole world today here on earth

Only that which is inwardly pure and healthy will now endure

The spirit needs to free itself from all that is wrong, from what holds it back, or even leads it away entirely from the right manner of swinging

Accord with the great Harmony of the work of Creation is always to be sought

But where the fervent liveliness in recognising and receiving God's vibrations is lacking in all the volition and acting of men, there everything at once exposes itself through its lifelessness to the danger of being struck by the reciprocal action of the intensified radiation of the Will of God, whereby the inexorable radiation of Parzival enters into its threads of fate, which will judge it

That the human eye sees nothing of this is no reason not to expect it

The intuitive perception, if it is sufficiently living, enables anyone who wishes to perceive it to do so at every moment

That people have driven the intuitive perception out of their lives, that important ability to perceive what takes place on the spiritual plane of the effects of the Laws of God, does not mean that for man's own essence no wholly decisive happenings of fate are unfolding upon his further path

Only that which springs from the purest possible swinging of the spirit, in its shy touching with the intuitive perception of all that offers itself to be perceived before man resolves to will, to think, to speak and to act, is that way which in this time makes it possible to walk forward purely and rightly

And which of the nations acts thus in the highest fervour, which leader bears himself so, or which race or ethnic group as a whole is the more receptive in this, seeing that it always means first and foremost to act according to Jesus' beatitudes, that everyone can easily judge for himself

He will quickly find that nothing of the present striving of men can yet endure as lastingly in accord with the pointers to the beatitudes named by Jesus Christ

Whoever remains hanging upon the old view of the world will perhaps abide further by his judging of what here or there is a little better than the other

Thereby, however, he stands outside the Word of God, for it demands of him something different

God needs neither rulers, nor strong nations, nor a battle waged among men, in order to bring about the fulfilment of His Just Judgment over all life on this earth

He has for this many other helpers, more trustworthy to Him than earthmen acting fickly under the still persisting influence of the intellect

They are the animistic servants, faithful fulfillers of His will, who will bring everything to a victorious outcome, whether with hosts out of many nations or even with single people open to the light

In the present inflow from exalted Valhalla the animistic servants have received forces enough to complete now the work of the Justice of God over mankind

It is coming, and it will soon show itself over the whole earth

In what manner and under what conditions, and how the new time will dawn for him, depends entirely upon the individual man

In this no one can help him but he himself

It is therefore fitting to see the present time of ferment as the fulfilment of the words, when the forces serving the darkness on all sides seek to tear one another to pieces for their own interests

For their own interests, not for the Light and for the glorification of God in the entering upon the true path of pure humanity

Where such a path were in question, it would at once be clearly recognisable that the Light hovers above such a place on earth

The animistic ones would stand by such a place and would protect it with their supra-earthly forces

They cannot, however, work for the benefit of people where these remain in the old ways of acting without at last setting in the highest striving to change something in it

Thus they can stand in protection only over individual people who through their inward attunement deserve it

But even this is other than people picture it to themselves in their simplified thinking

The exalted animistic servants, as true helpers of men, in obedience to God's purpose always pursue the highest goal for the human spirit

This goal is, for every single human spirit, the spiritual home

Not necessarily the victory over all the souls serving the darkness and over their intrigues here on earth

This true victory of God, whole in every respect, goes by other ways than people still suppose

Those who hold the Grail Message in their hands should occupy themselves with it all the more, in order to penetrate into that true knowledge which always works higher than the merely earthly world

Whoever is dependent upon the outward and earthly cannot call himself inwardly spiritually ripe

But that today is the greatest part of all mankind, and thus also the majority of the inhabitants of all nations and lands

No nation is so far raised up as to stand as a whole purely and healthily in its spiritual development

Therefore the protecting hand of the Lord cannot spread itself over it

And the animistic ones too, in the principles of their working, cannot stand in support where there is not in men a sufficient and pure courage for the great uplifting of themselves to God

This too will now show itself ever more swiftly in all places on earth

Whoever therefore truly longs to help the Light on earth in this time will above all lead all who listen to an inward awakening in that which belongs to man as his duty in the work of Creation, in the full use of the intuitive perception

These duties are pure and simple thoughts, directed in fervent wish towards a general, kindly supporting of others in their honest striving for the Light

That is the foundation of all the necessary fulfilment of every single human spirit in the work of Creation

From this flows a responsibility which cannot be transferred to anyone else, nor can this responsibility be renounced as something a man holds to be beyond his strength

As a human spirit he needs to come to terms with it within himself, and through the striving for his own harmonious accord with the whole of the work of Creation to prove his claim to a continuing being in the Light

May everyone find within himself, in the living spark of his spirit, will enough for an expressing of himself out of the intuitive perception alone in all the moments of the day
