On the Way to the Spiritual Home

Before the human spirit, in whose inner being there burns a pure longing for the Light, there opens a prospect upwards towards the spheres, at whose highest attainable place there shines towards him as the goal of his path – the gate of the promise of a joyful entry into the city of golden streets

From thence there breathes the enduring happiness of spiritual fulfilment, which draws continually all those who are pure in heart but who still dwell upon their paths in the distance of the material worlds

Vibrating in its pure spiritual nature, the blue island, with all that is proclaimed of it in its enwreathing with glorious legends, remains that promise of eternal life where all spirits dwell together in the highest interconnectedness in active prayer of thanksgiving to the Creator

The blessed gardens of mature human spirits in the translucent world of Paradise are in their nature in everything different from that which the materialities surrounding man upon the path of his development afford him

Lightness, luminosity, youthfulness, all this promised for ever for eternity is to be found there high above this universe in the sphere of the home of the human spirit

The joyful song of those who are already permitted to dwell there reaches, like a distant sounding of the spheres, to the Earth also, that it may stir the human inner being to a yet deeper longing

It sounds distant, borne across the almost insurmountable worlds which divide the earthly from the happy home, where over everything there pours enduringly the blessing of the Light of God

If, however, the becoming luminous in man attains that glowing through and that radiance which befits the perfection of the human spirit, then the planes of spiritual substantiality become for him also a place where he is permitted enduringly to experience a joyful participation in the work of Creation permeated with all the gifts of the Graciousness of God

Distance no longer forms an obstacle, for in reality it never was an obstacle

In Creation it is not distance that is decisive, but either heterogeneity or, on the contrary, homogeneity

However distant and almost unattainable the prospect from here upwards towards the spiritual home may appear to the spirit dwelling here in the earthly world, through its conditional heterogeneity of purity and translucency as against that which still prevails here upon Earth today, the gate to the spiritual home which mediates his entry is enduringly prepared to receive him

The gate is open, and as soon as through his becoming luminous he himself bears within him the living and all-surmounting power to attain those places, he may pass through it and become one of the glorified spirits who have returned there whence, in the time of their unconsciousness, they went forth to meet experiences for the gaining of maturity and of wisdom

The Laws of Creation make the condition of the homogeneity of purity, which can then with ease bear the spirit upwards into the regions of enduring and joyful harmony

It is precisely inward purity and harmony, issuing out of accord with the supporting disposition of the Laws of Creation, or otherwise the Laws of God, which is the automatically working happening that makes possible the soaring of the soul right up to the places where even the last particle of the coverings of the soul and of the animistic coverings is laid aside, and the brightly radiant spirit may thereupon enter into the promised true home, Paradise, that is, into the place of all the spiritual inhabitants of the work of Creation who have attained maturity

Thus already here upon Earth such a becoming luminous can be attained by the spirit that, although he is anchored by his body in the materialities, he opens the gate into the luminous worlds of the spiritual kind

After the laying aside of the earthly body the luminosity of the spirit will likewise bear him upwards with a swiftness equal to the flash of a moment

Purity and a fully unfolded inwardness in intuitive perceiving will make it possible, within the framework of the Laws of Creation, for the spirit to be borne upwards to the steps before the gates of the promised Paradise

What simplicity and plainness works in all this is hidden from the sight of most men, for a great part of them succumb to thought-conceptions of purgatory, or of the necessity of a promised resurrection of the gross material body, or of the need to dissolve their consciousness in the multiplicity of the universe, and to yet further pictures created by those who have entangled themselves in the erring planes situated around this Earth

Otherwise well-meant counsels also, about the need of preparations for all the planes through which the soul may perhaps have to wander before it will be permitted to stand before the gates of Paradise, do not help the ascent to those places in the least, if there does not at the same time blaze up in man's inner being that victorious and all-embracing longing for the Light

To enter into the spheres which are near to God is therein granted to everyone who inwardly, already here upon Earth, devotes himself wholly to the doing of good to his fellow men in the true spirit of the Words of Christ

In the inwardly purest wish to become a virtuous and joyfully co-creating child of Creation there rests the victorious beginning of the path to the home of the spirit

It asks only perseverance and an ever greater sureness in recognising with his intuitive perception what is pure thinking and acting, everywhere where he finds himself

Perseverance in that which truly sounds in consonance with the whole harmony of the work of Creation, even at the cost of his own diminishing and of the denial of his own wishes, should their fulfilment demand an unhealthy pressure upon his fellow men or upon anything else which otherwise stands in the harmonious flowing of development, that is the condition which in its fulfilment makes the human spirit mature and perfect in his kind

To many men here upon Earth, however, this appears impossible, for they have many wishes of their own, visible and hidden, which they long to fulfil, and which then place themselves as an obstacle in the direct course of the ascent towards the Light

Thereby they come into that state of struggle which is wont to be described as necessary for maturity

The necessity of this struggle, however, is made precisely and solely by those wishes in man

In the accustomed multitude of men's thoughts and wishes, however, it appears to many men a complicated and exacting struggle, indeed it seems perhaps even impossible, and this to such a degree that after a time they again lay aside their already partly awakened striving towards the Light and let the veil of the commonplace and of hopelessness be laid once more over their original uplifting impulses

Instead of all the strength being directed in a simple approach towards that strongest stream which bears the human spirit upwards to that which sounds in consonance with the Light, this strength is in the thought-endeavour of men crumbled away in occupying itself with a multitude of side happenings

These happenings, moreover, work automatically for the human spirit, if only under all circumstances and with the power of good volition he leads his spirit along the simple paths which the hands of the animistic servants prepare for him

All that the spirit needs is the awakening of a childlike simple being, and this in the vibrations of pure volition in everything which surrounds him, which comes to him and which he still needs to overcome upon his path

If in this matter he stands firm with the sureness of his inward assent to the good, then everything is already so disposed for him that he is literally drawn by the shaped threads gradually ever upwards, for his volition clears the way for him like a radiant shield

Out of the attunement to the good there is formed for him ever more distinctly a prospect which in his experiencing brings him impulses towards a higher ennobling and becoming luminous

He is surrounded by helps which offer him in every moment a hand to grasp, if only he is willing to hold to it

Thus he advances through life, and the earthly present lived through by him weaves for him already in advance the forms of the ethereal kind through which it will be granted him to wander, so that he may again come nearer to the goal in the spiritual world

He does not need therein to concentrate upon what parts of the Subsequent Creation will all be opened to him for his ascent, for as soon as he enters this or that part everything is so prepared for him that he feels wholly natural in it

We may compare it with the moment of becoming independent through birth out of the mother's womb at the earthly coming into the world, when the spiritual inner being and also the part of the soul perceive the covering of the earthly body as the most natural part of themselves, which is then to serve throughout the whole earthly life in so close a connection that many men will not even believe that they could have within them yet other components of themselves than just the outward earthly body with its whole arrangement

This earthly body, too, was, however, prepared and shaped for the spirit and for the soul by the hands of the animistic servants, the Alphar, exactly so that man might, without any doubts, regard it throughout his whole earthly life as entirely his own

That from time to time there are men who reject their earthly body because its sex, or perhaps even its appearance, does not suit them arises out of conditions in which, even before birth, the soul had not made clear within itself whether it intuitively perceives itself to be rather of the active and more penetrating or of the finer, passive kind of working

The inward immaturity in the decision plays the reason for this, that there is prepared for the soul that body which, at the time of the joining to the mother's womb, animistic hands begin to weave upon the plane of the astral prototype

If meanwhile the soul ripens to the decision that it wishes to work in the earthly world in yet another way, and perhaps has for this inward reasons of its volition, then nevertheless what has been begun can no longer be undone, and for the whole earthly life there is given to the soul the body which was prepared beforehand according to the original vibrations of its volition

Happily this dividedness in the volition of the soul before birth does not happen so often

And although with the greater influx of incarnations of human spirits upon Earth in the time of the Judgment of God this happening too naturally becomes more frequent, most men regard their earthly body as a welcome possession throughout their whole life here

But let us return to the path of the spirit upwards towards the home in the gardens of enduring happiness in Paradise

At every passing over into a plane above, which happens precisely with an enduring volition for good, everything is prepared for the advance from plane to plane as naturally as is the case with the earthly incarnation of a child

Of course, in the refining and the lightening of its coverings the soul is not always born anew in the same manner as upon Earth

But this happening is ever more dignified, in every respect always more sacred, and at the same time also the most natural, so that upon such a path there is not for a moment any doubt for the one concerned about the loving-kindness and the wisdom which prepares all this and shapes it in advance

We may say that these happenings are a part of a fully conscious participation, and every advance one step upwards is experienced as a festive hour in which everything prepared by the animistic servants comes about in the most natural automatic happening, wherein there is always contained an advance towards a higher ennobling and a becoming luminous of the forms towards an ever higher radiant perfection

This higher perfection of forms and shapes is connected with the manner in which the coverings of the soul are irradiated by the flame of the spirit, which in ever stronger vibrations of joyful participation in the sharing of the harmony of the work of Creation works as an inward glowing light that penetrates through the fine coverings outwards in its expression ever more and more

And all this is intuitively perceived and received with thanks as an influx of gifts to the human spirit upon his path towards home

Not for a moment does there take part in his experiencing any investigating of why this happens and how it happens, for the power of the experiencing of the joy of the moment entirely drives out such a thing, which in reality happens only in the intellectual world of the earthly body

Because here upon Earth the moment of the present is not experienced by the spirit so strongly in that full value which should rightly belong to it, the intellect receives more room, which at once seeks to examine particulars which the spirit does not need, because he receives them with thanks as a natural part of his experiencing

Everything which surrounds him, from the first to the last, the spirit receives naturally just as it is

He does not need therein to investigate and to decipher the components of the happenings, because for him in his simple perceiving things are a gift as a whole, not as parts which he needs again and again to take asunder and to put together

In this taking asunder and putting together there threatens the intellect precisely the danger that it will make a mistake, that a wrong view will be formed, and that this will in the end halt it for the further walking upwards

Yet the Will of God never asked of the human spirit that he should of necessity investigate the particulars of the material world, which was to serve him as a whole as a support for the path upwards

Only out of the whole, which is wisely administered in perfect harmony by the animistic servants consciously born for this above the materialities in Valhalla, can there flow to the spirit in his experiencing a joyful support and strengthening

The spirit does not need therein to penetrate into the complexity of matter, for he may receive it as a gift upon his path towards maturity

Today, however, that needful penetrating into the depth and into the particulars is a part of the knowledge about the work of Creation, but this only because the earthly intellect already did the same beforehand, which, however, in its ignorance took the whole of matter asunder, but is unable to put it together again into the wholeness as it was before

The intellect always wishes to add something of its own to it, so that its skill may glitter, the skill of which it is proud and with which it precisely supposes that it understands everything

That it thereby only sinks the deeper into the swamp of drifting fragmentary knowledge, which beforehand it tore out of the whole of the animistic weaving, cut into pieces and took asunder in the effort to trace the primary particles, in the foolish volition then to explain the beginning of the world according to this knowledge, that it no longer sees itself, because in this attitude it has fulfilled the saying which says that a man cannot see the wood for the trees

Therefore, in order that a helping hand may be offered here upon Earth to the spiritual in man which has gone astray, the path upon the intellectual plane now needs to be set free and rightly established anew, as for many men a necessary starting line for the ascent

For the ascent of the spirit man today needs at least a basic support, so that he may gradually swing himself back to a whole perceiving of the work of Creation as the place of his existence

In reality, however, it never had to be so, nor was it meant to be

The spirit upon Earth in the earthly body was always to hold to co-operation with the animistic working of the servants here, and in the simple raising of his gaze upwards there was to be granted him therewith the prospect of the path leading naturally and clearly to the spiritual home

On the contrary, he would behold around him, already here in gross materiality, the great ethereal and animistic happening, and this would give him a many times greater intimation of the connections concerning his path than the greatest knowledge about the smallest things in gross materiality can afford him

If he did so, he would not have around him so many dangers as he has created for himself through his wrong investigating in matter, and he could simply and easily connect himself with what is most important for him, that is, with how to pass through everything in such a manner that from the side of the animistic servants he receives the immediate helps which are around him

He could live simply and joyfully in a fairy-tale world where neither confusion nor obscurity prevails, but where everything vibrates in a pure and clear distinguishing of the right from the wrong under the direct effect of the Laws of Creation

In this simple attitude the spirit in the earthly body could gain true maturity with great swiftness, for his recognition of the right direction towards the Light would lead him to an ever greater resolve to sound jubilantly in consonance with this rightness and to unite himself wholly with it in every moment

Thereby he would swiftly free himself from all the returning threads arisen out of his first immaturity, when perhaps he did not yet recognise with complete certainty in what places he was causing through his wishes a hindering, or even obstacles, to the whole harmony

He would walk swiftly and free in the full use of his free will, because he would esteem its jewel and in circumspect maturity would always choose only such paths as are supremely pure and in consonance with the whole of the work of Creation

He would not be tormented by those wishes which are born, and endure, out of immaturity and out of unhealthy desires, for his intuitive perception would fully serve him as a sure helm directing the ship of his spirit

Today, however, everything is so entangled and made hard that many a one is even seriously threatened with never again freeing his spirit out of the confusion and obscurity into which he has gradually sunk

Therefore it is also necessary that the path leading upwards towards the Light should be shown in such a manner that in a yet more thorough description everything which takes place around man is shown, so that he may also grasp it rightly with his strengthened intellectual perceiving

Today it does not suffice to tell man that the path to the spiritual home is simple and clear and that he can walk upwards along it with ease

That is because he stands entangled in the particulars which only the intellect in its knowledge of matter accepts as reality, and he no longer recognises that simplicity, even were it to be found all around him

Even if he stood closely surrounded by all the fairy-tale happening which would summon him to take only steps in the right direction in a pure striving towards the Light, and were he assured anew by the voices of the luminous helpers that everything else would come about automatically, because the animistic servants would with love arrange it for him, he would nevertheless, made unsure by his own thoughts, be unable to trust it, and would again and again ask for the assurance and the confirmation that he may believe it, that he is really going rightly

His own thought-disposition cripples him in a fresh advance forward, because even though from time to time he intuitively perceives that everything is clear to him and he grasps that simple ordering of the work of Creation, already the next day, or even an hour later, he does not believe it and racks his brains as to how he could have perceived such a thing, when everything is in reality complicated and forces him into a great struggle with all the dangers which he sees around him in his thoughts

And therefore the Grail Message brought by the Son of Man is in the describing of the individual happenings far more comprehensive, unlike the Word which the Son of God gave to the men of an earlier time

And today it is yet harder and more entangled for the present-day earthman in his thought-absorption in the particulars which pour in upon him every day again and again

The Way of the Grail affords, in the gracious drawing of knowledge from the heights of the Grail, a yet finer description of the fabric of happenings which is around man as the natural manifestations of the threads, and of the forms shaped out of these threads by the hands of the Alphar and of all the other helpers who form the path of his wandering through the Subsequent Creation

It is not, however, as intellectual investigating does it, in order to lead away from the lofty goal which is the spiritual home in the Light, but it is so that anew, in a gradual penetrating into the greatness of the work of Creation, there may unfold in the reader a complete trust drawing upon the certainty that with a pure and enduring volition everyone is always so cared for by automatic happenings that he can be directed nowhere else than upwards towards Paradise

If he goes forward towards the recognition of the descriptions as a complete picture, there will ever more come to life in him the consciousness of the perfect glory of the automatic happenings which work for him and for his path upwards, if only he takes careful heed of the purity of his volition

If he does not himself come to a halt through his own growing lukewarm, or perhaps precisely through clinging to particulars, then it can never happen to him that he should be forsaken and that the path should not be prepared for him through the work of the animistic servants as the most direct connection with Paradise

The recognition of this automatic fulfilling of the Laws of Creation, wherever the spirit may find himself in the Subsequent Creation, and that exactly according to his maturity and his luminosity, brings the strength needed for a courageous stepping forward

It is a refreshing strengthening for all those who wish earnestly to occupy themselves with it, so that there may gradually blaze up in them the complete picture of the work of Creation in the recognition of what simplicity and perfect wholeness in reality prevails in it all, which gives immediate support to everyone who longs for the Light and who in his volition weaves this longing joyfully and purely into all the moments of his life

He who strives for what is pure need have no fear that he would be shortened by the Laws of Creation in anything, even in the smallest thing, or that he would perhaps be forgotten

Everything which he lays through his volition into the threads will with certainty come into his path at the right time, so that he may have it to hand should he need it

If he lays in, without conditions, only what is good, then there will be shaped for him such a path upon which he will be borne upwards as upon the wings of the strongest sylphs of the wind

Rising ever higher he will be borne towards home

His knowledge about the animistic servants, gained as a support, will enable him to hold within himself that trust which he was originally to have contained in his whole trust in God the Father Himself, when Jesus told those who listened not to care overmuch about the self-evident individual things which in any case will not of themselves help them, but through their attention only divert the pure power of their spirit from the right following of the path towards the Light

Therefore He laid His emphasis upon all man's striving to become pure all-embracingly, enduringly in all his thinking and acting, and therein not to become stuck fast in particulars, but with childlike trust to walk enduringly upwards towards the Light

The Son of God described that wishes uttered with pure trust to His Father likewise always reach with certainty the servants, who will bring things about so that no one need be anxious about their being carried out

Thereby He described in simple words the work of the animistic servants, working faithfully within the framework of the Laws of Creation

“Your faith has healed you”, He said literally to those who could again walk, see and live anew in an earthly fully valid life

This held good also in the case of the bringing back of a dead little girl into the earthly world, when He said to the man who fervently begged for help that his trust had formed the way for the fulfilling of the help

Inward purity and trust are thus that reason for the fulfilling of miracles

The spirit needs only to bring to life within himself the inward power springing from trust in the All-Wisdom of God, which directs the worlds

If in this attunement the spirit receives the pictures which are given him for the widening and the refining of his knowledge, so that trust in the work of Creation of God may grow more within him, then he too can gradually return into the state of beholding all around him one great weaving of helping powers which lead him upwards, if only he does not himself create obstacles for them out of himself

In the end he will after all see around him the fairy-tale quality of the worlds which, in proportion to the becoming luminous of his inner being, will bear him upwards towards the spiritual home

Then he will have no more questions, because his spirit will receive it all wholly in joy and in thanks that he is permitted to receive it all as a gift of the Creator for the celebration of his entry into the golden streets of the city in the spiritual home

Let the reader therefore take into himself the consciousness that he does not need to learn the path upwards towards the spiritual worlds in a complicated manner, for it has been prepared for him from the beginning and waits only for his decision to lay all his spiritual will upon the side of the Good and of the Light

That is the lever which decides whether already here upon Earth he bears within himself a homogeneous connection with Paradise so strongly that after the laying aside of his earthly body he will be able at once to stand before the gate to it

It is not, however, to be something that is a solitary stirring of man's inner being

For the filling with the true power of conviction he needs again and again, with every stirring in his inner being and also in his outward acting, to confirm his spiritual maturity, with which he approaches everything that is brought to him through the weaving of the animistic servants to be lived through

Thereby he will free his spirit from all the side appendages which clung to him in his previous wrong understanding of the work of Creation, and will make it possible for the lofty spiritual goal – a trustful striving towards God – to become for him the most important thing, to which he devotes all his powers

Through his acting and his whole approach to life he himself can already here upon Earth come so near to Paradise that he will perceive its glory and its blessedness above all the confusion of the surrounding world of men

May there be as many such men as possible, for they are needed for the entry of the Earth into the new age
