Lawful Development in the Present Happening

For whole millennia there has manifested itself among human spirits upon earth one kind of evil which may simply be called a diseased delusion of grandeur
This evil has already caused much suffering upon earth
And strangely enough there are still many men who suppose that by virtue of their position, of their influence and on the basis of an overwrought expectation of their own importance it is precisely they who in the present time in some way determine the conditions and the development of events for other men upon earth
They suppose it by virtue of the fact that an unfounded notion of their own exceptional standing prevails within them
For every period upon earth enough such men are to be found who live in this mistaken notion that it is precisely the strength of their volition which decides where the further paths of their fellow men will lead
The thinking of such men then always develops in some way into the conviction that they count for something more than their fellow men and that this must be made evident by them to as wide a compass of the world as possible
They consider themselves as those who in their chosenness are to determine for others what is right
And it makes no difference whether this supposition of chosenness is to hold good before men or before God Himself
It is always a delusion of false self-overestimation and self-exaltation
That it is only a delusion these men do not admit to themselves, and therefore in their attitude of supposed exceptional standing they seek to influence other men so that they may accept their notions of the development this world is to take and submit themselves to them
The striving to have influence and to determine the life of as great a number of fellow men as possible, in spite of the consequences it causes, is meanwhile no sign of spiritual greatness, but on the contrary only the consequent manifestation of a defect of the soul covering which surrounds the spiritual spark of man itself, a spark which in itself is indeed pure, but which is too indolent, too lukewarm to prevent the arising of such a delusion in the soul covering
It is recognised by the fact that a man truly pure within needs neither influence and power nor fame, whereas he who carries such a thing as fame and the longing for influence and power in his quickened soul often works day and night to have this volition of his carried through in some way, and also that in it he may in the end be recognised as the best by as great a multitude of men as possible
With such souls strongly glowed through by the wish to stand out, and thus nourished by their own self-overestimation, it is therefore possible to speak quite clearly of the setting in of a defective development in the maturing of the human spiritual spark
They are precisely all those seeds which did indeed go forth from the kindly hands of the sower, but which spoiled in their development, because they admitted into themselves something of the rot pressing in from without, which Lucifer spread in the materialities through his principle of temptation
They are those unhappy souls which did not maintain themselves in the pure swinging of the Light
The answer to why a sign of a defect of the soul may be sought in this lies in the unceasing wish of these men to dominate others, in a certain sense to stand above them and to force upon them their own view of the rightness of things
In such a wish there is meanwhile not seldom hidden a yet somewhat deeper vibration of the soul, namely the volition to become at least in part divine and thereby to bear within oneself a reflection securing for the soul a superiority over others
Suppositions of a certain "divinity in man" are very numerous among men upon earth
It is fitting here to mention that such a thing does not proceed from the very nature of man, but is always only the work of the immaturity of the soul or of a deluded mind
Let us leave aside the naively deluded men who do not even know what they are rightly to picture under the concept of "divinity in man"
These men can in reality free themselves quickly from such notions if only they mature a little further in their understanding of the work of Creation
They need, however, to strive to free themselves as quickly as possible from the influence of such reflections, for they are still threatened with a complete turning aside from the originally blessed development of their spirit
They are threatened with remaining hanging halfway upon a blind path which will not allow them to continue upwards to the Light
These souls therefore need to awaken and in a strong, renewed volition for good to step upwards out of the places of their hitherto confusion of opinion
It is otherwise with the souls driven by their own diseased longing to count for something more than others
Out of such an unhealthily glowed-through soul, and upon earth also in part out of the thought work of the intellect, there arises the grandiose notion of men about themselves and about their superiority
Let us point out again that it can never spring from the spiritual spark itself, for in its foundation it remains a pure spiritual child of Creation
If, however, the pure spiritual spark swings weakly, as was already mentioned above, that is, if it is lukewarm and therefore insufficient in its necessary radiating vibration of life upon the path of development in Subsequent Creation, then false impressions can gradually nest themselves in the soul covering, testifying to an insufficiency of radiation and thus to a wrong development of the basic spark
Therefore we can see in history and in the present many workings of men who at some time began to consider themselves more valuable than others, so that in the end out of their delusion of grandeur there arose as a consequence for the rest of mankind inhuman conditions of life, terror and war
A man's impression of his own grandeur is indeed a sickness of the soul incomprehensible to the Light
Out of the delusion of grandeur of the soul many historical events have already arisen which testify to the pernicious result of forcing the notions of such individuals into the life of other men upon earth
There is already sufficient experience confirming how much evil comes to life when the man bearing this defect within him gains influence over other men and convinces them through his working that he knows everything better than others, indeed that he knows everything best
Precisely such a striving as a rule sooner or later outgrows the personal foundation of a man and grows into an unceasing need to manifest himself before the world, which as a rule is accompanied by a progressive seeking of influence over further fellow men
In the end it always leads to some form of enslavement and dictatorship, even though the beginning of the striving of such grandiose men may perhaps not be meant entirely badly and at the outset may be, for instance, only a dissatisfaction with the existing conditions of life upon earth
The result, however, is always the same whenever the supposition of knowing the best direction for the further way breaks out of the bounds of the human naturalness of intuitively perceiving one's fellow men
In the end it always leads to the destruction of the lives of other men, who perhaps only do not wish to submit voluntarily to this distorted volition
If therefore the delusion of grandeur in a man is not halted soon enough, it then always grows into fearful dimensions of the domination of other men and brings into the world dreadful forms of oppression and war, which like a conflagration seize millions of further souls
The result is then only the devastation of the originally good direction of the threads of fate of countless human souls in Subsequent Creation
Yet precisely the delusion of grandeur in a man admits nothing of this to itself
Therefore we may speak of the actual forms of evil which come upon earth out of the distortion of the soul that is the delusion of grandeur
Such a thing stands in sharp contradiction to the healthy development of the human spirit, who needs always to maintain himself in the healthy state of self-mastery through the virtues
So that men might rightly make this self-mastery their own, they received the best help in the words of the Beatitudes of Jesus and also above all in His simple exhortation to keep the words "Love thy neighbour as thyself"
Wherever, however, the inclination to exalt oneself above others prevails in a man, there these words of Jesus are in the end transgressed
In the carrying out of the wish of such a man unhealthy in soul, his fellow men always lose in value and become only a secondary part of his plans
Thereby such conduct stands against the Wisdom of God, out of which the lawful development of all the inhabitants of the work of Creation is formed
Therefore it may be clearly designated as conduct against God's Laws
It makes no difference whether it be on a small or a great scale, if once the volition to lead outgrows the bounds of a man's own life and begins to intervene in the lives of other men, and if there is not permanently present in it the most fervent striving for accord with the harmony of the work of Creation, then it is a matter of opposition to God, for it is a matter of tyranny
Tyranny in the Laws of Creation we find wherever the conduct of a man, in the endeavour to carry through himself and his notions of life, proceeds without the fervour of an intuitive approach, and thereby degrades the claims of others to something secondary and inferior
Thereby harmony is disturbed, and thereby the seed of opposition to God's Laws is of necessity sown
When this seed of opposition germinates into life, if it is not halted in time, it then ripens lawfully into an unhealthy fruit which must of necessity bring back only harm working in wide effect
In this too lies the explanation of why in this present time also there is so much tension, defiance and malice among men
It is because this age is the time of the harvest of the fruit from all the seeds of opposition sown by men against God's ordaining of the original harmonious development of men
Harmony and its manifesting in life every human spirit can meanwhile clearly recognise
In this recognising, and in ordering oneself accordingly so that harmony among men may be maintained on all the levels of life, lies the maturing and the ascent of human society
Yet there is still a great multitude of such defective souls whose transgressions in what goes against the accord of harmony cry out to heaven
They are here and also in the beyond
God's Laws, which work in the work of Creation, however, under all circumstances lead such deluded ones of necessity towards the impact of the reciprocal experiencing
Nothing in this is changed by the temporary insensitivity of such men towards these vibrations of the weaving, too fine for them, which must become a part of their own threads of fate
Although such an earthman senses nothing, his soul must later strike against its own threads of fate, which will not let it pass further until all that went before has been lived out
Although truly every man, if only he so wills, can clearly recognise that he always acts against the Will of God when with his own volition he intervenes calamitously or even directly criminally in the lives of his fellow men, these men sense nothing of the kind
Their own spiritual spark is too insignificantly flickering a flame for them to sense such a thing
Therefore one speaks of men without intuitive perception
It is nothing other than the confirmation of a desperate condition
At the sight of such creatures it should in the first place awaken pity rather than wrath, for it is always at the cost of the very spiritual nature of such men
Yet neither the working nor the resulting manifestations of such men can ever call forth pity or forgiveness in the Laws of Creation, because upon earth they are the reason for the birth of incredible manifestations of inhumanity
The conduct of these men goes against the Laws of Creation, and thereby it goes against the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit – Imanuel is the Judge and also the executor of retribution for such conduct
Men should recognise and grasp this as soon as possible, for we are in the time when this is to change with a fundamental effect in all the happening, so that it may become clearly perceptible to everyone
Such distortions in men should therefore today be something that is already a thing of the past upon earth
Yet there is still a great number of men who suppose that they have a right to it, or that it is their mission, which will not even be judged by the Creator Himself on account of its evil attendant phenomena, but that their methods will in the end be forgiven for the sake of the result which they regard as a service to a higher cause
These men are convinced that their recognition will surely one day come
There is nothing more foolish than this notion, called forth by their own delusion of thought which springs from the distortion of the soul
It may be called only a turning away from the Light in one's own caricature of deification, which has reached a high degree of morbidity and which therefore can never belong, and does not belong, to a healthy human spirit
Whatever form it may take, we always find in it the manifestation of self-overestimation
Even today it is still possible to find such men who live in this supposition of their own importance and of the value of their influence upon the further development of life upon earth, and they can only be regarded as desperately weak little spiritual sparks, for they are the victims of their own self-overestimation of soul, which cannot develop otherwise than out of a weakness in the radiation of the spiritual spark
As a rule a great part of them also discover it at once when their time comes and they are called away from this plane of the gross material world
Their astonished soul then quickly discovers how all the previous suppositions of its own importance and greatness were childishly ridiculous and in the result had no significance whatever for the world happening
Then in the better case shame quickly follows wherever the soul of such a man is still capable of at least a small degree of inward humility
In the worse case the soul moves lower into the depths, where destruction threatens it ever more and whence it is also not easy to return again to the Light
For all the supposed grandeur it is in reality only a failure of the spiritual spark in its voluntary submission to its own indolence in intuitive sensing
For all the endeavours of such souls to create an impression of strength and of menace, it is therefore possible, from the view of the great development of the work of Creation, to designate it always only as the babbling of small children, instead of that expected importance of their own which they seek to have appear in it
From this view it is therefore also possible to find many endeavours of the men of today, who long to count as great in their influencing of their fellow men in life upon this earth, to be manifestations which in reality disclose the backwardness in maturity of the soul
That, however, holds good in the better cases, that is, when it is perhaps not even a matter of a complete defectiveness and thus a corruption of the soul covering of the human spark
Now, under the pressure of the Light, this too will come to light ever more and more
It will lead to an unappeasable fury of such defective souls incarnated in bodies upon earth
The direction in which we have already for some time found ourselves, with the utmost consistency of the Laws of Creation, is entirely determined by the fact that with consistent care it follows the fulfilment of the Will of the Creator
Human volition in the present time influences only the smallest part of the events which happen as an attendant phenomenon manifesting itself on the part of men, yet under the effect of the direction given by the Wisdom of the Will of God
Every single human spirit above all steers his own ship of life through the threads which are woven out of the vibrations of his spiritual spark
He may also help other men to their awakening, which may be called a grace-filled possibility in the redeeming of his own past threads
The helping of the weaker and of all creatures in need of help is a precious manifestation of human spirituality
This spirituality, however, needs to become mature, and thereby perceptive of what is truly expected of the human spirit by his Creator
To walk in the footsteps which the Wisdom of God shows to the human spirit is a high art, formed out of the highest inward receptivity of man and also above all out of humility and out of claiming for oneself nothing of glory either from God or from men
Only in this does that maintaining of an exalted overview in the present happening of great changes swing
Everyone should guide himself in this by simple trust, as may be seen with all the animistic servants
The moment is here in which the best that slumbers in the inner being of every man is to prove itself, instead of the base and the not good prevailing in him
That men do not find their way in the ferment of what arises here upon earth under the strengthening radiation of the Light has not the least influence upon the continuing fulfilment of the direction which has one single goal – the complete liberation of the human spirit from the influence of the consequences which were formed because the majority of men upon earth allowed themselves all too easily to be deceived by the falseness of the Luciferian temptation and at the same time submitted through their own lukewarmness to a state of spiritual decline
Whoever among men supposes today that he is in some direction significantly determining the further development of events, him his conceit of thought sets up only until the moment when he will of necessity be led to the experiencing of his great error
As spiritual children of Creation in the true sense of the word, we should in this at last awaken inwardly and accept our true share of influence, which is far smaller than we suppose
Over everything there now moves with unyielding certainty the pressure of the Light, which in the animistic working into forms and happenings fulfils the long-ordained commission of the Will of the Creator in all that concerns that great direction of the enlightenment of life upon this earth
The boundary of the human spirit's sphere of action will now narrow ever more in the impact of his volition upon his surroundings
Every man moves in this like a floating particle which can go upwards and downwards according to whether with his decisions he burdens himself or on the contrary frees himself from all weight
What then arises from this for the individual man and forms itself upon his path as the experiencing that awaits him is laid fully into the hands of the animistic servants, who as masters in weaving work everything with the utmost care into the carpet of his life
And this weaving of the threads of fate will also gradually be perceived by men as a necessary part of what they connect with the meaningfulness of their existence
Wherever there is great expectation, the threads will in the end bring disappointment
And conversely, where in inward trustfulness the work is done calmly and patiently with a joyful vibration of the inner being over the smallest particles of progress forward, there in the end the greatest blessing will be able to be bestowed upon the human spirit out of God's hands
Everything is simple, so very simple, that as men we could long since have seen it all and also have guided it rightly in the direction which is truly willed by the Creator
It suffices only to observe rightly
Wherever the self-overestimation of a man is found, there a splitting of all forms of cooperation takes place
Where the supposition of one's own exaltedness prevails, there suspicion prevails, which must always fear the denial of the expected rights and importance
Therefore we see so much division in the places where the highest harmony among men should have been found
We see it precisely in many spiritual movements upon earth, which surely should have been the most visible examples of how the spiritual maturity of men leads automatically, in the Law of the attraction of homogeneity, to the harmony of spiritually advanced men
Wherever, however, some community prevails around otherwise valuable spiritual thoughts, precisely that movement considers itself the highest, the most valuable, and thereby the multitude of those who profess the movement considers itself chosen and entitled to glorification by God before all others
And where such wishes are, there everything similar which likewise lays claim to the privilege of uniqueness is at once suppressed
This must of necessity lead to a tension of forces which, under the pressure of the Light and regardless of the thoughts professed by such communities, leads to schism and in the worse case to irreconcilable enmity
This enmity would meanwhile quickly pass if the awareness of the insignificance of the men involved were to come
Through becoming smaller all those involved would at once gain a share of the blessing out of God's goodness, for at that moment brighter and more blessed threads could be woven into their threads of fate in proportion to the genuineness of their volition, from which joy would flow back to all who were capable of such a thing for their part
So quickly could all struggles and wars upon earth also come to an end, and likewise the frenzy for distinction in the monetary world of trade, where competition is still regarded as the driving engine of progress
All this could change very quickly through a certain willingness of the men working in it, if on the part of everyone a pure wish were laid into it to form with other men that harmony which is expected by the Creator of the humanly spiritual kind precisely as the foundation level for all further building up
And in the lawful development of the present happening this course is ever more strongly enforced by the pressure which comes to the earth out of the near and blinding brightness of the Ray of Parzival
It is therefore the only possible development for all the happening upon earth which men can follow so as not to entangle themselves still further in their own threads of fate, from which only an ever greater wavering and fall would threaten them
The present development in the great happening excludes ever more from the bounds of this part of the work of Creation any conduct of men other than that which unfolds out of the healthy swinging of spiritual intuitive perception
This requires that the spark within be permanently living and alert in its perceiving of itself
The childlikeness of its kind will lead every man to become smaller
Becoming smaller is that following of the discourse of Jesus on the Blessed, in which the Son of God in simple words conveyed to the listening multitude the path of the human spirit leading upwards to God the Father and thereby to the spiritual home in the gardens of the blessed spirits
The man open in his inner being also recognises exactly in what places the manifestation of a man's pure becoming smaller is to be found
Men know the saying: "The wiser one gives way"
Many a one then wages a struggle within himself in thoughts as to whether that giving way is not a sign of cowardice, or only a making of room for the tyrants mentioned
Therefore it often leads even otherwise good men into confusion as to how far this saying is right
Yet it suffices only to find behind these words the true origin of their arising, for a man to grasp them at once
These words mean that a wise man gives way in full trust, so that the Higher Will of God may come as soon as possible to an accelerated decision in the given matter
Where a man in his ability to make himself smaller gives way outwardly before the pettiness and coarseness of a tyrant, this is not to mean, however, that he is to remain inactive within
On the contrary, his inner being is to take refuge wholly, in childlike trust, in the Judgment of God in the given matter
It is not to be an accusing, nor a hidden longing for retribution, but it is to be the simple surrender of what a man is living through into higher hands, while he is prepared to bear everything that may come to him even if it should have for him the consequences of earthly hardships
The purer and clearer the trust, the swifter can then be, on the part of the Holy Spirit, the release of the matter of the rightful conditions arisen among men which from a human view perhaps seem insoluble
Hitherto this could not be brought into effect among men, for the purer men often did not bear within them sufficient trust in God's Just cause, or they sought, even if only to the smallest degree, to influence the result in the given matter for themselves according to their own notions
Therefore there was not in them the needful measure of pure childlikeness springing from the trustfulness of their spiritual spark towards the Justice of God, and that even when they supposed that it was so
Not long ago the conditions upon this earth were also such that, despite a certain goodness of many, the malice of tyrants could cause pain and suffering
This, however, is changing as the Ray of Parzival draws ever nearer to this earth
As thou willest, O man, so shall it be done unto thee
Not according to thy wish and thy notions, but according to the Just fulfilment of the effects of the Holy Will of God
Such is the sound of the resounding vibration which through the hands of the High animistic servants now accompanies this call descending from the Light
That is now the course in which all the further lawful development of the happening upon this earth is contained
