All movement in the work of Creation formed by the Light always describes circles

This movement is given through the transformation of the original direct radiating of the Light in the Divine, which in the moment when it passed through the boundary of the Grail and streamed forth from the gates into the space of the work of Creation at once changed its direct movement into a circling movement

The circling movement of the Light, which from the heights of the Primordial Creation advances further through all the planes of Creation, is thus the foundation of movement for everything that has arisen within the bounds of the work of Creation and has developed, is developing, or is only yet to develop within these bounds

Matter too, quickened by the pressure of the animistic radiation, gains in movement, which is always of itself a circling one

All the particles of matter are circling in their movement, and in this movement they form and combine themselves

Only there, where this life-bringing radiation withdraws, where a slackening of the movement in matter sets in, there the circling movement also ceases and slows, leads to rigidity and finally to the fall into decomposition

This decomposition, after the release of the particles it contained, again calls forth through the attracting power of the homogeneous a new movement of the building particles thus set free, and these subsequently close the circle and return to the starting point of their beginning

Where there is life, there is always to be found in Creation one of the kinds of circling movement which describe the great circles of the cycle

Upon every such great circle we shall moreover always find ever smaller and smaller inner circles, which we may call life, or also circling life, in the way that this life moves and develops

This kind of movement we shall find in all the manifestations of the particles, be it in the materially smallest particles, and also in greater wholes such as planets, stars, galaxies, or in the greatest material wholes which contain within themselves whole universes and world-parts of the Subsequent Creation

This foundation of the recognition of the presence of the circling movement may be taken as the starting point of the working of the forces in all kinds of materialities as well, and thus it may be held as a proven finding also for all research in gross matter

Everything is in movement, for the smallest particles of which matter is composed bear within themselves energy of the spiritual kind in the form of tiny kernels, which are held fast by the enclosing of outer envelopes and through their power create from within outwards a pressure that may be called a certain spiritual charge of force

This charge creates around the particles a field of force of various kinds of manifestation, and in these fields of force the single particles, drawn to one another and joined together, create mutual interactions which again manifest first of all in a circling movement along the courses marked out for them by the fields of force

That the knowledge of earthly science upon the physical, chemical and electrical plane may go further, it needs to accept as the foundation of everything material the spiritual energy as the core out of which everything is built up, through joining and combining, into the resulting forms and shapes which we know as matter in its lawful manifestations

Along the same courses of the circling kind everything around us moves, however little we are able to notice it

Even the movement of light in matter is accompanied by this circling movement

If therefore science speaks of light which spreads through space in a straight direction, then it holds that if at a given moment we were to magnify this movement in its inner happening, we should see that the ray of light is actually only a kind of quickening of the circling movement of the smallest particles, which precisely through their circling, whirling movement create the kind of radiation we call light

A similar picture we may observe in the streaming of water, if beneath the surface of still, calm water a strong current of the lower water were to begin flowing in a certain direction

This water current leads, upon the plane of molecules, atoms and still smaller particles, to a whirling, circling movement which manifests as a rippling forward and subsequently spreads gradually also to the sides in the form of waves following one upon another

The waves again are formed by nothing other than the circling movement of the particles which were set by an outer shock into a higher degree of vibration

This circling interpenetrates at a certain degree, its energy accumulates, and thereby the shock-power of the waves arises

Thus also material light flying through space is a vibrating of the smallest particles in circling movement, and this, like little spheres moving one against another, whirls their movement up to the degree where a certain incandescence arises which we call the phenomenon of light

Here the caution holds that we are not speaking of photons, but of still much smaller particles of matter which are the very foundation of the quark particles, these fine particles being the first that form the electromagnetic forces of movement at the boundary of gross materiality

For man it is not possible to perceive all this, for this circling movement is hidden from the insufficiency of earthly sight and also of all the instruments hitherto which serve the sight of men as aids to sharpen their seeing

The movement of the particles of which the substances of gross matter are composed have within themselves the capacity either to transmit this kind of light-vibration or not

The particles which make it possible to conduct the vibration out of which the light visible to matter arises,

conduct this light always only under the condition that a primary kind of force enters into them which calls forth their movement

This primary movement, this primary shock, arises through the influx of purposefully directed living energy, which as a rule is of the animistic kind, for example in the case of the sun or the flame of a candle, or it is set in movement through the activity of man, in the way he intervenes in the electromagnetic whirling of these smallest particles

Of a closer description of these happenings we shall speak further in separate treatises on energies and substances

If therefore, in observing the flying material light, we managed to see the advance of this force setting the single particles a-quiver, then we should see that even at the tremendous speed of light, which advances forward in the transmission of energy from one particle to another, this movement actually takes place in a circling manner, as it forces its path by setting the smallest particles of matter a-quiver

The condition for this phenomenon is always the presence of the smallest and lightest particles, which let themselves be set in movement by a force that may be called a current, which springs forth from the source as a primary impulse among the particles

The power and intensity of this source then determines the range and the concentration of the streaming particles, where with every concentrated narrowing of the cone the speed in the main current increases and this thereby strengthens in its penetrating power

This penetrating power gains in temperature, and thereby the original fine circling of the particles becomes more violent and sharper and is able to call forth phenomena which finally manifest also in otherwise denser kinds of substance impervious to light, which under gentler conditions absorb this kind of vibration and do not transmit the light further

Thereby the effect of the circling movement of the light-phenomenon of the particles becomes materialised

If, however, the initial force of the movement is more natural, then we find in gross matter a multitude of substantial combinations of particles which are so dense that the fine light-conducting current does not set them in movement, and thereby they appear as heavier, denser matter

Despite this density, however, these substances too bear within themselves a kind of movement which takes place upon the plane of the smallest particles

If we reach for the objects around us and these appear to our earthly sense-perception as solid parts of materials, there is nevertheless always contained in them likewise the movement of an innumerable multitude of particles which upon their plane vibrate one against another in circling movement

The field of force of these particles, formed by the condensed enclosing of the spiritual kernels, creates a pressure and thereby also the field of force of the substances, in which the particles circle and in the smallest forms create one against another a lasting gliding relation, similar to when we should wish to grip several little spheres at once in the palm of the hand

Out of this movement there forms a certain degree of quickening of matter, which thereby at the same time creates warmth, which again through its vibration creates the preconditions for the joining of heterogeneous animistic and ethereal soul-substances with the matter thus made glowing, exactly according to the degree which this matter has attained through its warming, which arises through the strengthening of the circling movement

The increase of movement and thus also the quickening of the circling of the particles then makes possible the important combining upon the plane of radiation with heterogeneous substantiality of the animistic or ethereal kind, which in this way can join itself with matter and quicken it in a higher degree of animation, that is, in a certain independence of being

Thereby there opens a simple view of the connecting bridge which is here from a certain maturity of matter onwards, and which under the hands of the animistic servants forms the possibility of the quickening of matter in the vegetable as well as in the animal origin

Here is the answer to the question how life could appear upon the earth and how this happening came about

This happening is simple, as everything is simple that is formed out of the Light, the key to all development in the materialities being precisely the increase of the circling of the smallest particles

Through their warming there can then come about a degree of radiation permitting the joining of a new, higher degree of quickening than the basic substantiality of matter bears within itself

The attaining of the exact kind of radiation called forth by conditions which for a certain time increased the circling mobility of the particles then opens, precisely in the given moment, the possibility of the joining of the bridge and thereby the forming of a connection with a higher kind of quickening of matter

The seeds of animistic and of spiritual life can then enter into connection with matter

This happening we shall find everywhere where a higher degree of life prevails in the materialities

The condition for the joining of matter with a higher kind of life is the attaining of such a degree of temperature and radiance of matter as will open the connecting bridge for the forming of a new, higher bond between the formed material whole and the heterogeneous kind of life of a finer species

This connection too is again formed by the circling kind of radiation of those particles which may be called a living cord, which binds itself from the finer to the denser and in this direction brings the quickening energy to the substantiality of gross matter

Just as the radiation of material light is conducted by a certain vibration of the particles, so the substantiality of the fine connecting cord makes possible the conducting of a vibration of a higher kind

In man this circling vibration is transmissible upon the plane of intuitive receptivity, which joins itself immediately with the nerves of the bodily covering, and these nerves again conduct in circling movements the intuitive impulses to the places in the brain where these then become more conscious for the daily perceiving of man

Beside the intuitive receptivity a further connecting cord conducts the actual quickening current of warmth, which flows over from the higher degree of radiation into the single coverings, through which it works down into the earthly gross material body, with which, for its quickening, the original spiritual core of man is joined by the cord already mentioned

The said quickening and also the intuitive vibrations from the finer to the coarser again stream in a circling movement, which is however many times swifter than the actual speed of light in matter and therefore forms for the spiritual inner being of man the natural impression of the complete possession of the body

The connection, if it is not in some way disturbed, forms for man the perfectly ideal impression that the physical earthly body is he himself

This is made possible through the living connection by way of the cords, which conduct the impulses from the spirit to the body and back at such a speed that the difference between the two distinct heterogeneous species is not perceptible, joined as they are through the cords in which there proceeds without ceasing the circling movement bearing all the impressions arising upon both sides

Everything in the earthly body of man also unfolds in movements which always describe certain circles of time and of happening

These circles join the single rhythms of the organs, of the blood and of the nervous system into a whole which, in the case of a harmonious attunement, forms for man the state he calls physical and psychical health

In such an attunement man is then fully equipped to stride surely and lightly through all the conditions that unfold around him, bringing to him the outer gross material world, that he may come to know it and learn in it to rule ever more clearly with his ennobled intuitive volition

This state then leads him naturally further, that he may comprehend the space around him and find ways of applying his volition in a pure harmonious attunement, as a creative working in the work of Creation

Out of this striving, and above all out of the result of whether he succeeds in it or not, there then arise for him reciprocal threads which again describe a circuit that upon its wandering gains in power, so as finally to return and to bring blessing or ruin in the necessity of recognising the volition that was sown

In this repeated experiencing there lies hidden again the principle of circling, which brings man upon the path upward an ascent in circles that enable him to climb up to the place which the spirit through his maturity is able to reach

From there the circling returns again for the subsequent redeeming of what was sown and also for the ripening in all the experiences which the one concerned still needs to come to know and to receive from several sides

The experiencing then leads him from the finer planes of materiality back to incarnating into gross matter, so that in an ever more conscious life in the gross material body he may find vistas which will uplift him always higher and higher into the brighter spheres of ethereal materiality

Thus this circling repeats itself continually, and it rests only with the human spirit how he develops in it, how he uses the circling principle so that the part of the circle which raises him upward may be of the greatest possible radius and, conversely, that the opposite part, returning in the reciprocal course of the volition that was sown, may have the smallest possible radius and at the same time be as rich as possible in the depth and intensity of all becoming aware of his own strengths and weaknesses for the further path

The sinking into earthly conditions enables man a strong rebound in the direction upward towards the Light, if indeed he rightly and fully uses this earthly time for the becoming luminous of his spiritual raiment

It is a great gift, lying in the opportunity to gain here on earth a new consciousness which will move the soul in the ethereal world higher than the previous plane from which it approached gross matter, so as to incarnate for its further path of ascent into conditions prepared by the wise Laws of God

Thus for many a man there await upon his earthly path several experiences which bring him opportunities to comprehend and to recognise a stronger striving upward towards the spiritual homeland

That this path pays no regard to the conceptions of men about a graciously unending enjoyment of the pleasures of the earthly world, but that for many a man this part of his circle is that lower part which brings opportunities of a concentrated laying aside of past wrong volition and at the same time offers him the receiving of the recognition of a higher knowledge, if he longs for it, all this is evident, for in this circling path of the spirit there manifests the Love of God, which pursues the high goal that lies in the attaining of the real homeland in the spiritual planes of the work of Creation

Thus the circle descending from the higher, brighter parts of the ethereal worlds is just as blessed as that part of the circle in which the human soul, burdened with much guilt, is permitted to enter the earthly world as a place which is on the contrary at the very summit of its present circle

In all this there is contained the opportunity of a further ascent which will bring the human soul the possibility of soaring higher than was its hitherto degree of maturity and purity upon its path through the Subsequent Creation

It is precisely the path of the development of the human spiritual spark into the whole, ripe degree of a bright self-conscious spirit, to whom the return back into the spiritual planes is then granted, that is the fulfilment of the great circle of the path of ripening of the human spiritual species in the Subsequent Creation

Thus again in everything, in the great as in the small, we may in vigilant observation find the recognition that movement in the work of Creation is driven forward in circles which fulfil themselves in everything, for all the inhabitants and all the happenings in their lawful principles

It is possible to take this recognition as the foundation for one's own path through the Subsequent Creation, for whoever is guided by this principle can always foresee with a clear gaze what consequence will come, exactly according to what is sown as the impulse to movement along the circle

The circle describing the radius of fulfilment turns at a certain place in the finer planes and comes back laden with the law of the multiplying of the harvest of what was sown

Thus we may observe the doings of the men around us and, exactly according to the kind and the power of what they sow, recognise immediately the natural consequence which will come as a lawful happening in Creation

At the same time, however, not only with others but also with ourselves we may have the certainty that our own doings too, from the very moment of their arising, enter upon the path of the circle which after a time will bring the necessary return of the same, so that this may uplift us if it proceeded out of the good, or strike us down if the initial sowing bore within itself ugliness and evil

The Law of the circling movement will always bring back everything that was set in movement by man like a shock-wave in the space of the work of Creation

Nothing is without a reciprocal shock, and every smallest movement in volition and in thinking forms new waves of circling forces which, like living threads, are conducted exactly according to their kind to the places of the finer planes, so as to return from there again to man, to the place where he found himself at the given time

And again these returns of what was willed form a path which is like the circling kind of movement, where the kinds of threads returning to man form for him a great circle along which he either rises upward or moves ever further down into the depths of destruction

Everything is in the hands of man, who however, often in his ignorance of the lawful happenings in the work of Creation, moves through life here on earth or subsequently in other planes between lives like a drifting ship upon a storm-tossed sea

He turns about in circles and, given over to the returning breakers, is not able to recognise the right direction that would bring him a clearer view towards the goal and thereby a greater firmness in his hands for the guiding of the ship's helm

And yet the way out of his straying is always close at hand

The bright star of the Truth, determining the right direction, shines towards him in every moment

If he but raises his gaze upward to the heavens, then he glimpses the greatness and the radiance of all the helps which incline towards him throughout the whole time of his path

The All-Wisdom of God has so ordered everything in Creation that whoever truly seeks is permitted to come to know ever finer degrees of knowledge, and thus equipped he can then with the multiplied power of his spirit force his direction towards a happier prospect, which will come to him as the lawful consequence of his long-sustained volition irradiated with purity

He must not, however, take fright when much still returns to him in circles which will be brought out of the past, so that it may in redeeming be discharged and balanced for the ensuing fullness of peace of his further path

The great circles now bring in quickened measure much that demands the balancing of deeds in the life of every man

He should not look upon what happens to him as a wrong done to him perhaps by fate or by other men, but should face it uprightly with a pure and patient volition for the good, which alone will free him from all evil

With every step forward in a good and pure attunement there flow also to the honestly striving man helps which order for him everything that returns to him and at the same time weave for him the further path in a new, more loving ordering of that which after a certain time will come to him as the happening of the present

All this is woven into the work of Creation as a gift of the Love of God

Men should learn to experience this gift joyfully and to thank their gracious Creator for it
