Now the time has come to speak of the mighty servant of Valhalla, of Hiemdall

This because for those who until now were permitted gradually to come to know the great events in Creation, all that concerns the place of his working and also the significance of his service will now be more comprehensible

Much has already been recognised by men concerning this servant, yet the most important knowledge about him still remains covered over by a veil of mist

The place of his working is the Rampart above the bridges leading to the material communities in the world-parts of the Subsequent Creation

The said bridges, leading to the seven parts of the material spheres, issue from the places where he works, upon the walls of the Rampart

To the view of those who approach, this Rampart emerges out of endless clouds bathed in the luminous rays descending from Valhalla, and it has therefore gained for itself the name “the heavenly castle”

The Rampart is an endless circular wall which is to be found at the lower boundary of the animistic sphere in the Subsequent Creation

It surrounds the whole lower part of the animistic plane and forms a circle which is built, through the working of the volition of Hiemdall, out of immense blocks of stone

The stone Rampart is a part of a plane of an expanse beyond all sight, which we may call the preliminary stage of the gardens of the Aesir – of Asgard

For the right understanding of this lower Rampart, the place of the working of Hiemdall, it is needful to perceive the form of the purely animistic sphere in the Subsequent Work of Creation as circles rising in the manner of a pyramid, in steps, at every step ever more steeply soaring up to the very summit, where there are the white temples of the animistic servants and also the very abode of the highest animistic servant O-dio-nar

The said picture, however, must be allowed to arise before the eyes in a greatness which entirely surpasses the dimensions of all the material thinking of earthman

The parts themselves of the seven material communities hang beneath this vast home of all that is animistic, like fruits beneath the vast crown of an animistic tree

The universes in these parts of the communities are then like tiny inner kernels within the fruit

The vastness of Asgard will for earthly perceiving always remain in a certain incomprehension, for the nature of these gardens will to a certain degree remain permanently far from the spiritual species of man

And this even though man contains within himself, as one of the first coverings, precisely a mantle of the animistic species

When Asgard is spoken of – the gardens of the Aesir, of the noble animistic servants, then for the right understanding it is best to picture to oneself most glorious landscapes beginning at the walls of the Rampart, rising in a gentle ascent ever upwards towards the nebulous clouds stretching on high, through which there descends the radiant light of the highest point of the animistic sphere, bearing within itself an irresistible power of attraction

The visitor who is permitted to step in here in his fine, animistic covering of the spirit is from the first moment enchanted by an immeasurableness of beauty which has no likeness in the earthly world, nor anywhere else in the finer materialities

Upwards, ever onwards, there rise the most manifold forms of a splendour which is joined into a life resembling that which in the earthly world we call nature

In the animistic realm, however, this nature is infinitely more full of worth, in its translucency more perfect, filled with a freshness of an incomprehensible kind

We may say that this splendour is unfetteredly beautiful, in every moment overflowing with the living pulse of harmony, and this from the greatest mountain range down to the smallest little plants and creatures, in one word it is – animistic

The animistic life spreads out upon peace-filled meadows filled with blossoming floods of plants, perfectly attuned to one another in their colours and their forms, among which we find murmuring brooks, to which there come animals of the most manifold harmonious forms that man is able to picture to himself

We may find here all the forms of the animals which ever were on Earth and also in the other world-parts of the material spheres from the beginning of the ages

The sight of the visitor is filled with wonder in the recognising of forms of which here on Earth no one has even an inkling that they belong to the animal world

We find here, in the bliss of moving independently, all the animals which preserved their consciousness and were permitted to return into their starting-point as self-conscious, in order there to work in peace and in harmony with the others, in the waiting for the call to a further happy service

There is here no pursuing nor any mutual destroying, as it is in gross materiality, where the animals in material bodies still follow the pressure of the lowest form of the principle of necessary movement and of healing, which consists often in the mutual pursuing of the species

The consciousness of the animals dwelling here is joined with a certain advancement which here on Earth we do not find

On Earth we still find in the greater part of the animals the principle of fighting and of aggression, and this partly through the fault of mankind, which through its spiritual uplifting should already have irradiated more strongly the world of the materialities and thereby have given also to the animal realm the possibility of a development towards a higher manner of existence in the materialities

This development is laid into all things, and thus the animal world on Earth also has laid within it the prototypes of ways which link on to the preceding development of mankind towards a higher manner of living together

Upon the vast animistic plains we find animals which, however, have already been touched in a certain manner by spiritual love, and these animals, strengthened by a spark of spirituality, are permitted in the gardens of Asgard to meet one another in conscious wisdom, whereby their outward likeness always corresponds to a certain irradiation of the shapes and forms which they bore in their last incarnations into the materialities

Their nature, irradiated by love, was uplifted into the luminosity of the animistic sphere

Here the forms of such animals are always still more beautiful, bearing within themselves yet more harmony and gracefulness, both in the shapes and in the movements of their purely animistic shell

In the vast parts of Asgard there are also groves with sacred animistic temples, out of which the luminous animistic servants work with their helping influence upon the place where precisely the sphere of the still unconscious animistic animal species is to be found, whence there fly forth continually in streams the sparks of the animistically unconscious, pouring down towards the materialities, whereby their nature then joins itself in the materialities with the most manifold degrees of animal bodies

There are here also descending streams which bear within themselves only a sparkless enlivening, working only in the most fundamental principles of life, and these streams join themselves with all the particles of independent life which we find in the smallest forms of insects and of water creatures, which earthly science generally calls invertebrate, cold-blooded creatures

In these streams there is contained only the principle of life itself, which enlivens the earthly form but does not as yet bear within itself the capacity for a higher self-consciousness, and thus, after the exhausting of its time in the earthly union, this stream flows again back upwards in the great cycle of unconsciousness

Only from time to time can there cluster together even in this unconscious streaming more radiation, and thereafter such radiation returns, in the leaving of the earthly form of life, in its progress, as a little spark which is magnetically drawn rather to the reservoir wherein a more conscious life already dwells than to the places where there is the reservoir out of which spring the streams of the sparks of animistically independent radiation, which is the foundation of the enlivening of animal bodies

Thus we may find here, in these parts, which it is still possible to call the lowest gardens of Asgard, certain reservoirs which are like endless oceans of the animistic principle of life, out of which, under the consistent and faithful service of the animistic administrators here, there spring at the right time streams of life for the enlivening of the spheres of the material parts in the Subsequent Work of Creation

A degree higher, in yet more irradiated places, we should then find again further fine gardens of meadowland, whose immeasurableness is again incomprehensible to earthman, and in which are to be found the starting-points of the nebulae wherein there dwells the more conscious animistic, which from there draws near to the materialities for the purpose of a more conscious service, such as we find for example in the working within the plants in nature

Out of these nebulae there loose themselves fine little seeds which descend and sink into the ethereal soil, out of which after some time there sprout flowers bearing within themselves the prototype of the earthly flowers

In these blossoms there are then born the elf children as servants of the noble Siphe and of her helpers

And thus it goes by degrees ever higher, and in every plane, in its lower part, there are places of nebulae where there separates off the ever more conscious animistic for its service in the Subsequent Work of Creation

It may be pictured always as a kind of stepped terraces sloping from above downwards, and whereby in every plane, at its lowest place, there spread out into the breadth the ever more unconscious reservoirs in the form of nebulae, or of oceans, out of which there separate the streams that are driven by the living power issuing from Valhalla towards the places in the materialities where they are to find the fulfilment of their service

These nebulae and oceans fill with their expanse the intermediate stages of the several planes, and at the same time they join these planes in a certain sense and give them union in wholeness

Of course, between the planes there are always also great stretches of meadows, forests and groves, in which there rise blissful ways leading upwards between high mountain ranges, and in like manner as it is here on Earth it is possible to walk in peace upon these paths, whereby the wanderer passing through the gardens of the Aesir need not cross the distance of the planes directly over the said oceans and nebulae

Much more would it be possible to describe of the splendour of the purely animistic plane which is to be found at the summit of the Subsequent Work of Creation

The human spirit is permitted to draw near to these purely animistic places in a certain shyness, always only as a visitor

He may come from two directions

Either from above, as a spiritually mature, self-conscious visitor directed thither upon some mission, sent out from the spiritual planes of the Primordial Work of Creation into this animistic plane of the Subsequent Work of Creation

If he comes from the spiritual planes, then the light-filled gardens of Asgard are always accessible to him in full openness

In the second direction he may then draw near to these planes as a human spark striving from below upwards, which upon its way towards maturity seeks to come ever higher and higher

The spiritual spark advancing from the lowlands, or also the already self-conscious spirit, draws ever closer to the planes where, above the mobile and changing ethereal worlds, there is the firm and enduring degree of the animistic sphere rising into the heights

Thus, if the human spirit longs in his attunement to draw near to this world, if his inner purity fulfils the needful degree of radiance, then he is borne upon the wings of his wish and will attain, sooner or later, the place where from a light-irradiated spot in the ethereal materialities there opens before him the view of an irradiated far-reaching bridge leading into the still more radiant light of the animistic gardens

If Hiemdall permits him, veiled only in the animistic covering, to cross this bridge, then there opens before him the view of the mighty Rampart of white blocks of stone which encircles the lowest part of the animistic plane

At the end of the bridge, opposite each of the bridges, there is a gate which is guarded precisely by Hiemdall, and it is the last part of the bridge, which is joined when the gate opens in kindliness towards the visitor at the command of Hiemdall

Only when the visitor passes through this Rampart, which is the place of the working of the devoted service of Hiemdall, may there spread out before his eyes the view of the blissful meadows and groves of Asgard, whence again there rise into endless heights the steep walls of rock protecting Valhalla itself with the circle of temples where the individual High animistic servants dwell

Let us, however, now return to that Rampart which from the beginning of the existence of Valhalla has counted as the place of the working of the noble Hiemdall

A great trembling passes through everyone who is ever permitted to stand before one of the gates leading further into the distances of the blissful lands, which many of the heroic warriors in the materialities called the eternal hunting grounds and groves overflowing with the riches of magical fruits and of springs bringing a strengthening incomparably greater than are the strongest earthly drinks and foods of sacredness

These gates shine with inaccessibility for everyone who is not in harmony with the qualities which the animistic world of Valhalla acknowledges

Whoever is not courageous within himself, whoever has not within himself the capacity to sacrifice himself in battle for higher values, whoever has not developed in his inner being a heroism of the most noble kind, or does not bear within himself a certain directness of a joyful, pure kind, he can never think that his soul become luminous should enter into these singular places

As we have already mentioned, even before that such a visitor would have to cross one of the bridges which lead from the summits of the world-communities to the seven gates in the Rampart of Hiemdall, which protects the plane of all the high animistic in the Subsequent Work of Creation

This in itself is no easy step, for no one of those who come here with the plea to visit this plane escapes being caught by the keen sight of Hiemdall

Hiemdall rides about upon the walls of the Rampart with his silver team, which is drawn by animals resembling huge white bears, and guards the harmoniously flowing weaving of life in the purely animistic plane of the Subsequent Work of Creation

His draught animals are singular forms for the union of strength, of courage and at the same time of devotion, which they manifest by their vigilance, with which they faithfully guard their beloved lord, the radiant guardian of the animistic Rampart, Hiemdall, and also his service, to which he is devoted with his whole being

No one can pass by these animals without their catching the disposition of his inner being

Woe to him who would be found by them unworthy of entering into the nearness of one of the gates

The animals would fall upon him and for his presumption would hurl him from the bridge far down into the darkest planes of the materialities

The spear of Hiemdall also would stand in the way of everyone who should seek, without the warrant of his purity and of his courage, to press further

In his way there would stand a power which cannot be overcome, for all the spiritual inhabitants ascending from below upwards in the Subsequent Work of Creation are always in a certain manner subordinate to the power and the lawful volition of the High animistic servants

Not that they should be given over to their arbitrary will, as was distorted in the tales of the fallen animistic servants, but precisely for the most faithful fulfilment of the Laws of Creation, which for the said servants of Valhalla are everything

Through these Laws they perceive their service to O-dio-nar and further to the King of the Grail Himself and to His Holy Father of All, who abides for ever in the Light

Precisely this Hiemdall also experiences in his service, the faithful guardian of the lower Rampart of Asgard

Stalwart is his figure, which makes an almost fearsome impression whenever he places himself before one who comes

Upon his head he has a winged helmet which has the form of the head of a great beast of prey

Some maintain that it is the head of a lion, someone maintains that it is the head of a mighty bear, another sees in this helmet the head of an eagle

What animal it is meant to be, however, no one knows with certainty, and thus everyone describes that which he for himself beholds shining upon the head of Hiemdall

Nevertheless there always remains in this caught picture the imprint of a power which until then the soul could not catch so strongly and so clearly, neither in the earthly world nor in the ethereal spheres, as when it stands suddenly face to face with Hiemdall

The spear in the hand of this guardian is always in the highest readiness to strike everyone who draws near, if he does not prove himself with the most genuine purity

The watch of Hiemdall is now yet more firm and unapproachable than ever before, for it was he who in pain was permitted to behold how, together with the fallen Lucifer, a part of the animistic servants departed from the glorious animistic plane, having let themselves be carried away by his allurement

There still resound in Hiemdall the words which accompanied that day when the separation of a part of the animistic came to pass

“Whoever departs in this hour from Valhalla and from Asgard, following the call of Loki, who has become a treacherous and unfaithful servant of the Radiant Father of all, he may never cross back over the glassy bridge leading to the gates of the Rampart”

These were the words of O-dio-nar which accompanied all who yielded to the temptation and let themselves be seduced by the allurement of the divinely animistic radiance of the archangel who had wrenched himself out of his service

“Once the time will come when those who of their own volition passed over out of the Light into the darkness will be struck down entirely, for the protection of their seducer and lord will cease to hold for them”

“Woe unto them, for they will be vanquished in the battle and to their shame will be cast into destruction”

“The Luminous Father will send His Radiant Son, who will bring the cleansing of all life in the distances of the gloomy worlds”

“We shall then stand in our silver armour, together with all the silver-golden spiritual knighthood, at His side”

“Until that time let nothing evil penetrate into the places of our working, which is a refuge for all the weaving pure life that is to be found beneath our home…”

These words Hiemdall bears within himself deeply engraved, because he is the one who protects the purity and the splendour of Asgard and of Valhalla from any penetration of false striving out of the depths of the Subsequent Work of Creation

No one and nothing that should bear even a particle of the said impurity will now cross the bridge nor enter into any of the gates

The noble Hiemdall stands perpetually on watch

Whoever is permitted to know him understands at once what the devotion of service is, in which he stands and guards without weariness the lower Rampart of the animistic plane

Would that men were able to make their own even a little piece of his devoted service to the Light
