If we look up at the sky, then for our perceiving the basic and strongest starting point in the near universe is the star of Apollo – the Sun

Its size, but above all the power of the light and the warmth it radiates, is something very important for life upon Earth, indeed from a certain point of view it is the most important, for without this life-giving light and warmth life upon Earth would not have taken shape as we know it

All this is of course true

In their perceiving of things, however, men forget the nature of the material universe in its very foundation of the forces of arising and of continuance

In this comparison the star of Apollo at once becomes far less conspicuous, indeed it may be called a speck of dust before the vastness of the material universe itself within one world-part

And precisely the gross material universe of the world-part of the materiality of Ephesus, as well as the universes of the other world-parts with their differences and their singularities, were formed under the effect of the skill coming from the hands of Hermetes, the faithful servant of Valhalla, and of the animistic helpers subordinate to him

His work is perfect in so far as the result of the activity of animistic working in the materialities of the Subsequent Creation can be called by this perfection

Matter itself is not, and never will be, perfect in comparison with the spiritual spheres, yet under the working of the animistic servants this matter always follows perfectly the effects of the Laws of Creation as these are adapted by Valhalla to the happenings in the material planes of all the seven world-parts

Perfection we may call all that works as the principles in the happenings of matter, where the primordial eternal laws were adapted by the animistic servants for this peculiar, ponderous part of Creation in such a way that here too, in these distant worlds, the effects of the Laws of God hold good in the same manner as in the planes of the Light

The difference lies only in this, that all the happenings which fulfil the Laws of Creation within them are slowed down in their speed by the density of matter, and above all that the cycle of everything which begins in materiality has, from the sowing to the harvest, threads many times longer, which for their fulfilment must penetrate the density of matter and find the necessary forms for a just reciprocal manifestation

We may say that the perfection of these Laws of God holds good here just as in the whole work of Creation, but here in the materialities the reciprocal effect of all that has been begun penetrates through the radiation of the stars, which are spread out into materiality so as to be the conductors of the running threads that are born in the volition, in the thinking and in the deeds of man, which is then worked by the hands of the Vaenen into the said radiation of the threads

In this too there works from the beginning to the end that wise perfection which in the end gives to all exactly that course of happenings which always comes at the right moment

And precisely all that is made and shaped for this course of happenings by the hands of the animistic servants here in the universe falls under the stewardship of the high servant Hermetes

We may say that in his kind he is the son chosen for this by the mighty O-dio-nar, who works from Valhalla into the worlds of the Subsequent Creation

At the same time, however, he is his first servant sent forth for the creating of the material worlds

Under the guidance of O-dio-nar it was Hermetes who made possible the forming of the basic material particles of the universe and gave to them, together with his brother Hathmes, who is the steward of the sequence of time, the order and the likeness of the basic shapes and forms

Hermetes stands at the beginning of the arising of the universe, and it was his will devoted to God which broke the path for the sinking particles of the materialities from their finest translucent degrees of the ethereal down to the heaviest and densest particles of gross materiality

From this point of view Hermetes therefore stands, for the earthly gross material life upon Earth, higher than Apollo himself, who as the servant sent out by Sirius could draw near to one star which Hermetes first had to form for him through his preceding activity

Without Hermetes there would be nothing material at all in the Subsequent Creation, for it was he who arose out of the volition of O-dio-nar as his son appointed for the material spheres, which at the command of Mercury were to be formed, so that one day they might receive into themselves the sparks of the human spiritual for its development

And Hermetes fulfilled his task fully, down to the last particle

His working stood at the beginning of all creating in the materialities, and he is the shaper of the worlds, to which he gave the forms that the primordially created will of Mercury impressed upon him as the archetype

The skill and the power for creating he received through O-dio-nar and through the primordially created Mercury standing yet above him

And further still: O-dio-nar and the will of Mercury working in him were permitted to bring all this to life only through the influx of the Power that was set apart for them out of the Grail by the All-Wisdom of God the Father

Thus Hermetes bears within him a portion of something high, and he may be called the shaper of the worlds of the materialities

He bears within him a part of the royal greatness that was laid into his working by O-dio-nar, when Hermetes awoke to his consciousness in the circle of Valhalla

The men of ancient times also perceived in his person something peculiarly sovereign, and therefore for a certain time, when he showed himself in their nearness, they called him the creating mighty ruler

Thus they also came to know the star that Hermetes formed for himself in this universe, so as to be here with his wisdom near to all the great happening that was to unroll in this peculiar gross material part of Ephesus

Into his nearness he also set the material planet that was appointed to Erda for her motherly care over the life out of which, after the needful period of development, all that is earthly in the world of men was permitted to arise

The greatness of his planet is the sheltering place of activity of Erda, and therefore it may be said that his planet, which this universe calls the dome, the place of the praising of the Father of all, forms the anchorage of all the inflowing forces for the upholding of this system of stars gathered around the star of Apollo in their midst

It is precisely the planet that many still know today under the name Jupiter, and which is the place whence the animistic forces work in their creating effect for this part of the universe

The neighbouring planet of Hathmes, Saturn, forms an important complement to the dome of Hermetes, in which great happenings take place, for in its kind of substance there is contained a great force and at the same time a mighty movement

The gate into this dome is the eye, which is to be found at the place whence there also gush forth peculiar kinds of forces, bringing, especially for life upon Earth, an echo of the nearness of Mercury himself

Through this gate there pour the blessed forces which beforehand, in the rotating of several layers of the mighty body, had gathered like the energy in an immense dynamo

The forces are of the animistic kind and bear within them the creative power for all kinds of greater and lesser animistic ones, of whom the Dwarfs make the most use of them for the dense work in the matter of the surrounding planets

The Dwarfs working in the interior of the Earth also draw unceasingly the strengthening for their work from the nearness of the dome of Hermetes, which mediates to them for this the strengthening of the sacred streams for the forming of the compounds of the elements and of their peculiar properties, which men call radioactive and which in truth they have never yet rightly understood, for these were given to man for something other than that for which he uses them today

For all this, however, men lack the true understanding, and above all they lack the humility with which alone they would be permitted to receive the knowledge that could be handed to them by the animistic servants, so that human recognition might arrive at the use of forces and energies which, in the right setting, bring a healing power instead of the destructive one of today, which is shaped by the human disrupting of the structures of these elements

The power lies hidden in a process bringing a combining that would bring another kind of bound chaining than men know

For this, however, there is still lacking a part of the real knowledge, which is beyond the reach of the intellectual approach, for in order to grasp the principle of combining it is needful to reach into a certain degree above gross matter and to form the connection for the streaming of forces out of the animistic source, which for human creating here upon Earth is inexhaustible

But for this understanding men need first to know from within the composition of the material formation of the dome of Hermetes, in which there lies hidden the key to the mastering of inexhaustible sources of energy

Knowing from within is not meant in the sense of penetrating in a gross material manner into the interior of the planet, but through the inward vision of men graced with the ability to catch the pictures of the happenings that take place in the fine animistic working of the Dwarfs who administer the matter of this immense planet

If in the coming time one of men attains this opening of the interior of the planet of Hermetes, then mankind will also receive the knowledge of the penetration of those immense bundles of animistic radiation which intersect in its centre and form a radiance many times higher than the radiance of the same kind in the body of the star of Apollo

This radiation penetrates on the finer plane through the centre of the planet of Hermetes, is transmitted to his moons, which circle around it, and through these moons it shoots out into the surrounding space with a power that men are not yet even able to imagine

This power is a quickening influx for creating, and in this respect the dome of Hermetes may be called a kind of living cauldron in which the quickening energies for the surrounding distances of the universe are made and shaped

Of these forces men too would be able to use much for themselves, if on the plane of their animistic coverings they became more receptive to this energy and learned rightly to observe its currents, in which lies the discovery of unending sources of energy

It is a force for the influencing of space and thus for creating with matter, which men today consider unchangeable, although it is in reality exceedingly permeable, much as one may picture a mist which under certain conditions has properties out of which new forms can be shaped, or by which those already existing and having their structure can be changed into new shapes

This knowledge is yet to come, to bring into the cleansed knowledge of mankind new superstructures of recognition, out of which the earthly life of human society will then be able to unroll along wholly new ways which today cannot even be imagined, for the existing forms of thought work like deep ruts, not allowing the intellect to raise itself above the present rigidity and ponderousness of comprehension

It is precisely out of the source of the dome of Hermetes that the high animistic servants here in this section of gross matter will also be able to draw the forces for their newly refreshed activity, which draws near as the Ray of Parzival grows stronger

Thus mankind will return to the degree at which it could still be called pure in the whole of all the human spirits living at the same time upon Earth

This age lay for the last time in the history of the Earth a long while before Atlantis itself

For the last time in this age more than half of men were those who know, and the greater part of men upon Earth at that time also lived truly purely and strove towards the Light

Since that time one can speak only of partial epochs in which among this or that nation a part of its inhabitants awakened in such a way that in the given earthly life they strove together, with purpose, for a high goal of a spiritual kind

Through the long time of history we may say that mankind in its majority never united for a common all-embracing striving to live for the Light and in this striving to help one another unselfishly upon the way of ascent to the spiritual goal, the home of the human spirits in Paradise

In that age great helps from the side of animistic working were then permitted to come to these open and spiritually striving men, and the whole Earth in this open connection with the animistic ones was permitted to draw from their gifts

These gifts set the manner of life in a direction that may indeed be called wholly contrary in comparison with today, whether it be in the use of energies, in the manner of sustenance, in the husbanding of the soil, thus generally in such things as the growing of plants and the keeping of animals, also in dwelling and in the whole shaping of communal life that follows from it

This original direction of purely living men may be described as a stage of development going from the beginning along other ways and thus having a wholly different development of thinking and of conduct in all things

Today we can find nothing of the kind, for if we look into the known history of mankind, however far it goes back into the depth of time, it is always marked by the distortion and the deviation of the human race, which after the downfall of Atlantis lost its direction for all the time that followed, and with it important knowledge

The further epochs of the development of mankind were, in spite of many self-sacrificing helps out of the Light, only a straying and a groping in the darkness

Now we stand at the summit of this unhealthy branch of the manner of life, and our complete severance is therefore the clearest confirmation of the original turning away from pure striving towards the Light

We find ourselves at the end of this blind branch, whose further stage of development is conditioned upon an overturning transformation in a fundamental change of spiritual awakening, or else any further step in the same direction will mean the fall into the abyss of rejection for the whole of earthly mankind

Everything around us confirms it and at the same time calls ever more strongly with a warning voice that either the life of man will become new, spiritually reborn, or else any further continuation will be wholly destroyed by the forces of the animistic servants as the rejection of the old, which may no longer continue in its line of development

Men need urgently to awaken their spiritual inner being, so that through the faculty of intuitive perceiving it may become the ruler over their every volition, for only with this awakening can they enter upon the way of their ascent to the spiritual home

If they do so, then at the same time their receptivity for the animistic working around them will also awaken, for it is the natural progression in the irradiating of the coverings that surround the human spiritual spark

Thereby there will also come a wholly different perceiving of the happenings in the near and in the far universe, for the view of this space of admirable working as merely the observing of silent lifeless matter in its immense extent will fall away

This wrong manner of perceiving will be replaced by a living connection with the animistic weaving that flows unceasingly through the space of the universe, and the single stars and planets will be received by men as the channels of forces in which there is the participation of those animistic servants to whom these planets and constellations belong for stewardship

Thereby also, among other things, men will newly recognise how precious a part the dome of Hermetes plays in this influx of forces

In the course of time, as this recognising grows stronger, a change will come, and precisely the planet belonging to Hermetes will be perceived by those who know, from the standpoint of the animistic influx of forces, as the strongest source in the wide surroundings of the universe

Its part in this is many times more important than the solar disc of Apollo, to which men still today devote great attention

It is also natural that men perceive it so, for the light and the warmth proceeding from it are clearly perceptible in an earthly way

That, however, is only a part of the real nature of the energy of the animistic kind, which bears within it many times more kinds of forces than the outwardly perceptible radiation

The shining disc of Apollo is therefore the bearer of only a certain part of the life-giving energy of the animistic kind

The bearer of all these forces is Hermetes himself, for these forces and energies belong to his sovereign stewardship

In reality Apollo himself, without the presence of the dome of Hermetes, would swiftly lose in his kind of radiation, and soon there would come his collapse and with it the extinction of the sun and of all the surrounding planets

The royal planet of the dome of Hermetes is an important spring of energies in the whole solar system, and not in it alone

Its part is the highest of all the other bodies in the great circuit of this universe

That men do not know it and do not acknowledge it means nothing extraordinary for the order of the flowing of the animistic forces

The animistic servants have long been accustomed to the indifference of men, which follows from their severance from the world of the animistic servants

The dome of Hermetes is important in astrology as well, and this far more than all the astrologers still suppose today

Its radiation, which mediates the forces for a healthy and pure life on the plane of the animistic degree, is fundamental for every creature upon Earth

Of this nothing is known among men today

All this, however, will gradually be changed, and the men of the coming age in their openness will recognise the power of the radiation streaming across this great planet in the nearness of the Earth

It is a matter of course that Apollo too will remain just as important for all life upon Earth and will for ever bear within him grounds for reverence, for the manner in which he fulfils his service here, in this part of the universe

The glow of the light of his star is only a transformed form of the forces, that these may flow on the plane of gross material working towards the Earth and bring here the needful conditions for all the life that is upon Earth

The real gate for the influx of animistic working, however, is and will for ever remain the royal planet of the dome of Hermetes

This planet is the anchorage for the animistic forces, and in its presence here, in the solar system, rests the promise of the quickening movement which from the beginning is exceptional, and this on account of the presence of Erda, who bears upon her gross material body the conditions for the development of human spirits

What a loving kind of creative activity of the animistic kind lies in all this, men have for hundreds of thousands of years been unable to recognise

Through the long time of history men do not recognise the grace resting in the activity of the animistic servants, they do not thank them for it, and thus they are wholly unable to thank the Creator for this helping presence of animistic working

This, however, will gradually change, and the development of the knowledge of the coming generations, if mankind carries through its necessary transformation, will anchor all these recognitions into the life and the thinking of spiritually awakened men as something natural and self-evident

With a new gaze men will then look up to the shining bodies of the stars and planets in the night sky

They will do so because they will at last be able to find in them the channels of the forces so needful for the healthy and pure development of all life upon Earth

Towards the dome of Hermetes too men will look with a certain conscious knowledge of its part

They will know that this place is that animistically sacred channel where at a certain time the animistic servants of this part of the universe gather, and that in the dome of Hermetes, which in its appearance is a distant reflection of Valhalla, they together praise the Father of all and His luminous Son in the shining castle of the Grail, as the giver of Life, who is the true starting point of the Light for the whole work of Creation

This age is yet to come

Yet through its uniting of the human spirit with the animistic servants it will then be that age in which men find all that they have until now been seeking in their earthly life and have had to replace with ancient legends and fairy tales

Through the connection with the animistic servants men will also find, here in the materialities, the true ability to find the Wisdom of God in all the happenings and effects of the forces, for only then will all that become comprehensible and explicable to them before which they still stand today in bewilderment, because much appears to them as seemingly contradictory and mutually cancelling

Only in the right recognition of the working of the animistic servants will men comprehend the wisdom and the greatness of the Laws of God, which bear even into these distant regions of the worlds the Will of God and with it the Justice of God and the Love of God
