Of Astarte, the radiant planet in the near neighbourhood of the earth, we have already mentioned several connections

Yet it was only the most basic that it was possible to bring nearer out of the glorious weaving of the animistic and of the spiritual kind which is bound up with this brightly shining star in the sky

Astarte is a planet in which, among other things, there lies the key to the renewed, pure experiencing of spiritually fulfilled relations between the male and the female race here upon earth

Her task is very important above all for the right working of earthly womanhood, for it is precisely to this that Astarte mediates the important streams of the helping radiation from the heights of Creation

In order that all this may be rightly comprehended and that no inexactitudes may arise here as to how these threads incline through the planes of the great work of Creation, it is good to recall once more the sequence of the weaving of these threads

Their beginning belongs in the very planes of the Primordial Creation, in the planes of the most sublime service of the Pure devotion to the Light, to the Grail

These planes we need to seek high in those places where beneath the mighty, radiant castle of the Grail the several first planes, penetrated by the strongest Light, spread themselves out

In these planes of devoted, primordially eternal animistic and spiritual service there are found islands like unto diamonds, which extend into the far distances of the worlds and offer space to countless beings subject to Parzival, the King of the Holy Grail, in the purest swinging of faithful service to the Light and to God

Here precisely we find in the blissful gardens of the island of Lilies the temple where, among others, the servant Astarte has worked in faithful weaving from the beginning

She is one of the many servants of this glorious place where in fervent prayer the purest streams of the Light sent out from Irmingard for the further planes of the work of Creation are spun and formed

For this service Astarte has at her hand an innumerable host of virtuous helpers who take part in the weaving of the helping radiation towards the further planes in the spiritual worlds of the work of Creation

In their faithful service these primordially spiritual servants incline to the places where somewhat lower further virginally pure places were permitted to form themselves for the anchoring of the streams of radiation which are always appointed for the strengthening of this or that plane of luminous life

Thus one luminous ray of radiant purity descended into the spiritual planes deep beneath the primordially created planes, yet still lying within the spiritual world of the pure created and developed spirits

Quietly it anchored itself upon the summit of one of the heights there, so as to bring hither in its radiation the tidings of the purest Light which dwells at the summit of Creation in the halls of the Grail

Together with this anchoring of the ray the power of the will of the working servants formed immediately thereafter the temple with the gardens, which belongs to the pure service of that womanhood which opens itself in its faithfulness to the rays of purity from Irmingard

The highest servant in this temple is a purely spiritual female being who arose together with the halls of the temple and in whom the ray of the primordially spiritual servant Astarte is wholly sunk

It may be described thus, that she came to consciousness as the living will of the primordially spiritual stream sent out from above, which united itself with the place of the spiritual planes, so that there might be born and formed the vessel of the virginally glorious appearance of the new servant, in whom the ray inclining downwards out of the primordially spiritual power of Astarte fully anchored itself

Thus from the beginning of the forming of these planes of the spiritual kind there dwells in the temple of Purity there, in a spiritual vessel, that servant who is the spiritual mirror of Astarte in the primordially spiritual

The ray of Astarte is permanently anchored in this most glorious spiritual servant and forms the direct connection for the fulfilment of her faithful service

And this Astarte working in the lower spiritual in turn radiates the helping and strengthening radiation to all womanhood striving for the pure fulfilment of its task, in which the connection with the Purity of Irmingard in the Grail fully manifests itself

From thence, from her, besides the other blessing which again, through the hosts of pure servants in their whole faithfulness to the service, pours itself out into the gardens near the white-radiant temple, this radiation inclines downwards and influences the life which is found still lower beneath all that is spiritual in Creation

The radiation reaches also into the planes of the animistic, which in its service stands above all the materialities in the Subsequent Creation

A share of the pure radiation is led into these places of the working of all the animistic appointed for the Subsequent Creation, where as a helping stream it unites itself above Valhalla with the out-radiation of the power which descends directly from the primordially created Mercury

In this union there is something livingly and refreshingly creating

It is precisely the element of femininity which thus descends into the halls of Valhalla, in order to unite itself here with the creating radiation which gave rise to the highest servant of Valhalla, who is Herferide

Herferide stands under the ray of Mercury, for her origin is of the purely animistic kind, and for this purpose too she bears within herself the connection with the female animistic working in the Primordial Creation, where we would find a multitude of servants who weave for the materialities the strengthening radiation out of their purely animistic origin

Above the plane of Valhalla the radiation of Astarte is joined to her animistic kind

This radiation enters into the inner being of Herferide because the animistic in the Subsequent Creation works here for the human spiritual, which is permitted to develop here, and thus even the highest animistic needs to know a part of the vibrations of that service in which the faithful Purity of womanhood in spiritual receiving unfolds

It is so that the weaving of a part of the animistic servants also may bear the helping vibrations of Purity for the human spiritual kind of womanhood in the Subsequent Creation

This stream at the same time helps to set vibrating that little part of the higher spiritually animistic which is found in every pure woman, who is thereby precisely distinguished from the man, for thanks to this spiritually animistic she may open herself more to the streams from the heights as the receiving part of the human spiritual kind

In this opening there lies hidden the power which enables the woman in her pure attunement to unfold the vibration of a finer sensitivity and receptivity for the recognising of that which belongs to the luminous and pure working

And for the support of this little part of the spiritually animistic in the woman the radiation of the spiritual Astarte united itself with the essence of Herferide, whose origin lies in the animistic

At the same time this radiation imprinted itself through Herferide into those animistic helpers who through their working in some kind of service unite themselves more closely with the earthly woman in her human spiritual kind

These high animistic servants awakened to their consciousness solely through Herferide

Thus we always find this radiation in the working of Hestia, of Efredite and in part also of Haetheine, who arose through Herferide, from whom the out-going radiation divided itself into further degrees and sections

They are, like the other servants, in a certain sense daughters of Herferide

Yet this needs to be perceived rather as the natural consequence of the dividing radiation, in which there always remains a part of the personality of the one who stands higher

Herferide stands in her animistically devoted consciousness that she was permitted to separate herself out of the radiation of the descending stream of Mercury, to which, precisely for her sake, there joined itself the radiation of Astarte, which refined this radiation and gave it the expression of something higher than is the beginning in O-dio-nar

Also in those servants who arose out of the will of Herferide there is the radiation which separated itself from her herself, and to it there joined itself also something from further without, from other servants standing above them

It is a picture which will need to be described still further, for in it there lies the foundation of all the creating of the Light in the work of Creation

It is needful only to follow the stream of the radiant power which splits and separates itself and at the same time at certain degrees completes itself again with further parts of radiation, and this then gives the expression and the personality of this or that servant who is therein brought to consciousness

Thus it happens with the animistic in all the parts and sections of Creation

The spiritual also goes the ways of splitting and of separating, yet it holds within itself a certain wholeness which only weakens in the downward direction and in a certain respect becomes impoverished

It may be said that nothing is joined on and composed as with the animistic, although also in the case of the development of the spiritual at its various degrees in Creation complete peculiarities compose themselves into one another, which then manifest themselves as a strengthening enrichment and accentuation of the kinds and of the individuals

Yet we may always rather speak of an influencing through inspiration of a higher kind

With the animistic the picture of the radiation separating and composing itself mutually into itself corresponds better, whereby also in this case from above downwards it is always, just as with the spiritual kind, a matter of a weakening of the power of the radiation and of a certain impoverishment of the expression

But let us return to the servants of Valhalla working out of Herferide

These servants of Valhalla bear within themselves the support of the purity of womanhood, and in their working they also at once bring the strengthening streams for the grace and the chaste purity which, thanks to their influencing, pours itself as a helping and supporting kind of radiation into the nearness of the woman

It is thus an animistic working, and yet even in this purely animistic there is a share of that radiation which strengthens purity in union with Astarte

If we thus look upon the ordering of all the helping threads which incline from the heights of Creation to earthly womanhood, we find only a glorious wisdom which leads it all and thus provides in every place for earthly womanhood a great support for the uniting with the pure streams upon the way through the Subsequent Creation

In union with the radiation of the purity of Astarte we have here Hestia, who thus strengthens towards the pure but also strict fulfilment of domestic happiness, where precisely the woman can be literally a queen whom nothing equals and who can thereby influence much happening

Through the high radiation of the home, anchored in blessing, the woman can through her attunement and her pure supporting strengthen the man in his working upon the outer front in the work with matter

Directly beside Hestia we find Efredite, who weaves the threads inspiring to love between man and woman, and at the same time her kind exhorts the women that every love arising between two people close to one another should be formed upon the foundation of the purest intuitive perceptions, to which belong virginal modesty and that delicacy of intuitive perception which we call the manifestations of the grace of a pure woman

Haetheine, standing a little further away, then leads to earthly womanhood the courage and the strength to maintain these pure ideals within itself under all circumstances, even if this should lead to a great overcoming and to a struggle with all the baseness and impurity which attacks from without through the base volition of unlovely spirits and of their influences

These three servants we may fundamentally comprehend as united with the radiation of Astarte and thus to a certain degree also with Irmingard, for they transmit into their kind of working the support for the unfolding and the protection of Purity, which above all through its swinging belongs in the life of every earthly woman

Thus the planet Astarte unites the radiations leading to the earthly woman and at the same time is again a certain further conducting which helps the working of the animistic servants already mentioned above, which inclines from the heights of Valhalla to the gross materialities of the universe here

Most strongly united with this radiation is Efredite, for as we have already described earlier, she always longs to bring her kind of helping working in the drawing together of man and woman upon the ground of the noblest and purest swinging which men can unfold within themselves in this matter

Her radiation therefore, in drawing near to the earthly world of men, always attunes itself to the homogeneous radiation which descends to earthly womanhood from the spiritual field of working of Astarte

And this uniting comes about, among other places, at the place of the planet Astarte, where there is then woven a new fine radiation of Efredite under the effect of the strengthened radiation of the spiritual kind of Astarte

This then in a fundamental way alters the radiation which in another kind of working goes from Efredite to the earthly purely animistic kind in the animal kingdom

That something permanently uplifting is therein contained also for Efredite herself is comprehensible, for she always bathes in these strengthened rays, in which she finds for herself something extraordinary, for it is a radiation which in its own way surpasses her

Therefore earthly womanhood is many times guilty in that it entirely deafened within itself its perceiving of the pure streams from Astarte, for thereby it also weakened the blessed streams of light for Efredite herself, who was permitted to know these in the times of the earlier ages of a purer womanhood at the beginning of mankind upon earth

With the loveliness proper to her she always rejoiced when her helping and supporting radiation was permitted to draw near to the pure volition of that woman who already bore within herself, through her connection with Astarte, a certain surrounding by a protecting circle of purity for all that drew near to her in the earthly world

Efredite always perceives how her supporting weaving anchors itself in the woman and how it then radiates out from her towards the man, so that the spark of being in love may flare up

If the woman stands within the protecting circle of purity, then this radiation which she sends out in her trembling and in her glory may be filled with a certain rose-coloured hue which joins itself to the purely white protecting circle

These two circles, the white and the rose-coloured, then surround the woman in her radiation as an uplifting attunement which influences her and through which at the same time her whole astral body is set vibrating

If, however, the surrounding protecting radiation of purity, which is expressed by the white light, is insufficiently represented around the woman, then in the joining of the streams from Efredite it comes to an ever stronger colouring of the hue of red, which penetrates to the points of instinct, out of which there shoot rays that go outwards into the surroundings without protection, and therefore any man may attune himself to them who lets himself be excited by this kind of radiation

In the first case the protecting circle of purity works as an ennobling of those red hues of the radiation, whereby it attunes them to a lighter degree, so that they may come again only to the equally pure and ennobled radiation of that counterpart of the man who has become luminous

Efredite joins her radiation to every virginally ripened woman in whom all that is needful for the possible bringing of offspring into materiality has ripened

She cannot do otherwise than join her radiation, for it is her task which she fulfils and which binds her in her service in Valhalla

Out of the essence of her service Efredite is one who knows in these matters, and therefore she can see beforehand in which direction all will most probably unfold further

Pain fills her inner being when she surmises that her strengthening radiation will lead, with some freshly ripened young woman, to an earthliness which manifests itself ever more strongly and which not seldom leads to a lashing up of instinctiveness, in which all that is spiritual in women and in men is then lowered beneath the degree of the animal radiation, which always in itself remains natural upon its animistic plane

The spiritual kind, however, was always to be able to raise this instinct and to join to it the highest beauty of pure being in love, which projects itself into all that unites those two people in all the common moments which they are permitted to experience

The experiencing of beauty in all that surrounds two people and in all that they are permitted to experience together is that which raises itself above the purely animistic instinct manifesting itself with the animals, it directs their intuitive perceptions literally to the heavens

The glowing through of the animistic by the pure spiritual radiation is that which is always to become the sign of the presence of the uplifting anchoring of purity in the woman and also in the man

Under this radiation all stands in protection which may then be called a pure union in being in love

The radiation which is wisely woven between the descending Purity from Astarte and the joined radiation of Efredite is then the pre-condition for the fulfilment of the way which was predestined for the earthly world of men by the Creator as the right fulfilling of the law of life and of its lasting maintenance in the human race

In the out-radiation of the planet Astarte all this is permanently held in readiness, and the streams of radiation which meet here make it possible for earthly womanhood to raise itself ever higher and higher

The greatest works of earthly unfolding in art are hidden in the radiation of the planet Astarte, for she is and always will be the inspiration for the highest unfolding of those human spirits in gross materiality who in spiritual fulfilment may take the impetus for their deeds from the high vibrations of pure being in love

The radiation of this planet leads to the forming of beauty of the highest artistic kind, for in her radiation there lies hidden the uplifting upwards to the heavenly heights for young and for old alike in their seeking of the ideal of life under the vibration of a mutual pure love

Ascent and the soaring towards life are contained in the inflow of power from the planet Astarte, for her union of the refreshing earthly with the spiritual seeking of the highest vibrations of the heavens is a bequest which permanently brings hither into the materialities the opportunity for earthly men to make use of it

This radiation guides the hands of the artists and in the seeking of the ideal of pure beauty it may bring the inspirations for the highest works swinging in the blessing of all that is animistic and spiritual, which may descend to the earth in its primal images to all those who are strengthened by pure being in love

Only one thing can surpass these summits of art brought about by being in love, and that is the whole devotion to the service of the Creator

This giving of oneself wholly into the service of the Creator can then surpass the mentioned works formed out of the blessing of being in love, for in his soaring upwards into the heights of the spiritual worlds such a human spirit, opened to the Light, may then unite himself with the inspirations which swing fully in harmony with the highest conscious service in Creation

It is the entering upon the service to the Light, the service of the faithful fulfilling of the highest harmony in Creation

The longing for the Light finds many ways which are prepared here upon earth for the human spirits

It rests with each individual man alone for which way he decides in the listening to his inner being

If within him as the foundation for all there is preserved purity and the inward strength of spiritual uplifting, then whatever way is chosen by him here upon earth will lead him gradually and lawfully upwards to the luminous planes of the spiritual home
