The most precious thing which brings man blessing is the wakeful expression of the spirit in the moment of the present
Pure nobility of character shown in the present moment is a victorious power surpassing everything else
It is in reality the greatest power which man in his spiritual nature is permitted to wield and which he is also to use here upon Earth whenever he longs to influence in the right manner his own fate and the fates of others towards happiness, towards health and above all upwards towards the Light
In the experiencing of the moment of the present there are woven for man the most important threads, which determine his fate for a long time and can indeed influence in a wholly decisive manner his spiritual path, in whether the spirit will make his way upwards into the luminous parts of Creation or whether he will be forced to descend downwards into the worlds of suffering and of endless hopelessness
How man acts in the present moment is the most fundamental influencing of his path of development
Therein rests the lever directing all the power of the spirit towards those regions to which the threads of his fate will with certainty lead
Direct therefore all your will towards the present moment
Therein rests an immeasurable value for everyone who learns to be guided by it
Jesus already drew the attention of His listeners to this, that they should always be living and definite in the simple sense of the words “yes” and “no” in their acting, just as the Word of the Grail Message exhorts men in the experiencing of the present always to a wakefulness of the spirit in what man does to his fellow men and in how he stands towards the whole of Creation and towards the Creator Himself
It is like the most valuable currency which the human spirit has for the right multiplying, if he learns to stand wakefully with his spirit in the moment of the present
To bring the nobility of his spirit to bear with the purest striving in that most precious hour, that is, in the moment of the present
That is a supremely precious counsel from the Light, which holds good above all the degrees of spiritual knowledge
To pass through all the moments of the day in the purest attitude is the highest fulfilling which man can and shall attain here upon Earth
It is the simplest and yet at the same time the most important thing which benefits the spirit in every aspect of his being, whether here upon Earth or all the more in the finer planes of the materialities of the Subsequent Creation
If he holds to this counsel, his endeavour will surely flourish in all the things which he undertakes with the pure and free endeavour of his inner being
Yet it is precisely the moment of the present which has become the weakest link in the equipment of most men, and this above all of those who otherwise strive very honestly for spiritual values
Lucifer knew well where he had to take effect through the intellectual crippling of the spirit in the bringing to bear of its intuitively perceived volition in life here upon Earth
The halting of the inward spiritual expression in an outward direction is a heavy crippling of actual experiencing
At the moment when the will of the intuitive perception penetrates into the intellect, the thinking part of the brain causes a braking or even a complete diverting of the inner volition of man, which is precious precisely in its pure immediacy
The fallen archangel, as one who knew the course of things in Creation and thereby also the sequence of the expression of the human spirit in matter, knew that by transferring the importance to the thinking stage before the intuitive expression of the spirit he could create an obstacle which would thus settle itself in the intellectual part of the brain
Thereby the influence of that part of the brain was strengthened which should rightly stand only as an intermediary in the course of the intuitively perceived volition, which always penetrates from the spirit, from within outwards
He created upon the path to the visible acting of the spirit in the body a crippling dam in the form of a strengthening of the thinking, intellectual expression of men in the earthly world
Thereby there was formed that predominance of thought which, out of the childlike immediacy of spiritual volition, made an outwardly working cleverness instead of pure wisdom
Cleverness outstripped the purity of intuitive perceiving and became esteemed and thereby alluring for the endeavour of most men
Out of cleverness there swiftly developed cunning, and this bit fast into that human weakness which is vanity
Whoever did not use the cleverness of the intellect remained upon a side track of the earthly world
In the end all men consented to this intellectual development, because it became a necessity for survival in at least partly acceptable conditions
Out of the strengthened intellectual brain there arose the bodily hereditary sin
The fallen seducer could rejoice, for he thereby set in the path of every man a grave obstacle through which it is hard to fight one's way so as to become today outwardly also intuitive and inwardly free, and nevertheless to stand firm before surroundings which without hesitation will use every stumbling in intellectually overstrained reasoning to their own earthly advantage
Lucifer knew well that through the strengthening of the intellect the original intuitively perceived volition of the spirit would be dissolved in the loops of thought, of that spirit which, if it is not already lulled to sleep, always longs for the joyful experiencing of the great harmony
He knew that thereby the original intuitive perception would be weakened and that what finally came to outward expression in man's volition would no longer be sufficiently living and thereby strong enough to gain blessing in the threads of fate woven by the Vaenen
To carry out this plan it sufficed for him to direct the attention of mankind towards the cleverness of the intellect, and to this he added a strengthening of its conceit in its own abilities
Thus easily did Lucifer sever the human spirit from participation in the experiencing of the moment of the present
This plan of his succeeded step by step with the greater part of mankind, for men in their unwakefulness thoughtlessly consented to the deceitfully insinuated supposition that there is no need to attach any seriousness to such a thing as the showing of pure intuitive warmth in dealings with others
Indeed, in a gradual reversal, they began to take it for a naive weakness as against intellectual cunning
It became an object of mockery, and men of the intellect began to look upon sincere acting as naivety
Men began to hide the expressions of intuitive perceiving from others, because in the intellectual world they are taken to be undesirable
Only in art is it here and there generally accepted as possible that in books of great stories, in poems or in songs the higher intuitive perceptions may be given place, but at the same time this at once calls forth the certainty that such a thing is only an unattainable ideal which does not fit the sobriety of the earthly world
Intuitive perceiving in the present is for many men already so remote that in reality they no longer even know how they are to express it
In the end this leads to an almost complete crippling of all expressions of noble acting among men
The loss of nobility of character as an inward need of the spirit for expressing itself in life was an intermediate stage towards the complete tearing down of all restraints upon acting which has become wholly remote from all pure and more sensitive regard for one's fellow men
Instead of nobility of character, baseness and an omnipresent calculation became part of the day, a calculation which looks to what is right from the standpoint of earthly advantage
Thus there entered among men the outward acting now prevailing, which in the end is filled in part either with roughness and coarseness on the one hand or with hypocritical selfishness on the other
That this might nevertheless stand firm before the eye of God, as men say, there developed for it the opinion that man is a sinner who has not in himself sufficient strength without God's help
Men consciously preferred to make of themselves weaklings who profess their hereditary sin, rather than to unfold all their inward striving for the intuitive dominion of the spirit in expressing itself in the moment of the present
Instead of an honest spiritual struggle they take the comfortable path of cunning self-accusation
“After all, we are only human! We are but weak sinners awaiting God's redemption! No one can demand that we should do only good enduringly!”
These are the words of many who have joined in a weakling's self-defence when here and there they feel in their conscience that in some matter they should have acted otherwise than they in fact did
Indeed, for this the churches worked out the instrument of confession and of the forgiveness of sins, provided the man concerned confesses them and at least outwardly repents of what he caused, neglected or wholly destroyed in the now irretrievable moments of a past present
This, however, is only a good soporific drug for all those who wish to go on letting themselves be lulled by something which the human intellect devised and which through the intellect the tempter in fact insinuated to men, something which cannot in the least stand firm in the threads woven by the Vaenen under the pressure of the incorruptible Justice of God
To be purely intuitive and wakeful in spirit in the moment of the present has become the weakest place in human striving
No one really knows what to do about it, because it has become an entirely ingrained habit not to be an intuitive man and to take no care that we should act and decide in every moment according to inner nobility of character
This important moment is a great pain also to all those men who would otherwise wish to strive for something higher in their lives
It has become a grave obstacle over which all stumble today, for all received at their birth into the earthly world, in bodily heredity, the unnaturally developed intellectual instrument of the brain of the present day, and in the weakening of the original healthy path of the expressions of the stirrings of the inner being towards the thoughts they now no longer know with certainty how to form their spiritual intuitive perceptions from within outwards
Blessed are those who walk in this with a certainty springing from their inner spiritual preponderance over the intellectual world
There are, however, very few of them, and moreover they have to contend with the incomprehension and the hostility of the rigid thought-schemes still created by men upon Earth
Out of the stumbling of the others, men less sure of themselves, there arise many blunders which lead to bitterness against oneself and which not seldom also unsettle the initial earnest striving into various outward expressions which then appear to intellectual men as proofs of the sheer folly of dreamers and idealists
At once, too, the wrongness of such striving, which rests upon the pure expression of intuitive perception in the moment of the present, is pointed out, because in the first endeavours of many men it bears the signs of a natural groping and trying, which, however, belongs to every endeavour that we should learn to master the graciously granted earthly instrument of the body
Many men striving for a greater intuitive perceiving in life therefore go only hesitantly, and their experiences wound them severely instead of their feeling strengthened and encouraged in their endeavour
It is like a man who for some reason lost the ability to walk, for instance through sickness or injury, and only after a longer time had this ability return to him
Although he can walk, for some time it will be laborious for him, his gait will be unsteady, and he will not be able to run or to jump at all
All this will come only after a certain time of honest effort and practice
And just so it is with that expressing of man's intuitively perceived volition in the moment of the present
Every beginning effort not seldom leads to failures, but that should not deter the one concerned
The courageous intuitive man advancing joyfully forward should be halted in his endeavour neither by the malicious mockery of the intellectualists nor by a temporary wavering in the way he seeks means of taking up his spiritual attitude towards the most varied moments in life
Many men, however, gradually give up this endeavour, so immensely valuable at its foundation, and therefore never fight their way through to a truly spiritually noble walking through life, to which they would sooner or later have ripened through their striving
They prefer to accept giving up their struggle in the present and transferring it into a merely inner world
Thereby, however, they tear themselves wholly out of the present, which cannot bring them in their experiencing that preciousness which is granted through the weaving of the Vaenen
Thus they become either mere inward dreamers or gloomy brooders over their misfortune upon this Earth
With them the realisation comes most often only after the most precious moment of the present has already become the past
Thereby, however, that most precious part of the fabric of his time here upon Earth is weakened in the threads of such a man
He thus remains without the possibility of drawing in full value upon that influx of strength which is granted to man only for the present
Although such a man is not evil, and often even strives in his thoughts with all his strength for the good, in the most important thing he remains weakened
That is because in his acting and in his expression there is lacking the turning to account of the treasure which rests solely in the experiencing of the moment of the present with a wakeful spirit
Many a one makes it hard for himself merely through a lack of courage, another again excuses his incapacity to act in the present by saying that he is still working upon himself and that he wishes to step into the light of the present when he is mature and ready
All this, however, is only one and the same thing named from many sides with lofty words, in which the preponderance in man over his immediacy is still held only by the braking intellect, or in which a weakness of spiritual will shows itself
If men rightly recognised what value the moment of the present has in their turning to account of this earthly life for their further spiritual ascent, they would devote to it many times more of their strength for the asserting of purity and of good in the moment when this can be bestowed upon other men
At the moment when the spirit truly asserts his intuitive attitude towards another man in the purest, fully valid expression of receptivity, in sharing joy or in fervent compassion with something heavy and painful, there is at once woven by the Vaenen a golden spiritual thread leading high upwards towards the gardens of the spiritual home
It is given by the flash of homogeneity which in that moment can show itself as a proof of the radiance of the flame of the spirit upon his path
Yet any inward experiencing of however lofty a sublimity, in solitude alone, does not bear within it that necessary confirmation which alone is the proof for the vindication of pure spiritual power in relation to the surrounding earthly world, such as is the expression of the inward blazing of the spirit in the moment of the present with other men
However precious every inward flaring up of the spirit in solitude and inwardness may be, it always holds good that upwards towards the gardens of the luminous home the spirit moves with his maturity above all through the experiencing of the moment of the present, when his nobility of character shows itself outwardly in consonance with other men or with the animistic servants, through his attitude in the given experiencing
The moment of the present is therefore a most precious gift which was granted to man by the Wisdom of God for his full use upon his path through the Subsequent Creation for this section of coarse materiality
It is therefore to be wholly grasped and lived through, so that it may bring the blessing contained within it
There rests within it also that secret of the happening coming towards man in the future, for only there, where the Vaenen can weave the threads of the pure wakefulness of the spirit in the individual moments of his existence, only there can the Alphar then weave in return the forms and happenings which will come as the glorious harvest of a right sowing
Every one of men who strives for the purity of his spiritual participation in the moment of the present brings at the same time into this world the uncovering of the path to the real happiness of men
In the intellectuality of today there rests perhaps earthly success and wealth
Never, however, will there be contained in it the blessing which is brought only by the full value of the pure participation of the spirit in all experiences in life
Many men are in reality poor, although earthly they appear rich
Because, however, they do not know how or are not able to pass on their direct inwardness of the pure participation of the spirit in the moment of the present, they are in reality beggars in the view of the threads of the Vaenen and of the Alphar
Their poverty is already now reflected in the threads which must reach them when the time is fulfilled and there returns to them what, in their time of this earthly life, they laid down as the precious currency of their spiritual talents
It will be shown how they succumbed to the machinations of the fallen archangel and how, although they seemed to themselves free and strong, they enduringly succumbed to him, because they were unable to step out of the path of intellectual attunement which he had created
In this attunement, however, they themselves deprived themselves of the most precious thing which the Love of God granted them in that they were permitted to incarnate upon this Earth
They became puppets which did not awaken within themselves the will to intuitive perceiving and to receptivity towards other men and towards nature, and although for the short time of their life they were perhaps successful, threads of the golden kind are nevertheless not woven in their case into the carpet of their fate
They cannot be there, because they closed themselves to them and resisted them through their voluntary submission to a world which today is still for a great part subject to the Luciferian principle that has been set up
They submitted to it voluntarily, because they waged no sufficient struggle against it, a struggle which may be called the struggle of the spiritual inner being for its natural right to experience in every moment of the present joy, purity and harmony with the other co-inhabitants upon this Earth
Only in this striving rests the fulfilment of the meaning of life upon this earthly plane
If the spirit incarnates into an earthly body, it is solely and only so that here, in his experiences, he may give the Vaenen the possibility of weaving threads of joy and of pure creativity
Everything else may be called a needless squandering of earthly time
Great buildings and gigantic plans intended for glory in this earthly world are in reality only monuments recalling the futility and the wretchedness of those who for the sake of their material ends squandered many golden threads which, according to the Will of God, they could and should have carried away from here
The Creator does not ask of man his gigantism, in which he displays his intellectual knowledge of matter, but He expects the experiencing of intuitive fellow-feeling with others and the seeking of ways to live with them in accord and in mutual support for the shaping of an enduring great harmony
If men stood in this as they should, then the animistic servants, for the sake of their striving to fulfil the spiritual task here upon Earth, which rests precisely in the use of intuitive receptivity, would form such works as would many times surpass the human possibilities of work in this gross materiality
Sublime, glorious works holding within themselves a timelessness for millennia would serve man, if he held to his original commission from the Light
It is needful always to hold fast to the capacity for intuitive perceiving in the moment of the present, instead of to the stubborn labour of thinking and intellectual endeavour
In their simplicity men were meant to be more precious than they are today in their supposed supreme knowledge, which they call scientific understanding
They could have had far more gifts from the high animistic servants of Valhalla
They would have been literally showered with blessing which would have brought health and an enduring joy in life
The threads which would be woven out of their purely lived present would be free of suffering and of pain, and the Alphar would thus be permitted to weave only the most beautiful forms for this earthly world as the consequence of the fulfilment of the human mission
The threads of individual men would in part be joined into a whole in which there would be reflected help and support for all who are only learning to be open to the Light in this world of matter
Thus no one would have to stumble over temptations and obstacles, because through the honest struggle of individual men the original snare of the fallen archangel would be overcome and mankind set free
This task still stands before earthly mankind, because no creature in the work of Creation can do it in its stead
Stronger and more mature helpers in the spiritual sense can be sent here, but for them too incarnation into an earthly body marked by hereditary sin means first a struggle and a gradual becoming free
Such spirits are also upon Earth today, and in connection with the Light they must attempt the restoring of the original meaning of the existence of the human spirit here upon Earth
Their accompanying sign will be nobility of character and considerateness, which will fulfil itself in every moment of their lives
Such men are now to be supported in their striving, and their courage is to be followed by the other inwardly awakened men
Only out of these men will that new era of true humanity upon this Earth arise
To these men of open spirit there now also draws near the flying radiance of the Ray of Parzival, in order to support and strengthen them in their striving for the rebirth of intuitive perceiving in the experiencing of the moment of the present
The Vaenen watch with eagerness for every single flash of an expression of intuitive perception bearing within it the promise of a further upsurge of man's spiritual expression
They know that such striving is many times more precious than all the treasures of the earthly world created by however great a dexterity and intellectual skill of men
In the threads woven from the golden strands of the pure creative power of the spirit there rests the promise of liberation for thousands of animistic beings who today must still wear coverings corresponding to the present darkening of the Earth and who would gladly serve in the forms of beautiful creatures more consciously useful to man
In every striving of man to express his inner participation in the moment of the present there rests the transformation of this world into a world surrounded by the blessing of the Light
It is therefore not only work for oneself, which is in any case most blessed for the spirit, but it is also work for this earthly world and for its ascent towards the Light in all the forms of life
It is therefore a far wider scope which every human spirit upon this Earth has within his abilities
He needs only to rouse himself more in this and to bring it to life in every single moment of the day which is given him by the Creator to live through
Whoever already now strives for this with all his strength will one day be gifted with the treasures of the spirit
That is because he turns his talent rightly to account in every respect through his fully valid walking through this earthly existence
All hours are for him a reason for a genuine, joyful expression of nobility of character towards his fellow men and towards the whole world
This already now connects him with the blessed spiritual home in the luminous heights of the work of Creation, which thus becomes for him with every day a nearer and more clearly perceptible goal
Upwards therefore and forward for the attaining of that victory which everyone needs to experience within himself for himself alone
Over every one of the earnestly striving men there spread hands waiting for the possibility of weaving the golden threads of the spirit which lead high into the planes of the Light
He who has grasped this has already prepared within himself all the necessary resolve to be always himself, a noble and receptive servant who goes with joyful lightness to meet all the moments which await him
Nobility of character filled with intuitive perception is now, in this time of turning upon Earth, incomparably more precious than everything else which comes from the intellect
It also leads the spirit to a right and wakeful defence against the evil and the darkness still dwelling here
The intellect is at last to be placed beneath the intuitive perception of the spirit, so that only then may it serve rightly for the true building up upon this Earth
A building up which will bring peace and joy to all creatures and will at the same time be that true glorification of the Creator
