Many men upon earth bear on their ethereal bodies wounds which have been caused by their fellow-men, just as they themselves have in turn caused wounds to many other fellow-men

Out of these wounds there wells forth the important spiritual power which every single man yet needs of necessity for his ascent to the Light

The long-continued unhealed state of these wounds causes an exhaustion which at last leads to the complete collapse and downfall of the spirit

The wounds on the ethereal bodies do not arise only through an outward earthly injury of man, but their arising is always connected with the forming of inner injuries which men cause to one another whenever they harm and attack each other through their inward ill-willing attunement and through evil thoughts

Anger, envy, hatred, mockery, malicious joy and much else which takes place upon a finer plane than the gross material world, all this causes among men grave injuries which cannot be observed outwardly, yet all the more do these stand forth upon the finer psychic coverings of the spirit

Out of their openness the spiritual power then flows away, which weakens and exhausts many souls for centuries in their wandering between repeated earthly lives and the time spent in the beyond

Many of the ties through which men meet with this or that man for experiencing in the present life on earth issue from these original wounds, in which a true forgiveness has not yet come about

The cause of these unhealed wounds lies in the original beginning, when between individual men there came moments in which these were not able to pass purely through the most varied common hours, and thereby occasion was given for the dealing of a wound or even of several wounds

Numberless are such moments in which one man causes harm to another

Deepest are the wounds arisen out of strong intuitive vibrations of an immature wrathfulness, where an attitude leading even to an implacable hatred is swiftly lashed up

Often, however, such an ethereal wound arises also inconspicuously, merely through an initial disagreement or through a differing attitude towards some matter, and if an objective conciliation is not sought, the attitude of two men can at last open into a heavy clash which endures through the whole time of repeated earthly lives

Not seldom they are clashes of opinion of the most varied views upon life and upon the solving of situations, which in the living together of several men almost always arise

Where a man does not master his weaknesses and faults there comes the tearing open of the wounds, when out of a small cause sooner or later the implacability of opposing opinions flares up, and these overflow into the personal plane of mutual ill-will, or in a worse case into open hatred

Thereby there arises something inwardly painfully experienced, and in this painful experiencing there open deep wounds which last for a long time

This, however, is a wrong course, for a differing view upon something with others shall be so experienced by the human spirit that it is gradually overcome and laid aside, healed in the knowledge and the comprehension of a higher survey

For this right course, which may be called a development willed by the Will of God, it is needful to bear within oneself deep inner peace and a pure objectivity towards other men

For every matter there exists a harmonious solution

This, however, demands the inner movement and liveliness of the man who is ever ready to advance forward with his spirit towards a new survey of his knowledge

Where the survey of knowledge is lacking, there comprehension too cannot come about, and without comprehension the wound cannot be made whole and healed

Comprehension can come only through the attaining of wisdom, which is drawn out of the true knowledge of the meaning of the existence of man in Creation

This knowledge shall be experienced in many variations and shall at last be the ground for the becoming luminous of the inner spark of the spirit even to the flame of the mature human degree

And precisely only and solely the true comprehension of the connections concerning life, the comprehension of the diversity in the maturities of men and of much else, leads to that degree which we may call an actual inner forgiveness

Forgiveness is in reality the most important thing with which the human spirit can rule in all his relations with other men, and he should therefore always be on guard lest in unwatchfulness he overstep the boundary beyond which there is further woven an unfree tie leading to the halting of the spirit upon his further way, precisely through the inability to forgive

Unforgiveness is a fettering which halts the spirit upon his way

The liberation for which the inner being of man longs demands, through the experiencing of forgiveness, the subsequent laying aside of the threads, which through their loosening first offers an advance in maturity, and thereby the healing of the wound comes to pass

It must, however, be a true forgiveness welling up out of the higher knowledge of the meaning of the spiritual way of man, and out of the great love towards one's neighbour formed from this knowledge, not a forgiveness which is a manifestation of indifference or of sloth of the spirit

Therein lies a great difference, because the first brings liberation and ascent, the second, however, sooner or later will bring only the repetition of the same experiencing

It is therefore very important that hand in hand with forgiveness there should also go the knowledge of the true meaning of life, which brings to the spirit progress and ascent towards maturity and wisdom

The present world of men, however, knows not even the knowledge of the meaning of life, and still less does it bear within itself the ability to forgive others

Therefore it is possible to behold among men unsurveyable threads drawing between individuals and also between lands and peoples

These entangled threads quicken again and again the old wounds, in which the power so greatly needed for a harmonious and joyful life is lost

Out of these wounds many at last fall sick not only in the soul body, but at last also in the earthly body, which thereafter is tossed about in incurability, although it would be easy to join to the given illness, through forgiveness, the radiation of the exalted servant Herfeline, and the healing would come shortly, like unto a wonder

Forgiveness is the key to the healing of many, yet it must be a forgiveness going forth from the inner being of man, without the remainder of a single particle of bitterness

Neither can this forgiveness be replaced by the willing of intellectual thoughts, but it, in order to have the power of healing and therewith of recovery, must well up solely out of the deepest inner being of man, and this again is possible only if he has first comprehended and experienced the higher meaning of life

The forgiveness of the faults of others is possible for man to attain only through his own advance in maturity

Neither does forgiveness mean perhaps to disregard the atoning of faults, for every fault shall, so far as possible, be objectively adjusted and made good if it is in any way possible

Even if it were to be but symbolic, such an endeavour shall always spring from the inward longing for the making good of the fault

Many of the wounds caused cannot, however, be adjusted otherwise than that the one injured first forgives him who caused the pain or the harm, and only thereafter are ways sought for the outward making good

If it is willed to attain the outward adjustment of the fault in advance of forgiveness, then well-nigh always the bitterness contained in the inner being of man leaves the psychic wound further open, and it does not heal

Both are then bound to one another, he who caused the harm as well as he who is harmed

Neither of them can bring the healing of the wound, and it remains ever open until in at least one of the two men there comes about an inner advance and therewith a liberation from the binding threads

Even if an outward atonement were to follow upon the fault, so long as forgiveness does not pass through the inner being nothing is untied and the wound endures

Entangled and knotted are the nets drawing between men in their experiencing, and it is not easy to free oneself from them

Nevertheless man needs to make a beginning with it, if he would free himself inwardly and outwardly

He must step forth to meet all that lies before him, in order to find towards it a new relation built upon the knowledge of the true meaning of existence

This means that he needs to know with his spirit why he exists at all and what meaning all this has

Only together with this knowledge can there come to him the power, in wisdom and in inward endowment, truly to forgive other men their doings

If he does not ascend to this degree, then bitterness will return to him again and again

Precisely through this bitterness felt towards someone he can also recognise that the threads have not yet fallen away and that the wound endures

This everyone can test for himself if only he honestly wills to judge his relations with other men

Neither will the endeavour to paint it all over with another hue avail anything, for in the depth of the inner being it will remain

Nor is the endeavour after arrogance above one's fellow-men a true liberation, but it is only pride which for a short while merely temporarily overtops the bitterness

Arrogance and pride above others will, however, never truly heal the wound upon the soul

It will after all at last return and will burn with multiplied strength

True forgiveness can come only in the liberating knowledge which brings a true maturity and greatness of the spirit

Jesus spoke of the need to forgive others, because upon beholding the soil of the men of that time He was horrified at how many painful threads are to be found among men one with another

He was horrified when He saw how very little time men have before the Judgment of God comes, which will demand that men at that time be loosed from all binding threads with others

He wished to help them, and therefore He bestowed upon them all the Words leading to the forgiving of others

He spoke of it in the beatitudes and pointed out that no one shall wait for the other to begin with it, but that man shall not hesitate for a moment and shall begin with the liberating forgiving of other men within his inner being

Men, however, comprehended well-nigh nothing of it, and the present world stands in much worse case yet than the men of that day

Only here and there do we find honourable exceptions who act according to His Words

He therefore who strives for the true liberation of his spirit, he needs without delay to step forth upon the way of inner greatness

Without the knowledge of the connections this is, however, not fully possible, for all too easily does man then become mired in secondary aims in his striving in life

However much he gives to these aims exalted words and endeavours to display them as a great content of life for those near to him, for his people, or even for God, there will always at last come a clash with others who are of another view, and thereby new wounds arise

This, however, means that here there is not the actual maturity and greatness of enlightenment which should be here and should work as a refreshing and helping stream for all fellow-men

Everywhere, wherever we look about us, we have here throngs of those who are convinced that they have the abilities to lead others to a better life

If, however, we look more attentively, we can see how their soul bodies are strewn with wounds which bear witness of immaturity, for their unwillingness to forgive others is a distinct picture of the immaturity of their inner being

Thereby the entering upon the true way under the guidance of such men is excluded, because they themselves are unfree in their inner being

Only ever new misfortunes in the present time, greatly strengthened by the approaching Ray of Parzival, can arise out of the doings of men who are not truly mature and free

If, however, anyone sees all this about him, he will gradually discover that neither is he himself better than others, and that therefore the most important thing before him is his own work upon himself

If he steps forth honourably to meet all that lies before him in the laying aside of his weaknesses and immaturities, then his inner wounds will begin to heal and he can help others more and more

Walking with trust in the help and the strengthening of God, he can then heal himself and through his manner of life show to others the way leading to deliverance, to spiritual exaltation, to the Light

Mankind today stands as upon the edge of a knife, for the Ray of Parzival brings the announced sifting of the mature from the immature, of the pure from the impure

He who does not seek with all his strength the ways to be able to bear within his inner being harmony and equanimity towards other men and towards the whole world, he will with the greatest certainty become a part of the great vortex of events, in whose turnings all will be subjected to the harsh pressure of the destroying working of Hareiars

This vortex will draw into itself everyone who does not stand truly purely and freely in life

We can already observe it everywhere about us, it suffices only to look around

The threads drawing from the wounds of one man to another are now tautening under the heightening of the pressure in the working of Hareiars, and they demand either a hastened complete laying aside in forgiveness, or else these threads will draw yet tighter, even to the degree which grips all in the strength of unending painful experiencing

There is nothing which would remain between the two in the middle and leave man in peacefulness, as it was hitherto for long millennia

All this is the past, and the present happening brings a great change in the demand for the settling of one's faults and of one's immaturity

Before everyone there now stands the earnest question concerning the forgiveness of man towards his fellow-men

The threads tremble in their tautening and press urgently: “man, decide thyself”

“Either a living will to change for the better, to liberation and to healing, or the indifferent leaving of the threads to their course, to their drawing tight about the soul of man, even to its destruction”

“Either there is here the prospect of a continuing of existence in accord with God's order of things, or the end of all further ways is coming”

Let us not heed the still enduring frivolity of the multitudes, let us have before us only the way leading to the ascent, the way which leads forward through harmony, creativeness and wise kindliness towards other men

The ascent and the healing of the individual and also of the whole community lies in forgiveness

When mankind comes upon the essence of this great law, then peace and joy will at last dawn upon this earth, even as all this is promised together with the beginning of the golden age of the Kingdom of God upon earth

May there be found as great a number of men as possible who will show that they have not yet quite buried within themselves their pure inner being, their spiritual perceiving
