Earthly man could be lastingly surrounded by strengthening inspirations which would incline towards him in the most natural form out of the heights directly down to here, to this gross material part of his existence

It was never meant to be so that mankind should be severed from the other parts of the work of Creation as dreadfully sharply as it is today

There was always to be here an actively flowing stream of all the helps inclining towards man out of the spiritual spheres of his true home

Thanks to this flowing of exalted inspirations, life on Earth could be quite other today than it is in its present form

The most natural state of mind should have been the lasting awareness that here on Earth too everything comes about under the effects of the threads woven out of the Wisdom of God

From this there would naturally follow trust in the protection lastingly appointed for all those who in their daily life live and act purely

It could not be otherwise, for it would be entirely in accord with the Laws of God, which work helpfully for man in all the parts of the Subsequent Creation

Had the development gone along the right paths as it was prepared for mankind at the beginning by the divine weaving of the great threads of fate of the earthly world, people could have today entirely open before them the strengthening paths leading high upwards, which would afford the connection with the blissful planes in the Primordial Creation

From the very first beginning of the history of mankind on Earth the weavers of fate had prepared only such ascending events that, even with regard to the differences and the varied maturities of the individual nations, everything should gradually have led in the end to a unity of high spiritual knowledge, the same for all the continents on this small planet

This would have been made possible precisely by the supreme connection with the planes of the blissful human spirits in the Primordial Creation

The unity of knowledge should then have been mirrored in the life of people so vividly that for no one would there have been any doubt as to what task earthly life has in the spiritual ascent of the individual and of the whole of human society

In no case should there any longer hold good what we find today, where irreconcilable religious disputes still persist which repeatedly call forth flare-ups reaching the degree of fanaticism

A religion which bears within itself thoughts of defeating and erasing from the face of the Earth all people who hold another view of the meaning of life betrays of itself that it stands at a stage of immaturity which shows itself in dividing instead of in uniting

Dividing and uniting

In these two attitudes lies a fundamental opposition which in the end permeates all human doings

It is the same as fighting and co-operation

Fighting, as it is understood and also carried out by people today, divides, whereas co-operation unites

Both demand of man the expending of much strength, yet fighting in the end always brings for all who take part in it only exhaustion, whereas co-operation bears refreshment within itself

Alas, the Earth still stands at the stage of fighting

Fighting advances in the endeavour to force everything violently forward, whereas co-operation strides onward through its calm example

Fighting in a certain sense belongs to the activity of the animistic servants, in whose hands it never deviates from the great vibrations of Justice

In the hands of the animistic servants fighting is the fulfilment of the Law of action and reaction

In the hands of immature people, however, fighting is in nine cases out of ten only the cause of newly arising injustice

It is exactly the same as with the duel, which for many men through centuries and millennia was an alluring challenge seemingly containing an expression of courage and heroism, yet in its essence the duel was nothing other than an act betraying the childish immaturity of all those who ever took part in such a thing

Resorting to violent action and to fighting therefore almost always means the tying of threads of fate which bind the spirit to the matter of the Subsequent Creation

In the Laws of God nothing can be transgressed without the necessity of redeeming the reciprocal effect of the threads of fate

If, therefore, someone believes in the usefulness of an outward fight, instead of in the struggle of the spirit for its own ennobling or in the endeavour to co-operate with other people, he thereby only issues a visiting card of his own inner state

It always testifies only to the inner state of a person, according to which of these two principles he inclines towards

In the case of the human spirit, a fight whose aim is the endeavour to subjugate another and to make him inferior or unfree is an expression of his still insufficient maturity

On the contrary, the expression of the precious spiritual value of a person is tolerance, mutual respect, and on a still higher level an ever more conscious co-operation

All the talk of people which creates the impression of the necessity of fighting, defended by the incompatibility of living together with those people on Earth who are of another kind, is only a hollow-sounding excuse for their own immaturity

Whoever does not fulfil the commandments of the Ten Commandments of Moses, and also the words of Jesus about the beatitudes, always first with himself, still carries within him the immaturity of the spirit, and it avails nothing if outwardly he strives to create a deceptive impression before other people

Today life among people should have been built wholly upon the principle of uniting

Uniting, that is, in the case of people co-operation, demands, however, a great shift in the hitherto thinking of mankind

The differences in the comprehension of the great working of God should today no longer rest at all upon the limited conceptions of people, which are built upon a dogmatic repetition of the ancient inspirations of individuals who in the several epochs of the history of mankind came to Earth precisely in order to mediate to the people of their time, according to the maturity of the individual nations, graspable degrees of vistas which were to strengthen them towards a further ascent

Today the majority of people are unable to think of God otherwise than as it is ingrained in one or another of the religions

Of God there is speech by way of forms which move in deeply worn ruts created by countless generations which were unable to free themselves from the repetition of the mantras of ancient religious terminology

Thereby much is stubbornly maintained in the disposition of thought which should have been overcome, for it was appointed only for the earlier peoples at their stage of development

In the spiritual advance in the development of people it should of necessity already have become a thing of the past

There is much that severs the people of today from their real spiritual enlightenment and stands here as an obstacle against which many constantly collide

For example the personification of God, which at a certain time could bring people nearer to their comprehension of the Creator, has finally become a painfully protruding point acting as a brake upon healthy perceiving, for the idea of a human form of God as an old man who watches over the universe leads many people, set against today's astronomical knowledge of the universe, naturally to a smile, or directly provokes them to an implied belittling of the mighty Principle of Life which the Creator in reality is

Many works of art, as also the by now historical adornments of temples, however truly and fervently they were experienced in the degree of comprehension of those who created them, often raise great obstacles herein if they are to be taken naively and lastingly as pictures depicting reality

These works are today to be taken only as a valuable artistic record of the development of human comprehension, and not as a naive attempt to depict something real

Many rituals of a religious kind likewise proceed only from ancient traditions, without anyone reflecting that much of these persisting ways of worshipping the Most High should have been continually advanced and ennobled up to the highest manner of a simple and natural human maturity

Were this so, that living connection with all the inhabitants of the spiritual planes would hold good today, and everything which is now considered important therein would be overcome in the higher view of the knowledge of loftier connections

People would adapt themselves to that higher kind of spiritual life as it is fulfilled in the blissful supra-earthly planes

There almost nothing is to be found of what people connect with faith and with the worshipping of God as it is still carried out on Earth today

The majority of religious festivals on Earth, no matter which creed we look at, are always bound up with some gross material event which, in its course, was perhaps of value once, when it had its weight in the gradual development of the spiritual maturity of people

In reality this should already today have been overcome and advanced further towards a higher degree of comprehension

That religious festivals and rituals are always directed predominantly only towards something earthly and in the form of ceremonial worship is not a sign of the earnest faithfulness of such people to tradition, but alas only a sign of backwardness in spiritual development

True spiritual maturity always leads to a simple manner of fulfilling the inward worship and praise of the Creator

Celebrations and festivals, as they are practised today in the individual religions, lead predominantly only to an earthly concentrating upon particulars, and not to the raising of the inner being upwards towards the planes of its spiritual origin

They sever earthly man from the spiritual connection with the heights, instead of leading him towards uniting with them

In the spiritual planes it is entirely otherwise

There a unified experiencing of a whole and joyful service holds good, which stands far above all the conceptions of people on Earth

Already in the higher planes of the ethereal worlds all clinging to religious dogmas is for the greater part overcome by the souls there who are permitted to continue their approach towards the spiritual home

The glorifying of prophets who perhaps at some time brought to Earth, in their inspirations from the spiritual heights, a knowledge that advanced the development, as it is done here by their followers, is in the places of the higher planes of the ethereal worlds something unimaginable, for the knowledge already to be found there surpasses the wilful childishness which still persists with a great part of the people professing the religions on this Earth

Some of these prophets, who have themselves already attained the spiritual home, even incline from time to time towards the lower-lying planes in order to set right the attempts at an unseemly worship of their person

The greatest part of the texts of the Bible and of the texts of the other religions is forgotten in the lighter worlds in the direct experiencing of souls who open themselves to a knowledge of God entirely other than the one known on Earth

This knowledge is of far fuller value, and it contains an emphasis upon the freedom of decision, which is always a most inwardly experienced presence of the comprehension of the Will of God

The value of a free will which leads to one's own knowledge is prized far more highly than people on Earth imagine in connection with the divine ordaining of the path of the human spirit

It is also fully permeated with a living comprehension of the Laws of Creation, and that without a rigid binding to past earthly terminologies, in which not seldom only confusion and contradiction reign here

The unity of the inhabitants of the planes of the Light rests in the accord with the Laws of God

Through each one, at his own stage of maturity, striving independently for the perceiving of the Spirit of God, harmony arises naturally therefrom

That is because no one demands of another the observance of outward forms if love for the Creator were not at the same time to be inwardly experienced therein

And it is precisely the experiencing of this love for God that unites souls already only a little lighter, however much these souls were often of entirely different confessions on Earth

All differences are quickly effaced, for everything divergent in opinion is overcome, and that through mutual support upon the way towards further degrees of enlightenment

Something of the kind cannot, however, be pictured on Earth today, for what is lacking is precisely the experiencing of the unity of the Laws of God and the fulfilling of a true love for God that follows from it

The true love of people for God is to bind and unite them, however much each one comes to this noble experience from different degrees of maturity and comprehension

Everything that thereby divides is a sign of immaturity

In order that this immaturity may be more irradiated by a new approach, there needs to come today to this Earth a spiritual enlightenment which will bring the clarification of many hitherto dogmas that act as a hindrance in the ascent

People need to comprehend, in the most living manner of their thinking and perceiving, that the personal experiencing of the comprehension attained of the divine Principle of Life is something wholly personal, which may be shared, yet which can never be forced upon one's fellow men

Personal example is therefore the way to the fulfilment of the gradual penetration of spiritual enlightenment in the present time

Everything else is to be left to the threads of the weavers of fate and also to the working of the animistic servants of Valhalla

The hitherto obstacles working herein, be it immaturity or too many inclinations towards ill-doing, will be removed from the Earth through the work of the animistic servants

The hitherto dogmatic rigidity too will be displaced by the growing pressure intervening in human destinies

That place where mankind should long since have stood will be reached at an accelerated pace

Every single person can add to this his own strengthening share of nobility of character irradiated by the striving for new knowledge

The pure volition for new knowledge will gradually become a new value among people

On Earth that manner of existence will become highly esteemed and honoured in which it is lastingly visible in a person's life that he advances in his maturity through the way in which a true love for God expresses itself in his comprehension and in his outward action

Thereby a wholly new plane of values will form among people, where everything hitherto inferior will be laid aside, and in the pure fulfilling of the natural striving of the human spirit, which consists in the following of models – there will rise to the summit of the pyramid the true reverence and love for God of those who will impress upon these high values new forms of a wise earnestness and at the same time of a kindly and objective strictness, which can never be separated from the individual stages of the human striving for ascent

Through this new disposition alone there will come about on Earth revolutionary changes which will show themselves beneficially in all the consequences of human life

It will penetrate into all human relationships

It will bring into families and into the whole of society a new animating power which will form on Earth a home for the human souls that come with the high aim of laying aside here everything past and of drawing in the liberating knowledge of the Truth, which will be given already to the smallest children in the form of beautiful true stories drawn from the lives of great spirits

All this will be done not for a new worship of exalted personalities, but for the inspiration out of their lives, with the knowledge that anyone can become such who only strives to live in accord with the All-Wisdom of God

Everything unfolding in a living way in the heights of the Primordial Creation will likewise become at the same time accepted knowledge in this earthly world of men as well

Not for the satisfying of a craving for sensation, but for an earnest accord with all the tidings which descend through the planes in the form of a proclamation

Thereby human existence in the earthly world will attain that degree which was promised from the very beginning as the time of the conscious experiencing of the working of the Will of God, which will be present also in a share in the shaping of the earthly development of society

The Will of God will become an all-permeating power which by the most natural effect will help to maintain the great harmony among people

Today there is on Earth not even a small fragment of a conception of all that will be contained therein and how greatly it will show itself as a blessing for human lives

Whether it concerns health and the full value of life, or the great discoveries of the forces of nature and the technical knowledge about matter which today must still remain forbidden to mankind in its immaturity, in everything there will vibrate the quiet trembling of the praise of God, as in the time of the golden age of mankind

The golden age will be an age of great knowledge with all that rightly belongs to it

All that people are unable today to bring into this world of themselves will be mediated precisely in the connection with the spiritual spheres as something which will gradually become self-evident for the new generations

The ability to ask the spiritual helpers about the many questions which today remain unanswered, to draw counsel and inspiration, or to take a lasting share in the shaping of the material world in common working with the animistic servants in nature, all this is contained in the vista of the coming spiritual enlightenment

And this enlightenment is already not far off

Under its effect absolutely everything in the hitherto world of men will finally change

The present disposition of thought of people is drawing irresistibly towards its end, so as to make room for an entirely new form of life

Everyone who longs for an improvement of the conditions of the human world can already in the present go to meet the approaching spiritual enlightenment for his own part

His striving herein will be a refreshment not only to himself, but will be a strengthening for his fellow men, who today are only just awakening out of a long spiritual sleep

All this descends in an echo towards the Earth by way of the call of those who strive to lead upwards to the Light all who have an open heart
