It has already been described here on the Way of the Grail more than once how few people here on Earth devote a serious interest to the abilities which they nevertheless bear within themselves, precisely as the spiritual inhabitants of the work of Creation

The state of motionless slumber has become so ingrained that even the originally strongest and most natural spiritual abilities in man have in the earthly world drawn near to the degree of a motionless rigidity

People have these abilities so withered within them that the majority no longer even suspect that in their inner being they carry, as something entirely natural, the predispositions which would enable them to become far more receptive towards the supra-material happenings, and thereby to experience every moment of their life far more consciously

The unfolding of these abilities would thereby bring them a high degree of wisdom

And also that peacefulness filled with deep inner peace which today the greatest part of people so sorely lack

People, however, know not the least thing of the abilities which sleep in their inner spiritual spark

That this is so can easily be recognised by the fact that the moment these abilities are spoken of more closely, the majority shake their heads, or merely smile with an unbelieving shrewdness in their eyes, and some even attack the mentioned vistas of the spiritual abilities as something impossible which in their view contradicts the Laws of Creation

But this only proves how feeble the spiritual condition of today is, even with those who regard themselves as spiritually advanced in comparison with their fellow men

It has been the same already for thousands of years

Whenever new vistas are spoken of which until then were unknown to people, the first answer of a great part of them is as a rule a convulsive rejection and mockery

And often also an angry aggression towards those who bring this new thing

Thus works the intellect, which, whenever something new comes from the heights above matter and therefore does not proceed from its own workshop, regards it as a threat to itself, for therein it at once recognises its own limitation and insufficiency

The intellect always regards everything new that comes of supra-earthly origin as a threat to its earthly dominion, which it seized entirely for itself when it robbed it from the stewardship of those people more alive in their intuitive perception

This creates unrest and anger, for the rigidity of opinion created by the intellect must precisely in the present time face again and again the inflow of ever new knowledge out of the supra-material heights through people who are inwardly open

It is precisely this that leads to a growing tension of thought

This will last so long until in every person the spiritual spark, which alone is able to perceive what comes from the heights of Creation above matter, takes its dominion back for good

That, however, is still not taking place

The intellect covers over the abilities of the spirit with a pall of dogmas of opinion whose summit always ends where the boundaries of material comprehension lie

Beyond this boundary the intellect can never step

This irritates it, for it would like to regard itself as the complete ruler over everything

The fact that this is not so, and that the intellect can never be the ruler, then calls forth in those individuals who are its slaves the manifestations of an irritated anger

It awakens in them an aggressiveness often clumsily covered over with outward mockery

Already in the Grail Message brought from the Light a hundred years ago it is spoken of how with people limited by the intellect very serious questions are often answered merely in the form of foolish laughter

Today it is exactly the same, and alas not a single sign is to be seen that there has been even the slightest advance further

The foolish mocking of what is not immediately attainable to material comprehension remains permanently in the armoury of whole multitudes

This, alas, concerns also those who regard themselves as especially versed in spiritual matters

We can easily observe it everywhere that damaging mockery is used, or also other ways of discrediting someone in the eyes of other people

However much it may look as though such people were seemingly faithful to some knowledge with which they outwardly fence about them, it quickly shows itself in their manner of speaking and of writing that in fact they know nothing at all

In the end such people always end in the endeavour to fling mud of every kind headlong

Not only is this something unworthy of the human spirit, but it is a more than clear sign of the supremacy of the intellect

That is because an honourable person, in matters where he is sure within himself of his own knowledge, calmly and objectively lays forth proofs for the confirmation of his perceiving

If he is not sure, he either strives, in the highest liveliness of the intuitive perceiving of his inner being, to make up for everything by penetrating into the depth of the vistas of new knowledge that are brought, or at least in silence leaves room for the further development of thoughts to other people

Something of this kind is, however, entirely foreign to a great part of people, because especially in the last decades a strange assumption has multiplied on Earth that everyone understands everything, and that therefore judgments about absolutely anything may swiftly be pronounced by anyone

Above all the pronouncing of judgments about other people has become a welcome manner of conversation among those who have let themselves be swept along by this dangerous current

Alas, such is still the state of present-day mankind, and it will last for some time yet, until the great transformation is fulfilled through the spiritual enlightenment of mankind

It will yet take some time before everything changes towards a more spiritual perceiving of life

For the present people are for the greatest part vassals of materialism, without knowing it

Thus even today we as a rule meet with the manifestations of the intellect wherever the possibility offers itself of showing whether there is more spiritual liveliness in a person or not

Only where there is the highest mobility in comprehension, bound up with the ability to raise oneself above all that is material, can there come at least an intuitive sensing of the true greatness of the work of Creation of God

This work of Creation of God is precisely in its immaterial part incomparably more extensive than that part of the Subsequent Creation formed by the precipitations of the materialities, which in their magnitude are in reality only a negligible annexe to the original work

And it is precisely the excessively intellectual people who are stuck fast in the annexe, which arose as an auxiliary stage provided for the development of the weakest part of the spiritual species, to which the human spirit belongs

Instead of the spiritual sparks striving with all their strength to raise themselves higher above all that is material, they remain imprisoned deep in matter

That this is so they prove by their manner of thinking in almost every moment of the day

Not only do they in their decisions always finally give preference to that manner of acting which stands nearer to advantage in earthly life than to the spiritual home, which at that moment is far from them, but they also confirm their being stuck in the material by the unmistakable sign of a limited comprehension of everything that lies above matter with its forms of the manifestations of the Laws of Creation

These people know the manifestations of the Laws of Creation only as they express themselves in material form, which means that they project their quite definite limited application into everything else, and thus also into the planes above the material annexe of the Subsequent Creation

This, however, means a complete failure to understand the difference which reigns between the material and the spiritual part of the work of Creation

That there must necessarily be a difference here is suggested by the simplest fact alone, which says that in the spiritual the eternal being of the human spirit is an entirely natural state, whereas under material conditions nothing of the kind can be fulfilled

This comparison of the spiritual and the material alone should lead to the attentiveness that here entirely different manifestations of the otherwise ever-same Laws of Creation will prevail

But it is precisely in this that the limitation of comprehension shows itself in people who otherwise regard themselves as spiritually advanced

With their manner of thinking they are unable to raise themselves higher, so as to recognise that the spiritual is entirely of another kind than the material, and that therefore this difference will in the end manifest itself in absolutely everything in which people seek to find sameness

It is precisely this stubborn comparing that must then lead to a failure to comprehend such a thing as the possibility of the multiple consciousness of the already fully matured human spirits in Paradise

People here on Earth, with their manner of thinking, quickly come up against their own conceptions of how such a thing could be possible if they themselves do not know it

The idea that a mature human spirit can be spread out with his participating consciousness in several places at one time therefore appears to them as something impossible, for they themselves are unable to grasp such a thing here in matter

Thereby they quickly push the new knowledge aside with the label that it is impossible

Yet they could be led to a closer comprehension by the fact that even here on Earth the earthly body has a nervous system which connects all the parts of the body with the brain

The brain, as the centre animated by the radiation of the spirit for all the impulses directed into the other parts of the body, is connected with them in a gross material way through the nervous system, which prolongs the will of the spirit passing through the brain right into the most distant extremities of the body

Through the nervous system the spirit feels warmth, cold, pleasant touches, and likewise pain, even at the very end of its whole body

But there is here something still closer, belonging to the earthly-similar manifestations of that uncomprehended multiple consciousness of the spiritual kind

This closer thing, which could lead to comprehension, lies in the fact that through the brain and the nervous system the spirit governs each of the limbs separately

If we start from the assumption that the earthly body of a person is healthy, it will be nothing unusual that it is able to make a different movement with each limb

At the same moment the right hand will be performing a different work from the left hand

The legs of a person too will thereby at the same moment in all probability be able to make other independent movements, without this at the same time endangering the will of the spirit, which through the brain's own capacity is already working ahead, pondering all the further things which are only yet to come in turn in the material expression of the body

For this purpose of a certain independence of the limbs the body is bound into a whole solely through the nervous system, which conducts the impulses needed for the carrying out of the movements

Why then can man not reflect upon the fact that what in matter is ensured by the impulses of the bodily nervous system for the carrying out of movements and of all sense perceptions, that precisely this is in the spiritual laid into the capacity for the conscious action of the spirit through an outgoing ray radiation

In the spiritual planes it is precisely the ray of radiation that corresponds to what in the earthly we find, in a distant reflection, in the vibration of the nervous system

In the spiritual planes everything needed is always contained in the ray radiation

The ray leads the consciousness of the spirit to those places where at the given moment he wishes to be present for a full experiencing

If then this approximate elucidation does not suffice for the comprehension of the concept of spiritual multiple consciousness in the luminous heights, we may also reflect upon the possibilities of the technical radio transmission of sound and picture here in matter

Thanks to this radio radiation the person concerned can be at one end of the world, while at the same time his voice and his image can decide immensely serious matters on the other side of the world

Do people who regard themselves as spiritual, and who yet through their lack of comprehension deny the spiritual multi-conscious working of mature spirits as something impossible, perhaps wish to say that the earthly world can achieve here in gross matter something more than what is a thousandfold more possible in the simplest manner of ray radiation in the worlds of the supra-earthly kind

Something of that kind really calls for a very narrowed thinking and comprehension, if we start from the fact that the higher worlds always stand in their possibilities far above all the bodily and technical possibilities of people on Earth

If it is possible for the spirit here on Earth to govern with its will the earthly body with its limbs through the nervous system, and, using technical inventions such as the telephone or video, to work at a distance across continents upon others by voice and by image, then for a person who reasons in a living way it is the more easily evident that in the spiritual worlds all these possibilities come about many times more naturally through the radiation of the spirit

If the spirit becomes mature and is permitted to work in the regions of the spiritual home, there unfold in him the abilities which are given as possible for an ever wider field of activity in the exalted service of the Creator

And to these mentioned abilities belongs precisely the multiple consciousness, which is used by mature spirits as something self-evident, also in order to make possible their incarnating into the material worlds for the purpose of helping in their development

The guiding power for the accomplishment of such an incarnation is a partial ray radiation springing forth from the wish of the spiritual inhabitant of Paradise

The ray of radiation brings his volition to fulfilment in such a way that at the incarnation he may receive as strong a degree of receptivity as is experienced by the developing spiritual sparks, which are thereby connected with the earthly body by their bridging radiation with the whole of their radiation entire

The developing spiritual sparks on the path of their ripening need for the incarnation the whole of their radiation, for they do not yet possess that power which is to be found in the matured human spirit who, being self-conscious, has attained the spiritual worlds

In this lies the difference between the mature human spirit and the spiritual spark in man which still finds itself upon one of the stages of ripening

Just as a grown person manages many activities at once, when his hands can devote themselves to some work while his thoughts run entirely independently, whereas a small child concentrates wholly upon the movements of its little body because it does not yet fully control it, so it is likewise in the case of the development of the human spirit germ and of the already finished mature spirit who has unfolded within himself all the abilities he received for his activity

It is therefore nothing unusual if we speak of the multiple consciousness of the human spirits dwelling in Paradise

They have quite naturally unfolded such abilities as people on Earth do not even succeed in picturing to themselves rightly

To know of it is at least a small foundation, which is always of benefit

That is because the knowledge of such an ability as multiple consciousness can lead even here on Earth to the endeavour to develop one's receptivity towards other people and towards all life more all-embracingly, whereby the spirit itself then determines its paths to where it can be of the greatest help

The granting of freedom to the spirit to assert itself in the abilities which it contains within itself helps everyone in overcoming the narrowness of the hitherto comprehension of connections influenced by the intellect

The upward flight of the spirit is always bound up with the unfolding of the many abilities laid within it

It therefore makes great sense to speak of these things already today, when many people struggle even with the mere idea that there is anything spiritual within them at all, and that they themselves are not merely a material form of life, as is generally understood among materialists

It may be a help upon the new path, which in reality should have been here from the very beginning, for the human spirit is born on Earth not only for experiences with the manifestations of the Laws of Creation in their material form, but above all for the unfolding of his inner gifts and predispositions

Here belongs everything important, such as the very ability to perceive and to co-operate with the animistic servants, the high capacity of receptivity through multiple consciousness, the comprehension of moving in time and space with the finer coverings of the spiritual spark and the learning of it, and much else besides that belongs to the abilities of the human spiritual species

If all the strength which is devoted by people to material affairs alone were redirected more towards the unfolding of the spiritual abilities as well, the world of men would swiftly undergo great changes, for connections would be discovered which in the end would greatly help in the outward ordering of the life of people on Earth

Much would swiftly change, for gradually insights would be attained which would entirely alter the use of the forces which are around us awaiting the call, so that they might be of help in quite other ways than those which the striving of the hitherto direction of intellect-influenced people brings as its result

The Laws of Creation have many manifestations, however strictly they always proceed from the primal creative effect of the thoughts of the Will of God

The Spirit of God works in many forms on the basis of the otherness of kind which is contained in the individual planes of the work of Creation

That something of the manifestations of the finer worlds can penetrate even into this plane of gross materiality is testified by the miracles that are experienced and show themselves here and there among people

Miracles are never a denial of the Laws of Creation, but are only another manifestation of their working

Either it is a matter of an unprecedented acceleration of happenings which would otherwise run their course very slowly, or it may be a matter of the attaching of threads which are newly woven by the animistic weavers of fate into the path of the human spirit, so that in them he may recognise the Grace-filled help of God in the measure in which his spirit has opened itself in trust towards the Spirit of God

Often several happenings are even joined therein at once, and thereby a happening may finally be fulfilled which human comprehension calls a miracle

It is, however, nothing unusual, for if people walked the right paths, miracles would enter into their lives every day

Thereby, however, they would come only a little nearer to that degree of the lasting experiencing of bliss which is proper to those spirits who have completed their development and were permitted to ascend from the material annexe of the Subsequent Creation here into the spheres of the Primordial Creation

The knowledge that abilities of an almost miraculous kind slumber within man should be an encouragement towards a great transformation in the whole disposition of the intuitive perceiving and the thinking of people

Any fervent endeavour towards it is already a benefit for man, for not only does he himself change, but out of his striving there always penetrates from him into his surroundings a radiation which can bring beneficial harmony and a radiation full of peace, and which of itself always strengthens other people too towards ascent, those who in homogeneity let themselves be beneficially influenced by it

The creative power of radiation can swiftly change the whole world for the better, if people begin to occupy themselves in earnest with the things which have hitherto lain fallow and without movement in their inner being

The awareness that through work upon himself in the unfolding of his abilities everyone can of himself contribute to the improvement and the ennobling of the conditions on the whole Earth should be an immense impetus for every person more versed in this to set to work courageously

The movement of his spirit will bring movement into his surroundings

Such is the Law which works unceasingly in its neutral effect in absolutely everything

Hitherto this has been used by people in their rigidity rather to the harm of all life on Earth

Now, however, it can swiftly be turned about and bring to this world new vistas of human existence

Knowledge of the abilities of the spirit can herein be an important help to every person who genuinely occupies himself with it

May there be found as many such people as possible who will comprehend it and make it their own, so as to change in a fundamental way their hitherto direction of life

The hour is very far advanced for people to begin to occupy themselves in earnest with all that makes them the spiritual inhabitants of the work of Creation

The great spiritual enlightenment calls to every person to awaken and to begin his ascent entirely consciously

The blessing of the helps of God awaits all those who in courageous striving begin with it already now
