It is astonishing that the great majority of people, in their gross material bustle, live their life here on Earth in almost complete ignorance of all that pertains to any higher knowledge

From the spiritual point of view people live in deep darkness

The most incredible thing about it is that this majority is so inwardly asleep that it does not trouble them in the least

If someone earnestly asks the people of today whether they at least in part sense what the true meaning of their existence is, their frequent answer is astonishment that anyone should occupy himself with such a thing

Seen from the high mission which people were to bring to the Earth in their spiritual task, it is evident that by this very thing the majority has placed itself entirely voluntarily on the level of the disinherited

To be disinherited means to lose every kind of help which was originally always to be at hand from those servants who were predestined for it by the All-Wisdom of God

These helpers are the animistic servants

And it is precisely the animistic servants who now stand against mankind

In the great connections this means for mankind to remain without the helps which were prepared for the fulfilment of a glorious existence on Earth

The mentioned period of patient waiting on the part of the animistic servants has however come to an end, and so it will remain until all the parts of the promised great transformation, which will bring spiritual enlightenment, are fulfilled

Today, however, there is nothing here that would prove that people are striving for spiritual enlightenment

Nevertheless a great part of mankind supposes that they are living life in full value

They think they live in full value, however much they use the great gift of earthly life granted to them in an inert superficiality, as the preceding generations have taught them

What they regard as full value is living on Earth without hunger, with a pleasant place to sleep, with family or friends in the fulfilment of small and great wishes, a life spent in amusement, and along with all this to have the possibility of a steady inflow of money

And furthermore, should a person so wish, to travel freely all over the world, and then in old age to have the possibility of drawing on a well-earned rest

That is how a great part of people picture the full value of life

Yet nothing of the kind can in the least be called a life of full value

Full value lies in the attaining of the highest goal

In the case of man the high goal is the unfolding of all his spiritual powers and abilities

By the ordinance of the Spirit of God the fulfilling of purely earthly things was never to be the summit of human existence on Earth, but such a thing was to be only a natural part of a far more important spiritual development

The man who strives for spiritual ascent could thereby, through the helps from God, have a sufficiency of everything

He could even have far more than he has today

Sufficiency in material provision is always to be the foundation of life, never the goal

The archetype of the concept of sufficiency lies, however, above all also in a way of life which causes man no suffering, just as he himself is never to cause suffering to others

The concept of sufficiency can thereby take many forms in the conditions which are fulfilled for the individual person in the moment of the present

With each one they are always quite definite conditions which in strict justice belong to his stage of development

Here too it must be recalled that what benefits the one harms the other

It is the same as with the gross material shell of the human body

What holds good of the abilities and predispositions of the earthly body, which in the case of human beings is always different in its uniqueness, holds likewise for the other conditions in which a man finds himself in particular parts of his life

No one should therefore long to make his own the conditions of life appointed for another person, because he does not know what preceded those conditions, nor what will also follow later in the further unfolding of his path

Sufficiency for one is the possibility of having somewhere to lay his head for the night in at least tolerably bearable conditions, while for another it is a necessity to have in everything a higher degree of beauty and comfort, for these are the conditions which his inner being connects with the concept of sufficiency

Everyone is also to strive honestly to gain the conditions he longs for, so that through his own movement and effort he may earn them, for in the work of Creation nothing comes of itself

However great the differences between people may be, especially if we compare those who live very modestly with those who possess enormous wealth, it must always hold good that the conditions of life on Earth should be such that no one need suffer complete want in the things necessary for the free and dignified expression of his inner being

To have a foundation for life is today truly within the reach of everyone

It is also something entirely different from what people picture to themselves under the concept of sufficiency in earthly life

It was not to become a reason for the never-ending nourishing of corroding envy when a man observes in others that at a certain time a better material footing falls to their lot, and that they therefore have outwardly an apparent comfort in the things concerning their earthly life

In every man there should always reign peacefulness and trust in the Laws of God, which contain the promise that if a man ascends spiritually his paths will surely be so ordered that sooner or later he too will feel himself in sufficiency of all that he needs for a free life

At a certain stage of spiritual maturity material provision is gradually to become only an accompanying share in the exalted value of human existence here on Earth, not the goal of a constant chase after the attaining of a still more sumptuous life

And yet to such a thing as an earthly footing many people devote the greatest part of their strength

They want to improve their conditions unceasingly, and that even to the degree of luxury and affluence, and having attained it they regard themselves as exceptionally successful in comparison with others who have nothing of the kind

Yet apart from the developing of their skills for successful gross material survival, the most important thing in man still lies fallow

The spiritual value of man rests in the wisdom and the maturity of his inner being

It is almost unbearable to realise on how low a level mankind moves in all the knowledge which is necessarily bound up with its spiritual origin

Everything lags far behind where it should already stand today

People could and also should already have had complete knowledge of the abilities which belong to their spiritual species, and which the individual also needs to develop lastingly lest they wither again once he has awakened at least a small part of them within himself

If it is said today that with the majority of people nine tenths of the spiritual abilities lie deeply slumbering, which is still a very lenient judgment of the reality, many voices at once rise against it asserting the opposite, for the majority wrongly reckons among the spiritual abilities those wholly elementary things such as decency or responsibility in living together with other people

The spiritual abilities laid within man are, however, something entirely different

Because they only slumber, with the greater part of people they have today not even the possibility of any outward manifestation visible enough to become a support for occupying the thoughts with such a thing

That is why there is here today such incomprehension when there is speech of that part of the spiritual abilities which were impressed by the Spirit of God into the spiritual nature of man

It leads even to zealously defiant resistance or, on the contrary, to mockery, which however only confirms the immaturity of those who thus display their incomprehension of anything that is new to them

Such manifestations have existed among people on Earth from time immemorial

Whatever is new here as a rule first calls forth in the majority of people, in their lack of understanding, aggression in the most varied forms

It is fear of the new and the unknown

It could also be called backwardness, and that would be justified, for such people only prove how very far behind they are in the development of their spirit

Only because the receptivity for the intuitive perceiving of a higher sense of harmony is completely suppressed within them can these people today meet with mockery something so natural as the very omnipresence of the weaving of the animistic servants

Yet it is precisely the inner spiritual ability that enables every man to come inwardly to the recognition that it is solely and only the animistic servants, as the executors of the Will of God, who work beyond the thin boundary of the visible and tangible world, if he looks about him and perceives the universe and nature purely and undimmed

To perceive and comprehend the animistic in the work of Creation is one of the abilities of the human spirit

This ability is laid from the very beginning in the spiritual spark of man

It is so because the spirit needs to bear within itself a right intuitive sensing of all that unfolds around it at the very beginning of its becoming conscious in the animistic planes and in the most highly situated ethereal gardens

Deep within, the human spirit carries the knowledge that it is precisely the animistic which forms and administers the space of the whole work of Creation, in which he may dwell in the blessing of self-consciousness

Without the creating of the animistic there would be neither space nor time anywhere in Creation

There would remain only the thoughts of the Spirit of God, Who needs nothing tangible and visible for His conscious being

But that would be against the very nature of the origin of the work of Creation itself, which on all planes received forms of the most glorious beauty, and that including the forms shaping the spiritual inhabitants of the work of Creation

With this awareness there is bound up in man the intuitive sensing of that fairy-tale world which surrounded him in the gardens of animistic creating, when at the very beginning of his path of awakening to being the first shell was formed which gave him support for his development

All this lies within the inner being of man and thereby naturally carries the foundation for an omnipresent perceiving of the animistic servants, towards an ever stronger unfolding of this ability

Whoever does not strive to develop his understanding of the animistic weaving of all forms becomes a stranger and finally one of the disinherited, for he denies the very nature of the space in which he finds himself

It really takes a great measure of dullness to live in the material world and never to bear within oneself questions as to how everything came into being and who gave the outward forms that shape in which, even here on Earth, a receptive person can always observe the wedding of beauty and wisdom into the great wholeness of Harmony

People call it the wisdom of nature, and they always stand before it in amazement whenever they come to know something new of the perfect interweaving which reigns therein, working so that everything, with regard to the smallest detail, joins together and forms itself into a great harmonious whole

Yet only very few of them go further, so as to concede that something so ingenious and at the same time so beautiful in its forms and colours could have shaped itself out of itself alone, merely on the basis of the dusty matter of the universe

There is only a very small number of people who reflect upon the nature, the origin and the duration of the outward material world

And only solitary individuals thereby press still further into the depths, so as to find answers to questions which with every step forward only multiply, branching out into finer and ever finer gradations

The greatest part of people answer to this that they have no time to occupy themselves with such reflections, because they have more important things to attend to

As important things they then regard the chase after the daily fulfilling of their material wishes and the duties arising therefrom

Thereby, however, their ability to perceive the animistic servants only withers lastingly, and they become insufficiently sensitive for co-operation with them

In the greatest part of their decisions they thus stand against the work of animistic creating, and thereby they necessarily become those who must be cast out as the authors of the disturbance of the great Harmony in the whole of the work of Creation

In this mankind has come to the very turning point, where it is a matter of either-or

Earthly man can go no further in his activity on Earth without now beginning in earnest to occupy himself with the important ability slumbering within him, that very ability which destines him for a receptive co-operation with the animistic servants

Therefore there is now the demand upon everyone who longs to strive towards God that he occupy himself also with all that necessarily belongs to God and to His Will

Among other things these are the faithful servants who form all the shapes in the space and time of the work of Creation

In all the higher planes, whether in the lighter planes of the ethereal worlds or even in the Primordial Creation, human spirits are able to behold the animistic if at the given moment they so will

It goes without saying that in the ethereal world the animistic servants are of yet another and finer species than here in the gross material universe

They are always more translucent and also more luminously suffused with a beauty which makes them in every respect fairy-tale beings

In the Primordial Creation it is then not a matter of animistic servants as they are known in the Subsequent Creation, but all the beings who bring the refreshing forces for the lasting maintenance of the wondrous beauty of those spheres are always of angelic appearance

These servants create and maintain everything entrusted to their care in quite a different way from the animistic in the gross material worlds

They work through radiations which bring the animating power to all forms and shapes more all-embracingly than is the case with the animistic servants who have their origin in the gardens of Asgard below Valhalla

But all this would again be matter for several separate discourses

Today it is fitting to occupy ourselves with the fact that in every human spirit there lie abilities to recognise the work of the animistic servants quite clearly and also lastingly, and to swing in vibration with it

This demands a measure of certain effort in the perceiving of a harmony of a higher kind than people on Earth know today

It is a harmony streaming from the all-embracing wholeness of the work of Creation

Therefore there vibrates within it a wisdom which works ahead with vistas bearing visible consequences over a span of time far longer than the earthly intellect is able to perceive

With these vistas the animistic servants worked precisely in the development of life on Earth

From the beginning there were here clearly given archetypes towards which all the development of life in nature then moved, and that slowly, in the course of millions of years

Always definite radiations had first to ripen before a further advance in the development could take place

In all this a wisdom may be found which exceeds the bounds of the reasoning of the human intellect

This recognising of wisdom is, however, achieved precisely through its abilities by the spiritual inner being of man

There is thereby no condition attached to seeing the animistic servants in this or that earthly life

For his development on Earth the human spirit always needs certain starting conditions

Therefore it is not needful for everyone to possess the predisposition to behold the animistic in a given life

It was never to be a necessity for every earthly man, although as many as one third of the people on Earth always carry within themselves the faculty of being permitted to see, even here on Earth, something of the finer supra-earthly planes

And to these belongs also that plane from which the animistic servants work into gross matter

One third of mankind therefore carries even today the predispositions to see them, if only these people would strive for it purely and fervently

But to sense intuitively, and thus in a certain sense to perceive ever more consciously and understandingly all that takes place beyond the boundary of matter in the world of the animistic servants, this faculty every human being carries within himself

The lasting intuitive perceiving of their work counts thereby for far more than the occasional glimpse of something flitting past a person

In the finer worlds too, souls and spirits do not need to behold the animistic servants continually, although it would be possible for them

After a time the soul which has learned to see the animistic in the planes of the ethereal spheres discovers that for its further progress it no longer needs to observe everything continually and to take delight in it, but attains in its lasting intuitive perception the recognition that this is something self-evident, belonging to the work of Creation as the most natural expression of the All-Wisdom of God

Thereafter the soul only here and there sharpens its gaze in order to delight in the beauty which is bound up with the animistic servants as a peculiar aura that always permeates their radiance

And far deeper and far more fervent still is it then in the planes of the spiritual home – in Paradise, where to perceive and to behold the angelic beings is for the spiritual inhabitants there always something which here on Earth can only remotely be compared with a performance of the highest kind of art

In those gardens of bliss the human spirit who has ripened to the degree of being permitted to enter these places may experience to the full all that his inner being longs to come to know, so that it may be gifted with new treasures out of the All-Wisdom of God

At first it appears to the newcomers as an endless stream of an all-comprising degree of wisdom, which not seldom threatens to overpower the spirit so strongly that he stands on the verge of losing consciousness

Gradually, however, the spirit grows accustomed to it and begins ever more, in joyful thanks, to absorb everything new into his inner being

For many there belongs here also the awareness that the Spirit of God, in order to be able to create and form the visible parts of the work of Creation, fashioned for this a way through the animistic forces, which for the greater part also have an outward shape and form

They are always of a glorious kind, like everything that swings in the Will of God

They lay no claim to being beheld always and everywhere, for in the first place they fulfil for God

It is therefore quite immaterial to them whether their work is appreciated by the spiritual inhabitants of the work of Creation

They rejoice that in their work they may lastingly experience how faithfully they fulfil what is ordained for them by the Will of God, for they know that solely and only out of this may the perfect accord of the great Harmony always be formed in the end

Human spirits, and thus also people here on Earth, bear within themselves the faculty of perceiving this accord as well, if only they will listen to the manner of its sounding

That would then naturally lead them to take part in the co-operation with all the animistic servants

Thereby a blessing of hitherto unheard-of strength could also sink into all the common activity of human beings and the animistic, out of which nothing but joy and happiness would further be born

And that also in the earthly world

Not one among people would need to regard himself as impoverished, as living in want or even in wretched conditions

The animistic would always grant him sufficient help so that he could live with dignity, and thereby at least in part joyfully as well

What still remained, which the human spirit would need for a whole happiness, would rest with other people

In this, however, lies the great transformation, that all this may today be moved forward

Despite all the present-day straying of people it is possible, for the predispositions lie lastingly laid within the inner being

They can be awakened out of their slumber and, with the help of many experiences, swiftly unfolded

All this people have within themselves, however little, in the present set of their thinking, they have even the faintest inkling of it

It is therefore fitting that through violent shocks the inner being should awaken and cast off the unworthy burden of material thoughts, which can never afford man the fullness of a whole joy and of a pure happiness

The time which will stir many a sleeping person is fortunately already drawing near

Every person should therefore welcome it, for despite its initial bitterness it brings healing from the hitherto sufferings of mankind

Only then will come the upsurge and the building up of a human society such as has never yet been here

The knowledge which is reaching people for this purpose will one day be prized as the greatest gifts that could ever fall to mankind

Today this is not yet so, but very soon it will change

Patiently and with sure step, therefore, let all those go forward who have courage enough to join in advance the small number of awakened human spirits receptive in their inner being

The near future will prove them right in all that for which all spiritually sleeping people still mock them today
