Now there approach the days when, in a heightened streaming towards the Earth, the Loving-Kindness of God draws near out of the source of the Holy Power

Therein there comes for many human spirits a rare opportunity, when in connection with this approaching all-overcoming help which rests in the Loving-Kindness of God they can advance a great part forward in their ascent to the Light

This significant advance in the ascent lies in the fulfilment of mercy towards other men

Mercy is one of the highest forms of service to the Light which the human spirit can manifest

Mercy manifested out of the spirit towards those who are weaker bears within itself a value which stands still higher than the ability to forgive others their guilt

It means to do something for others which at the same time often demands in some direction the overcoming of oneself, so that only thereafter can there come the strengthening of those inhabitants of the work of Creation who in their insufficiency urgently need such help

In mercy lies the worth of a man for entering into the host of the mature servants irradiated with light, who share in the spreading of the Graciousness of God in all the planes of the work of Creation

Thereby the spirit of man becomes more closely bound with those who are near to God

Out of every single deed of mercy, as also out of a more enduring manifestation of merciful conduct, in which the greatness of the spiritual degree of that man may be perceived, there forms a beneficent enrichment of the whole work of Creation

To mercy belong all those deeds in which a man can decide in his freedom and precisely chooses for himself the harder path in order to help those who need help

Where mercy towards one's fellow men is born in the fervent inner being of man, there a benefit must of necessity always arise for the whole work of Creation

It is the most precious expression of thanks which from the human spirit may rise upward to the steps of the divine throne

To all the knowledge gained from the work The Grail Message, open human spirits now need to add that kind of radiation which is to be found solely and only in mercy done through the manifesting of good towards all who urgently need it

This mercy always demands the highest livingness of the spirit, so that it may swing in harmony with the Love of God such as it truly is

It is a Lovingness which leads to the benefit of the human spirit

To the body also, if it has need of healing and of the renewal of bodily strength, or yet of other things concerning the earthly world, among which belong wholesome food and drink, worthy conditions of life such as a dwelling, work, and joy in a pure kind of recreation

In the first place, however, in all helping activity from the Light there has always stood the benefit to the human spirit, that he may ripen and thereafter also one day reach the spiritual home in Paradise, which alone grants him the promise of a lasting existence

Whoever, however, longs to help other human spirits needs to help them through the intuitive livingness of his own spirit

The same can be awakened only by the same

It therefore means first the exerting of all forces so that one's own spiritual inner being in man may become living

First the inner being of man needs to be made to glow to the degree of a pure giving in an unconditional following of the Will of God, which knows best what will spiritually benefit each man at his degree of ripeness

That which benefits the human spirit in his growth and ripening is far more than men today are able to imagine

Above all it is the manifestation, today so neglected, of genuine kindliness and gentleness, which today is entirely suppressed by the cunning intellect, from which, precisely as a substitute for kindliness, there comes the slimy, calculating unctuousness and obsequiousness so often used among men

Anything of the kind, however, goes directly against the paths unwinding from the Will of God, where it is precisely the cordiality of man, as the best instrument of intuitive perception, that alone is able to follow the paths of the All-Wisdom of God

To become aware of this fact helps man towards the capacity for granting true mercy

Already therein the beneficence contained in mercy can then also work back upon him who himself helps others

To be living always means to bear within oneself a high kind of nobility of character, wholly freed from everything base, which among other things must also show itself in dealings with other men

Where anything else is to be found than a patient gentleness filled with fervent purity in the helping of other men, there, whatever outwardly performed conduct we may then find, it will always have its origin in self-assertion, which again means only an activity looking solely to one's own person

Precisely this trait we can behold visibly in that life of society which is called politics

It can then never be otherwise than that from the Light such conduct is lawfully judged only as something self-seeking for the gratification of one's own vanity

And in this vanity there lies hidden the longing to make oneself visible, which is again only a preliminary stage to the fulfilment of the wish to be seen, to have influence, and thereby also power and dominion over others

Dominion over others lacking harmony with the All-Wisdom of God is nothing other than dictatorship, in which such men, in proportion to their possibilities, deny others their own free will in life

Where this kind of conduct is in a man, there after some time the patience in the feigned mercy always comes to an end and its true face shows itself

Not seldom out of feigned mercy there forms one or another form of tyranny

It is then the complete opposite of the true striving of the spirit in mercy, which manifests itself, besides claiming nothing for itself, in stillness and modesty

And because in many men there still remains a certain share of the longing to make themselves visible in the first place, however deeply hidden this may be from the eyes of others, that true mercy could not hitherto fully manifest itself on Earth which is demanded of human spirits by the Will of God, so that a beneficent blessing may truly prevail everywhere it is needed

We can truly observe this in many forms of the conduct of the men of today's world, and that both in all small and in great happenings

The path of loving conduct from man to man is weakened by an inner insufficiency of fervour and also by the immaturity of the individual spirit

Therefore the undreamt-of blessed forces of the Good and of the Light, which are always bound with pure mercy, have hitherto been literally dammed up

In the disposition of most men's approach to life these forces unhappily cannot come to the help either of those who receive gifts or of those who strive to bestow gifts upon fellow men in need of help

Everything then happens only on the surface, instead of its being the most inward living striving of the human spirit, who would thereby glow to the highest degree of spiritual power accessible to him

The Son of God, Jesus, saw well this damming up of the streaming forces from the Light, which lies in the cold intellectual conduct that is the greatest obstacle and that is instilled into most men from childhood, and He was aware how precisely for this reason His hearers could not fully experience that great participation in the Love of God to which He by His Word sought to lead them

His Words almost always struck in the end upon cold intellectual reasoning, which robbed everything pure and fervent in the hearers of the courage to transform it into conduct towards other men

Just as it was in the time when He was on Earth, so it is also today

Most men lack the capacity for true mercy towards their fellow men

It is therefore a sign that it is to just this that the men of today most need to devote themselves

Yet it is nothing difficult to recognise true mercy in intuitive perceiving

In part all men are able to perceive it intuitively

It is an inward vibration of joy bearing within itself the promise that this world can be better and that there is a place in it for every one of men who wishes in pure longing to join in

In the end it was precisely a certain share of the vibration of mercy that hitherto stood at the beginning of all the great endeavours of men to strive to change this world at least a little into a more luminous place in which to live

At the beginning of all such impulses of men to change the world for the better there stands precisely the experiencing of a bond with others in that vibration of joy at the doing of helping mercy

It is a pure devotion to a good cause at the price of the self-denial of individuals in the offering of their forces and abilities for the higher whole of the human community

Since, however, so high a degree of connection with the Light through a pure following of the All-Wisdom of God has not hitherto been attained that this could be maintained in permanence, in the end the sophistry of the intellect with all its evil consequences always insinuated itself into every initial enthusiasm that has so far appeared on Earth in the history of mankind, as for example the self-seeking abuse by leaders and rulers of the trustfulness of their fellow men, to whom they asserted, and still today assert, that they know which way all men are to go, although they themselves have not attained the knowledge of the true spiritual meaning of human life on Earth

It is only in the coldness of intellectual work that mercy on Earth has hitherto always sooner or later faded away and become either a habit, or else something ulterior has insinuated itself into the originally pure striving after mercy, which in the end wholly undermines the trust of others that anything such as mercy can be permanently maintained here on Earth in a fervently pure and living attitude of men

Nevertheless it still remains contained in every man, for precisely this kind of merciful helping accompanied the human spiritual spark at the beginning of its development through all the places of the more luminous planes

It is therefore a strong imprint which remains deep in the inner being of men as a confirmation that something such as a joyful enthusiasm in helping others who are weaker and in need of help is not only possible, but is indeed the most natural working of the human spiritual kind in the divine work of Creation

Everywhere that true mercy is to be found there prevails the longing to create purely and joyfully and to seek ways to the new discovery of helps

It is automatically strengthened by that high vibration of the Light which is to be found therein and which works with a beneficently strengthening effect upon everyone who opens his inner being to this vibration

This kind of swinging was also to have been the chief impulse for all striving of men on Earth after the progress of human society

Instead the intellect substituted personal advantage, personal visibility, and also the enjoyments flowing therefrom for those men who know cunningly to apply a substitute for mercy in the form of an outwardly shaped delusion that they know how to attain the social progress of mankind on Earth

Out of mercy there arose politics, with all the struggle for power that manifests itself in it

But all this will now soon come to its climax and its fall, so that after this fall the recognition may stand forth all the more visibly among men that God never supported anything of the kind which comes from the materialistic conduct of intellectual men, for only that could have His support which truly proceeds from the pure inward volition of man

Precisely and only true mercy has its support in the All-Wisdom of God

Mercy is bound with the livingness of the spirit, who longs to help a fellow man in need of strengthening on the path of his inward development

This help holds good for all the levels of human existence, not only for the support of the spiritual spark itself, but also for the outward strengthening in gross material life

For this striving there is the influx of strength contained in the approaching festival of “the Radiant Star”

Those who long to receive strength from the Ray of the Love of God, which is the bearer of the heightened streaming of the Light in that it creates the connection between the Grail and all the planes of the work of Creation in the time of the exalted Festival of the Grail, are therefore to prepare themselves inwardly, so that their spirit may be ready to show mercy to their fellow men

Only in this kind of attunement will there now come to them the influx of higher Power for their spirit and their body

And this strengthening is not appointed only for use in the short time after the Festival, but is to be a gift which will become an important armour of the spirit for the happenings in the coming year and for all the time thereafter

For this reason the drawing near of men to mercy, which is to be shown gently and patiently everywhere towards one's fellow men, may be called a complete rebirth of man's inner being

In this sense everything needs to be new and wholly freed from all the deposits of ingrained procedures of thought and of action

Precisely in the entering upon the path of mercy there lies for many a man a great opportunity to redeem earlier wrong ways of acting

The becoming luminous of the spirit in the doing of mercy to one's fellow men will then make it possible to lay aside many of the earlier mistakes by means of a symbolic experiencing in something small, instead of the heavy and painful experiences that threaten

This alone should be an enormous spur for everyone

The doing of good and right deeds strengthens and refreshes the spirit and at the same time makes possible the laying aside of ever finer kinds of threads reaching out of his past, and this until the complete liberation of the spirit from all the earlier wrong decisions of his free will within the Laws of Creation is attained

It is something so mighty and so great that swings in the Ray of the Loving-Kindness of God, that it is quite incomprehensible why it has hitherto not been possible to share among men in a wider awareness the experiencing of the effect of the great Law of Reciprocal Action, which bears within itself for every human spirit the most precious strengthening for the ascent, if it is used purely and rightly

Mercy is the most precious and also the swiftest way to release the human spirit from the threads binding him to everything that is to be found in the Subsequent Creation

Thereby the spirit can free himself from everything that hitherto necessarily held him below in the density of the materialities through the threads from the past

Therefore this reminder comes as counsel towards the right attunement of all those who long to attain progress with their spirit and to hasten their ascent to the Light

Anything of the kind is always possible within the Laws of God, if the spirit takes the right stand towards all his doing and acts wholly in accord with those Laws, so that these may bear him automatically upward

Mercy and its manifestation in a helping approach to one's fellow men is precisely that which makes the ascent of the spirit possible

In the present time on Earth it is a great opportunity for everyone who lays hold of this counsel wholly with his spirit and transforms his longing for the ascent into deeds blessed by the Light

The whole work of Creation is at this time disposed to help all who gather within themselves the courage to become truly new

Whoever is able to bring true mercy to life within himself draws near to the complete victory of his spirit over all weaknesses and over all his wavering as to what true service to God is to look like

He need not fear that his purely meant deeds will be abused, for precisely through the working of the animistic servants under the leadership of the strongest and mightiest from Valhalla, among whom belong Hareiars and other warriors, it is now sharply guarded from the Light that the darkness can no longer drag down anything so precious as mercy purely manifested by a human spirit

The time when anything of the kind could be experienced by men on Earth, thereby giving rise to the impression of futility in their good endeavours, is now at an end

The animistic will without hesitation strike a blow at every insolent abuse of mercy purely granted by a man

Let it therefore be a great warning to all the evil still in part dwelling among men, that every attempt to act as has hitherto been the custom for long millennia will now become a reason for the accelerated fulfilment of the divine Law of Reciprocal Action

Those who make it possible for pure mercy towards their fellow men to come alive within them are to be protected by a heightened power of the Light

Such is the promise drawing near to this Earth in the coming time

Let every day therefore be fully used for that striving which should already have blazed on this Earth as an inseparable part of the working of those who hold in their hands the work The Grail Message

The Festival of the Radiant Star is to begin already now with a concentrated preparation of the inner being, so that a living mercy may come alive again on this Earth through human spirits made luminous and aflame, as it was shortly after the time of the working of the Son of God, Jesus, in the beginnings of the first Christians

All spiritual activity around earthly men is now attuned to this from the Light

The Grail sends to mankind on Earth, through the streaming of the Ray of the Love of God, all-overcoming help and strengthening
