Connecting With the Power of God

There comes a time when it will show itself how greatly needful it is to occupy oneself with the things that are truly important

The most important of all things is the attuning of man to the Power streaming through the work of Creation

In the fervent awareness that its wellspring has its beginning with God in the Origin of His Principle of Life, the human spirit is to stand open in purity to this power at all times

Yet few today let this power enter directly into them, and with the sacredness that is its due

Most pass such a thing by, or even set themselves against it with mockery

Thereby, however, men make much else harder for themselves, and they even bring it about that a great part of their life paths takes an entirely different direction from the one it would take if an attunement to the Power of God were permitted to dwell within them permanently

Whether it be a matter of health, of inner guidance, or of the helps that may be found around a man, all this is closely bound up with how rightly the man in question stands open to the inflow of the power streaming from the heights of the Divine Principle into the whole work of Creation

In man, moreover, from the first awakening to consciousness in the spiritual planes everything is so ordered that very little is needed for him simply to open himself to that power of the all-embracing blessing of God and to keep this connection permanently

His spiritual origin makes him able to draw from this power for himself and for his surroundings

It suffices for him to keep the channel which lies within him from the beginning pure and hallowed through the joyful awareness that he is permitted to be a dweller in the great work of Creation of God

Were this awareness to shine within him permanently as the foundation for all else, he would need nothing further of a special kind in order to be healthy and also to prosper in everything to which he lends his part in that joyful attunement to the Power of God

But this proves a very hard task for the present-day cast of thought of most men

It would mean walking a far simpler way in thinking and in the understanding of life than is the case today

Of such a thing the intellect stands in great fear, for it would at once be set aside if there were suddenly to hold good in the world of society the knowledge that the Creator requires of man as the most important thing that he should rejoice in the thought that he is permitted to be a child of God

Therewith everything is fulfilled, if this basic pure attunement permeates all his thinking and acting without ceasing

It makes him at once and immediately ready to receive the Power of God streaming towards him

Truly, so simple and so plain is all of this

Just as a soap bubble swiftly collapses when it can no longer hold its shape, so would the present ordering of the world of society dissolve away if among earthly men too there gradually gained the upper hand the liberating knowledge that in the work of Creation the highest value before all else belongs to the pure inner volition of man, which is needed first of all so that he may always act harmoniously and creatively towards his fellow men and towards all creatures in the world, for only thus is the Power of God he receives to be used

If the human spirit wishes to experience a lasting state of fulfilling joy, then he can do nothing other than set out upon this way

But to this knowledge men will only come through the further quickened happening which already stands close before us all

This happening will bring many momentous events

That is because everything found in the lives of men on Earth needs to pass through a change in the loosening from the old, so that the new may come

It could, however, have been forestalled, in that men would first have made the change of their own free will

Everything heavily intellectual would thereby swiftly lose its influence, if the spirit swung in this awareness and thus held permanently the rule of a joyful nobility of character in its attunement throughout the whole day

Thereby all the conditions of the life of men on Earth would very swiftly be transformed

All that is merely learned, and that through intellectual cleverness makes many men artificially important before others, would swiftly lose its weight if such a man did not at the same time, in asserting himself before other men, carry a pure attunement permanently within his inner being

Thereby it would swiftly show itself, even in the immediate experiencing of men themselves, that for the Creator the most precious thing in man is a joyful childlikeness, in whose attunement he is to receive and to experience everything

From the very beginning of the birth of the sparks of human spirits at the lowest boundary of the spiritual Creation, God had everything so prepared by His servants in the planes of the Creation adjoining it that men would never have to suffer lasting want, sickness and pain

The condition for this, however, was that in their ripening and in their gaining of knowledge about the work of Creation they would always keep a childlike and simple trust in its wise guidance

It is precisely in trust that there lies that so greatly important bond with the Power of God, which was to accompany the developing human spirits permanently upon their paths and to manifest for them in a thousand forms of small and of great wonders

Thereby men would rightly come to know the Creator, and also how His Will manifests through the all-wisdom of its guidance in all the planes of the Subsequent Creation, through which the human spiritual kind that strives to attain the goal of its development needs to wander

In meeting with much that was new and awaited them upon their paths, such as for instance the animistic servants and the living forms of the worlds shaped by them, men were able through all of this to come with their trust ever nearer to the Father of all

Everywhere upon the paths of development of the human spiritual sparks there meets them the same ever-present confirmation that they find themselves in a glorious work of Creation which went forth from the Love of God

It suffices the human spirit to hold this awareness, so that he may rejoice therein and may also add for his part the share of his own kind of radiation to the whole harmony of the work of God

This is possible only through a permanent connection with the Power of God, which is attainable from any place whatever in Creation

Here on Earth too there was never anything more important for human spirits than that in pure striving they should constantly keep through trust the connection with the Light of God and the Power of God

Nevertheless it came about that men made everything so hard for themselves that this helping power, which otherwise has its share in absolutely all natural happening in Creation, had to begin to pass them by, for they closed themselves to it and let it flow around them without being able to unite themselves with it

There reached them only the most needful radiation, which kept them alive so that the spark of their spiritual inner being could at least in part glow at all

This degree of radiation of the spiritual spark, however, permits only the bare survival of soul and body

That, though, is pitifully little against all that the human spirit is permitted to receive into himself out of the inexhaustibility of the Power of God

And even that little power is distorted, in that men all too often use it for unlovely ends which hold within them the selfish asserting of their own selves

Even with that little power men for the most part did not know how to husband among themselves, and therefore all the good and the blessing contained within this power became stuck fast in the vanity and self-centredness of their low desires

To husband the Power of God is possible only through the love and the kindliness of men in the passing of it on to one another

Through this right husbanding of the Power of God in the passing of it on to one another harmony always arises

The measure of harmony is thus a testimony as to whether men live rightly or not, whether each one alone for himself or in their meeting with one another

And how it stands today among men with the said husbanding of the Power of God we can see well everywhere around us

Through the said lack of passing the Power of God on to one another mankind has at last fallen sick

It has become an utter beggar in that wherein, on the contrary, all could and always should have husbanded in abundance in the fulfilling of the Law of giving and taking

In consequence of this everything withered and sank down to the condition of the present time, which may be called the summit of the poverty of the spirit

Today a great part of mankind has not the least inkling that such a thing as the Power of God flows and streams unceasingly through the work of Creation

Most have unlearned how to unite themselves with it, and thereby men have become superfluous for the rest of the life within the work of Creation

The refreshing, life-giving power is today forgotten by mankind

In the great chain of giving and taking earthly men appear as an obstruction instead of that important and brightly shining link which was entrusted to them in the work of Creation

In that very task which from the Light it was expected men would fulfil with joyful matter-of-courseness, there came at last the greatest failure

But all of this can always be restored very swiftly, if only man would truly will it

Very little suffices for it to change for the better

So little indeed that it is a grave indictment if it does not happen today

It is an indictment of everyone who lets it lie aside and does not occupy himself with it

Every new day is a great opportunity to make a beginning with it in oneself

The wellspring at the outset has its beginning in the inward awareness that the Creator – the Holy God, expects one thing only from man, a joyful and loving approach to life as the foundation for all else

If a man keeps himself in this inward attunement with the awareness that precisely this is that fulfilment appointed for him as the primarily important task entrusted to him in the work of Creation, then with this very moment of awareness he has returned back upon the way to the Light

His inner being can open itself in complete trust towards God and His streaming Power which flows unceasingly through the work of Creation

Thereby he can become a receiving point of this Power

And the power will also at once begin to flow again into his inner being in the original refreshing blessedness, as it was at the very beginning when the spiritual spark in man began to awaken to its awareness

Step by step it will pervade all the coverings surrounding the spark, until at last the power floods the earthly body also and permeates the day-consciousness of man

It will permeate him so strongly that from then on he will be permitted to recognise with certainty its blessed working within his inner being and outwardly upon himself

He will be healed in body and in soul

It will surprise him with what simplicity and self-acting power it works

And this is but a confirmation that the Wisdom of God had all this made ready in advance through the servants of God, and that even before the first spiritual germs were permitted to incarnate into gross material shells for their first lives in this part of the materialities

The Wisdom of God had everything prepared so that it would be attainable for every human spirit in such a way that here too, in union with the earthly body which densely surrounds the spirit with its radiation, he might recognise the vibration of his spiritual spark, and through it, in joyful following of all the helps he had around him, might come newly to know all that his Creator offers him for his being in the great work of Creation

To recognise this was always easy, until the time when the intellect, swayed by the temptation from Lucifer through the thought "that it knows better", tasted its share of influence in man

Therewith came the first turnings aside from the way, as the several pictures of the Scriptures describe so very well

It was a tasting of the intellectual manner of thinking and acting, which, as men submitted themselves to it of their own free will, in the end mastered their seeing and their grasp of the connections so strongly that it finally swung them entirely away from the original way of a joyful, childlike and trustful ascent to the Light

In the wandering along false paths all that we see around us today had then of necessity to appear

Confusion, unrest, sickness, suffering of an outward and of an inward kind, and that in almost every man

Instead of a joyful striding upwards there came a straying about in the loops of wrong thinking and acting, and in consequence of this a great part of mankind was surrounded by an ever denser experiencing of all the threads of fate that must of necessity return

Thereby the way to the blessed home high in the Light began to grow harder for most spirits, until at a certain stage they came to a complete standstill, for the weight of the threads calling to be laid aside through experiencing would not let them climb any further upwards

And they forgot the help of the Power of God, which alone would have enabled them to loosen all this again and to set it into movement

They forgot their own spiritual inner being, that it is precisely this which is the starting point for the quickening Power of God to be able to stream to them gradually once more, granting them the strengthening to lay aside all that has been heaped up in their threads of fate, and thereby to set themselves free

It is therefore needful to return once more to the beginning, where lies the cause of all the consequences visible today

Everything begins in the inner being of man, in his own spiritual spark, which needs to be reborn and quickened to the degree of that pure bright flame which belongs to it

In a pure and joyful attunement to the Power of God rests the beginning of all necessary changes, if these are to lead towards a better and more meaningful being

The spark in the inner being of man needs to come alive and to perceive with jubilation its childlike and simple understanding of itself

Thereby the hitherto constricted inner being will be so loosened that through the quickened trust in God the stream of the all-quickening power will flow into it

The stream will at once begin to loosen the accumulated blockages and obstacles which have lodged in man through the far too great queue of waiting redemptions that must be made, and which urgently demand to be laid aside through experiencing

Their loosening will at once bring a movement in which the continuing inflow of the Power of God into the inner being of man, together with the Love of God contained within the Power, can lay aside much of what is needed and transform it to the degree of a symbolic living-through, if a pure soil for this is found in man

Thereby new happenings will begin to take place in his life, which will bring changes in almost everything that until now lay sleeping and waiting in the immobility of silted-up paths

Every new day will enable the man with a reborn spiritual inner being to advance a great stretch further

His spirit will fly upwards with a lightness which he has perhaps not been granted to experience for whole decades

Together with refreshment the Power of God will bring him for this always sufficient courage to stride onwards

Momentous changes will enter his life, if only he makes it possible through his cleaving to that childlike joyful attunement with which he begins to approach everything and all the creatures around him

The power will flow into his spark and will hold him again in the right direction, provided he does not himself with his intellect turn aside from this way once more in a wrong direction

He needs to guard himself against superficiality in his experiencing

And also against a false, proud self-assurance and against vanity, which is always in some way bound up with the dangerous volition to "know everything better"

But his inner being will be a great support to him, that this may not come to pass

Courage and enthusiasm for the experiencing of a new kind of life will become so wholly his own that he will never wish to let go of it again

Above all learning and all intellectual brooding there will rise within him the jubilation of his awakened, childlike and pure inner being

The inner being will then drink in the Power of God as one is refreshed by fragrant daily bread

There will spread within him that peacefulness and peace so very desperately sought until now

The weaving of harmonious threads in his meeting with his fellow men will become for him the most beloved content of his life

That is because therein he will constantly perceive the fulfilment of his task, which the Wisdom of God entrusted to him by enabling his spiritual spark to awaken to conscious being in the work of Creation

In the awakening there was already contained the fulfilment towards which the spiritual in man is to ripen through experiencing

The starting point for this fulfilment is a joyful being in conscious trust in God

Gradually there will then come also to those who still waver a strong conviction, which will allow enthusiasm for life to be awakened in yet other men who until now must languish in their closedness towards the Power of God

Now there comes the time of a great enlightenment in this matter

All men who seek a fulfilled and happy life are therefore to occupy themselves with it

It is the most important thing for the present time of great changes

Everything else, such as politics, commerce and the most varied difficulties of society, comes only far behind it
