Among the people who occupy themselves with this theme it is known also as the ether

We speak of the outermost stage of the uniform streaming of force of the animistic kind, lying close against the fine materiality of the Subsequent Creation before its entry into the visible universe

For the present we truly speak only of the most basic that can be said of this force, as yet unknown to most people, which nevertheless fills all the space of the Subsequent Creation

The Aether works outside gross matter, therefore it is for earthly instruments an invisible and immeasurable force, which nevertheless permeates all gross material forms in order to shape and to form them

Said in yet another way, the Aether is that all-animating, effective manifestation of mighty animistic influencing

Unstoppably it penetrates into gross materiality for its development and for its maintenance in movement

This force carries within it the capacity and also a certain power to change much for the better, or also for the worse, and this exactly according to the kind in which it is used in the universe

Its essence is neutral and it is wholly remote from all that is otherwise designated on Earth as physical kinds of forces

It is therefore neither positive nor negative, but works upon a wholly different principle than the forces and forms of the material kind known to men on Earth

The driving force residing in the Aether can be used for unwonted effects upon matter, whether for healing, for building up, for sustaining, or also for the breaking down and the transforming of matter, if the corresponding conditions are created for it

The Aether is that kind, hitherto unused by men, of a never exhaustible stream of life, which may manifest itself right into the outward forms of the physical laws of materiality

Until now the mistake has been made by many researchers of trying to ascribe to the Aether, even if only in part, material properties

Thereby they overstepped a thin boundary, and the sought-for properties of the Aether, which is of another kind for earthly instruments, thus always had at once to vanish from them

The Aether is a force of purely animistic origin, which is destined to glow through and to animate all the stages of the materialities in the Subsequent Creation

It stands in readiness for the fulfilling of the will of O-dio-nar, who thereby, through the primordially created Mercury from the Grail, faithfully serves the Holy God

It may be said that the Aether arose out of the will of O-dio-nar, when this first servant of Valhalla received the call of Mercury that at the beginning of all the arising of the materialities there should be a medium of force for the coming into being and the enduring of the Subsequent Creation

For earthly man this is something so far distant that to describe anything closer of it would be a more or less needless effort

It suffices therefore to write that the Aether is by its origin a bestowed kind of living force, which can help even earthly men themselves, if they will occupy themselves with it earnestly and sincerely enough

It is indeed an all-animating and also all-permeating force, whose nature is for the greatest part unknown to men

Unknown is above all that property which makes this force in a certain sense receptive, and thus creatively joining itself with that, or with him, who needs its properties or longs to use it

Of this essence of the Aether, apart from the ancient peoples upon the Earth, mankind today knows nothing

Not even those who occupied themselves with the Aether throughout their lives and investigated its effects and its properties ever wholly penetrated to the core of the knowledge that the force working within it is at the same time endowed with the capacity of receptivity

In the manner of naming used by science today it might be said that the Aether is an intelligent force

By this precisely does the Aether differ wholly from all forces having their origin in the physical manifestations of parts of gross matter

The particles of gross matter are in their essence lifeless, and thereby lacking any degree of receptivity

They are neutral towards any further use

The Aether, however, is receptive to all the inner vibrations that long to enter into connection with it

It may be said that it carries within it abidingly a receptivity towards all the kinds of intentions for which its help is to be used

This is the fundamental knowledge of the Aether which needs to be recognised by the human spirit and rightly used for the building up willed by God

The Aether, which of itself in a state of rest flows from the east towards the west, by which is meant a stream penetrating the gross material form of the universe from above downwards, always changes its direction at once and is literally awakened at once out of its rest if one of the forces of another kind acts upon it

By forces of another kind we may mean the movement of gross materiality, whether this movement be called forth upon the nuclear, the physical, the chemical or the cellular plane

Always, when a heightened movement arises among substances of gross material origin, the Aether is magnetically drawn and its even flowing movement changes at once into a turning, or rather a rotating movement

Any exceptional friction of matter calling forth movement, from the smallest particles of atoms, through the motion of the saps in plants and of the blood in living creatures, to the movements of the elements in their greatest activity, all this is a reason for the drawing near of the Aether to matter, so that the latter may be nourished by it

Drawn by the movement, it itself at once supplies the force stored within it to the happenings taking place upon the plane of gross materiality

The more the substance of gross matter is set in motion by mutual forces, the greater is the magnetic attraction that arises for the Aether, so that it may nourish this movement running its course in matter

This is given with its age-old nature, for it was for this working that at the beginning, at the command of Mercury, a creative force of the animistic kind was breathed into it by O-dio-nar

The presence of the Aether here in the universe we may therefore easily picture as a field of force encircling and permeating the whole space in which the worlds of all the materialities are to be found, whereby at the very slightest impulse of movement and of life in these worlds of the materialities the Aether answers immediately with its support for further movement and development

Its power is used precisely by all the great and small animistic servants in nature

Every stirring of a cell separating itself, or developing wholly independently, is a reason for the leading of force out of the Aether to its development and its enduring, for as long as it shall be able to receive the gift of the Aether for its being

Every circling of the particles of an atom, but also of still finer particles of quark and of pre-quark origin, is a reason for the replenishing of new force

All the bodies of the universe, from the greatest to the smallest, are from the moment of their arising through the creating of time and space by the servants Hathmes and Hermetes nourished for the fulfilment of the mission for which they came into being

The Aether nourishes all that moves

Yet thereby it works not only for the world of gross materiality itself, but at the same time also for all the other levels, to which belong the finer parts of gross materiality and also the ethereal worlds

The Aether is a force which must in its own way respond to the stirring of every vibration of thought in man

Out of these vibrations there is at once formed in the ethereal by the weavers, out of the power of the Aether, a corresponding form or even whole worlds bearing within them the power of a nebulous fleetingness, or on the contrary of a very resistant durability

All this arises out of the inexhaustible source of the Aether, which of itself in a state of rest flows from above downwards, like the vibration of infinitely long ocean currents

Just as in an ocean current the seaweed and all life move, so likewise do the worlds of the materialities wave and circle in the calm flowing of the inexhaustible power of the Aether

The power laid within it serves as the starting point for all the creating of the animistic servants

Whenever its power is needed by them, they set the form tended by them into movement and the Aether at once adds forces enough for the further advance in development

In this recognition there lies hidden for the human spirit too a mighty knowledge of something very wise

The wisdom lies in this, that everywhere where a man longs for an end to be reached, there precisely is he himself to bring about the complete separation of the thing or of the happening from all movement

All-embracing stillness will bring to every matter its ending, for the motionlessness, that is the not nourishing through thoughts and through deeds, will bring the separation from the inflow of the Aether

This holds for everything, whatever it may be

If anything ceases to be maintained in movement, then it ends and passes away, for the Aether separates itself from it and ceases to nourish it

The disconnection from the inflow of the Aether brings a true end in the Subsequent Creation for any kind and form whatever, be it of living or of lifeless origin

Where the Aether is restricted or is not led in at all, there matter at last falls apart, for it lacks the cohesive vibration which helps it to maintain its essence

What is closed off in its disposition towards the Aether passes away

The animistic servants know this principle very well

Likewise they know also that wherever there is at least the smallest germ of life, if the power of the Aether is led to it, then through its strengthening might there comes about a rebirth and an unfolding, often to an unwonted degree of the application of all the abilities laid into it beforehand

Precisely in this knowledge lies the way to healing from many of the present diseases that afflict mankind

The Aether is a force which for all the mentioned happenings will in the coming time be used by men in full consciousness

The knowledge of these principles will become for the future mankind upon the Earth an inseparable part of their spiritual recognition

Much is also already known among men and is caught up precisely in the wisdom of the people

It is, however, taken too superficially, without right attention being given to it by those who long to heal any disturbances whatever in the materialities

This concerns not only material bodies, but all happening, and this including human society

Men have continually around them helping inspirations and directions for the finding of ways out of the many hardships that surround them today

Yet the self-exaltation of intellectual men strives to go against this and, in the raising up of isolated exceptions, endeavours through distortion to prove that other principles hold good than those which are confirmed by the eternal Laws of Creation

The Aether and its presence in the human world will therefore become for many of these men wholly blinded by the intellect a reason for their dismay, for the increase of its visible manifestations, which comes through the Ray of Parzival, will in the time that follows drive to an unwontedly swift living out all the wrongnesses that arose out of the pettiness of human conceit in wanting to know everything better

Since this is already happening in part, it will be needful to give more attention to it

Every earnest observer will soon discover that in everything there rule wholly simple lawfulnesses, which work either for or against man, exactly according to how he uses them in his knowledge

Until now what many people lacked was precisely the knowledge of the Aether as a force materially invisible and immeasurable, yet nevertheless constantly and omnipresently working, of the animistic kind

The Aether is that which surrounds and permeates all that is material

Like an ocean of power appearing outwardly calm, it waits patiently to be used

If it is called by movement, it is at once active, and this even in an inconceivably mighty influx

Men ought to occupy themselves with it the more, if they truly wish to attain the ascent of life upon this Earth, and this upon all planes

The fundamental condition for this, however, is the spiritual awakening and the ensuing attunement of the pure wish for all-embracing good

Without the fulfilment of this condition man will remain a stranger to all the happenings that are now prepared by the animistic servants as a part of the Great Transformation

This wish on the part of men needs to be strong enough, because a spiritual wish is a movement called forth by the spiritual spark in man

The spark needs therefore to set itself into the highest movement for the arising of only inward wishes of all-embracing good, as this is from the beginning the task of the human spirit in the materialities

In the hitherto impossibility of men to unite themselves with the Aether through inner spiritual power we may see that this power was either wrong, not wishing good, or else it was insufficient and lukewarm

Both brought about the state that the Aether had until now, save for the smallest exceptions in the case of individuals, to pass the human world by, for the movement was either wrong, in that evil was willed by men, or else this movement was weak

This shows us how greatly we as mankind lag behind in the otherwise great spiritual capacities laid into the spiritual spark

That which was given to man through the Aether, so that it might serve him, is not set into movement, for mankind moves far too insufficiently

It is a sad testimony to a long-standing condition

The spiritual movement of men is too far turned away from good, or, in the case of good volition, it is weak

Therefore spiritual enlightenment now comes, so that all this may change

Then at once will come the opening of a great co-operation between the spiritual and the animistic, as it was always meant to be

The animistic activity is ready

Now it is the turn of man to come to the fulfilment of his glorious spiritual mission and of all the single courageous steps that follow from this mission
