A World Without Money – a More Natural Space of Being

Today it is for most people something well-nigh unimaginable that mankind could live and work under conditions in which money were not used

It appears as something going entirely against the essence of all the present rules on earth, for money is, among other things, closely linked with the supposed freedom of man

Therefore it seems today to most people indispensably necessary for the running of this world

It is even perceived in a similar way as the blood is important for the survival of the organism of the body

From the standpoint of everyday life this therefore creates the impression that money enlivens and drives everything which is here

Thus it is presented already to children as something given and thereby unchangeable, although it is a great delusion

That human society cannot live and work without money is confirmed by the experts and specialists trained in the matters concerning money

It occurs to no one as strange that these are experts only for the material world here, who look no further than to the boundaries of the material world here

That these experts in everything concerning money have therefore in reality no reach beyond it as regards the knowledge of the real meaning of human life

That alone should be a serious ground for attention, for human life is to be guided by knowledge of a spiritual kind, which surely stands higher than the aims of the earthly world here

But by precisely these experts and specialists all knowledge of the necessity of using money is set forth with such persuasiveness that hardly anyone doubts it any longer

If nevertheless someone comes with questions casting doubt on whether it really must be so, then such a man is at once designated by the said materialistic experts as a dreamer, or still rather as one who by his reflections endangers the running of the world of men here, which in the opinion of many is after all so nicely ordered

Any questions occupying themselves with whether money really is unconditionally necessary for a fully valuable life of men on this earth disquiet all those who are dependent upon money

It is possible to notice in this precisely that marked disquiet which arises in these people even before any more serious conversation in this direction has been begun at all

Today there prevails the supposition that without money the world would quickly collapse, because men could not continue further in the manner of life they have set up on this earth

And yet a world in which money need not be among men at all is of course possible

Indeed it may be said that it is even something natural, and therefore in the result something necessary, which will come so that it may at last in the coming time become a part of the world of men here

It is only that today it is for most people still something unthinkable

But it will come

It will come because it is part of the required developmental advance which will raise the world of men back to the hitherto lacking accord with everything else which is here all around, that is, into accord with the great harmony of the work of Creation

The existing detour of mankind, lasting several millennia, is a needless delay on the path of development

For thousands of years everything was so formed by men that the world hitherto became so very dependent upon the fulfilling of the law of the necessary balancing in the form of money

It has become a needless curse for many who have wholly succumbed to it

The great beneficial law of giving and taking was by the men of the intellect brought over into an application solely through money, which however can never be equally just in all the balancings between men

The law of giving and taking is in reality something far more living than people think today

People do intuitively perceive this, but they cannot free themselves from the existing ordering

Therefore we also often hear words which say that something valuable which was mediated to this world by one of men can never, in spite of the high worth contained in it, be adequately valued in money

As a rule this concerns human health, or directly the saving of a life in some grave moment

It can also be wise knowledge about the true meaning of existence, or discoveries of various kinds which bring progress in the life of men on earth

Also truly valuable historical works of art are perceived as something whose weight money can never balance

There is then spoken of the incalculable worth of historical treasures which tell of ancient cultures

Or the bestowing of help upon someone in a great distress he is undergoing

All this stands high above the value of money

It is remarkable that even an expression of thanks filled with warmth appears more valuable than money

The fervent thanks of a man, springing from deep within his inner being, is in its preciousness far more valuable than money, which in that moment appears too earthbound for the balancing of something truly great

Also the simple, sincerely experienced joyful thanks of a child is for grown-up people more valuable than any value of money

Although people intuitively perceive rightly how the real happenings experienced among them unfold from the living fulfilling of the Laws of Creation, nevertheless after every such strong vibration, when they are near to the health or even the very life of someone being saved, they return quickly to the customary manner of dealing with money

As an excuse there then serves them the assertion that it cannot be done otherwise, because the majority of society compels the individual to it

Alas, the individual man is too weak against the superior force lying in the ordering of the present world of money

Yes, that is of course a necessary reality given by the conditions of the present time

Nevertheless it does not mean that it is something right and that it will go on in this way further in accord with the blessing from the Light

For surely people can themselves perceive how much injustice takes place therein

It is also clearly suggested by the fact that if in the promise of the Kingdom of God on earth it is pledged that all things shall first become new, then that newness will most certainly touch money as well

And so indeed it will be

The Light will bring mankind to an advance which will finally have to show itself naturally in a new approach to life on earth, which will bring enlightenment into all the particulars

In the end that which today appears as unimaginable will be realised by ways which will show how easy it in reality is, and people will in shame and bitterness against themselves speak of how it is possible that it was not done long ago

The condition for this, however, is that spiritual enlightenment which first needs to show the right direction in the whole approach to life

The real meaning of human existence in the work of Creation needs first to be recognised and grasped

As soon as this comes rightly to the understanding of man, then everything will be much easier and the changes will come about surprisingly, with a childlike ease

Today, however, money and its use by men is still an enduring and cumbersome way of fulfilling the Law of the necessary balancing

It causes much wrongdoing, which often leads the one to easy gain and the other to long-lasting desperate want

And yet neither of the two belongs to the natural ripening of human spirits

Therefore the state of a world of men without money is the step which must now come, however much it will today provoke many a man even to fury, or with another will cause mockery and references to communist ideas

Such attitudes, however, testify only to a rigidity, or on the contrary to an indefensible inner ease, which are the reason for following the worn ruts of thought hitherto

Many people, without themselves being aware of it, drift through their life only with the superficial current of thought, however much they suppose of themselves that they know everything best

Therefore the mention of a possible world of men which could prosper even without today's ever-present money will call forth in the first place opposition, anger and mockery, as the natural consequence of all the rigid manner of reflection hitherto

Such manifestations, however, are something entirely secondary, for we now stand already close before the developmental advance which will automatically bring the necessity of changes in the understanding of men

The advance which draws near together with the spiritual enlightenment of men will bring an entirely different view upon many things in the ordering hitherto which are held by men here on earth as self-evident, but which as against the Life in the whole work of Creation are backward and are literally unworthy of the existence of the human spirit

The pressure which drives all this before it is a pressure coming from the Light

The Ray of Parzival in its all-embracing effect drives towards this earth a strong demand for the change of many things which today are still held by men as something self-evident and belonging to this earth, although they are of an entirely evil, indeed even directly wicked kind

Here surely belong all the forms of baseness, such as lies, the robbing of others, oppression, violence, wars, and also all the hidden forms of evil dwelling in the ballast of thoughts which surrounds the whole planet round about

All this is already designated in advance as evil, and as such it will have to be removed from this earth, which was granted to mankind by the Light

All this is brought already now by the rising pressure of the Ray of Parzival, which grows stronger with every day and every hour

People have no inkling how greatly they cling to many things which by their earthboundness are unbefitting for the spiritual substance of their inner being

It is thereby all the same at what degree of ripeness anyone stands

It hinders all men in their active spiritual movement, in which alone lies the grasping of the meaning of where and into what conditions this or that man is born for his spiritual progress on this earth

Hitherto anything of the kind remains ungrasped, and it necessarily calls forth great tension among men

Spiritual progress and ascent, with all the knowledge which is connected with it, is always to stand in the first place, and everything else only follows after it

And to everything which comes only after the aforesaid spiritual ascent of man there necessarily belongs also money and its role among men hitherto

To this there belongs also the recognition of the fact that apart from this human world we shall find money nowhere in another part of the work of Creation, in the sense in which it is regarded and used by men

Apart from the world of men here, money cannot be found anywhere else in the work of Creation

That this has hitherto struck no one as suspicious is a sign of the preponderance of the aforesaid intellectual thinking, which does not allow men to think more creatively and thus to reflect beyond the set boundaries of the present thought-forms

The world of the animistic surely knows nothing such as money, and yet it has prospered for billions of years better than the world of men

Also the animistic has never submitted itself to human rules, it has not let this wrong principle of giving and taking be forced upon it, however much men intervene continually in nature

It is so because the animistic serves through O-dio-nar under the direct influence of the primordially created Merkur, who is one of the servants of the Grail

The animistic is therefore in a kind of swinging which stands lastingly higher than the world of men here on earth

In this its swinging everything in the world of the animistic works in the Law of giving and taking in the sacred awareness that everything is received from the one whole power of the Father of all and is further transformed in its essence into a unique kind of expression

This kind of expression is at once given further as a voluntary gift to the whole

Only for that reason there dwells in the world of nature that state upon which men look with undisguised admiration as upon a perfect interplay, which they call the state of lasting balance

The law of balancing is to be found in the whole material universe

It is a natural state which is possible only because by each single creature, in the place where it is and where it works, something valuable is given immediately and unconditionally to the whole

With the animistic it is given by the nature of its kind, for its swinging rests lastingly and wholly in the Will of God

The fulfilling of the principle of giving and taking in the sense of the Will of God is thus given by the fact that every single animistic creature and every particle of animistic power works unreservedly in this Will of God

Thereby the world of nature and also all the manifestations of the laws in the universe differ greatly from the working of man

But it is truly only at first sight a differently appearing working, for as a natural part of the whole the world of men too should from the beginning have belonged just as much to the aforesaid harmonious swinging

In this men were and are to follow the other planes of the work of Creation, which swing wholly in accord with the Wise Will of God

Every single human spirit has from its beginning enough within it of that which can and is to be given by it into the whole as a contribution to the forming of the vibrations of harmony

At the same time it also holds good that everything it has received from its first self-consciousness, and still receives in order that it may be, comes to it from the Creator

There is nothing which would come from elsewhere than from the Holy Source of power, which is of divine origin, and which flows into Creation at its very summit in the halls of the Grail

In the work of Creation nothing arises without the participation of this Holy Power of God

Neither can anything endure lastingly without this power

And therefore it is naturally expected of every creature that it manages this bestowed power freshly, that is, that it deals with it in the way willed by God

That it first gives out this power, worked through by itself, rather than first expecting who else will grant it something of this power

It is to concentrate everything within it upon transforming the power in the best way for the giving further, not that it may take from it for itself as much and as easily as possible

In the world of nature only that which is weak and sick receives first, so that afterwards, when it is healed and strengthened, it may give all the more

The giving further of the divine power is a Law working from eternity in the work of Creation

Giving means that something is first granted by man, in a genuine volition to good, as an expression out of himself in the best turning to account of his abilities for his fellow men, and thereby for the whole world, that is, for the whole work of Creation

Giving is a blessing which is at the same time the fundamental drive of the cycle of the forces

It is a thousand times more valuable to give than to take

In this too lies the great difference which is inherent in the world of money, where receiving is always expected first

People today, however, for the most part do not give further, as a part of the living cycle of the forces, the power received which is granted to them from the divine Wellspring of Life in order that they may transform it in their abilities for the welfare of others, but they grant it to their fellow men and to the world with the calculated expectation of receiving a counter-value determined by themselves

Everything which is granted to them by Creation so that they themselves, in work for others, may grow and strengthen in their gifts and abilities, they do indeed give further, but in most cases already with the condition of a determined counter-value

The work of Creation was built up upon the great principle of joyful giving

Where therefore the emphasis is first laid upon the expectation of receiving in advance, even before there is giving, there a principle is unknowingly applied which can never lead to the unfolding of further forces and abilities as would otherwise be possible

It is the principle of the mutual draining away of power among men, instead of the heightening of these same forces through their being offered in the purest way in the first place

It is therefore the opposite principle to that applied by the creatures in nature, where animistic guilelessness seeks no ways to enrichment

Giving bears blessing, whereas the expectation that something is to be received is the taking away of everything sacred which is concealed in the approach holding good in the whole work of Creation, where the emphasis is laid upon the primary will to give

Money is here today so that it may always bear within it the formed imprint of an income expected in advance, that is, of taking

Therein is then contained all that which men have experienced with money already for a long time on earth, that is, the discontent arising out of the thought-ordering in which as a rule it is expected in advance to receive more than is afterwards given

That which then arises as the surplus between receiving and giving, men consider as gain

They consider it as something valuable, out of which they then form further conditions for a still greater gain

That they thereby stand entirely against the laws working in the work of Creation, of that they are not aware, for it appears to them, in comparison with their surroundings here on earth, as a procedure which is followed by the majority of other people

It does not strike them as strange at all that they direct all their concentration in thoughts towards the principle: to receive as much as possible while giving out as little as possible

Thereby, however, they separate themselves from all the rest of life, which by the nature of its being stands in the principle of bestowing, that is, of concentration upon giving

It is so in the whole of nature and in the universe, that the first thing is giving

However much men suppose that all the rest of life too swings in the same principle as it is with men who build their success in life upon money, their derived picture of all life in the work of Creation is entirely mistaken

Every creature, unlike man, is fully placed into giving through its nature, by which it is of benefit in that it swings fully in accord with the harmony of the whole of the work of Creation

Full worth in existence is in the world of nature already that giving which every creature knows how to do

Full worth in its essence every creature fulfils by giving something out of itself, that is, by granting something strengthening to the rest of the space in which it is

And thus all the creatures in nature swing in the wisdom of a higher guidance

Thus works the unconsciously animistic and the consciously animistic on all the steps of their activity

Even the human body itself, which by its nature is formed of the unconsciously animistic kind of life, fulfils this condition in the basic frame of its existence

Be it a matter of the breath, of the taking of food, and also above all of the receiving of the divine power in its lasting streaming flow

Always the condition for the further receiving of anything is first to give something out

And this happens quite naturally in the flowing of the whole time of the life of the body

Where this is then forcibly disturbed by the arbitrariness of the free decision of the human spirit, there there arises gradually a congestion in the body, disturbances come about and subsequently sickness comes, that is, a sticking fast of the power

The greatest part of illnesses arises precisely from the sticking fast of forces originally flowing smoothly in the body

And just as it is with the individual body, so it is also with the whole of human society, which through wrong volition, lying in the concentration upon receiving, causes in rising waves collapses and crises of a monetary as well as of a general social kind

The partial release of such a crisis then takes place under very dramatic conditions, which not seldom end in deeds of violence, revolutions or wars

It is, however, always only a partial release of the congested and thereby halted flowing of the forces, for the cause is never removed by violence

It can be removed only by the turning about of the whole principle lying in the approach to the law of giving and taking

If all the strength is concentrated in the first place upon giving, then the whole development also proceeds indeed in waves, but in that it goes in the direction of an all-embracing unfolding, then instead of a halting it is a matter of an ascent by leaps, for the forces given will always find application for further progress

Never can a crisis come about therein, for if the power flows rightly, then it brings inspirations for further ascent for all who take part

That, however, is something which here on earth, apart from short periods of unwonted flowering, has never gained sufficient preponderance for the whole of mankind to be permitted to share in it lastingly

The aforesaid giving contains within it, in connection with the earthly world, yet something important to be grasped

This is the administering of everything which is granted to man by the Loving-Kindness of God into his existence

To this belongs every gift, every endowment, and thus in the result also all the earthly property which men have

It is to be administered so as to be in full accord with the harmony of the work of Creation

The administering of property means much activity which man needs to give out of himself in order to keep everything entrusted to him in the right swinging in accord with the Will of God, which gives to everything in the life of man a higher meaning

But therein lies the stumbling-block, for it may be said that, unlike all the creatures, man has never on earth administered the property entrusted to him in accord with the harmony of the work of Creation, that is, in accord with the Will of God

He always supposed that he has the right to decide about his property only according to himself

And as proof of this he pointed to the fact that he acquired his property with his own money

That, however, only points to how entirely aside human earthly reflection stands, which thereby cuts itself off wholly from the rest of life in Creation

Giving lies therefore also in the responsible tending of everything which is in the hands of man, so that it may blossom and bring blessing by its appearance, by its orderliness, by its healthy state, and by the way in which it all harmoniously sounds together with the whole

But that is exactly what every single creature in the world of nature observes

Let man go into nature and he will find it everywhere, in every place, even the smallest

Every creature, in the giving of itself, cares in its kind of mission for that which is given to it for its life

The full worth of this giving is the condition of the growth, the strengthening and the gaining of a greater extent of everything which the creature may responsibly administer

How greatly this human world would change if men began at last to think rightly in this kind of high responsibility about everything they consider to be their property

Out of the property which is surely also in reality the possession of the Creator, for He alone gave it the power and the matter that it might come into being, there holds good a lasting responsibility of everyone who lays claim to this property during the time of his life on earth

They would quickly have to revalue it, and through the tending of it they would learn to perceive that here too it holds good that to have less is really more

This responsibility, moreover, still holds good, and therefore holds good also today, although men would perhaps not wish to admit it in their thinking

Out of everything with which he is in any way connected there flows for man a responsibility which he will have to take upon himself and to live through in the moment of the reckoning with the one and true owner

When one day men grasp this, then they will quickly wish to become the administrators only of so great a property as their strength suffices for, so that they may say with a calm inner conscience that they administer it as the great harmony of the work of Creation expects of them

Then they will also learn to recognise that it is better in this administering of the things entrusted to help one another mutually, so that the harmony may not be disturbed

And because everyone is able to do something different, then everyone will be able to offer other people some other help on his part

The counterweight to this will be help to himself in something else from someone else, who will joyfully pass on his skill for the help of his fellow man

Then people will find that they do not need many things which hitherto they considered necessary for themselves here on earth

The worth of most things will change, whereby that which will be considered the highest treasure, the most important of all, will be the living knowledge and grasp of the Wisdom of God, which is the key to happiness and success in the walking of men through life
